Two hundred years ago, as magic began to fade, the last dragon died.
Throughout her life, Hazel has kept her head down and avoided trouble. But everything changes when she unearths and hatches the last dragon egg. Whisked away to the castle to prepare for her new life, the dragon becomes her only constant and she finds herself the target of ancient powers.
The Heir to the throne of Gaelin is dead. But in reality, Alastríona Ashcoven has been biding her time in the monster-infested Wastelands waiting for a chance to go back to the country she lost. Her luck changes when the Witch Queen offers her the army she desperately needs to reclaim her throne... And all that the Queen asks for is a vial of the dragon's blood.
Elyzabeth is a simple farm girl, growing up on her mother’s fiber farm in rural Illinois where she’d spend hours hand-feeding the sheep as a child. During this time, she was raised on a steady diet of The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Disney princess movies, cultivating her obsession with fantasy. Now she still lives at the farmhouse with two spoiled dogs, two bratty cats, and an excess of books and candles. When she’s not reading or writing, she likes to spend her free time playing video games, picking up random hobbies, and trying to buy the love of her cats with cuddles.
It took me a little while to get into the story but once I did I fell in love with Hazel and her adorable little dragon. I would have given this story 5 stars but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the pacing of the other povs. But all in all I would definitely recommend this book! It’s unlike any I’ve read before.
This is a simple read. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. It does have a to be continued ending. So you do have to wait for the other books to come out to find out what actually happens. I am a fan of the Eragon movie and so thoroughly enjoyed this book with a similar concept. That being said I never read the Eragon books. This book is consistent in its pace. No bad language A Clean read. Cute young romance. I am an adult but I believe this would be appropriate for preteens, for sure teens. I really enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next book. I haven’t been this into a book aimed towards a younger audience since MayBird and the EverAfter!

Hazel in “The Final Rider” is a kind of protagonist I haven’t encountered before, but hope we get to have more of in the future. Forced to leave her little village, Hazel toils away in a mine, not wanting to be noticed by anyone, when she uncovers a dragon egg. When it hatches for her, she becomes the first, and last, dragon rider since dragons and the majority of magic left their world centuries ago. In a land with tense alliances and creepy, mysterious witches, Hazel is thrust out of her simple life into one of violence and adventure—both of which she doesn’t want anything to do with being so introverted, and easily overwhelmed with people and the luxury suddenly a part of her daily life. Hazel is not the confident YA fantasy heroine that has become so common today, which makes her incredibly relatable and likeable, even if at times I wanted to shake her.
A lot of Hazel’s journey in this first book is simply learning—learning how to read, defend herself, and what it means to be a dragon rider. There isn’t a lot threatening her early on, though many claim that there are others out there who will wish her or her baby dragon harm. It’s not the most exciting of plotlines, but the book does split it’s POV between Hazel and a few other characters that are much more intense and, at times, a little scary with the kind of creatures those characters encounter. While Hazel is oblivious to these other characters, they aren’t oblivious to her—or at least not her dragon. But why those characters need anything from the dragon remains a bit of a mystery, even toward the end.
That was my biggest/only issue with this book. So much of the story is very low stakes, focusing mainly on Hazel and showing her growth—very minuscule growth at times—into someone a tad more confident then how she started the story. Even the “conflict” didn’t seem to warrant some of the characters major decisions at the end of the book. Which made this first book feel a bit too much like a prologue to the world as a whole. Not a ton happens, and what does, is mainly used as a way set up what the true plot of the series is—which will be addressed in a later story. I wish more had happened in this book beyond training and travel, hence the 4 stars, but I do appreciate that Hazel was a softer heroine then is typical in YA chosen-one fantasies. Which, by the way, if you are looking for more chosen-one fantasy stories with sweet romances, and dragons, “The Final Rider” would be a cute one to try! And thanks to the author for sending me a copy to review honestly!
It has been a long time since I have read a fantasy book featuring dragons. Author, Elyzabeth Trickey drew me into this magical world of dragons, witch hunters, royalty, a girl who becomes a fighter, and romance. Once I started reading, I could not stop.
There is a great cast of characters. I enjoyed getting to meet and become familiar with each of them. While I did like Hazel as she started this grand adventure. Two others that I really liked is Alastríona and Marcus. They are both strong characters and the romance that sprouted between them is great.
