Jack

In my perfect world it would always be winter and never Christmas.

I despise the holiday. I hate carols, shopping, and pretending to be a perfect family.

I walked away from my family, or rather they walked away from me.

My heart is like ice—

See it creeping up the walls.

Oh, wait, no, that’s royal icing.

I never should have allowed the Great Christmas Bake-Off to film in my tower.

And I never, ever, should have agreed to be a judge.

Chloe

I love Christmas! I love sparkly window decorations, heartwarming holiday movies, and themed coffee.

Most of all I love Christmas baking.

Even though his company is sponsoring the bake-off show, billionaire Jack Frost claims he hates sweets.

But after he tastes my goods I know he'll come begging for more.

And wouldn't you know it, that night Jack Frost asked me to come up to his penthouse and give him a special taste of my Christmas cookies.

Against my better judgement I went…

I baked him my signature gingerbread cookies and of course he ate them up!

It should have been a Christmas miracle, but Jack Frost couldn't have come into my life at a worse time.

Not only am I broke, but this was my first Christmas after my Oma died.

Someone is trying to sabotage me in the Great Christmas Bake-Off.

I'm being stalked by a mall Santa.

Sleeping with one of the judges is a disaster waiting to happen. I needed Jack and his washboard abs about as much as I needed that third sticky bun.

But when he says in his deep, sexy voice, "Can you make me some more cookies?" well stick a candy cane in me I'm done.

Eating her Christmas Cookies is a standalone holiday novel. This 90,000 word steamy romance novel has no cliffhangers but does have a very happily ever after.

oh my god this was absolutely atrocious. lemme show you some of my notes from this book:

-chloe accepts lingerie from fans and wears it on her Instagram that she has dedicated to baking??
-chloe and jack have literally 0 chemistry
-jack calls chloe fat at the beginning and i guess that’s just fine???
-jack can apparently only say “fuck you’re so tight” during sex. nothing else. on the spice scale he is the equivalent of a saltine cracker.

some questions i have about this book:
-why?
-who read this and said “yeah let’s publish it!”?
-who are the people on the cover supposed to be? jack has white blonde hair and chloe has blonde hair?

some quotes from the book that were especially heinous:
-“I don’t know why your name is Jack Frost, because you’re smoking hot” said randomly for essentially no reason?
-“I came so hard I sang christmas carols” see what i mean by heinous?
-“you’re mine. i don’t care if you’re stalked by santas, you’re all mine.” ok so jack is NOT concerned about the random santas stalking her cool cool cool cool cool alright alright alright
-he kissed me, the slit giving him an all access pass to my pleasure center. JAIL. STRAIGHT TO JAIL.

in conclusion, i definitely lost brain cells just by reading this book.

EMILIE SAYS "WHAT?!"
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• There is a female STALKER that the male lead won't do anything about EXCEPT when he pays a homeless man outside his building $50/day to "keep her away from him"! WHAT?!! Okay...that's freaking dangerous.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• The female lead also gets non-stop attacked/followed/bothered by various Santas all around NYC...? I just...WHAT?! It's ridiculous.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• The illustrated characters on the cover of this book DON'T match the description of the characters in the story. Like, literally different hair color. Once again I say....WHAT?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• During one of their first interactions the Male lead tells the female lead she needs to "lay off the cookies" while looking her up and down. Yeah. He called her FAT. And she just let that go. I'm sorry...WHAT?!! And may I add an OH, HELL NO!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Within one day of knowing her the Billionaire male hands the heroine his PLATINUM CREDIT CARD and tells her to buy stuff to decorate the lobby of his manhattan building. Ummmm....WHAT?!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• The heroine shows up at the Hero's door in just skimpy lingerie at one point. NOT covered by a coat or anything. Like, how did she get there? She just waltzed through the hallways and took the elevator up to the penthouse dressed in crotchless panties?!! WHAT?!!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• The leads have sex multiple times with no mention of condoms/protection/or STIs. Is this the year 2020 because...WHAT?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• The heroine is a food instagrammer and is trying to start her own bakery. She accepts gifts of LINGERIE from UNKNOWN FANS and then puts on the lingerie, snaps photos, and POSTS THEM ON INSTAGRAM. This happens multiple times. Say WHAT?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• This story is about a cooking competition and there are ENTIRE PAGES of minutely-detailed food descriptions. It's ridiculous. This book dragged on for sooooo looonnnng I finally gave up because WHAT?!

