A standalone novella from New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy!
Maid-of-honor Emilia is looking for some stress-busting fun the night before her best friend’s wedding. And what’s more fun than a no-strings hook-up? Good thing there’s an app for that, and she’s in luck—the sexy stud she swipes right on is more than happy to fulfill all her needs. Her hot night with “Dirk” is everything she knew it would be.
A New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and holds a B.A. in English from York University. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a writer, and actively began pursuing that dream when she was a teenager.
Elle currently writes for various publishers. She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes, and just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting!
I was supposed to be sleeping but ended up having this one off my list.
Say Yes is a story of one commitmentphobic with a man she had mindblowing sex with on the day before her best friend's wedding... Only to be surprised when she found out that the man she's sleeping with was the groom. The plot was supposed to be predictable but I still did not see it coming; which I guess it was just me pinning one's hope on the drama lol.
The book ends adorably though as I definitely did not foresee Elle Kennedy to pull that epilogue. For a short story, this was a fun and quick read.
I got this little novella for free and I absolutely LOVED it!
Emilia and “Dirk” is the funniest and at the same time hottest couple.
When Emilia decides to have an one night stand the night before her best friend's wedding, she never imagined that she would sleep with the groom! That lying cheating bastard not only he betrayed her best friend, but the next day he pretends that he doesn't know Emilia!
I totally recommend it if you like RomCom! Read it and you will not stop giggling.
3,5. Historia cortita y supersexy con la que pasar un buen rato. Cierto que la trama no es la más original de este mundo, pero Elle Kennedy es una de esas autoras con las que disfruto mucho (casi) siempre.
What a satisfying, hilarious romp! I would give this short excerpt 8 stars out of 5! I wish this could be developed into a full length story - Emilia and Evan just rock! Only Elle Kennedy can do sexual sophistication like this - fun and smoking hot, with just a few choice words. Every "juicy" scene that Elle Kennedy writes literally smoulders off the page! Can't wait for The Play!
**Synopsis:** Not looking for a long term relationship, Emilia decides to shop for a little hook up while she’s in town for a wedding. ~ “I’m still a red-blooded woman who needs to get laid sometimes. And this is the perfect opportunity for a no-strings, anonymous hook-up. I checked into the Blue Valley Lodge a day early for this precise reason, since I knew that once all the wedding chaos began, I wouldn’t have time to indulge.”
~“Where are all the hot men who are DTF? I swear, it’s getting harder and harder to find an actual hook-up partner on this app.”
When “Dirk” pops up on the app, she swipes right and finds they are a match. Once they start chatting, they quickly get to the point and plans are made for a hot night of passion. ~“This isn’t eHarmony or Match.com. We both know what this particular app is for, and we’re both on it at . . . hmmm, 11:18 pm, which is well into booty call territory. So what do you say we cut the small talk and tell each other what we really want?”
**The following are my thoughts about this book: ** * * maybe I’m a prude (I don’t think so -lol) but the whole premise of sex with a random stranger you just found on an app sits a bit outside my comfort zone. An app to meet strangers for dating can be scary enough (hello….. stranger danger). But an app to actually sleep with a stranger just seems even more scary (hello…..serial killer). Yes I have a vivid imagination. 😬😛
* * predictable. Even from the blurb I knew exactly what was going to happen.
* * why did Marcy think Emilia was her best friend? And why did she ask her to be her maid of honor?? From my vantage point, Emilia seemed selfish. Marcy invited Emilia to game nights, video chats, trivia etc and Emilia was always ghosting her former best friend. I wasn’t impressed with Emilia. ~ ”Hey,” she chides gently, “I send you Facebook invites for everything, Em.” Guilt pricks my stomach. She’s right. She does. Trivia nights at the pub, board games at their apartment, the engagement party I was out of town for. “I’m sorry I haven’t been around much the last couple years,” I say quietly.”
* * And, on top of being a crappy friend for two years before the wedding, she actually leaves the wedding reception before the bride and groom. She’s the maid of honor - isn’t she supposed to see her friend off?? ~“I skip out early on the reception. Normally I’d feel guilty, but I don’t think Marcy even notices when I leave the ballroom. I’m happy Marcy got her happily-ever-after, but I’m too exhausted to stick around and witness it.” ~ Spoiler Alert…..Marcy noticed.