If you are looking for a book that has nonstop action, engaging and very likable characters and a storyline that will keep you reading; then, you need to pick up a copy of this book. I recommend this book to all fantasy readers of all ages.
I was so excited to read The Final Rider because I haven't read anything in the recent years with dragons, so I was intrigued right away. I am so happy that I jumped right in because I absolutely enjoyed this book. It's a young adult fantasy about a girl who is struggling to find a balance between her life before the exile from her village and her new life after finding a dragon egg.
The story is in multiple point of views which I love, especially when it's a young adult fantasy! I wish it had a header on who the chapter was about but it's not like it's hard to figure out... It has young romance, adventure, badass female characters and of course a dragon! There are relationships that I love and one that I am keeping an eye on because I'm not quite sure I trust this character! The world building is great and sort of gave me lord of the rings vibes in regards to the adventures of traveling. It for sure leaves you curious for more and I already can't wait for the next book!
Have you ever wanted to read a book based on the cover? The moment I saw this cover I knew I had to read The Final Rider.
Hazel has not had an easy life and being chosen by a dragon to be its rider is not going to make her life any easier. She is now one of the elite and living in luxury while her family is still living a simple but hard life.
Hazel is finding it hard to come to terms with her new life and all that is required of her. At times I wanted to jump into the story and shake some sense into her, but finally she accepts her fate. Hazel is fierce and loyal and will do anything to protect her dragon. She’s made a new alliance and I hope it was the correct one.
There are a few major plot lines and I am excited to see how this story is going to unfold. Witches. Witch Hunters. Dragons. Dragon Riders. Monsters. Princesses.
All was quiet in the world and something old and ancient has caused this last dragon to come forth and chose his rider. The Final Rider. Something big is coming. And I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next !
Thank you to Elyzabeth Royse for providing me with this arc. All thoughts and reviews are my own.
I was drawn to this book, as a) I love stories with dragons in, b) I do love fantasy and c) The cover is gorgeous!! Meet Hazel - not your usual protagonist for a dragon rider, but her character is likeable and honest. She’s a vulnerable young lady who hasn’t much confidence, unable to read - but has a kindness and compassion that ties her to a dragon! Attention from this dragon - whom many thought were extinct, results in a trip to the palace and a new friendship in prince Kendrick . Their friendship develops beautifully in the story into love. Hazel’s confidence begins to develop as a result However, in a land of witches and a Queen that everyone fears - nothing is straight forward. An old friend attacks- resulting in a choice for Hazel between keeping her dragon safe or staying with her new love. A Plot twist, witches, dragons, romance, great characters - what is not to love about this story! There’s a book 2 too yes! 🎉 A must read!
This book was a breath of fresh air to read, so easy to fall into the world building and the characters introductions, complexities and hidden secrets meant that I devoured this book. It reminded me of some greats like Eragon to Realm Breaker for the characters, relationships and the journeys they each have, to the likes of Game of Thrones and Throne of Glass for the world building, beliefs, magic systems, nobility and hierarchal society. Resgal was a dream of a character which brought memories of my favourite book character Enzo from The Art of Racing in the Rain, having the insight, feelings, connections of a creature and fully bringing them to life from words alone. Cannot wait to start the sequel from Elyzabeth, The Final Rider was a gem of a book and is deservedly my first 5 star rating of the year.

🌟🌟🌟💫
All readers of fantasy will really enjoy this story of a girl who becomes a dragon rider after they were long thought extinct. Hazel is very meek and timid as expected of her being forced in exile to work the mines to save her family, and it’s a joy to watch her grow with her dragon, gaining confidence in who is she and learning to respect herself.
This is a clean novel with an extreme slow burn youthful romance. Perfect for readers of a younger age.
First of all, how gorgeous is the cover of this book! This alone would’ve sold me on buying and reading this book. The writing had me hooked from the very beginning, and I found it very hard to stop reading at times. An unlikely young woman, chosen by an adoring dragon to be his rider, many twists and turns. Not to mention that I also adored numerous other characters in this book! I cannot wait to read the next installment. My only disappointment is that I don’t already have the next book to get lost in right this moment!

The New Adult book The Final Rider by Elyzabeth Trickey should be added to your TBR (to be read) list if you enjoy...
