It was supposed to be a farewell party. With just the two of us.

I loved this so much . I don’t care if this had surprise pregnancy. Because it was safe . SAFE . 🗣

No built up, no connection , nothing.
Being best friends since forever OFF page doesn't help me connect with them at all.
No past chapters, nothing.
Straight up of them getting drunk..i think they are in their late 20ties, i don't even know.
They had sex, then he goes away for work 10 months, comes back and she had the baby.
That's all the book!
A few talks only in the drunk night and when he returns and that's it.
ah and the epilogue.

This one got me all in the feelz. It was a quickie novella about two best friends in love with one another, but too afraid to destroy their relationship by exposing their love.

One night of drunken passion before the hero leaves for a year, leads to a baby.

Totally safe. Double virgins. No others, no abuse or cheating of any kind. HEA with epilogue 10 years out.

The entirety of the plot of Meant to Be is described in the synopsis. It didn't feel as if there were any emotional development as the main characters transitioned from long-time best friends to something more. Despite being separated for a year – and the Heroine being alone while pregnant for that amount of time – there was very little angst. It was unbelievable, especially considering the Heroine had no family or friends outside of the Hero. The reality of that kind of situation – and how horrible the Hero probably felt when he came home and discovered what happened when he was away – detracted from my enjoyability of the romance. I found it difficult to suspend my disbelief.

Standalone Adult Contemporary Romance novella, featuring the "friends to lovers" and "secret baby" tropes.

It was cute while being quite annoying at times, hence the 2-star rating.

We only had this one moment in time, this slice of life that would never happen again. I'd never see my son at this exact same age. I'd never hold my wife in this way ever again. And I never wanted to take it for granted.

Long-time best friends Lia and Jameson have been skirting around their attraction toward each since the day they met. But when one night of passion before Jameson goes away for a year leads to a surprise pregnancy, Lia makes the best of things and starts working towards their happily ever after.

The concept wasn't revolutionary or groundbreaking by any means and I wasn't a fan of the writing style, but the sexy scene (and all the glorious dirty talk that went along with it) was one of the best I've read in a while. There were also just a few really cute moments, mostly because of Jameson. He truly was the perfect book boyfriend despite being a little bland and having only 60-odd pages to woo me. All his monologues were *chef's kiss* though so I won't hold it against him too much.

If you're looking for something quick and sweet with a hint of spice I'd recommend this in a heartbeat!

Argumento:

Se suponía que sería una fiesta de despedida. Solo nosotros dos.

Jameson iba a viajar por todo el mundo durante el próximo año para ayudar a los menos afortunados. Yo me quedaba en casa, sabiendo que cuando regresara finalmente sería sincera con él sobre mis sentimientos.
Que estaba enamorada de él.

Pero la noche no tenía por qué resultar como lo hizo.

Emborracharse.

Desnudarse.

Durmiendo con mi mejor amigo.

No podía creer que habíamos cruzado esas líneas hasta que se desdibujaron y prácticamente desaparecieron. Pero no podía mentir y decir que no había sido todo lo que había soñado.
Y ahora Jameson se había ido para el siguiente año, y yo me quedé aquí preocupándome sobre cuál sería el siguiente paso para nosotros.

Porque me enteré que estaba embarazada del bebé de mi mejor amigo y él no sabía nada al respecto.



Mi humilde opinión:

Romance de mejores amigos a amantes, aventura de una noche, bebé sorpresa.

Esta historia fue super corta pero me resulto desesperante porque los protagonistas eran mejores amigos de siempre y en secreto estaban enamorados del otro pero nunca dijeron nada por mas que el sentimiento se volvió insoportable y estaba en la punta de la lengua confesar el Te amo mas que un amigo. Una noche de borrachera pasa lo inevitable, se dicen lo que sienten y tienen sexo. Y qué hace Jamison? Se va por un año sin decirle que la ama y que volverá por ella, era obvio que Lia lo iba a esperar! En serio, la falta de comunicación innecesaria me mataba. Me dio pena Lia, no tenia a nadie que estuviera para ella cuando se enteró del embarazo, encima no podía contactar a Jamison en su trabajo. Me pareció muy valiente como se dijo así misma voy a estar bien y puedo hacerlo. Su amor por Jamison era inquebrantable no solo lo esperó sino que documentó todo su embarazo para que él no perdiera de nada. Cuando él regresa por fin confiesan sus sentimientos y fue un momento tierno con dos epílogos aun mas tiernos.

Igual hecho en falta que Lía le contará que estaba pasando en su vida, y no el susto que se llevó Jameson al llegar, pero aún así estuvo muy bonito.

It was beautiful and super sweet. Both are super in love but afraid to tell each other.

I still missed Lia telling him what was going on in her life and not the scare Jameson got when he arrived, but it was still very nice.

Mejores amigos que se aman en secreto + Una noche de alcohol = Bebé sorpresa

Este libro tiene la cuota perfecta de romance y dulzura. Los protagonistas son amigos de toda la vida y la adversidades que pasaron juntos solo hicieron que se acercaran más. Se aman en secreto, tan es así, que ninguno de los dos quiere arriesgar perder al otro por miedo al rechazo.

Aunque más de la mitad del libro desarrolla esa noche y todo lo que pasó, considero el desenlace de la trama fue algo rápido que podría haberse alargado un poquito más.

Mas allá de esto, es un buen libro para leer de un tirón y disfrutar de algo super dulce.

Mmmm... okay?

Es un libro bastante corto, como para pasar el rato ya que realmente no tiene ningún tipo de trama. Ni siquiera me quedó claro que estaba pasando, si iban para la universidad, debían ser jóvenes, entonces¿por qué ella vivía sola?, ¿quién la ayudaba? También, ¿en qué parte del mundo estuvo él que NUNCA pudo comunicarse con ella? Tantas preguntas y ni una sola respuesta. Tampoco desarrollan la relación de ellos, simplemente tienes que aceptar que están enamorados del uno del otro, no nos cuentan el por qué de esto, eso es todo.
Y realmente tampoco pasa nada interesante, prácticamente la sinopsis del libro te cuenta todo.