Eating Her Christmas Cookies is more like book of Christmas recipe. Especially for cookie and sweet dessert. I appreciate the tips on baking.
Now on the story alone, it feels mediocre for me.

The brooding hero, Jack got under the heroine's spell. Chloe is a talented chef. She loves Christmas. Everything about Christmas way too much. While Jack is on the opposite end. Miss Jacobs done her best to put fun banter on the plot. But it feels flat in the middle. I admit I skip several minutes on the audiobook.

Overall this book is OK read. Not liking it nor hate it.

Baking Challenge and more

Since I love Cupcake Wars and challenges on Food Network I loved this spin! I don’t really mesh too much though because IRL there would’ve been some drama with contestant getting with judge so there was a disconnect. So there were some plot holes (I did say a lot where the heck did that come from and that was quick) but still the story line was pretty good. I would love a back story of Bella, and Matt, so it does give set ups for some additional stories…

This book was.... okayish? I wasn't all that into it, but I also didn't hate it. It read like a movie with scene jumping to the point that it irritated me. One minute, we'd be at a meeting with Jack talking about his tower, and the next line we'd be cuddling on the couch next to Chloe. The storyline was great, but also kinda cliché in my opinion. Chloe is a contestant on a Christmas baking show who happens to fall in love with the rich owner of the tower they're filming in. Who also happens to be a judge.
While there was a lot wrong with this book, there were also a lot of really good qualities. This book had romance, drama, comedy, and a few spicy scenes. The romance was a show burn, but when it got there, it was there full force. So, all in all, I had mixed feelings, I don't plan on reading anymore of this series, but I also am sorta glad I did read this book.

i really should trust my instinct; judge a book by its title. actually, i don't really have problem with the title; it's ambiguous but this book is supposed to be christmas' rom-com, right? and i already prepare myself for a lot of sexy scenes, but i didn't expect the characters would be purely asshole and misogynistic. not only the men, but the women also.

usually, i can handle problematic characters, but i think this book really tests my patience. i wish i could like this book because i'm really in the mood for holiday rom-com, but i am sorry, i couldn't.

Fabulous romance

Great H, likable h, baker-meets-billionaire; all the potential in the world of being a great romance. But, like so many ‘romance’ writers these days, romance was not enough.
Here a stalker, there a stalker, everybody gets a stalker. You know how it is. Happens to us all now and then. Ridiculous. By the time we got to the bag-over-the-head kidnapping, I’d had enough. At the 88% point, I still wasn’t invested in this nonsense to the point I couldn’t put it down. So, I deleted it from my kindle, and will move on. If you are a big fan of Scooby Doo Mysteries, this ‘romance’ may be right up your alley. I don’t care for them, myself.

This was spicy rom-com that made me laugh. Was or spectacular? Of course not, but it kept me interested and following the story and wanting to read more, which is more than other Christmas books this year. This year, the Christmas books have really been hit or miss.

There is A LOT going on in this book. Honestly a little too much in my opinion. It starts of great, with a classic grumpy/sunshine trope and progresses into a cute and fun rom com feel. Then by 40% (ish) into the book it sort of just plateaus and falls flat and gets repetitive. Then the craziness happens, and that’s a bit over the top honestly. I feel like this would have been a better book if some of the drama and plot lines were not there and the book was shorter than it was.

I wanted a nice Christmas story - a predictable romance was fine. Just something light and fun. This was trash. The characters are one dimensional at best. The villains are caricatures of mentally ill narcissists. The budding relationship between Jack and Chloe has no depth and can’t last - he can’t even be creative with his sexuality talk. We know she has poor judgement and a tight vagina. He is as frosty as his name until he falls into lust with her. Very disappointing

Wow, this is bad....
Bad writing, bad characterization, baaad dialogue...
The only parts that were actually readable were the baking contest bits. The rest is truly terrible. Both characters have stalkers and nobody does anything. Online fans send Chloe literal lingerie, and she wears it post photos in...ew.
Jack's character makes zero sense. I think he's supposed to be brooding, but he's just a jerk.. and his family drama is bizarre.
I tried skimming but even that wasn't tolerable.

