Traveling Calvert Sisters

Head Over Heels in Hawaii

Rate this book
First in a new romantic comedy series by Tori Ross! Come along with the Calvert sisters as they find love and laughter far from home...

Cora Calvert is frustrated with her life and still sleeping in her childhood bunk bed. As if living with your parents isn't bad enough, Cora's job consists of measuring old women for bras instead of using her college degree in fashion design. When an opportunity for a trip to Hawaii comes about, she's all over it and can't pack fast enough. Even better, the tour is only for people in their twenties.

Cora's excitement for the tour wanes when she learns the tour company assigns seats, and she's stuck next to an arrogant jerk named Eric. Cora makes other friends and tries to ignore Eric's green eyes and verbal diarrhea as she explores the islands. But Cora's about to learn that first impressions can be very wrong.

The Traveling Calvert Sisters series is a series of shorts with 25-35k words. They can be read in any order. HEA or HFN guaranteed!

Head Over Heels in Hawaii is the first standalone in a new series following the Calvert sisters. Cora Calvert is 25 years old and one of nine children (eight girls and one boy, including three sets of twins). After graduating with a degree in fashion design, she was financially unable to support herself, so she moved back in with her parents in Alton, Illinois. As four other siblings are also living at home, Cora must share a room with her sister, Peyton. On top of living at home, she has a job working in a department store measuring women for bras, which is far from her dream position. She is very excited to find an escape in the form of a trip to Hawaii where she joined a tour group that will take her to the islands of Oahu and Maui and is only for those in their twenties. The chaos starts as it becomes very apparent how sheltered Cora is as she does not know how to navigate an airport and everything around her is an interesting first experience.

Once she lands in Hawaii, she meets a fellow Midwesterner, Salina. The two of them hit it off and agree to hang out with each other during the trip. When the two of them are at a convenience store, they run into Eric and his friend Barns and they do not get off to a great start. Their plan to avoid each other is foiled when the tour guide assigns “vacation pods” where different travelers are placed into groups. These four characters experience the fun and adventure that Hawaii brings with some things going very much not according to plan. The more time that Eric and Cora spend together, the more Cora begins to realize that Eric may not be as bad as she originally thought. The two of them have great chemistry and it was fun to see their relationship grow, even if some gross incidents happen between them. Barns and Salina were also fun additions to the story as I loved how Salina loved his facial hair and was determined to be with him and he was happy to reciprocate.

Overall, this was a very cute and fun read. As this is Cora’s first travel experience on her own, I loved her discovering everything through trial and error. I give her a ton of credit as your first solo trip is never easy and brought me back to my own, although in my case I at least had more experience with flying previously. Since this story takes place with the characters on vacation, there is tension about if their relationship is just for the time being or if they can make it work in the long run. This novel was a nice short read yet it contained an entertaining plot and interesting characters. I liked that I could read this in a little over an hour as it gave a fun escape between everything else. I cannot wait to see what the next Calvert sisters novel bring!

**I want to give a special thank you to BookSprout and the author for a review copy of this entertaining and enjoyable novel. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.**

A stuff your kindle find and not one I think I'd recommend. I liked the idea of this story but where it fell short was the feeling that the story was incomplete at every part. It was a really cute idea! I just felt like due to the short nature there wasn't much substance. Even given that, the writing was nothing stellar to me.

If you want a cute, fun, bit out there story read - this is great :)

Cora gets more than she bargained for when she sets off on a week long tour of Hawaii. Her meet cute with leading man, Eric is definitely more of a meet disaster. When they are constantly paired together for activities, sparks fly.

This novella was a quick read, full of fun one liners, and a few spicy times. Great for a palate cleanser, or to get out of a book slump!

Thanks to Tori Ross for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This so the first time I have read fr this author and I enjoyed it so much!!

As soon as I started reading this it was so hard to put down. The MCs had some serious chemistry that couldn't be faked by any means.

With all the chemistry and hot man how could you not want to take advantage of the affection he has in him??

I was so excited and cheered throughout the whole book for these two and couldn't get enough!!

This is the first book in The Traveling Calvert Sisters series by Tori Ross. It is the perfect way to kick off your spring or summer reads. Head Over Heels In Hawaii is a light, quirky, laugh out loud romcom. The MCs are funny, the plot is fun, and everything about this novella is fun and feel good. It is a stand-alone, but I can't wait to read the rest of the books.

Put on your pee-pee-proof panties, fasten your fun seatbelt, and secure your sunhat, because you're going on the holiday of a lifetime. Head Over Heels in Hawaii is a laugh-out-loud riot of a romantic comedy from start to finish and I absolutely LOVED it!

Cora hasn't been on holiday without her parents and umpteen siblings before. Cora has never flown before. Cora has never fallen into a display of 'Super Pecker' condoms in front of the perfect stranger before. But now she's in Hawaii and experiencing so many things for the first time.

She wants to avoid the grumpy stranger, but unfortunately not only is Eric joining the tour she's on, he's been put in her 'post-pandemic bubble'. Now there's no escape from his good looks and slow burn charm.

I read this book on a train. In public. I snorted so many times I'm sure my fellow passengers thought I was a pig. I'm not going to give away the funnies as I want you to experience them for yourself, however I guarantee you won't have ever read THAT scene before...

This is a quick and perfect read. It's charming, hysterically funny and has enough heat to keep you satisfied. 11/10 from me!

Not Funny at All . . .

Cora Calvert is such a twit and I didn’t like her and her attitude from the start. Annoyed at living at home instead of being grateful she could return there when she can’t get the job she wants, then grousing at her existing job, again instead of being grateful to have a job at all, and delighted to know that only those in their 20’s can go on this special vacation trip – well, isn’t she an entitled little …. (stifled). (I’ll bet seniors everywhere are grateful for that fact as well! A busload like Cora could be pure torture.)

