Theo asks her to pretend to be his girlfriend before his brother walks in and against all logic and reason, she agrees. But when meeting Theo's brother turns into her attending his brother's wedding weekend in Hawaii, Cate and Theo make a deal. She'll pretend to be his girlfriend for the wedding and meet his entire family, if he goes to her company's New Year’s Eve party as her date, showing her ex-boyfriend that she's moved on.Once the year ends, so will their relationship. But when they're forced to spend more time together than originally agreed upon, Cate starts to wonder if she'll be able to walk away, or if what started off as fake could be turning into something real.

Storytelling is in Morgan Gauthier’s blood; She can’t seem to turn her brain off at night and some of her best ideas have come to her in the shower.

Born to two book-loving parents, Morgan was raised on a healthy diet of The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Nancy Drew, and any fantasy book she could get her hands on. She started writing her own stories at eleven years old and hasn’t looked back.

Wolves of Adalore was her first self-published YA Fantasy title and since then, she has published a Contemporary Romance (Aloha, Seattle) with the second YA Fantasy installment in the Mark of the Hunter Trilogy (The Red Maiden) coming in April of 2022.

Morgan Gauthier lives in East Tennessee with her husband and best friend, Brad, with their three children, Remi, Archer, and Roux (who are 4 years old and younger!). If five people wreaking havoc in the same house wasn’t enough, Morgan also has three dogs, Potter, Skye, and Bubba, and one grumpy bird named Titus.

If Morgan isn’t writing or reading, she can be found binge watching Netflix shows, attempting to cook like Gordon Ramsay (not even close to his level), and practicing archery.

Sweetest Story I've ever read!

Reading a romantic comedy for the first time was a delightful experience, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Theo and Catalina make the cutest couple I've ever seen, and they are perfect for each other. Both characters are intelligent, humorous, and competitive, which made the story even more engaging. From the first page to the end, I was hooked. The story also includes references to the TV show Friends, such as the yellow painted frame on the door and lobsters. Théo's family is loving and adoring towards Cate, and her friends are reminiscent of Monica and Joey, bickering like an old couple. The story features fake dating, a handsome chef as the male lead, a fierce flight attendant as the female lead, a lovable found family and friends, jesters, longing and angst, strangers to lovers, and takes place in Hawaii. The story is filled with plenty of witty banter and is an overall cute and enjoyable read.

You're in a coffee shop, minding your own business when a gorgeous man calls your name. He explains he's meeting his brother to introduce them to his girlfriend … but she's made up, and you've got the right name.

What do you do?

For Cate, it's the beginning of the game of a lifetime as she's whisked away to a family wedding with her new fake boyfriend Theo - but soon enough nobody is sure what's real anymore.

"I am the stupid girl in the romcom movies people shake their heads at. Life is not like the movies. What am I doing?"

Aloha, Seattle is a funny, silly, feel-good romance full of ridiculous mishaps and hilarious characters. Using my favourite trope of romance, the fake-date, and adding her own flair, Morgan has definitely made a splash on her first jump into the world of romance.

The relationships in this book were wonderful - the friendships and families were beautiful and I adored seeing such loving, close relationships between people that aren't a couple.

An ultra-geeky, playful and sickeningly sweet romance - if you're looking for your next romcom, say Aloha Seattle!

(Note - there's a few comments made between characters in this story that some readers may find racially insensitive and could cause discomfort.)

Hell. and broomsticks! 3.5 stars
There was some curtness in this book, kinda like Spanish Love Deception.. but I don't like relationships based on physical attraction ..as the main thing before compatibility
So, the story begins before Christmas when Cate was sitting in a cafe reading her book when someone shouts her name, she looks around and meets Theo, he begs her to pretend to be his girlfriend because he told his family that he has a girlfriend named Cate, and in Exchange he can attend with her the New Years Party she was dreading all year, so together they fly to Hawaii and pretend they are a couple in preparation for Theo's brother wedding .. but love gets in the way
it really gave me "The Unhoneymooners vibe" but with much more "naughty" thoughts, I didn't like either Cate or Theo, they worked well with each other but their personalities weren't as charming .. I simply didn't care about them .. Theo's family were the star of the show really and I cared about Tess much more than Cate TBH

Aloha, Seattle was a fake dating romance that I fell head over heels in love with.  The story was entertaining, the characters were memorable, and I found myself smiling from that first page to the last.  This was my first book by Morgan Gauthier, and I definitely plan on reading all of her backlist!
And there it is. For a moment I forgot I was there to deceive them. I am here to fulfill my end of the bargain. I gulp down my feelings and nod.