1.5 stars. Ooof. Not the romcom Christmas story I was hoping for. The author really said let’s put every plot point imaginable in this.

A diabetes joke; casual stance on stalking, child neglect, and mental health concerns; and Jack’s parents saying they chose his stalker ex-girlfriend who is in need of professional mental health help as his “mate” gave me major ick vibes.

This book was pretty predictable cheesy garbage that turned into pure porno partway through. I guess I haven't read a romance novel in a while. Still, I enjoyed it enough to finish it.

When this book first came out, I let some negative reviews steer me away from reading it. Now that I’ve read it and enjoyed it for myself, I’m seriously regretting my original decision to pass on it. Chloe and Jack are absolutely hilarious together. They tried to fight their attraction to one another, but not very hard and the situations they land themselves in could only happen to this pair. Jack’s family life has shown him it’s better to have no feelings at all than to be hurt by them and at this point he has no use for the whole Christmas season. Chloe’s a regular Sugar Plum Fairy. Everything about her is ‘sugar and spice and everything nice’. And Christmas is her very favorite time of year. Watching this pair of opposites find common ground had me laughing through the whole book – with a spit-take or two along the way. I love seeing all the sibling connections in this story and I’m seriously looking forward to reading more about the Frosts.
I read a borrowed copy of this book.

It kind of makes me laugh when I think about how bad this book was. What I was hoping for was a nice little festive romance but what I got was 400+ pages of complete crap. There were so many dropped storylines, absolutely TERRIBLE dialogue, childish writing, the list goes on and on. I can’t count the number of times I internally screamed THIS IS SO STUPID but maybe I’m the stupid one because I kept reading it. The ONLY reason I chose not to DNF is because I’m trying to reach my book goal by the end of the year and by the time I realized how utterly awful this was going to be, I was 50% done and had to just fight for my life and sanity through the rest. This is the first in this series of books but I would rather stab myself with a dull candy cane than read another book in this series.

Endless cookie innuendos: ✅
Plotlines that are reused from previous novels: ✅
15-20 new characters that come out of nowhere and have no real bearing on the story: ✅
Interchangeable sex scenes with words flipped from chapter to chapter: ✅

Alina Jacobs has a formula, this one follows it like everyone before it. It's fine. I can stomach them.

This one has a blonde woman so I was kind of surprised at that one, considering I wasn't sure if Alina Jacobs was aware that women exist who have other hair colors than brown or black.

Oof. This one was a struggle to get through.

One positive – the baking stuff was actually pretty spot on. That was the only aspect of the book I enjoyed, unfortunately.

screaming wheezing throwing up

Okay, well… I didn’t go in with high expectations, but I still ended up enjoying it enough to keep reading. The beginning had promise, though the middle felt flat and overstuffed, and the conclusion didn’t quite deliver the impact I wanted. Even so, the mix of baking tips, festive charm, and rom‑com chaos made it a decent holiday escape.

Eating Her Christmas Cookies blends holiday baking with rom‑com antics, but the execution is uneven. Chloe, a Christmas‑obsessed chef competing on a holiday baking show, falls for Jack—the brooding tower owner and judge who’s her opposite in every way. Their grumpy/sunshine dynamic starts strong, with fun banter and a slow‑burn romance that eventually hits full force, but the pacing stumbles. The story often jumps scenes abruptly, plateaus midway, and then piles on drama that feels excessive and repetitive.

The book offers romance, comedy, drama, and a few spicy moments, but it’s also predictable and cliché at times. The sabotage and stalking teased in the blurb barely show up, and Jack’s backstory is stretched out until late in the book. Some side character mentions seem connected to other stories, but they don’t always land clearly here. The audio version adds another layer of confusion by combining novellas about Jack and Chloe (Eating Her Baked Goods and Eating Her on New Year’s Eve, but confusingly not Eating Her Wedding Cake), while the ebook keeps them separate.

