CW: a bit of possessiveness, misogynistic lines.
This is a good start to an entertaining series by J. Sterling that follows different couples (I think they will all be standalone novellas) set during different holidays.
This first one is set during New Year's Eve and it follows two co-workers, Lily and Declan, that have been pining over each other for years, but never told each other anything. Of course all of their colleagues know about their unspoken love and attraction to each other, but they strongly suggest not to go for it since previous romances in their workplace didn't go as planned and left the people involved with problems on co-existing in the workplace.
I think this was a fun little short novella, and if you want some fuzzy feelings in this holiday time, it could be a good choice, I just want to point out this is definitely adult romance, so yeah, just know that.
I was entertained by this one, but I have to admit that some lines really irked the hell out of me. The male lead was way too possessive for my likings, and some lines he said about Lily and how she was "her girl" even before they even spoke about their feelings and were still oblivious really did not resonate well with me, but I get that I have a bit of problems with alpha males in general in romance books, so yeah, probably that's on me. Also, some comments made about a woman really irritated me, so yeah I for sure I had to lower my rating for that.
Other than that, of course it is a novella so everything is quite fast, but it was fun beside the things I spoke about earlier, so if you look for a New Year's Eve good time, I suggest you give it a chance.
