It took months for me to trust that Rachel—the imaginary “friend” who’d hurt me as a child—was gone, years to convince myself I was just a sick kid with an overactive imagination.
But I finally did it. I pulled it together, got well, and I never looked back. On the day our school bus is knocked off an overpass, I’m just an average teen obsessed with becoming a professional dancer.
Now, suddenly my childhood tormentor is back and I’m on the run from Rachel and men-in-black types who want me dead.
But this time I’m not alone. Jessie, the scariest misfit at my school, has an invisible tormentor too. But it turns out Jessie’s not so scary. He’s kind, brave, and as committed as I am to keeping us both alive.
Together, I hope we can figure out why this is happening. I never dream our investigation will lead back to the hospital where Rachel first appeared or to dark secrets that give us both even more reasons to be afraid.
*****This review is for the audiobook***** Logan Riley is a favorite Author, even though YA suspense is not my typical choice. The deciding factor for me was narration by Jason Clarke and Emma Ashton, two of my favorites and in DUET that ticks all of my boxes! The narration is superb! This book definitely has the suspense factor down. You hit the ground running and jump from one crisis to another. Logan Riley is brilliant at pulling the rug out from under you ---just when you thought you figured out what was going on. I was on the edge of my seat, continuously surprised, and listened straight through! Loved it!
“All The Reasons To Be Afraid” is a wild ride of ‘what could possibly happen next?”. It starts off as a normal YA book but quickly adds in some paranormal elements that makes the story an action pack adventure that I could not put down.
Dani is in high school and a dancer at her all girl’s school. On a combined trip with the all boy’s school, she meets Jesse. The two sit next to each other on the bus until the bus gets into a horrific accident. Dani and Jesse are hurt but are able to get away. The two have a connection in their past that they didn’t know about until the events that come to light from that day.
I really enjoyed this book. While it’s categorized as a YA novel, it’s actionpacked and kept my interest from the beginning to the very last sentence. Dani and Jesse grew so much throughout the story even though the time frame of the story was a very short period of time. The paranormal factor added so much to the story which I enjoyed so much. It was new and different for me and it worked so well. The ending was perfect and I really hope we get a part two. It wraps up the story but leaves a little bit of room for a possible second book.
Emma Ashton and Jason Clarke were wonderful narrator choices for the audiobook. They brought all of the action and emotions that made the story come to life even more.
I have to say this was far from a normal reading material. It was listed as a thriller and I liked the cover so I took a chance. I do not even know where to start. It started off good and than came the imaginary "friend" and all of a sudden a dragon.
What have I gotten myself into, this is not a book for me, but the characters have not changed into a dragon, witch, vampire so keep reading.
"She didn't even notice all the blood" okay is this just something you two can see, bloody clothes and all this. By this point I could not put it down, I had to finish and see what is up.
To learn it was a side effect to an experimental drug Dani's dad help create was a bit much...and than telling Rachel to hurt him just not kill him.. Okay this here an imaginary creature hurting people... 🤷♀️ like I said paranormal Sci fi or whatever is not a genre I perfer but by the time they really came in to affect I was already intrigued
All the Reasons to be Afraid a standalone novel by Logan Riley. I am loving her YA books which isn’t usually a genre I go for but I do love spooky tales. I also love that these are books my children could also read.
Dani thought her imaginary frenemy from her childhood was gone forever. She hasn’t seen her since the day she left the children’s ward years ago except now she was back and seeming more real than ever. Dani thought she was always alone with the craziness in her mind. That was until the bad boy in her school who saved her from a school bus crash was seeing a monster of his own…
Two teenagers on the run from who knows who? They just know they can’t trust anyone, maybe not even each other. One day feels like a million when it comes to the day they almost die in a crash to the night of running from their pasts. The day is full of discovery, secrets, lies, and love.
I really enjoyed the fast-paced of this wild ride. The characters are badass and full of surprises. I am looking forward to what is up next for this author.
Quotes:
I didn’t dream of death. But it seemed death had been dreaming of me…
Dani is the only person who has ever made me feel like I’m not alone.
I want to get away from the scary people. I don’t want to become one.
Wow - what a wild adventure! All the Reasons to be Afraid is a YA paranormal action adventure with so many twists and turns that will keep you guessing from the first page to the last.
Dani and Jesse aren't friends, but they are bonded by a horrific bus accident on a school trip. As they try to piece together what is happening around them, they find out that their bond goes much deeper than that.
Throughout this novel, Dani and Jesse are learning not only who they are, but they are learning to trust and to love each other as well. The events all moved very quickly, and this just really kept me on my toes, engaged and interested.
The audio narrated by Jason Clarke and Emma Ashton was so good. They really captured the emotion of the story and the angst of the main characters.
Overall I liked the book, but it ended very abruptly and why was no one monitoring them at the end? The insta romance and everything taking place all in just one day, especially the falling in love IN ONE DAY was hard to take. And how would Rachel know things that Dani wasn’t conscious for?
The ending really set it up for a follow up book, but there isn’t one coming, so pretty unsatisfying ending.

I stumbled across this as a 2o23 audiobook, fell in love, and was supremely disappointed to discover that I couldn't use it for my What's New in YA presentation since it was actually published in 2021. An engaging horror story that is easily set up for a sequel that didn't come. I will still share this one with students!
I didn't know anything about the book or author, but I loved the cover art! I was totally not expecting this story. I was pleasantly surprised and I entertained. A little YA suspense mixed with sci-fi.
Two teenagers who have been a part of an 0ff-the-records medical treatment program that caused unintended consequences. They are being followed and are trying to escape. I could never fully engage with the characters.
All the Reasons to Be Afraid is an exciting, thrilling adventure! There was never a dull moment as Dani and Jesse fought for their lives, searched for answers, and grew closer. I’m a total wimp when it comes to scary stories, but this is more thriller than horror, which I appreciated. This was a hard book to put down. Even after the credits rolled, I didn’t want it to end.