Overall, though, it’s a spicy holiday rom‑com with laughs and festive vibes, weighed down by too many plotlines and uneven pacing. Not spectacular, not a favorite, but entertaining enough to finish. Especially if you’re craving Christmas cookies, cheesy drama, and a dash of holiday romance. 🎄🍪✨

Big thanks to Tim Paige and Neva Navarre for their narration. Even though it wasn’t in duet style, they still managed to keep me fully engaged with the story. Their voices captured the humor and heart of Chloe and Jack, making the listen feel lively and fun.

I have enough patience and curiosity to keep going with this series. There are five Frost brothers—one down, four more to go. Next up is Owen, and even though there’s no hint yet about who he’ll encounter, I’m eager to find out. So yes, I’m diving straight into Tasting Her Christmas Cookies like it owes me answers. 💥🏃🏻‍♀️

Despite all the low star reviews - which I do agree with - the first half of this book was a 5 star read to me simply because I love books that have cooking/baking competitions in them 😅 but dude, the second half was so ridiculously bad.

What I liked:
- the baking aspect and how they described the baked goods
- the competition aspect
- it did feel Christmasy
- the main make character’s name was Jack Frost lol
- I liked and disliked her but Hartleigh was funny to me
- Milo

What I didn’t like:
- Jack should never have been allowed to be a competition judge. He said some straight up mean things to competitors which is unacceptable. He was very biased
- the show would never allow a romance between a contestant and a judge!! Nor would they allow mid season interviews with morning shows!!
- it was kind of weird reading about Chloe being an influencer. She was sent outfits from followers in which she’d take photos in them and then post them. But she only got one package a day? She must have been posting on onlyfans based on the outfits she was getting.
- was there actually chemistry between Chloe and Jack?
- there were 3 instances of things breaking on set - including the deep fryer catching on fire - and they didn’t even bat an eye! Jack’s engineers would “look into it” but nothing came of it. C’mon, give me the scandals - we know who did it!
- Chloe is straight up stupid going to Jack’s parents.
- Dr. Frost wanted to bring Chloe home and care for her in the chance she was carrying his grandchild and so Jack could figure things out with Hartleigh. This is so creepy and icky!
- a company only wanted to become a tenant if Chloe would open a restaurant in the building made no sense to me. She’s not a chef, and she’s never worked in a restaurant and your expecting her to own and run one?! Stop.
- WTF are soup muffins.
- why was this book so long?

Jack hates Christmas, BETH loves it ...what is not to love?? i mean come on??! I love baking. Try new recipes every year. This is a broke baker hoping to change those odd by entering a baking competition??! Jack - Mr. Billionaire. a fun, funny, suspenseful and heartwarming read. well developed characters. great read. must read. What is European butter, can we Americans not get this? i was happy to see there is a recipe ... i mean it is a baking book ...you or at least i feel you should have at least one recipe available ... thank goodness that did happen. I really liked this book. It was cute. I didn’t expect it to be as quirky as it was- but found it really enjoyable. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five-

When two adults, who act like adults, can solve a lot it their problems with a single honest conversation- that drives me nuts.

I’m my life, I’m probably TOO honest- regularly. So reading about people who constantly skirt issues, makes me a little batty.

Also, the middle dragged a bit.

I started off liking the book. I felt like the main characters were funny. But then…after the first 10 very tiny chapters (who in the world needs chapters to be this small), it just slowly started losing my interest. The writing felt choppy, I really dislike the short chapters and holy heck was it chaotic with a bajillion storylines.

Too much going on and too scattered brained. I will not be continuing the series because of it.

Heinous. Atrocious. Horrid. Was this book an AI experiment or something? Because what the actual fuck was that.

* Zero chemistry between the main characters
* Who the hell are the people on the cover? Def not Jack and Chloe who are both BLONDE
* Why is Hartleigh allowed to just be insane? Is Jack not concerned by her stalking him?
* New book ick discovered this year: reading from the pov of an influencer🥴

This book would have been so much more bearable if it wasn’t over 400 pages long.

The story was cute. I knew that it was a romance book, so it would have sex scenes in it, but I was very disappointed in their quality. They weren't sexy or romantic, they were just crude. I kept skipping those parts to get back to the cute story. To me, it would have been much better if those parts were more romantic.
