I was unceremoniously dumped after winning a ten-day/nine-night trip to Iceland, but I’m determined to forget about my failed relationship and finally focus on my wants and needs. Too bad only thing I really want for Christmas is her.
Hayden:
I knew better than to mix business with pleasure. Yet, I’d done so, and paid a hefty price. I’m ready to prove I’m more than my mistakes, but my newest client is tempting me to be a repeat offender.
I gave this 4 instead of 3 because while I didn’t really enjoy this almost at all, I think that’s because this particular trope isn’t my jam. And since I was utterly annoyed with Hayden I don’t think I could give an assessment that isn’t completely colored by my dislike of “workplace” romance. Like it took me 3 days to read something that normal takes me 2 hours cause I just couldn’t get into it. But since I think reviews should help people decide if a book is worth their time I thought I should still give my opinion.
Here's the spoiler-free premise: Daxton Jamison has arrived at an amazingly romantic holiday getaway in Iceland for himself and the girlfriend he's basically betrothed to. There's just one problem: she's recently dumped him. Make that two problems, because she's already engaged to the man with whom she cheated on Daxton. Meanwhile, Hayden Mitchel is finally resuming her job as an Adventure Tour Guide due another guide's emergency cancellation. She's immediately attracted to Daxton, but she must resist getting involved with a client -- again. These two will have to try to put their desires aside for the entirety of of Daxton's ten-day/nine-night tour, a task much more easily said than done.
Okay so, I think this book is pretty much perfect, and here are all my reasons why.
#1: It's short. I don't know what it is, but being able to practically fly through a book makes me happy. Bonus points if it's enjoyable, which this book 1,000% is.
#2: It's just a little steamy. This also goes with reason number one. Personally, I'm not a fan of too much steam, so the brevity of this book helps keeps keep the steaminess in check. It's like a little appetizer -- just enough.
#3: It's a holiday romance. Who doesn't enjoy those?!
#4: Once again, Ferrell alternates between the main characters' point of view. I can never say enough how much I love this tactic; readers get a glimpse inside both characters' minds, and particularly in this book, it's nice to know how the other party feels during the awkward (and sexy) moments.
#5: It's realistic. I know, romances are generally not (who's ever that lucky, amiright? 😉) but I mean that it's not a cheesy, love-at-first-sight relationship based on sex alone. Don't get me wrong: the sexual tension is a major factor in the story because of Hayden's job and past indiscretion. But Daxton and Hayden are attracted to more than just each other's bodies. I always appreciate that in a romance. Furthermore, Daxton and Hayden are not blind to the challenges that a relationship would entail given their situations. Which leads me to...
#6: It's well-rounded. What I mean is, Daxton and Hayden's relationship is not the only thing in the book. Yes, it's the focus, but there are other issues they face individually. That ties in with reason number five because it gives Daxton and Hayden something else to bond over and sets up opportunities for them to support one another.
And finally, the ending. Spoiler alert: they live happily ever after. If you're not a fan of the HEA, try to excuse Ferrell for this. (See reasons one and three.) Given that this is a novella, obviously the relationship isn't drawn out (the focus is on the nine nights -- get it? 🙃) so it may seem like an unrealistic fast-forward, but this book is meant to be short. And I appreciate getting a glimpse of what's ahead for these two once the vacation is over.
Clearly I really enjoyed this book so suffice it to say that I whole-heartedly recommend it. (Note that it is for adults only!) I will also make it a point to check out the other books in the Baes of Christmas series, and of course I look forward to seeing more from Ms. Ferrell.
I enjoyed the descriptive references to the places in Iceland, and I really want to see the Northern Lights now more than ever! Daxton and Hayden were adorable, and it took no time for their chemistry to heat up. They both found just what they needed in each other. Cute read.
Let’s Set the Mood Right Quick: Baes of Christmas: Nine Frosty Nights by Kimmie Ferrell Drink: The Blizzard Cocktail Music: Let It Snow by Glee Hayden Mitchel: If, “guarded,” was a person it would be Hayden. Past and present situations had Hayden’s walls all the way up. She had to learn the beauty of letting go and learning from your mistakes. Daxton Jamison: If, “lost but found,” was a person it would be Daxton. While he was confident in who he was Daxton was a people pleaser until he realized the importance and joy of pleasing himself first. This story starts off as the Christmas week from hell but ends up being a magical trip full of possibilities. This short packed in the character development like no one’s business. The two main characters were fun and quirky, and they set a pace all their own. This fun destination short will have you ready to pack your bags and go for sure. Daxton and Hayden were cute together once they got out of their heads. When Daxton first sees Hayden is going to be his personal tour guide during his trip to Iceland he is instantly attracted to her but isn't sure if he should be "moving on" so soon after his breakup although he didn't really care for his ex as a lover more as a business arrangement made by their families. Hayden is just trying to do her job without any mishaps since she feels the need to prove herself in a male dominated industry and after coming off suspension from some allegations made against her after one of her tour guides; however, she is attracted to Daxton as well.
