Some very thoughtful examples and ideas for business leaders, though probably not for a more general audience. It seemed a bit repetitive and tedious at times, then got interesting again. I'm not sure I'll remember anything about this a month from now. Maybe that is a product of listening to it rather than listening as most of the reviews thus far are quite positive. The narration was fine.

Lift by Faisal Hoque is a fantastic guide on fostering leadership. It explores the intersection of transformational leadership, systemic thinking, and experimental learning.
As the author has rightly pointed out, transformational leadership is the need of the hour. Our society has changed a lot after the pandemic and we now have new challenges and at the same time, new opportunities to work upon. We need leaders who can bring long-term innovations and solutions. At the same time, their focus must stay people-centric.
But how do we foster such leadership?
This book has discussed in great detail the four drivers of revolutionary change- the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Covid-19, climate change, and fake news. We get to read about their impact on our daily work, education, healthcare, business, and government policies. The author, Faisal Hoque, has shared his insights and observations, as well as the personal recollections, ideas, and stories of his colleagues on the impact of these four drivers. All the stories have two things in common- adaptation to change and innovation.
We get to read about the different strategies and skills that were adopted by Hoque's colleagues to ensure sustainable progress. The book has greatly focused on the importance of continuously learning new skills and building a mindset that can turn every challenge into a new opportunity for innovation and growth. You will need to pick this book right away if you too want to learn about these skills and strategies.
It's an insightful and thought-provoking read! I particularly enjoyed reading the chapter on fake news the most. It was really interesting to read about the ways one can address the challenge of misinformation. I enjoyed reading it and found it to be quite practical and helpful. This book has become one of my favorite books on leadership and innovation!😊
Lift: Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change is a guide to the future in leadership by Faisal Hoque, accompanied by Jeff Wuorio and Shelley Moench-Kelly. The book starts with an explanation of the world stage, with the past three years of the twenty-first century being especially prominent because of COVID and Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Basically, turning tides make it impossible to stand still. Shifting stands either swallow you down, or allow you the freedom to move up. Hoque then outlines the opportunities that exist in this new age, and finally concludes by stressing the importance of emotional intelligence in new leadership. I think the authors have very clear methods of explanation, and use facts and figures where necessary to support their points. I appreciate that a mistake-free leader is not what is called for, but instead one of integrity who handles themselves with dignity. The need for new leadership styles, one reason being the changes occurring to the get rich model, was interesting to read as well.
What Does It Mean to Truly Lead, Especially with The Way The World is Changing? Change is inevitable, some say that "change is nature." It's no news that the world is changing, and with the roles, people have been known to play. A world where a woman is finally allowed to lead, without prejudice, actually with the same support she'd get if she were a woman. The author brings our minds to the fact that leadership roles are not the same as they were some years ago. Aside from that, leadership itself isn't limited to a few as it has always been. Everyone can be a leader, and as such, we have more leaders today than we've had at any point in history. The author’s aim is to show readers how to lead in this day and age, irrespective of how complex, and challenging it may be. In conclusion, Lift: Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change, is an excellent read for leaders who want to understand the dynamics of leadership today.
Faisal Hoque is a technology innovator leader and advisor that is the author of this book called: Lift: Fostering The Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change. Hoque provides information and guides the readers into a much better opportunity and organization to learn and act on how to become a better leader. Focusing on what is right is key, and in this case having a better perspective of what the future holds is what will help in a long-term innovation and solution. A friend recommended this book to me, and I am glad she did. Having a book that talks about the issues we as a society find with COVID-19 was refreshing. Hoque provides tips and discuss his experience throughout the pandemic, giving hope and knowledge together. I enjoyed his writing very much so, it is easy, flexible and makes you feel welcome. I highly recommend this!
“Lift: Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change” markets itself as a book for leadership amongst a backdrop of revolutionary global change. Despite its daunting promises, the author and all contributors have succinctly delivered a three-part read gracefully outlining the causes of global change, the opportunity these changes provide and where, as well as the transformational abilities they offer.
