Mikanagi delivered on the action and reveals with this omnibus. As Karneval builds to its inevitable conclusion (which does make me sad), I'm happy the mangaka is going back to touch on her characters' development and fill in all parties on the dramatic reveals in Omnibus 12. I'm getting to see how these characters have come to know and be comfortable around each other (less of Dr. Akari getting annoyed at Hirato and Tsukitachi because of important business and Gareki and Yogi, for example). Even Nai's new significance in the plot is becoming apparent. At this time of this review, we've got about half a year until the next (and final) omnibus drops. Where will Mikanagi take us next? Hopefully beyond that evil subplot cliffhanger.

P.S. The unexpected medical fanservice panels had me snorting.

I still like the characters - even Eliska is growing on me more than I thought possible - but the plot... it just is not working for me on any level. It's cheesy and feels like the 'big reveal' from Mass Effect and is just so blown out of proportion and it also really doesn't matter. I mean, it changes nothing but the background plotlines as nothing about our core goals actually change due to this reveal. I also suffers from a 'chosen one' setup around Nai, which I truly hate. (To end on a good note though, I do love the character development for Gareki. So, so much.)
