ENTHÄLT: SPIDER-GWEN (2015 II) 9-15, SPIDER-GWEN (2015 II) ANNUAL 1 & ALL-NEW WOLVERINE (2016) ANNUAL 1
David Jason Latour (b. 1977) is an American comic book artist and writer known for his work for Image, Dark Horse, Marvel and DC comics on titles such as Wolverine, Winter Soldier, Southern Bastards and Spider-Gwen.
Collected together for the first time!!!!! You got a story from around 2017, when they really pushed this book. Gwen has superheroed with Earth 616's Jessica Drew and Silk and was losing her powers. She was given an injector gauntlet that juiced her up for a limited amount of time..
aaaaaaand cue her life getting crazy. I'm still not a big fan of the initial setup of this universe. At least she isn't bounding in and out. That got chaotic really quick.
The rest of this collection is Annuals and one shots. Cute stories, but nothing too intense
They skipped issues #7 and 8 between the previous collection and this one (those are in Spider-Women--it would have been nice if either volume had made that clear instead of cross-promoting Miles Morales trades; Spider-Women is mentioned in a footnote late in the volume). This leaves the reader extremely confused as to why Gwen doesn't have her spider-powers without "power-ups." This is a fun read, but still feels like it's trying to be too clever in reworking previous Marvel material. This isn't to say there arne't new twists, like Matt Murdock being the Kingpin.
The All-New Wolverine Annual is pretty silly. Because of a mistake by the Red Hornet, Gwen gwitches bodies with Laura Kinney on Earth-616. Unlike early Marvel stories where this happened, they choose to cooperate in order to deal with it. It's fun seeing each character ineptly use the other's power. They left to the imagination what Glen did to Laura's face with her claws since she has a healing factor. I've been reading X-23's early appearances, and if this issue is any indication., All-New Wolverine has a much lighter and more juvenile tone by comparison. She lives with a cloned little sister named Gabby and an actual wolverine that Gabby puts in a domino mask. She refers to Wolverine as her dead father. Interestingly, when Wolverine introduced Laura to the New X-Men, he called her his sister, which, as a clone, would be more accurate.
descobri só na hora de abrir que essa hq é um compilado dos volumes 9 a 15 de uma série que eu nunca tinha começado a ler, então eu não entendi muita coisa. mas go girl! a arte é linda e pelo menos eu tenho uma hq da gwen agora
I loved rereading these comics all bound up in one volume. So good! The story here deals with Gwen losing her powers, and facing the possibility of never being Spider-Woman again. She has to figure out who she is and would be, and what she wants to be. It's all very fun character stuff, wrapped up in superhero shenanigans. Art is great as always. I love the spider-gwen colours so much. The only reason this isn't reaching five stars is that the second half is all the collected special/holiday issues and most of them aren't all that interesting. They're mostly fine on their own, but they don't progress the story (which is very annoying when it cuts right in between big plot points!).
Gwen: "TEN DOLLAR CORN DOGS?! HOW DO YOU GUYS AFFORD TO EAT HERE? MR. ALBY MUST BE MAKING A FORTUNE!" Betty: "OH, WE DONT EAT HERE, SILLY... BUT THE ARTISANAL PICKLE WATER IS FREE." - Gwen's reaction to the rebranded and remodeled Dollar Dog store she used to work at.
First, Gwen gets hunted by Punisher and Kraven. I don't know if it's possible for Frank Castle to be more psychotic, but Kraven is definitely much weirder in this universe. We also get to meet Mysterio, who is also strange. Then, Gwen gets in deep with evil Daredevil and his ninjas. The annual is a collection of short stories of varying quality and entertainment value. Finally, Gwen and Laura Kinney (Earth 616) switch bodies in the Wolverine Annual. Overall, I enjoyed this more than the first volume. Four stars.
I didn’t enjoy the stories as much as I thought I would, was a lot of whining and complaining about have powers or not having powers and dealing with egos. I did enjoy most of the artwork and a few memorable sections. Also like other books and comics that have holidays portions, I do not like the drawings and talk about eating lots of meat, like this is somehow the only purpose for a holiday..
Another awesome Spider-Gwen comic. I did feel like the storyline wasn't quite as cohesive as normal, but that could be just me. Honestly, some of the side stories amused me more than the main one, such as the Halloween one and the one with the Watcher. Still lots to enjoy.
Está bien ver lo que ocurre con Gwen en su universo entre medias de las pelis, pero las historias no me han terminado de convencer. Hay comics de Spiderwoman más chulos.
