Nick Kringle is one of the most inventive designers of adult toys. He's also a demanding taskmaster and wants to work through the holidays to have his newest creation ready to hit the store shelves. It's just his luck when he finds one lone toy reviewer left lingering in the break room before the Christmas Eve holiday party. If this hot little bombshell gives his new toy a glowing review, he knows it's ready to go into production.

Most people might think working as an adult toy reviewer is a dream job. But Muriel Geist is just faking her way through it. Still, she's shocked when she's denied the holiday bonus due to a poor performance review from her supervisor at Kringle Knotty or Nice Intimates. She can't go home to her younger siblings, empty-handed for another Christmas. Luckily, when she turns to head out the door, she finds she's standing face to face with tall, dark, and hot Mr. Saint Nick, himself.

Nick offers Muri triple the Christmas bonus to do a little overtime with his newest creation. For that amount of money, Muri's prepared to write him a glowing review, take the money and run to the department store before it closes. Yet to her horror, her hot boss enters the review lab with her, insisting on instant feedback. It doesn't take Nick Kringle long to figure out Muri's deception. But the fact that she fakes her… reviews… intrigues him and makes him want to show her that not only can his toys give her pleasure, but he can as well.

Welcome to a filthy dirty Christmas! Forget sugar and spice and everything nice … this year we want to show off our naughty side. Taboo, dangerous, and over-the-top, we’re bringing you everything you were too scared to ask Santa for.

**Don’t worry, loves, these are still packed with the heroes you crave and the HEA’s you deserve!

DNF at 18%. This book was NOT for me. The heroine was horribly annoying. I only made it through the first chapter about her but she couldn’t shut up about orgasms not being real, she doesn’t even try even though she’s an adult toy reviewer. The author makes it very clear this girl isn’t good at anything and that she’s a little stupid.

I only made it halfway through the heroes chapter. Both his brothers are in RH relationships and that’s the kind of relationship that he prefers. I didn’t stick around long enough to see if this book turned into a RH.

It’s also written in passive third instead of first and that’s what I prefer. Yeah, not good times.

Now Looking For My Own Kringle

Trigger warning: parent with a gambling addiction
I have to admit that I didn't read the synopsis. I like going into the book blind and being surprised. This one definitely had me at toy! This meet cute was so unique and unexpected. (I am trying to be vague because not knowing adds volumes to this story.) I totally understood Muriel's struggle, especially around the holidays with younger siblings. This could happen to anyone with a mother who has an addiction. I really enjoyed everything about this one and will definitely be checking out the backlist of Ines soon at my library.

Being a sex toy reviewer? That’s an interesting job, huh? Add onto it a sexy boss, Christmas and a bit of drama and you got yourself a semi interesting AND very naughty read.

Review : This was a cute and sexy story this is about muri she reviews sex toys the problem is she's been lying in her reviews she's never finished. Until she meets nick one of the kringle owners who offers her double the holiday bonus so he get an accurate review of this new toy . And he does he was able to get her to finish the first guy actually. They end up having sex and until that they were all good until he saw in her bag toys she hadn't used she was going to sell so she could buy toys for her brother and sister he fires her and she leaves . He finds out about the toys she was going to buy and end up buying them for her siblings and offers her a more intimate job I enjoyed this one the most .

Hello Ines Johnson, welcome to my TBR!

This was my first read from Ines, but definitely not my last. This novella didn't feel like too much was packed in or too much was left out. I met Muri and Nick and I feel like I know them. The spicy scenes were *chef's kiss* and there was actually a plot!

I'm read A Filthy Dirty Christmas in order and so far this is definitely my favorite

The couple: Nick and Muri

Romance genre: office romance
Series: A Filthy Dirty Christmas
Length: 68 pages

Plot: Muri is working as a product reviewer at an adult toy company, and she needs this job to help pay for Christmas for her younger siblings. Despite that, she isn't getting her holiday bonus because of a bad performance review. She's the last one out of the building on Christmas Eve, and her boss, owner of the company, Nick stops her. He has great need for a product review, and she'll have to be the one to do it. But maybe they'll both discover something in the process, something more than just the finer points of a sex toy.

