Rate this book
Do you believe in ghosts? In his years of travel writing and research, Dr. Robin Mead has found that people are almost equally divided between believers in ghosts and those who think ghost stories are just that--entertaining stories. In Haunted Hotels in America , you'll find a state-by-state guide to the lodgings that cheerfully admit to having an intangible guest or two. Like the spirits themselves, the stories are extraordinarily varied. Some are sad. Some are puzzling. A few are even funny. As you uncover these incredible mysteries, you'll also learn more From the mischievous Victorian children that linger in the hallways of the Gingerbread Mansion Inn in Ferndale, California to "Old Seth" Bullock, the first sheriff of Deadwood, South Dakota, who still keeps a watchful eye on the Bullock Hotel that bears his name, Haunted Hotels in America is chock full of frights and delights. Ready to plan your next paranormal adventure? Let Haunted Hotels in America be your guide along the way.

If you are looking for fun places to visit in each state - these haunted hotels are going to give you a great roadmap of some fun places to visit as you make your way through the different states.

I enjoyed reading through this book and learning some fun new places to visit and adding to a haunted road map on things to see as you travel.

Interesting read, and some fun new facts about each place.

This book is more of a travel guide than an in-depth collection of ghost stories. A collection of hotels are described, organized by state, and a brief discussion of the ghosts that reside there. Interesting, but not what I was looking for.

Since I've been interested in the paranormal for over 20 years, this book was a must. It's well-written, you learn about the history of the hotels, inns and B&B. Each mentioned hotel has one or multiple ghosts. The author has a great attention to detail, has good descriptions skills and gives you the chills at the same time.
There were some must-sees, like the Stanley Hotel and the Hawthorne Hotel. The author even provides the address and website so that you can check in.
So if you wish to learn not only about gorgeous places to stay from Alabama to Wyoming, but not afraid of being visited by a ghost, this book is a must have.

Audiobook.

I couldn't figure out whether this book was supposed to be a travel guide or a gook about ghosts. It almost seemed to talk more about the hotels and their amenities more than the actual ghosts. Add to that the fact that the author tried to cram as many haunted hotels into this book as they could, which didn't leave much time for each hotel. I would have liked the author to focus on just a few hotels and gone more in-depth with the ghost stories, since this is supposed to be a book about haunted hotels.

This book was supposed to be scary but it wasn’t at all. I actually liked the listen to it because it makes me wanna travel the country. But I recommend this book for whoever loves the paranormal.

As an audiobook, this is a very dull listen. However, I definitely added a few places to my bucket list!