- Dragons - Slow-burn romance - Multiple POVs (points of view) - Morally grey princesses - A reluctant hero/chosen one - Human-animal bonds
There are two main characters, Hazel and Alastriona, though chapters cover other POVs at times.
Eighteen year-old Hazel is guarded and keeps her head down working in the mines. Her secrets and guilt prevent her from socializing or making friends, but being alone and left to herself is how she prefers it. Yet, that all changes when she not only finds a dragon egg - which is supposed to be an impossible feat on its own - but it chooses to hatch for her! Hazel goes from being a nobody to being a somebody, and she initially loathes the idea of being chosen as a Rider as her simple life becomes anything but. She's whisked away to the castle in the capitol of Euphopha with her bonded dragon where she must decide who she wants to be while accepting a fate she never wanted. During this time, she becomes the target of the Witch Queen, who has offered an alliance with the Wasteland Queen Alastriona, crown princess of Gaelin.
Alastriona is believed by the world at large to be dead since the Morvands usurped the throne and killed most of the Ashcovens, the royal family of Gaelin. After much torture, Alastriona was released. She's been living in the monster-infested Wastelands with fifty-odd followers. When the Witch Queen offers her a chance to reclaim her rightful throne, Alastriona is intrigued, but an alliance with witches is a dangerous game. The Witch Queen has her sights set on Hazel's dragon's blood, and she wants Alastriona to retrieve it.
I really did enjoy The Final Rider. I think Trickey does a wonderful job building the world and the lore, and having us discover things as Hazel does is effective - the reader isn't bombarded with too much information too fast, which I appreciate. I also loved loved loved the dragon and its bond with Hazel...I won't say much more than that to avoid spoilers!
To be honest, based on the cover alone (which is stunning!), I thought this was going to be a YA book. It is definitely NEW ADULT with profane language, some violence, and hints to adult situations that happened prior to the main storyline. I would classify the romances in the book as PG, however.
I am a bit disappointed in Hazel's decisions near the end of the book, though I understand her reasonings. Overall, I give The Final Rider 3.5 stars as I did enjoy it! I think this being a debut novel is extremely well executed, and I look forward to reading more works by Trickey in the future. I think fantasy fans, especially fans of dragons, will enjoy this book.
Thank you to NBB Book Tours and author Elyzabeth Trickey for gifting me a copy of The Final Rider in exchange for an honest review!
Hazel has been living in the shadows since the day she got exiled from her village, Briar Glen. It's been 3 years since that she is working at a mine living away from her family. But as hard as it might be, she can't go back. She must continue living the life as a miner, as a nobody. But it's only until the day a smooth oval stone like egg come cradling beside her. Soon cracks spread across the egg, light glows out of it as bright as a miniature sun and there sat a baby dragon shining ever so brightly in its golden glory. And now, she's not a miner anymore she's a dragon rider. The dragon chose her and this will mark the beginning of a new life for Hazel.
After the news of Gailin being overthrown in the war spread all around, everyone believed that Alastriona Ashcoven has also lost her life. No one knows that in reality, she has been living in the wastelands biding her time to recover her lost throne and country. Now, two years later, an opportunity to gain back everything has finally come to her door but at a cost that she's too reluctant to pay. Either way, she must make her decision soon.
The final rider is the story of dragons and witches and humans fighting each other for their respective motives. Years after all the dragons perished from the land, a dragon, Resgal comes out of nowhere and cradles his way to his chosen rider, a meek yet brave girl, Hazel. And now together they must start their new journey where a lot of witches and dangerous creatures, even some humans are waiting for them. But they must stay strong and fight their way out.
I've hardly ever read anything in fantasy so this was something different for me from my usual genres and nonetheless, I enjoyed reading it. The plot build is strong and compelling. The dual povs are making the story even more interesting. I liked Alastriona's character. She came out as a strong-willed character to me. While on the contrary, Hazel seemed to be a soft, meeky character. Her relationship with Kenrick was beautiful to read (as Kenrick also appears to be a sensitive character). And not to mention, I loved the diverse characterisation in the story. The asexual representation, woman loves woman representation, I loved them all.
That little post twist towards the end was a bit unforeseen to me though but it actually arose my curiosity for the sequel. Can't wait to see what happens next!