Commentary: I've not read any of the others in the series about the sex toy makers so I don't know if those are similar as far as the testing of the toys, but this sure did make me think about how such a company does their product testing and quality control! It never entered my mind that there would be a human element, but I guess that would be helpful. Poor Muri, so jaded at such a young age. I'm glad that Nick relented and didn't let his pride stand in the way of actually figuring out what was going on with her. And I thought they were both kinder than necessary when it came to how they viewed Muri's mother. Fun story!

This could have been a 4★ Novella but god damn it took a while to get used to the the annoying mc AND the POV.

So. The first chapter was awful. Not gonna sugar coat it. Muri, our female mc isn’t likeable, she is terrible at everything she does, she is a liar and almost a thief.

Good thing she somewhat redeems herself by not being self righteous when she got busted by nick. But yeah. It took a while to get to a point where I could genuinely enjoy this read.

Also … the first chapters all danced on the fine line between actually funny and horribly cringe. Luckily once they both did the dirty that cringe feeling went away and I liked them together.

Ah, by the way. We’re getting way too many descriptions of Nick’s brothers Reverse Harem Relationships — almost as if the author wanted to tease those books to the reader. I found it unnecessary and it held up the story too much.
Especially because the author went into detail with his brothers situations not once but twice. The second time around I was literally thinking to myself “yeah. I got it the first time. I don’t like it. Move on”

But besides that I liked the novella.
It’s a fun read once the cringe has passed. Nick acts appropriately to Muri’s attempted theft and shows a lot of compassion.

Also, a male hero with Snow White hair is so unusual. It took a bit to adjust my mental default picture that I conjure up all the time when reading novellas, but once I warmed up to it it was great.
Something different, u know?

Finally - I really liked the writing style. It felt like a satisfying Novella at the end. And that’s what I’m here for.

I have nothing against the idea of the story. An adult toy reviewer is new on me and sounds like an interesting job. What did put me off first was their names, okay, so Nick Kringle not so bad but kind of cheesy with the whole toy shop company. And the Muri (muriel) I really just didn't like it. It really just didn't seem fitting. And then the whole she rgought that orgasams were a myth?? I understand not 5 able to achieve one and no one else doing it for you, but not believing in them is plain ridiculous. Especially when you work for an adult toy company. But I didn't mind the whole boss/employee situation, and with the hands-on feedback, it was kind of hot

I'm buddy reading the Filthy Dirty Christmas books with Michelle as they come out this year. This is the 3rd. For our mini reviews we're asking 4 questions...

(1) what did you like/dislike about the hero? Honestly, didn't get to know him THAT well. But his commitment to toy "research" was enticing. And he made a really sweet move at the end that won bonus points in my book.

(2) what did you like/dislike about the heroine? Muri is the reason I loved this book - she's complex for a novella. Her care for her younger siblings with absentee parents made me love her.

(3) how would you rate the romance/steam factor? Muri had never had an orgasm before (not a virgin BTW) so her shock when she does and the use of toys really made this a sizzling read.

(4) overall rating and why? I gave it 4 stars because there was a real story here. It wasn't just sex. I actually marked some of Ines Johnson's other books to read because I think we met some of the characters and I want to read their stories.

Qualifies for COYER Fall Scavenger Hunt Item #6 - Read a book with a Christmas theme.

Very quick read but decent storyline. Muri has never experienced an orgasm before and is blown away when she finally does, at the hands of her boss after requesting a personal review of a new sex toy he’s created. There are some errors throughout the book, and this could’ve used a little more spice / more story making it longer. Nonetheless a quick, fun read and great palette cleanser (which is what I needed)!

Not Quite a Stand-alone, Somehow

Muri has some tough circumstances, carrying a chip on her shoulder so big that she’s basically checked out, other than making her younger siblings feel normal. Kris is work-obsessed, and willing to break all the rules to achieve his next goal.