Immediately, “Lift” opens with the four drivers of global change being addressed within: (1) the fourth industrial revolution, an interesting and believable eye opening introduction to the basis of change we find ourselves amidst, (2) the most obvious recent change, COVID-19, (3) climate change, a topic we’ve been hearing about forever, but it’s not being slowed or adequately addressed and continues to wreak havoc and drive the need for change, and lastly (4) misinformation, a topic that really took off mainstream during Trump’s time in office and the impact of it has opened the door to change and growth.
From here, the authors do a great job of identifying specifically where these changes leave the door open for opportunity, particularly as it pertains to the individual, the business, the education industry, the healthcare industry and within government. And, while some of the opportunity areas felt like “pie in the sky” dreams, especially as it pertains to the United States’ notoriously slow government, the authors provide examples of other country’s governments that have sought to address the areas of opportunity and how the U.S. can match in speed, growth, and technology, making the suggestions feel more realistic and motivating.
Adding to the primary text within, the authors have included many stock photos that don’t necessarily fit the narrative but aid in breaking up the text and offering readers pause to consider the context and insights offered. Further, each chapter offers several grayed boxes of additional content and stories to help bring the concepts to life, adding a frequent and welcome supplement to the overall chapter’s perspective.
The final section was the smallest as it tied the entirety of the read together and most aligned with the book’s purpose and promise. While sections one and two built up the idea and need for transformative leadership and emotional intelligence, the third and final section wrapped it all in a neat bow for readers to understand and use within their toolkit as the leader within them approach the revolutionary global change in which we find ourselves.
Succinct, well researched, cohesively laid out, and a strong call to action, “Lift” brings readers purpose and tools to address the changes occurring globally which will impact us all for decades to come

Lift: Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change by Faisal Hoque is a book that discusses the effects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, also known as 4IR, and the transformational change occurring amidst the global pandemic Covid 19. Hoque presents an analysis of the acceleration of change in the workplace as it transcends to a digital workplace. Transactional leadership has resulted in top-level management paying keen attention to their employees along the parameters, idealised influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individual consideration. Covid 19 caused the workplace culture to change, and business transactions have changed exponentially; the author highlights the emergence of new technology in the marketplace and its rapid acceptance. Contactless purchasing, the rise of online shopping, Apple Pay, and virtual wallets are presented with accompanying statistical data. Hoque analyses the effects the Fourth Industrial Revolution had on education and the health industry and postulates the “new normal” since there is still uncertainty about what the future will look like. "Lift: Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change" widely portrays and recommends that individuals have the common ability to impact how organisations work. Scenarios are clearly and concisely presented and enact different outcomes and ways leaders can change their methodology and thinking. Hoque has linked artificial intelligence, big data, and new technological advancements. The book analyses what's turning out badly and gives bits of knowledge about how pioneers might advance the circumstance for us all. The text is supported by research and convincing stories, the book is well referenced, and readers can access empirical data. Hoque conveys a way ahead that we must embrace since it is possible at this point. This book frames the difficulties we face in the cutting-edge world, and Hoque expertly presents viable recommendations on how these challenges can and should be addressed. This book will be a great addition to the shelves of those in leadership roles.