In my opinion, dragons always make a story better. As soon as I read the blurb and saw the cover for Elyzabeth Trickey’s The Final Rider, I knew I had to read the book. Readers who pick this up can expect an imaginative world, great characters, and fantastic action.
Great worldbuilding is a must in fantasy books, and The Final Rider has that. The author did a great job bringing readers into the world of her imagination. All the descriptions were vivid and easy to picture. In addition to the dragon, there are also witches, witch hunters, and monsters to deal with. Altogether, there are lots of elements in the book that made my fantasy-loving heart quite happy.
I enjoyed the contrast between Hazel and Alastriona. Hazel was born to a relatively simple life and lower-class family. Her bond with the dragon (and the discovery of said dragon) propelled her into the spotlight. Alastriona, on the other hand, was born into power as a princess. When we meet her, she’s in relative exile and leading her people in the Wastelands. I’m always excited when an author creates characters that are likable (who you want to see achieve their goals), and Ms. Trickey did exactly that with Hazel and Alastriona. It’s even more exciting that fate seems to have set Hazel and Alastriona on opposite sides.
If you’re a fan of Eragon, How to Train Your Dragon or Blazewrath Games, then you should definitely check out The Final Rider. I would recommend the book to young adult fantasy readers and dragon fanatics. For those who are considering this book for a young reader in their life, please note there are no intimate scenes and minimal bad language to worry about.
Thank you to the author for providing me with a complimentary review copy! I appreciate the opportunity to read the book immensely. Please note - I voluntarily read and reviewed The Final Rider; all opinions of the book expressed in this review are my own and not influenced in any way.
“The sun hung low, coloring the western sky with vibrant golds and pinks, but it wasn't quite sunset yet. The only shelter in sight was the crumbling castle that stood tall at the horizon. Its broken spires still looked like they were an eternity away. The dragging claws and labored breathing encroaching on the edge of his senses made Marcas force himself to walk faster, shouldering his small bag of supplies. “
I knew I had to read this book from the first time I read the blurb. The Last Rider sounded like just what I was looking for in a fantasy novel and I was not let down! Hazel is a loveable protagonist who simply wants to keep her head down and make money to send back to her family. However, fate has other plans for her. You can read the full synopsis in the comments but the gist is; she’s been chosen and she doesn’t believe she is worthy . I feel like everyone can relate to this feeling. Also the reluctance and hesitance of forging a new path when you had been just trying to get through the day before such a momentous change.
I enjoyed the multiple POV and and very intrigued as to where the story is going next! Alastriona is such a compelling character! She definitely gives me Aelin vibes (TOG) and the overall world building reminded me of GOT or LOTR. She’d do anything for her people, even compromise her personal morals…
I also like the diverse representation and that all of the characters are struggling with something. They all have difficult decisions and it’s hard to see many of them as black and white, but more trying to forge their best path.
Epic fantasy, magic, Kings and Queens, a nation in peril and DRAGONS. What more could a person want in their Fantasy read? Cannot wait for the next book!
I had the pleasure of receiving this ARC from the author in exchange for a review but all opinions are entirely my own.
Hazel was using a pickax as she worked in the mines. She struck the stone so hard that her ax broke in half and the vibrations caused her to fall to the ground, hitting her head. In front of her, sitting in the rock, was a round smooth object that could only be an egg of some sort. A crack appeared on its surface. A piece fell off and something moved inside as more cracks appeared. The egg actually exploded, pieces falling on her along with stones as the wooden supports groaned above. Finally the shaking and noise stopped. She peeked out from behind the mining cart she had hidden behind. Now, where the egg had been, there was a small gold creature with scales, red eyes, and wings spread out. Screaming, she fell backward and the dragon landed on her chest, claws extended, as it lay on her. How could this be? The Fae, magic, and dragons were all gone. Where did this egg come from and why had no one found it before?
A large crowd gathered having heard the explosion. She could see on their faces the different reactions to what this might mean. Most were surprised, some angry, some smiling. Some hoped while others feared the danger. A miner helped her get out of the mine and, after someone tried to touch the dragon and it snapped at their finger, no one else bothered it. The last dragon had died over two hundred years ago. Realization hit her… she had just been imprinted by a baby dragon.