Cate and Theo’s meet cute was so adorable!  Theo told his family he was dating someone named Cate, so when he yelled her name in the coffee shop and she responded, I couldn’t stop smiling.  In walked Theo’s brother, and their fake dating games began.  By that second chapter I kept finding myself laughing, this book made me so happy!
“Wow.” I take the drink and stare at my feet. “First you remember the book I was reading when we first met and now my coffee order. If I knew any better,” I look up at him through my lashes, “I’d think you were trying to impress me.”
“Maybe I am.”

Theo was a Greek famous chef who was such a sweetheart.  I loved how thoughtful he could be, like making plans for Thanksgiving so she wouldn’t be alone.  And I loved how he remembered stuff when it came to Cate.  So when his protective side came out, I was swooning so hard!  Theo was a book boyfriend you will easily fall for!
A woman can only handle so much humiliation before ultimately giving up the will to live.

Cate was so relatable and easy to click with!  I loved how she worked out things in her head and could be self conscious at times.  So there were definitely a few times where I wanted to die of embarrassment for her.  But when she let herself go when she was around Theo, I loved how effortless their friendship formed.  How they both made each other happy.  It was so easy to fall in love, right along with them!
One cup of coffee was all it took for me to fall under her spell.

One of my favorite things about fake dating is when they start to cross or blur the line.  Between what is fake, and what is real.  And this story did that so beautifully!  So with text messages that will warm your heart, Friends references, family time, a beautiful trip, and coffee, I loved Aloha, Seattle!  If you’re a fan of romance books that make you laugh out loud and fall in love, definitely add this one to your tbr!  I can’t recommend it enough!

Author Post coming at you!

So, how did I come up with this story? Well, it's a funny story (at least it is to me). I have been writing the sequel in my fantasy trilogy (and if you love dark fantasy, you should check it out!) and got hit with the dreaded "writer's block". My husband and mom encouraged me to take a break from writing the book for a couple of weeks so I could rest and come back to it with fresh eyes. So, I listened. Sort of.

Day one into my "writing break" this idea for a rom-com hit me. I decided I'd just scribble out the idea so I could revisit it at a later date. Writing down the plotline turned into writing the first chapter which turned into writing half of the book and within two weeks, I had a complete first draft of Aloha, Seattle written.

When my husband caught me writing, he said, "I thought you were going to take a break from writing." And I said, "I'm taking a break from writing my fantasy sequel. I didn't agree to stop writing completely."

So, that is how Aloha, Seattle came to be. From one spark of an idea, two weeks of focus, and a whole lot of coffee. Lots and lots of coffee. And sheer determination to beat my writer's block.

I fell in love with Cate and Theo from the beginning and I am so excited for you all to read my first contemporary romantic comedy!

And as always, thank you all for your support, encouragement, and readership! I appreciate every one of you and hope you get all the warm fuzzies reading this!

I needed a nice soft romance to clean my book hangover after my previous read and this was just perfect!

Cate and Theo are are such engaging characters and from the first moment you meet them, through all the trials and tribulations, and Cate’s inner turmoil and hilarious thoughts, you know they are perfect for each other.

Oh, to meet such an amazing man!

Gauthier writes a mean romance, keeping you fully engaged and often giggling as she navigates the hoops Cate has to jump through to meet her end of the bargain. A bargain she’s not sure she ever wants to end, and I can’t say I blame her! Theo seems pretty wonderful.

As always, we seem to get in our own way when things come down to the crunch and it makes you love Cate all the more as she struggles to over come her history.

Brilliant romantic comedy you won’t want to put down.

SO GOOD! My full review is going up on my Instagram but for the sake of wanting people to know, this book was so good. I cannot wait for all of you to read it. Theo is… Theo is pretty high on my list of book boyfriends now. That alone is saying a lot.

Hi. I’m back in 2022… I’ve read this book more times than I can count and I’m obsessed: Theo is a comfort character for me. I adore him.

Sooo cheesy, but adorable and easy. Aloha Seattle is a breath of fresh air. A predictable romcom with lovable characters, a beautiful Hawaiian setting, and unique career details of flight attendant and restauranteur. I loved Cate’s relationship with her roommates and Theo’s big-fat-greek-wedding-esque family was so fun to read. Cate’s internal dialogue was repetitive at times, but I’d definitely recommend this lighthearted love story. It’s simple and sweet.

This was such a cute, quick read, romcom! Catalina and Theo have such good chemistry, but my favorite part of the whole book was all the bets and the Wedding Games! If you like fake dating then this is a great read for you!