Overall, I enjoyed Lift. This book is a good primer for beginners and I recommend it as a fast read. I’m starting my 5th year as a small business owner and my 3rd year as a freelance contractor, so perhaps I’m not the target audience because it felt remedial, like basic common knowledge. Although, I shouldn’t take common sense for granted. I did appreciate how the book is easy to read and well-written. It read like a thoroughly researched literature review. The layout and section summaries help one to grasp the material easily and reinforce the concepts. They could have done with specific images that better encapsulate the message the authors are delivering because they felt generic and disjointed from the text at times. The first section deals with current events of 2020 and 2021 and covers the four largest issues we are tackling: the fourth industrial revolution, Covid-19, climate change, and misinformation. While it could read as a bit dated, like a time capsule, it will be interesting to see how future students and readers use this book to enhance their understanding of this tumultuous time period. Section Two is really where the business advice begins. It is broken into different industries: personal, business, education, health care, and the public sector. The last section ties it all together with the missing emotional components required for being a transformational leader as opposed to a transactional one. I enjoyed the various statistical facts and diverse viewpoints incorporated into the writing which makes it useful to readers worldwide instead of just Americans or Europeans. The personal anecdotes in the gray boxes made the content relatable and engaging. It helped to pick up the pace where it otherwise might have been dragging. There is at least one new piece of information to learn or a novel connection to be made in each of the chapters. It was worth the 8-hour investment to read and gain more than a dozen innovative insights.
🎙️What if I tell you the secret to become a transformational leader !? Would you believe it !? I beg to differ, though here in "Lift", Faisal spelled it out for you.
"In the world of explosive change and transformation leaders at all levels will offer the best opportunity for levelling change in transforming our life for the better. "
🎙️Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), emerging technologies and their interactions with one another are upending how we work, play, educate, and govern ourselves. It's not only about smart, connected machines and systems.
🎙️Let it be AI, ML and AR, Its scope is much wider as well. For instance, waves of further breakthroughs are happening at the same time in areas ranging from gene sequencing to nanotechnology to quantum computing.
🎙️It is the fusion of these technologies and their interactions across the physical, digital, and biological domains that is transforming how we work, play, live, and communicate.
📌 It's written in a very precise manner with a well articulated orientation of the information. It discusses the origin, current status and future scopes of Innovation and leadership with a very systematic approach.
📌One of the most peculiar thing that I noticed in this book was the personalized articles from people around the world from different niche, expressing their experiences and views on the very same subject.
📌 It's one the best books that I've read, offering such knowledge with a classic approach. If you are interested in creative division, leadership, public relations, and global leadership skills in modern times with a classic approach or you're a creator, entrepreneur, curious person, then this might be one of the best for you.

Great resource for business owners or people in management position.
Being a leader is not just barking orders to your subordinates or your employees, it's much more than that. “Lift” discusses what steps should be followed to be a great leader that would increase your business’ growth. It is an interesting read given that the author was an adviser to different departments of the government which means he is well organized and very systematic. The author is also an adviser to BOD and CEOS alike, so it made me feel important getting this advice from him through his book. It is very transformative, it solidified my belief in using AI or even just the technology alone in my day to day task, that really increases efficiency in my work structure. Not all things need to change, they just need to be improved. This book helped me streamline my process, create or improve goals, but also understand that collaboration is important in building work relationships and being a good leader. A must read .
In what is being called the fourth Industrial Revolution that we are living in, the lessons for leaders from previous years are increasingly becoming obsolete. Where we used to be focused upon the product and accompanies, we now need to be more focused on the people that work within the company as well as our customers. We also have to change the way we approach training, and our long-term solution to keep people within the company. All of this and so much more is addressed inside of this book. The author has clearly experience in this field I see information made sense was thought-provoking, well-researched as well as easy to understand through the examples given. I certainly think that this is a Powerhouse of a book that can help improve leaders everywhere.
In a world that is constantly changing between technology, pandemics, wars, and social dilemmas, the concept of real leadership is most than required. Faisal Hoque in "Lift: Fostering the Leader in You" gives the reader the different types of leadership there is nowadays, usually based on the same structure, which makes it fixed and predictable (transactional leadership). He developed the concept of transformational leadership, focusing on people to create positive change. This and many other work-related concepts are mentioned in this book.
I personally find leadership extremely frustrating sometimes. Being employed by several institutions and companies, I learned to tell who's doing a good job and who's getting in the way of progress and lowering team morale. I think this book is fundamental in this matter as it gives many ideas to excel and grow in the role of a Leader.