This event will be a total change to Hazel’s life. The dragon, Resgal, has chosen his rider and the two must begin their journey, fighting together through the danger. Will they meet their destiny?
I loved Hazel! She's not your typical butt kicking heroine. She's meek, has low self-esteem, and doesn't even know how to read. But she is kind and hardworking, traits that get her tied to a dragon! Finding a dragon in a land where they were thought to be basically extinct draws attention and she is soon take to the palace, where she meets the royal family and becomes close to the prince. Kenrick really is a sweet guy and helps her a lot. But sadly, an old ally turns on them causing an attack that forces Hazel to choose between the kind royal family that has taken her in and educated her and the one Queen even the witches fear that could keep jer dragon safe. There was no OMG ending or anything but....I wanted MORE! Hazel was just coming into her own and I felt like "Things just started!" at the end haha Needless to say, I WILL be reading book two and.....who knows it may make me change my rating from 4 to 5 lol Just too many betrayals going on for my liking but it does make for intense story telling that's for sure 😁 So not a fan of Alastríona after what she did 😤 Always hate when people put THEIR safty and THEIR people above another's. Its one thing to defend oneself and another to attack someone completely innocent for your own gain. What makes you think they aren't concern about their OWN people?! Hmmm?! Learn to defend your own without hurting innocents 😤

Book Review-->Omg this was such a cute read and I need the next book lol! The ending definitely left me wanting to know whats next. I loved the dragon's, the adventure and I loved the romance. It kind of gave me Eragon vibes with the dragon egg and the adventure. The characters and their growth throughout the book was well paced, Hazel is a very likable character. If you love multiple POV's this is the book for you. I enjoyed the back and forth between characters. I highly recommend this book if you love dragon's and fantasy! Also just look at how freaking gorgeous this cover is! The art is so beautiful! ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5Stars
The Final Rider tells the story of two young women with very different walks of life - one an unlikely hero, the other an unlikely villain. Hazel is a young illiterate miner, forced to separate from her family, who incidentally stumbles upon a dragon egg in her walk. The dragon Resgal hatches choosing her to be his dragon rider. The development of Hazel from a meek underconfident woman to gaining greater confidence and learning to read, together with her beautiful friendship with Prince Kendrick, is really a strength of this story. The other tale within this story is that of princess Alastriona, a disposed royal who leads the remnants of her people in the wastelands. Both woman have to make difficult decisions - often for the good of others.
I found the tale of Hazel to be more compelling, but it's a really great story that I highly recommend. The plot is great and the characters are intricate, with Hazel and Kendrick being so likeable. I cannot wait to read more from this author. 4.5/5 stars.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
"Scarred, with a royal crest around her neck, and a dragon on her shoulder. She was starting to look like the way that heroes were described, yet she’d never felt less heroic in her life"
Hazel's life changes when her pickaxe clangs against the shell of the last dragon's egg. When the egg hatches for Hazel, the dragon has chosen her as the final dragon rider. Except dragons have been gone for over two hundred years. Is this dragon hatcing a sign of doom?
Throw in the Wasteland Queen - Alastríona - trying to reclaim her throne by making desperate with her former enemy - the Witch Queen. As well as witch hunters and monsters and we've got a recipe for a good fantasy book!
I found Hazel's journey from being nameless to finally accepting her fate as a Rider convincing and enjoyable to read. There were times I was mentally yelling at Hazel to inspire some confidence in herself. But her journey felt realistic and convincing. I mean who really can go from being a timid peasant to THE final Rider and be totally okay with that dramatic upheaval?
I thoroughly enjoyed the action scenes, the author did a great job of conveying what was happening so vividly. I found it so easy to picture, which in a fantasy book I greatly appreciate.
The world was really interesting and there were lots of crumbs of other creatures and places that I'm quite keen to see more of in the next book. I enjoyed how fleshed out the other characters were, and also very interested to see where their stories go. Especially Typhenete - she has a lot of secrets and a backstory I need to know!
Fair warning, while the book doesn't finish on a cliffhanger it ends in such a way to leave you desperately wanting more.