Kris’ character seems to be a part of a larger world, and his story feels incomplete without reference to those previous stories.

How can people who DNF books rate books they didn’t even finish????

Anyways. 🙄

Yes the main female is slightly annoying with her disbelief in the fact orgasms exist. I see lots of negative reviews had a problem with her being “stupid” and unlikeable.

Is every book supposed to be the same? Does every book need every character to be perfect and likeable?

Her never having had an orgasm , and the fact a lot of women have trouble climaxing , I didn’t at all find this “unbelievable” or “annoying”. Plus it kinda works into the plot, duh.

Also a lot of reviewers complained that the male talks about his past exploits and sharing women and then complained about his brothers having polyamorous relationships …judgy much? Why is that “weird”?

People with closed minds honestly shouldn’t be reading any kind of smut. Let’s be real here.

Also one reviewer complained about the author including backstory on the females personal life, saying it “wasn’t needed” ………..like, what? Her backstory is the reasoning for her needing the job and needing the money that her boss offers her for the emergency review of his product. AND the backstory allows the male character the chance to be the hero in the end. Soooooooo???

Anyways , as for MY OWN review.
It was good. Other than a few typo errors. Nothing terrible though.

I enjoyed the “product review” scene. Hot. Which honestly, there wasn’t any of the normal graphic or vulgar vocabulary that I enjoy or am used to with spice. But it still had me and prompted my own “product review” time. So. There’s that.

I know a lot of people tend to rate novellas low. Because they’re short and don’t have a ton of building with the characters and story and such. But YOU SIGNED UP FOR A NOVELLA. It’s not going to have all the packings of a 400 page book!!! So quit giving crappy ratings to authors for it being “short” or “not long enough” DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT A NOVELLA IS?!?! Yeesh!!!

Also if you can’t suspend reality just a bit, quit reading fiction. 🙄

If a Hallmark Christmas movie and 50 Shades of Grey had a love child, it would be Knotty or Nice! And it is definitely on the nice list.

The Kringle boys all had a bit of kink in them. And they'd all been Boy Scouts who'd earned their rope badges and promptly brought the skill into the bedroom.

Muriel works for Kringle Knotty or Nice Intimates as a sex toy product reviewer, but there’s one glaring problem: she believes orgasms to be imaginary. Trying to earn enough money to give her family a good Christmas, she’s determined to do whatever it takes even if it means faking it in front of her boss.

As a product, his heart was temporarily unavailable. It had been so long that Nick wondered if the item was permanently out of stock.

Nick is dedicated to his craft and because of that, he’s good at his job of making the most enjoyed sex toys on the market. However, when it comes to playtime outside the office, he hasn’t met anyone who peaks his interest yet - until Muriel.

Try to make it to the door and I’ll catch you around the waist and fuck you against the door frame.

This is a great seasonal read that’s quick, entertaining, and has a good deal of spice to it. Definitely one of the top 3 in the FDC collection!

Muri and Nick

Muri works as a reviewer except she lies for her reviews of the toys she is given - for a very particular reason. Muri is down on her luck but she loves her twin brother and sister - even if she has to steal for them to have a real Christmas. When her manager gives her a negative job review she misses out on the bonus that would have made her family have a Christmas to remember. Nick needs an urgent review for his latest invention. Nick sees Muri and needs her help. He works out her secret very quickly.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging entertaining and unique story! Two jaded, world weary, imperfect people find that they are perfect for each other. Both characters are very different from the trope of romantic hero/heroine and I found that I actually liked them. I really liked the author's writing style and the characters are so interesting that I immediately became hooked into the story! I LOVED how Nick fell for Muri. The story is well written, fast paced with lots of chemistry that sizzles the kindle! There's an epilogue and a HEA 💓