A compelling and interesting reading Faisal Hoque has penned an excellent book that will transform lives for the better. “Lift. Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change” is an informative and interesting book that will help leaders and potential ones. It´s a must. It´s true that several changes have occurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, and the so-called fourth revolution, among others. These changes involve a transformation in general, and well, the author states here the way that leadership has been modified. So, he shares his experiences and backs up everything with theory, as well. Throughout the pages, I learned a lot from his experience and vast knowledge on the topic. It´s a well-written, concise and simple to understand story. The author's ideas and pieces of advice are easy to follow. I highly recommend it.
As soon as I started reading, there were four words that came to my mind. In my opinion empathy, optimism, understanding and encouragement are the 4 columns of this book. Lift by Faisal Hoque, Jeff Wuorio and Shelley Moench-Kelly is a real uplifting book for any person who reads it. The authors of this book have amazing insights about business and people management with a down to earth perspective. One of the aspects that I liked the most was that all the complex ideas about transformational leadership are clearly and simply explained. I could understand every single concept that was presented along the book. The fact that the authors have dealt with topics such as the pandemic, the Fourth Industrial Revolution and climate change gave me the idea of such open minds, and I believe everyone should read Lift. We as society need to open up our minds and start to work for a better world.
This book tells us about how everyone is capable of being a leader, how we can foster that in such an ever-changing revolutionary world. Basically, the book touches two main topics, which are incremental: - Individual Opportunity and Empowerment. - Be Transformational.
Regarding the structure of the book, the authors, despite teaching us about self development and transformational concepts in each chapter, try to center you in the present: where you are right now in the revolutionary global change and how to face that NOW. That is something beautiful in a self-help/business book; despite trying to show how you can achieve that, they bring you back to the present and what you can do right now. The read was 100% educational, with a small complexity of vocabulary. I would highly recommend to everyone, especially to those people trying to be a leader or an entrepreneur!
The exercise of leadership is vital for any aspect of our lives, even outside the work environment. But for whoever takes on that role, it remains a challenge to balance theoretical knowledge with real-world demands. In "Lift," Hoque brings very interesting concepts for leaders at all levels to learn to deal with people and include them in a positive way.
By reading this book, you will realize that we all have the potential to be leaders, but what truly distinguishes us is our level of responsibility and commitment to achieving our full potential. Undoubtedly, what I get the most from this work is making you see that you can change the world around you; you just need effort and the necessary knowledge to achieve it.
This book will help you achieve your goals, whether you're a young person looking to develop your leadership skills or an adult looking for inspiration.
Leadership can and should be organized, and the author of this reader, who is called Faisal Hoque, taught me this. In his reader, Hoque provides plenty of useful pieces of advice for leading companies and the people who work in them.
It is worth mentioning that Faisal Hoque is a widely recognized entrepreneur and an US Federal Government advisor.
The content of this reader is not light or easy to read: I had to give it my undivided attention to understand vocabulary and follow the ideas. This book should be read by those in the business, because it is not for beginners.
What I liked the most about this reader were its enriching examples. However, I felt that the author sometimes rumbles around some ideas, and for this reason I give it three stars.
It goes without saying that life and the world are changing in unpredictable ways, now more than ever since we are still going through a pandemic and the world is stirred up by wars in 2022. Thus, being a leader around these days is quite a challenge and few people are just inherently leaders. So, that is why I decided to click and buy this book, to get enlightened into how to thrive and be a better leader during hard times.
The book is an easy read, loaded with practical ideas, data, photos that add a lot to the core of the book, personal experiences from real people and plenty of examples on how to learn and transform our current view of being a leader.
Lift is just a great book, updated and told in a down-to-earn kind of way. Recommended!