The more time they spend together doing the various activities, the more the chemistry grows and they know they want to act on their feelings. I was happy that they actually had a conversation after they shared their first kiss and almost went further before Hayden bolted after having second thoughts and I was happy that she told him why she had reservations about getting involved with him. It was a little bit of a slow burn but the way it was written it kept you engaged and wanting to see where it was going to go so I feel the pacing was just right. I really enjoyed the book and I thought the ending was really cute too.
Ms. Ferrell, you are a newbie to me. This was the first book I read by you. I love the plot because Daxton received more than relaxation on his trip. He got to experience genuine love from someone that he could reciprocate it back to. Hayden was just what his itinerary ordered. She guided Daxton right into her heart. I enjoyed the knowledge Hayden had about the Northern lights and Iceland. It was quite informative to read about them.
This is a good read, although I wish Daxton and his parents' relationship was better. I would have loved to read about his parents caring more for him and not a business "deal." I suggest this book, it's part of the 'Baes of Christmas' series. All of the authors in this series delivered the book baes with the holiday spirit.
Daxton and Hayden had an instant connection upon meeting one another. Daxton had booked an excursion in Iceland where he planned to propose to a woman he didn't love. When his ex bravely chose her own happiness that left him alone in his trip. Which must have been fate working in his favor because that left him with 9 nights with Hayden his beautiful tour guide.
I liked the premise of this story. Loved the unique location, language, and traditions shared. I even liked the characters individually. Unfortunately it was placed too slow. I had a hard time finishing the book because it dragged along. Less time in the background, more time on the baes.
This is the first book that I have read by the author and I enjoyed it. I was hooked from the beginning. Daxton goes on the trip he won by himself instead of with his girlfriend, who broke up with him. Hayden is his personal tour guide. They get to know each other well as they travel across Iceland in search of the Northern Lights. Hayden had her own issues dealing with her attraction to Daxton. They give in to their attraction and get a HEA.
I don't normally like a lot of details in a story, but I loved the description in this one. The author did a lot of research and you can tell.
This was a great read. What started out as a refreshing getaway to Ireland for Daxton after finding out his fiance was cheating turned out for a perfect ending. When Daxton's tour guide is unavailable for his trip he sends Hayden who turns out to be the perfect distraction for Daxton's failed relationship. The chemistry between the two of them is apparent from the first time they meet. Daxton feeling it's too soon to be developing feelings for someone else and Hayden scared to mix business with pleasure based on a bad experience but one snowed in night changes it all for them. Perfect ending for a lot of challenging past trauma for the both of them
Is there time and space for romance when you're trying to find your footing after a breakup and when you're still reeling from an on the job issue? Daxton and Hayden may have to navigate long distance and past hurts to have a shot at something real. Is nine days enough time for them to do so? I love a good Insta love and a let's put our cards on the table and see where this goes. Northern Lights & a cup of hot chocolate definitely set the mood. (Just the right amount of spice, too!
Daxton and Hayden were adorable and I enjoyed this. Definitely a good quick read that makes the holiday season a little brighter.
Daxton was just dumped by his long time girlfriend when he found out he won the bid for the Iceland trip. Still taking the trip, Daxton's guide Hayden wasn't what he was expecting. Being around each other Hayden and Daxton attraction was strong, but Hayden wouldn't give in, until she did and they got the HEA they both deserved. This was a great story and it made me want to travel to Iceland. I loved the connection with Hayden and Daxton and was rooting for them. I also loved how they both got the lives they wanted and not what someone else wanted for them!!
Daxton just found out his girlfriend was cheating on him , he had a plan to purpose to her on a 10 day Iceland trip he had booked to surprise her , but he decides to take the trip solo after the ordeal he experienced
Hayden, The new tour guide, has been given a chance to redeem herself but can’t resist daxton looks and is trying her hardest not to repeat previous mistakes by falling for her client again. How would this story play out, read this book to find out !
