The summer carnival has arrived at Ivory Beach, and Rory and her magical family are ready to enjoy the festivities.
At least until a vampire shows up dead, a stake in his back, and a furious Evangeline sweeps in to take over the murder investigation. Edwin, head of the police, pleads with Rory to make her see reason, but the fearsome head of the local vampires refuses to be taken for a fool. Regardless, the murder brings to mind Rory's terrifying induction to the magical world, and the group of deadly vampires set on getting their hands on the library's deepest secrets.
The recent death might have nothing to do with the Founders, but Rory refuses to take that chance. To protect her family and her newly turned vampire best friend Laney, she is determined to find answers.
Can Rory manage to cooperate with the terrifying head of the local vampires to catch a killer, or will she find herself in an early grave?
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
Vampires & Verses is Book 10 in the Library Witch Series by Elle Adams. This is such a fun and great series. Rory has a lot going on in this story, but she always keeps a level head.
There is a vampire murdered and the head of the vampires is not happy about the police investigation and Rory serves as a middleman so to speak.
I really enjoy Rory and the Xavier's romance; it is unique and different since he is the reaper apprentice.
I really love this series, but I really disklike Cass's character. I have from the first book. She is one of those characters that we love to hate, and I appreciate the tension that it creates in the book.
The mystery was fantastic. Look forward to the next book in this magical series.
The previous book does not end on a cliffhanger for once, so I thought about just stopping or at least pausing this series. Then I started listening to a Regency murder mystery whose main character was so obnoxious and judgmental that I actually decided to come back to these books as more pleasant somehow. Crazy.
I almost immediately regretted it because everyone is even more idiotic than usual. For one thing, they find a vampire body, killed by being staked in the heart. Somehow, he did not turn to a pile of ashes, and nobody fucking mentions it. What the fuck. I hate this author's complete inability to have any consistency in her worldbuilding.
Not to mention that in both this book and the previ0us one Cass is even more pigheaded and irritating than usual. She's so bitchy and unfair in her treatment of Lainey, and she's barely better towards Rory. She makes the book extremely unpleasant to read because reading about someone who's so selfish and mean-spirited is just... ugh. And Sylvester's barely any better. He's just a maliciously assholish creature, and it's not like his true nature gives him any excuse to be that way.
This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. If uncast of characters and an entertaining storyline. A family which is who live in a magical library in a paranormal town in the UK. Rory and her cousins and aunts protect the library and always seem to help figure out who’s causing issues in crimes around town. Very entertaining and a fun read. Check it out
Having read the rest of this series, I have to admit I've gotten hooked on the characters and their daily dramas. I look forward to the next installment. this is the first time I wasn't ten steps ahead of the writer with regard to solving the mystery. She's definitely developing more finesse in her plots. The writing has begun to flow better as the writer is doing more storytelling and keeping us in the moment of the story itself, and less explaining. In a nutshell, the series seems to be maturing along with the writer's voice. it really is a delightful, clean, and light-hearted mystery series that I can count on to engage me just enough to forget to worries of the day and not suck me in too hard. Although this one was harder to put down. This series is one I wish I'd had to read to my child in their early tween years.
I'm really enjoying this series. This is the 10th in the series and it's not lost its magical zing. Rory and her aunts, cousins and bestie turned vampire, Mandy are enjoying the carnival their magical library is sponsoring when a vampire is found staked dead on the beach. Who could sneak up on a vampire well enough to kill him? Evangeline, vampire leader, is furious. Rory owes her a favour so offers to help find the killer. Not a friend but not quite an enemy to Rory, Evangeline negotiates for Rory help. Aunts and cousins get involved as they suspect the dangerous vampire group, the Founders are involved. They violently thrust Rory into the magical world as well as turned her best friend, Laney into vampire. But will Evangeline help or hinder their efforts to discover who killed one of her own?
Magic, a magical library, family , mystery and figuring out who you are
I really enjoyed reading this book. I wouldn't say that it is the most awesome literary work ever but I love reading this series as quickly as I can. This series is about a young woman who feels lost and alone but finds a family, magic and a job she loves. In this book Rory works with some unexpected sources to solve the mystery and ensure a good outcome for those that she cares about. I'm not great at giving reviews but let me assure you that this was definitely a fun read!
It is carnival time for the town and as the host, the library (mainly Estelle) must man the carnival and the library. It turns out to be quite the task when a fairly newly turned vampire shows up dead on the beach and Laney is questioned by Evangeline. Another fine mess that Rory must help solve by working with both the police and the vampires. Can she make it all work and figure out the killer without anyone else dying?
Good book, I highly recommend it and am looking forward to the next one.
At the annual carnival a vampire ends up dead, staked through the back. Evangeline and Edwin fight over who has jurisdiction over the investigation and Rory gets caught in the middle. In the midst of this battle, two of Rory's family members are kidnapped by the bad vampires and she needs the help of the good vampires (if you can consider these dangerous folks good) to save them. This book is more suspenseful that most of the previous ones because Rory and Cass must go undercover among the vampires to save their family.
At some point someone got to have written a book where the FL isn't an idiot and always getting in over her head then save the day by an inch. Its book 10 and we still know nothing about her dad book, she still crap at magic and we still know nothing about the vampire in the basement. Really think its time the author start clearing up some of these unanswered questions rather than give us more questions.
This book continues the story of Rory Hawthorne and her family of biblio-witches. It is creatively written and hard to put down. This reader would like to see Rory complete her interpretation of her father's journal instead of dragging it out through so many books. Looking forward to Boom 11.
Great characters-interesting personalities we have witches, vampires and shifters with a little extra thrown in. We have a budding romance between a witch and an apprentice Grim Reaper to look forward to.
Rory is once again at the scene of a murder. Someone is staking vampires in back and Lanney is a suspect. Evangeline and Edwin both want Rory to help them by being the go between for them..
This is the second to the last book in the series available in kindle unlimited at this time it is a wonderful book and a credit to the series I can't wait for books to read

vampires and verses by elle Adams. Evangeline is my favourite character in this series she may be a b!tch but at least she gets things done lol. the mystery in this one was on point
A recently turned vampire is found at the beach with a stake through his heart, from the back. Rory and Evangeline need to stop this threat to the town.