This is a wonderful cute read which I’ve loved reading as part of the Instabook tours readalong.
Cate and Theo are brilliantly written characters and I loved the chemistry between them from the very first meeting in the coffee shop - everyone definitely needs a Theo in their lives. Ma and Pa and the Bennett family are great secondary characters and add to the idea of family that Cate has been missing. The short chapters meant this story raced along and I laughed and cried with Cate as she allows herself to trust again. Now, where’s my copy of Persuasion?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It's not my normal cup of coffee (fake dating is one of my least favorite tropes), but all the Friends and LOTR references had me giggling at my Kindle! And Theo was a gorgeous book boy, for sure (it helps that he and my husband share some tattoos). I appreciated the foster care representation, and it felt so important that Catalina connected with the Bennetts the way she did.

Which brings me to one of the reasons I didn't give this book five stars, although I really did enjoy it: I feel like we got a really large, interesting cast, but we didn't get to see too much of them. I especially wish Tommy and Eve could have been a bigger part of the story, and we didn't get to meet Lauren until the end. Leah, too, could have played a bigger role; honestly, I was invested in and liked almost all of the characters, and I really wanted more of them. That was my biggest critique, which I think speaks well of Morgan's ability to create characters with depth and intrigue!

Although there were moments that made me feel awkward (mostly comments about Tommy's weight or Eve's race, which were meant to be friendly banter but felt a little harsh to me while reading), I really did connect with this story and the struggles Catalina went through on her journey to both love herself and trust herself to love again. I'm so glad she found a family who loves her as much as the Bennetts do, and I can't wait to read more of Morgan's beautiful characters.

Hellfire and broomsticks (as Catalina would say), I'm excited!

sweet.
that's the word.
that's it.
just kidding.
it was sweet and cheesy and i should've been mad at the irony but once in a while you should let yourself consume some cheesy and loosen up.
i'd missed that. i hadn't read a proper romance in a long time, and like always, it was like coming back home after a long time away. i missed home, and this book definitely satisfied my homesickness.
yes there was a lot of repetition and some things didn't make sense but i let it slide because like i said, it was sweet and cheesy, and those two things don't always make sense. (wow, that sounded way better in my head. i meant it in a good sense, i promise.)
and i didn't like cate's sexual fantasies about theo after about halfway into the book (the first half was so sweet and beautiful), but i also didn't let it affect my adoration for this book.
there were some detailed kissing scenes and also some fade-to-black scenes, but nothing very explicit. i didn't mind much of that too, because there was this adoration and connection very evident between the two.
i loved that couple, and i rooted for them!
and theo is my newest book boyfriend. i fell for him—hard. i really did. i was crushing on him so hard it hurt. you know... if i can't have a man like theo, i don't want a man at all... that kind of crush.
one thing i loved almost as much as theo is his family. they were all such cinnamon rolls, down to theo's sister-in-law, sarah. everyone was sooo nice!
i loved this book, and i'm glad i read it.

A contemporary romantic comedy with loveable characters, a tantalizing steamy romance, a Hawaii wedding, and a whole load of “fake-dating” related shenanigans. What’s not to love!

I honestly can’t express how much I adored this book. It was one of those that so easily gripped me, sucked me in, and made me ache to have to put it down. The whole cast of characters were truly wonderful and I adored the friendship between Tommy, Eve, and Catalina, as well as the family dynamic of Theo’s family.

And on the topic of Theo, O.M.G. Could this guy be any more wonderful?! This book is truly one of the greatest “fake-dating” romances I’ve ever read. Quite possibly, the best. Every interaction between Theo and Cate just had me swooning and while the story was very “closed-door” in the romantic department, I still adored it and the steam resonating off of this pair of lovebirds was just to die for.

Aloha, Seattle was such a cute heartwarming read. I absolutely got the warm fuzzies reading this book.

I was rooting for Theo and Cate from page 1!! I loved getting to see them grow (as a fake couple and as individuals) and learn about each other throughout the book. Theo's family absolutely gives off "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" vibes, which I love.

The Wedding games, the quiet moments between Theo and Cate, the growing tension between them. LOVE. This was a solid romantic comedy for me, and absolutely worth a read!! For why did I give it 4 stars instead of 5 then? I think I just wanted a little more across the board. More tension, more angst, more spice. Just, MORE.

Overall this is worth a read when you're looking for something lighthearted. Definitely can't wait to see what Gauthier comes up with next in the contemporary space!

“You’re the reason I believe in love.”