I found this book very valuable regarding the planning and organization of businesses and companies. The author focuses on the idea that any leader can maintain their position following simple principles and ideas shared and explained in this book. Nowadays, the world and society are in constant change, and more so in the business field where competition is fierce. For this reason, Faisal Hoque considered it important to help leaders at all levels sharing his experiences and the results of his investigations. I liked his writing style and the organization of the different topics in clear chapters. These chapters also contain phrases or fragments from other authors and experts in the topics. It is a very pleasant and interesting read.
This book is a real game-changer in the leadership development field. It’s also an inspirational call to action to entrepreneurs, economists and heads of important corporations. It isn’t just a book on theory. It describes actual tools and guideline to be aware of the changing nature around us and how to transform those systems. It gives lots of real-world examples and it’s full of practical and understandable advice. Faisal Hoque is an expert who has a clear thought and a clear writing that helped my comprehension in a quite difficult but interesting topic. He doesn’t use complicated language so common people can approach the book easily. I enjoyed it tremendously and I absolutely recommend it.
Change is the only constant in life and “Lift: Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change” by Faisal Hoque reflects this premise perfectly. Hoque describes how technology affected and will continue affecting our lives at all levels, from early pre-school to the rest of our existence.
It is through change that we adapt, learn, grow, and develop new capabilities to survive. We are all potential leaders, and this book provides an insight on how to take advantage of the current scenario to accomplish our goals and become the person we want to be.
Definitely, a must read, especially for Directors, CEOs, and people in chief roles. Well-written and with practical advice very helpful for leadership positions and for anyone aspiring to evolve and succeed in life.
This book is great because it gives insight into the entrepreneurial and ambitious world of business minds since covid. I think the author does a good job at addressing the issue that transformational leaders and thought processes are important for bringing about any kind of change, whether micro or macro. It was well-written, and I believe even beginners and young people could read and learn from this book. The language was easy and the book was quite interesting because it engages the reader. It feels like the author is directly reaching out and talking to you. I think the dialogues that the author introduces through this book could be useful in a post-pandemic world where the way businesses work has changed.
We live in a world that is moving fast and constantly changing. The leaders of this moment must adapt to keep their place, and so can offer the best opportunity for leveraging change and transforming our lives for the better. Faisal Hoque is the author of Lift, a book where he offers his perspective on individual and organizational leadership. I think this book is very valuable not only because it presents an interesting profile of the “transformative” leaders, but also includes and emphasizes values such as empathy and knowledge. I believe that reading and listening to those who have more experience is always a great opportunity, and this book is exactly that. It is interesting, easy to read and understand. I really liked it!
With how much the world is constantly changing, the expectation and roles of a leader are also constantly evolving and changing. While it’s understood that the responsibility is huge, it’s often underestimated at just what all goes into being an effective leader. The author breaks this down step by step in a professional structure that will give readers an idea on how to put their ideas into action for a successful leadership role. The author’s business experience gives him an advantage in this aspect and can put a readers mind at ease in knowing that they are gaining their information from a valuable source. Any business leader should invest in this book as a guide for their leadership.
Lift by Faisal Hoque fosters the leader in you amid revolutionary global change. We are all experiencing changes in the workforce in the last two years like never before. So many people had to work remotely, now we are all wondering what to do. Going back to brick and mortar seems unnecessary, but there is the point of comradely among co-workers, up-date training, and meetings. This book gives creative ways of moving workers back into the office, even for a couple of days a week. I found the author a diplomatic thinker and problem solver. His leadership skills are commendable, the kind of person employees would enjoy working with.
This middle length book gave me plenty of ideas and inspired me completely. Lift: Fostering the Leader in You Amid Revolutionary Global Change by author Hoque is a book that proposes leaders transform themselves and accompany the world that is in constant change. This read is agile and I didn’t feel it heavy. There are images, highlighted content and the information is presented clearly and in some parts divided into bullet points. I liked how everything is organized because it helps understanding. Becoming a transformational leader is essential and the author proposes just that in this read. I recommend it because it was really useful for me.