Ugh!!!! The heroine just seemed really selfish to me.
* * this is a very short story (less than 100 pages). Therefore, character growth and story depth are lacking.
**Overview:** - Content Warning: None - Setting: Colorado - POV: told only from Emilia’s POV. Outside of bedroom conversation and asking Emilia on a date, the Hero was pretty absent from the story.
- Who is the Hero? Evan (aka Dirk) (age: 32). Criminal lawyer. * The following words/phrases were used to describe Hero: forthright, sexy, smoldering, thrives under stress * H likable? What little I knew of him, I liked .
- Who is the Heroine? Emilia (age: 31). Graphic Designer * The following words/phrases were used to describe Heroine: honest, outspoken, scared of love, a coward * h likable? I didn’t like her.
- h virgin? No - First time they kiss: Chapter 3 - First time they sleep together: Chapter 3 - Safe sex? Yes. Condoms were used. - First time they say I Love You they don’t - steamy? descriptive bedroom scenes - OW/OM drama? No - H/h cheat? No - Time apart? No - Did I skip pages? No - Big secrets? No - Did I cry? No - Did I laugh? No - Did I swoon🥰? No - Cliffhanger? No - HEA? The epilogue is a snapshot of the “Save The Date” announcement. So I guess it has a HEA. - Epilogue? a picture - Recommend? i like this author, but I was underwhelmed with this short story.
**Quotes** “I told you, last night was a one-time thing. I don’t need to be constantly reminded of it with you looking at me like a horny hyena.”
“I want to take you out when we’re back in D.C. “Why do you want this date so bad?” I ask curiously. “Because I find you fascinating. You make me laugh. You turn me on. All of the above.” He shrugs. “Say yes, Emilia.”
This book is basically about a woman with marriage as the last thing on her mind. But she is in a hotel room alone swiping through different guys pictures to pick one she would hook up with
They have great sex all night only for her to realize that he is the twin brother of the groom.

Say Yes by Elle Kennedy was a super quick, witty, and hilarious story, but I just wish it was a bit longer. I have never read a book by this author before, but i'm glad I picked this one up. I will definitely check out this authors other books.
Emilia and Marcey used to be super close, but then became distant with each other when Emilia landed her new job, so when Marcey asked Emilia to be her maid-of-honor how could she say no? Emilia is looking for some stress busting fun the night before her best friends wedding, and what's no more fun than a no-strings hookup? Emilia and Dirk met on a app that fills her needs when they realize they are staying in the same hotel. Emilia and Dirk had a fun night, but the next morning Emilia realizes Dirk looks exactly like the groom-to-be.
"Say Yes" by Elle Kennedy was just what I needed for an in-between book read. It was short and fast-paced yet still charming and witty. The little twist at the beginning really had me for a minute. As usual, this author is always spot-on with spice, too.
Despite being short, I still relished every bit of it. Also, I love the FMC's name - IYKYK. 💕
FYI: this one is definitely on the rated R side 🌶️✨
This was the most adorable book and it had me laughing all over the place!!! I really want this to be longer though because i fell head over heels in love with it. I just had such a solid time with this one. It is a super short novella, at 64 pages I believe or you can listen on Audible Plus. I found this to be such a fun delight to listen to even though it had a trope I don't care for too much. But the author, why do I doubt her, delivered completely for me. And it had the type of ending I prefer on such a quick read here. She really handled all aspects so well. The chemistry is HOT! Fair Warning, she really knows how to deliver on the steamy scenes. And it became so easy to relate with these characters. I just fell so hard for them.
Super short and steamy novella by the lovely Elle Kennedy! I got this for free (maybe from her newsletter?) and it was the perfect length for what I had time for today!
Say Yes was adorably fun! I love that it's not too smutty, but definitely hot. I guessed the twist right ahead of its revelation, but it didn't make it less exciting.
I'm only giving it 4 stars because a few sentences were making me cringe. They could've been written/expressed better.
That was such a great read! It was funny and super exciting! Wish there was more. I loved Emilia. She was super honest and that was a breath of fresh air. It was amazing. I loved it. Elle always rocks!