New rom-com alert!! This was so cute! I absolutely loved it. I loved Theo and Cate so much, and I was sad when it ended (bc I wanted more, even though there was an epilogue... I'm greedy okay?! 😆). This is a fun, lighthearted read and I adored the meet cute in the beginning. This book had really great relationships, families and side characters- Eve, Tommy, Athena and Tess being my favorites! Fake dating, a Hawaiian wedding, lots of competitions and even more coffee ~ you will love it.

5/5 stars. I will start by that.

This was an amazing book, Morgan Gauthier's writing is so easy to read. I started the book and was already multiple chapters in. The story is truly captivating and due to the fact to being a modern romance it was more than easy to follow everything.

She did not write catch all characters with multiple problem and backstory she stuck we something that was relatable and that could easily be true.

Hellfire and broomsticks.

I loved this book. It has more than just romance, you follow Catalina (yes I'm happy ;) ), and her struggles to open herself and let people in.

I would absolutely recommend this book, it's an easy read with romance, joy and Friends reference.

This was such a splendid and heartwarming read. My love of Seattle, coffee, banter and humour, and meet-cutes were fully quenched by reading this book.

Morgan Gauthier weaves a tale that is akin to a Hallmark Christmas movie but also adds a level of depth and relatability to her characters that you not only root for them to succeed but you identify with their scars and relish in their moments of triumph.

If you are looking for a feel-good romance that has you swooning, I highly recommend this book. I read it every night over the course of three weeks and it was such a fun and enjoyable escape from my obligations and responsibilities.

Aloha, Seattle is a sweet romcom about flight attendant Cate and a stranger Theo, who she agrees to fake date against all logic. The crazy theme ends up with them in Hawaii, pretending to be in a relationship at his brother's wedding.

Cate and Theo are both delightful characters who are so much fun, and Theo's family are a super competitive but super fun cast of characters. The whole cast of characters have great chemistry together.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading novels by Morgan Gauthier, I feel like she's an author that can take the reader on an adventure whether it's a contemporary romance or a high fantasy story.
Aloha Seattle, is a great contemporary romance and it's one that gave me all the feels. I'm really enjoying the fake dating trope and i love the direction Morgan Gauthier takes the storyline.
Theo and Cate are great characters both on their own and together. I love their interactions. The writing in this novel really brings it together, with the humour/banter and just cosiness of the characters.
Another great read that I really enjoyed.

Imagine shouting out a name in a random place and finding the love of your life.👀

This book got its hook in me from the first chapter. A wonderful, fun filled, cuteness overflowing, rom com read. Also a fake dating trope, so I was all in.

The main and the side characters are very likeable. The family bondings were fun to read. The plot flows smoothly and the writing style is well paced and easy to read.

Overall a great short read. Highly recommend this to everyone.

Thank you instatours for the arc and the read along.

It's been a while I have read a cute rom-com. I mena I am an avid romance reader but there are only a few books that live inside my head constantly and rent free. And this latest read is just that. There are so many wow points in this book. First the cover, it's so damn cute. And I generally love romance that includes the family as well. It maybe an Indian thing, but that's my personal preference. Overall this is my current fav that I am recommending to everyone.

It has a been a while since I read this book, so I don’t recall all the details, but all you really even need to know are two things:

1. THEO
2. I don’t ever really enjoy contemporary romance/rom-com books, and I loved this. So many laugh out loud moments and a sweet, clean romance! In my original review (which apparently never posted?) I compared it to a Hallmark Christmas movie. This is the PERFECT book for cozy Autumn/Winter!

Aloha, Seattle is a contemporary romance. It was very good! The fake dating trope was well done and it brought some fun to the book.
I was completely addicted with Theo and Cate story. I couldn't put it in down. That was funny and it made my smile.
I fell in love with Theo, he is the perfect book boyfriend 😘

I already want to read it all over again.

This is the first book of Morgan's that I have picked up. It has been on my TBR for awhile thanks to Morgan's insta and TikTok posts and I shouldn't have put it off. I loved Cate and Theo and their fake-dating predicament. Theo's family also provided humorous interruptions. It was the perfect lighthearted romcom that will have you crushing on Theo by the end... or if you're like me, about two seconds after he's introduced. If this is on your TBR, move it to the top of your list!

I admit, I'm not generally much of a romance reader (or in this case, a rom-com!) but I picked this up over the weekend and devoured it! What a delightful romantic comedy. I appreciated the nuance and depth that went a bit beyond the typical of this genre, which made it so refreshing. And say hello to your new book boyfriend, Theo. Ohmyword, he's delicious. This will be on my re-read rotation!