Being an avid lover of fantasy and love combined together, I was excited to read the The Final Rider. There was also the bonus of there being dragons in the story. I thoroughly enraptured by the beginning of the story as it kept me hooked until the end of the story. There were many twists and turns that were unexpected and got my heart racing. There were points where I cried and points where I laughed. That is how I could tell it was an amazing book. I felt like I was part of the story, deep in the plot and seeing each and every event happen in real time. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy. It kept me hooked and I believe that it will do the same for others. Once I reached the end of the story, I had the feeling of excitement since this is the first book of this series. I cannot wait for more to come.
Two hundred years after the last dragon died, Hazel discovers a dragon egg. The dragon imprints on her after hatching and her life takes a turn from the normal unassuming one she has always wished for. She is taken to the castle to get ready for her new life which no one really knows a lot about.
Alastríona Ashcoven has been hiding and waiting for the right time to get her kingdom back. She gets help from the witches in return for a vial of the dragon's blood. She is ready to go to any lengths to protect her kingdom.
Witches. Witch Hunters. Dragons. Dragon Riders. Monsters. I loved everything about this book! The dragon was obviously my favorite! He snuggled up to her and purred... so I am in love! I loved the characters and the relationships. It was an action-packed and intriguing read!
This book! It's got three of my favorite fantasy things: Witches, Warrior Queens, and Dragons. Elyzabeth weaves an amazing fantasy world populated with strong and genuine characters. (I'm especially taken with all the strong female forces) The most impressive part is the shifting point of view that follows multiple storylines without muddling the strength of the story or overwhelming the reader. Without giving anything away, I loved that by the end we're left wondering who to really root for, as this is a tale with heroes at odds with each other and fate itself. Loved it! Can't wait for book two! #teamResgal4lyfe
Pros: For starters, I want to again praise the cover of TFR. It's what originally drew me in as it's absolutely gorgeous!😍 I really enjoyed the duel pov though Hazel was my favorite!🐉
Cons: The pace to me felt a bit slow. I don't know if it's because I'm still recovering from covid or what but it actually took me a few tries to really get into the story🙈 however once I managed, it really picked up and it turned out really great!
If you are a fan of dragons, slow-burn romance, and clean fantasy, this is YOUR book! Perfect for young readers🥰
This enchanting book is perfect for YA fantasy lovers. If you like dragons, witches, monsters, and lots of action and adventure you should definitely check it out.
The story has everything from women empowerment to LGBT representation. The world building and writing are excellent and I think this would be a great read for fans of Eragon.
This book does have multiple POVs if that’s something you’re not into but I still think it’s worth giving a chance.
Thanks so much to the author and NBB Tours for sending me an eARC!
I really loved how this was written simply but you can still feel the magic and wonder in every line. We get a fantasy world that’s easy to get lost in because we get vampires and dragons and witch hunters and royals! It’s truly an adventure worth taking! I can’t wait to get into the next book in the series 🤩
The world building in this book is amazing! The massive amount of information is relayed in such a great way that you don't spend half the book confused. Highly recommend if you enjoy fantasy, YA, dragons, witches, or monsters. Can't wait for the next book!
A solid dragon rider high fantasy with some great political intrigue. I really enjoyed the world building on this one, and the characters were good fun. I also particularly liked how the bond between dragon and rider developed.
This book is amazing, the writing was fantastic. So easy to get lost in a story. Plus there was dragons! And a strong female lead. I loved every second of this book.
The Final Rider is an excellent mix of tried-and-true classic fantasy tropes with totally new and unique worldbuilding. The lore was fascinatingly crafted and well dispersed throughout the story, and the characters stood out in comparison to your typical fantasy cast.
But where this story really shined for me was the genuine and unapologetic nature of the conflict between two sympathetic main characters. Neither Hazel nor Alastríona are completely innocent or completely guilty, and both truly and only seek to protect the ones they love. However, these characters find themselves on opposite sides of the main conflict, and it’s not due to any misunderstanding, or trick, or divine intervention. It is simply due to circumstance. I have a deep appreciation for Trickey’s willingness (and ability!) to write two characters, neither entirely good or bad, who find themselves as good honest foes with nothing to blame but chance.
I will say, The Final Rider is fairly plot driven as opposed to character driven (which I would not consider a flaw, by any means), but with such endearing characters and dynamics, I personally would have preferred to see the cast and their relationships develop over more time and in more detail.
But overall, this was a very fun and original story that contains more than meets the eye, and I look forward to reading the sequel.