So at 25, she decides she needs to go on a vacation to Hawaii without anyone accompanying her. That means she has no experience traveling and no knowledge of all the things one needs to know about catching flights and such. She has a bad start when she meets Eric and then finds out seats are assigned and she will have to put up with him as her travel partner. Poor child. She eventually falls for him. Now she can worry whether they will have just this vacation fling or whether their relationship can survive back in the real world. What will they decide to do?

As implied, with Cora’s rotten attitude and the snide way she speaks to people, even those trying to help her, I already didn’t like her. I am not one who finds humor in the smart-mouth responses to others. I expect good or at least tolerable manners, and this chickie didn’t have any. So if there was humor, I didn’t respond to it because I wasn’t feeling humorous from page 1. Sorry, this one is not for me. Great character portrayal though – I really felt strong emotions toward her.

Cora has found herself living back at home with her parents and five of her nine siblings so when her best friend gets the chicken pox Cora jumps at the chance to go to Hawaii in her friends place as long as she as paid half of the total from the trip, and she didn't think twice about it. Lots of first for Cora first airplane flight, and so much more, but one thing Cora wasn't expecting to find on this trip was a rude butthole of a guy who she got stuck with as her seat mate on the trip now she has to deal with him more then she wanted to, but once he starts pulling some of his layers away, will she be able to get over how rude he had been to her before she knew him or will his attitude be what ruins her once in a lifetime trip. this is the perfect story for the saying don't judge a book by its cover. it was a very cute story

While shopping she meets the most handsome man in her life , but he shoves her away to get his drink . She hates him instantly but she learns that she will have all the journey to Hawaii with his as a partner . While they spend their tme together she is falling for him . Will they be together or this is a vacation fling ? I loved Salina and her obsession with Barns facial hair .

Cora is longing for an escape so when she has the opportunity to travel to Hawaii, she decides to take a leap of faith. What she wasn’t ready for was having to spend time with the most arrogant and irritating man she has ever met. So why can’t she stop thinking about him?!

The chemistry between these two brought this story to life. This is a funny yet romantic shirt that will have you tearing your hair out just willing these two people to finally see sense.

Love the Calvert Sisters series!
This is the first in the series but these books can be enjoyed a stand-alone.

I won a copy of this book in a competition last year and I’m so glad I finally read it.

It’s a novella and for a book with only 95 pages, it sure packs a punch.

Cora heads to Hawaii for a tour trip and once there she has an encounter with a condom stand, oh and Eric the guy who pushed her into said condom stand. This pair fight but that surely doesn’t last long. It’s the perfect enemies to lovers and you will be cheering for them just like Skippy.

This book is Slowburn but what a ride it takes you on its way there. This book will have you laughing out loud for most of it while simultaneously have you wanting to bang Eric and Cora’s heads together haha.

Great fun read ❤️

A 25-years-old woman who grew up very sheltered in the Midwest goes on her first holiday solo. She tours Hawaii in a tour bus, getting to know Eric from Seattle. They argue a lot at first but develop a friendship. There were some fun, entertaining moments and some sexual content. One particular scene involving puking was quite gross, and I think she needed to get rid of all the witnesses. Eric must be either a strong character or a glutton for punishment to be attracted to her after that. The story took about 90 minutes to read, give or take. I got this from Booksprout.

Cora is escaping to Hawaii for a vacation alone amid a group of people in their 20s. She meets Eric and first bad impressions change after they are assigned to sit by each other in the bus. Lighthearted, quirky romance with entertaining situations and great banter. I think she needed to grow up a bit more as she had never been away from her parents. Enjoyed the locales and the personalities of the group.

Head Over Heels in Hawaii is a fantastic read that will have you laughing from the start. Love the interaction with Cora and her family, it is so spot on. Cora's reactions throughout the book are believable made me love her even more. Now Eric, that guy is a piece of work, but over the story you get to see the other side of him.

Amazing story that was a delight to get lost in and will make you laugh and smile.

Cora feels stuck in a rut with her life, and when she received the opportunity of a lifetime with a trip to Hawaii, she jumps at it, where she meets Eric. This is a little gem of a story. This is a well written story which is fun, and with friendships, family, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner.

Is there more to Eric than his first impression?

Cora & Eric's story is book 1 in a series. Their story is almost like an enemies to lovers story with a bit of comedy thrown in. Eric comes across as a jerk & Cora is not impressed. By the end of the tour will Cora's feelings about Eric have changed?.

This was absolutely hilarious to the point I could not stop laughing. There are some truly cringe worthy moments that just makes this so relatable and funny. Great storyline and the characters are spot on with their banter. A wonderful ending that goes thru all the emotions.

I read this on kindle and it was only about 102 pages. It was a cute story and a fun little read. I would have liked to have seen it drawn out more and have been a longer story though. I found it interesting that the author would only use the word “butthole” instead of swearing, which made it feel more like a YA book until the end. Good read overall, I just wish I had more of it to read.

Misunderstanding to Loving

Quick, easy read that went from Eric and Cora engaging in multiple misunderstandings to a happily ever after. Loved reading all the scenes with them getting to know each other more. This is a great book for the Enemies-To-Lovers reader who wants something quick.

Got this book as a stuff your kindle romance. It was cute but you really have to look past the plot making no sense. Pretty sure if this had been real life, they would have hated each other. I think I got second hand embarrassment from how rude she acted, and the puking down the shorts. All that aside, I did love Eric’s character and this was a quick simple read.

For a quick easy read this book was fine and I like the storyline of the main character going on a solo holiday to Hawaii. I found the first half a bit flat but things definitely picked up in the second half and I found myself wanting to carry on reading.