Knotty or Nice, part of A Filthy Dirty Christmas, was about Muriel "Muri" Geist, an adult toy reviewer, and Nick Kringle, the owner and CEO of Kringle Knotty or Nice Intimates.
I don't even know where to begin with this review. The story was different, but not in a good way. The FMC, who had several relationships in the past (doesn't mention a current BF), had never obtained a release with said partners. This girl couldn't keep a job and had only been with the current company for a few weeks. But even though she was a product reviewer, she wasn't honest in her reviews because: 1) she didn't test the products, and 2) she didn't believe a woman could have an orgasm, therefore she lied each time she gave a review. That became obvious when the boss asked her to do "an emergency review" and stayed to watch.
The MMC was kind of okay, but then he had to go and have sex with his employee whom he had asked to do an "emergency review" for him. That wasn't okay. That was a bit creepy, IMHO. I just couldn't enjoy the book. I gave it only a one-star rating.

This one is funny. Nick Kringle and his brothers own an adult toy shop. They put out only the best product for women. Muri is a tester. See where I am going. However Muri really doesn’t test the product. She figures why bother. It is all fake. Women really don’t orgasm with toys. It’s when she is caught by Nick for a last minute review that things heat up. I have to say this was pretty funny. For one, if you are reviewing something, you really need to go all in even if it is a toy. No one wants to read about the design. That is already posted with the product. The fact that she has to review it and in front of Nick, THAT is not only funny but hot. Her “review” that she gives him in the beginning cracked me up. It was after that it really got hot. But beyond the fun there is a sadness too. Muri needed the job to get gifts for her siblings. It will make you tear up. A great Christmas read with a twist and a great feeling of love and joy.

Meh.

I have never read from this author and I don't know if I will again. No offense but I just couldn't get into this book. It's about three brothers who own a toy business but have branched out into adult sex toys. Ok I could see that. The h is a "tester" who has never actually tested any off the products because hey orgasms aren't real. All the boyfriends and hook ups she's had have never done it for her so it's just a myth, right? (insert eye roll) She just seemed tstl. The H came off as kind of a jerk. He also talks about all the sex he's had. Sharing women with his friends and brothers and strangers at orgies. Uhm yeah ok, what? There's more to the story but eh. Just weird. I felt no real love connection between the two. Again not my cup of tea.
This is of course my own opinion and I focused on plot points others might not.

Meh

While I like this series, this story didn't do it for me.
***SPOILER***
The h isn't likable. I didn't need to know that she was a crappy student, that her siblings are holy terrors and that her mother is a negligent parent. She goes on and on about how she believes orgasms are fake, but never gives us the reason why she believes they're fake other than she's never had one (I guess that's enough reason), and because she's never had one every other woman in the world must be lying about having had one. Oh, and she's a liar and a thief.
I did like the hero, and he reacted appropriately to the events that were happening in the story.
I get that this is supposed to be a short novella, but it didn't feel like an entire story . Conversely, it felt entirely too long.
Thank goodness I only paid $0.99 for this.

Really good but don't get attached

I read this book because I was going down the Filthy Christmas list. If I'd realized who the author was, I might not have. This book is REALLY very good and has a great premise. The heat is next level and it makes you want to dive into the other stories in this world.....and there's the problem. This author does not put her books on KU. I had the same problem with the first book in her Watchers Crew series. Again it was really good and spicy but I read 5-6 books/ day and I can't pay $4 each for them. Maybe if it was a 99 cent one because they are well written and we'll edited. There's some mention at the end of the book about how she wants her books available in local libraries and how you can't do that if they are on KU. Just be aware that if you want to read the rest of her books, you'll have to pay.

This story gave a whole new image to Mr. Kringle and the toy making business. He still aims to make his customers happy. And wants to ensure they keep coming...
But when he finds Muriel on a hunt for a last minute review of a toy, everything changes....for him and for her.
While he's one of the hot and successful owners of Knotty or Nice. Muriel is at the bottom as a reviewer but she has a secret. During this late review, Nick finds out her secret...and then finds out something else...
Nick's heart and mind are at war with one another so he has to dig a little deeper....
Nick and Muri are hot together even when they don't initially try to be. But is this a one time late night review and then over because of what he finds out? Or can it be salvaged for Christmas?