First, let me say that I truly appreciated the author using such great written illustrations of Iceland and all of it’s beauty. She also threw in some word and phrases. I enjoyed reading the adventure that was these two main characters finding each other and falling in love. The pace was good and the steamy scenes were done just right, not too much and excessively but at just the right points. This is a new author that I found during BRAE, (stumbled upon by accident), and I look forward to reading more romance novels by her.
This is a story of finding love when you least expect it. Daxton and Hayden have instant chemistry that accelerates as the book moves along. We know they're going to get together, it's just a matter of when.
The back drop of Iceland and all the activities the characters raved about made me do some research myself, everything sounded beautiful.
The ending was very romantic but I want to know why Hayden's best friend was mad.
Hayden and Daxton took us on a cold journey through Iceland and warmed us up with their attraction and passion for each other. Both dealing with recent hardships and heartache. As a reader I had a head time connecting with the location of the story and the build up of the romance, the ending was quick which makes me feel like the chase was longer than necessary. I prefer instant connections when reading novellas.
It took ninefrosty Nights for Daxton Jamison to realize that it was okay if he chose making himself happy Instead of his patents. Visiting Iceland and encountering his tour guide Hayden made all his hurt, self doubt and pain go away.
The setting of this story was amazing and the writer had away of describing it in such a way that I felt like I was there. Sweet short story despite the heartbreaking beginning.
I’m ready to endure the cold and head to Iceland! Ms. Ferrell did an excellent job of describing Iceland and making the experience seem so real! I know I messed up a lot of those words! But it was fun!!
I enjoyed the relationship between Daxton and Hayden! I’m glad they were both able to work through their personal issues. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!! Grab your copy now!! Kudos, Kimmie!! 💜
This was a love story about Hayden Mitchell and Daxton Jamison. They met when he took a trip to Iceland, she was his tour guide. They we instantly attracted to each other but fought it to the end. While on this ten day journey through Iceland they discussed their lives and realized what they had in common. Finally they acknowledged their love after many months after the trip which led to happily ever after.
This was my first was my first time reading a book by this particular author and I'm glad that I gave her a try. I really like her writing style and her characters are easy to connect with. I loved the chemistry between Daxton and Hayden and I really liked the location of the book. This will not be my last time reading this author!!!
Daxton and Hayden found love and what they needed in each other in 9 nights. Their story is super cute and I loved how the author included so many details about Iceland instead of just naming a place. You can tell a lot of research was done in order to make the location of the story authentic and genuine. Now I want to experience the Northern Lights.
I enjoyed learning about Iceland and how they celebrate Christmas. The rode to forgiveness for Hayden and Faction was not easy. Obstacle of lies, meddling parents, and distance. Each Frosty night was better than the one before.
This is My first time Reading Ms Kimmie Ferrell. I thoroughly enjoy this short story in this Series Baes of Christmas #9.. Fate throws these two 2gether & Love happens ... I especially liked the idea that it incorporated facts about Iceland.. Great short Read..Thx Ms Ferrell👍🏽🙋🏾♀️📚🎅🏾🗼🔥😎❤❤
I really enjoyed his story. Both of the main characters had their life defining issues, and it was great to see hem work through that together. I would love to hear more about this couple. Maybe they will pop up in another book helping someone else during their travels.
Atmosphere matters. Go on the journey with Daxton and Hayden as they explore something unconventional after life changing circumstances. The backdrop of Iceland 🇮🇸 and all you may have thought you knew gave picturesque theme to dream the impossible.
This is my first time reading from this author and I will have to check her out more often. I like how Daxton and Hayden realized they had the same reluctance to live unhappy lives like their mothers. I am glad they finally took the leap to find what makes them happy and got their happy ever after in the end
For whatever reason, I just couldn't get into this one. I'm not sure why or how to explain it...I just wasn't feeling it between these characters. The writing was fine, the premise was intriguing...it just didn't grab me, I hate to say. It certainly won't stop me from reading more from this author, though.
Nine Frosty Nights, was my first read by this author, but definitely won't be my last. A cute, sweet story, with a helping of spiked rum to taste, once Hayden got out of her own head (understandably so) to enjoy. Kimmie and these Icelandic terms in this book were giving my tongue a workout, boy lol.
Probably an overall 3 or 3.5 ⭐️ for me, but I gave an extra star because a) I know this isn't my preferred genre, and b) indie authors who are out here doing the thing deserve it!
The story was super cute, and it actually made me want to visit Iceland! I didn't love how it rushed through so much at the end, after reading day by day. Grammatically and syntactically there were some flaws.
