Thorne Hill #9

Blood of Night

Rate this book
They say when one door closes, another opens. And in my case, that door leads right to Hell—literally. Though it’s not necessarily a bad thing, as crazy as it may sound since this specific hell dimension is ruled by Osiris, God of the Underworld.

And he just might be the only one who can help me save the world from the total devastation the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will bring. But he’s also the only one standing between me and Lucas, who sacrificed everything so I could live. I’ll do whatever it takes to save him, and if anyone gets in my way, blood will spill. In an attempt to keep the world from completely imploding, Osiris wants to make a he’ll help free my husband in exchange for me staying in the Underworld with him, ruling by his side. It’s not a deal I’d agree to, until I realize how close the archangels are to finding out who I really am. If there’s one thing I know about Hell, it’s that it makes one hell of a hiding place…

Waste of my time. Another book or TWO in a year.

I'm sorry but I am so mad.

Nothing happens in the first 3/4 of this book. Callie is sad. Callie wants Lucas back. The baby cries and doesn't sleep. I expected it to be the end and I was ready for it! We waited a whole year for this finale that has dragged on through 9 books. And finally when things start to happen in the last 30 pages, BAM another cliffhanger with ANOTHER year to wait (Summer 2023) with a promise of not one, but maybe TWO books.

I have loved this series from the beginning, but I feel robbed of my precious time on this book. A bad taste has been left in my mouth by thus author and I'm honestly going to just let the series go and never think of it again.

I'm not sure what it is but I'm not a fan of vampire books (with the exception of Twilight), so I don't read them. The moment I read The Thorne Hill Series blurbs, I knew that I wanted to give them a shot, and man, I'm so glad I did. Blood of Night is the 9th book, and since they aren't even close to standalones, you have to read them in order because there's a lot to unpack with all the layers upon layers. Callie has so much going on through her journey that it was exhausting for me LOL! She's with Lucas, but he's not around at this time (I cannot tell you why) so things aren't looking very good at all. And it feels like she has enemies from all directions so the twists are definitely coming in hot as she's trying to save the world, and her love so the twists are coming in hot. I was on the edge of my seat cover to cover because it was impossible to put down so when you take it on (and y'all should most definitely take it on) you may not want to start it before bedtime. Anyway, this is the first time I've had to contend with a brutal cliffhanger since I came to the party late, and now I'm dying inside for more! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Another book full of mistakes. Another book of the same things said over and over and over again. I love the plot and story line, so I keep reading, but this author needs a better editor.
Callie is sad. Callie wants Lucas. Baby needs to nurse.

Spoilers ahead.

By the time the climax of the book happened, I felt like the first half or more of the book was a complete waste of time. It doesn’t play in to the story hardly at all. Especially the djinn. It happened and then she stopped it and that was it. There was literally no point to this and added nothing to the story line.
The end battle felt extremely rushed. Bam zombies. Bam smoke and ravens. Bam baby gone. Bam baby back. She could have removed so much of the beginning story to really draw out the ending action.
And Lucas just coming back all of a sudden after a few days? What? Just bad story telling, in my opinion.

I will continue the series because I am curious how this will end, but I don’t think I will ever read more from this author unless she gets a better editor. I shouldn’t have to annotate a book as much as I do with this series, especially a New York Times best selling author.

Ugh, so I have been in a book slump since the ending of the last book I read.so reading anything has been slow going.

But I wanted to dive back into the Thorne Hill world, and get answers. (Yes, all the previous books must be read in order, before diving into book 9).

After Lucas was taken as one of the Four Horsemen, Callie will stop at nothing to get her husband back, no matter the costs. But Lucas' disappearance isn't the only thing the powerful witch has to deal with- between being a new mom, a powerful demon attempting to break out of hell, the angels threatening to reign down upon Callie being an abomination and a centuries old vampire coming to try an enlist Callie and Lucas to his cause, it must be another Tuesday for Callie.

I am still so insanely in love with these books & world, & the epic love story between Callie & Lucas.

Callie is still so bad ass. She is strong & powerful & a mom who can do it all at that. And I love seeing her, and her friends, family & Lucas' story.

I cannot wait to see what the next book brings. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

I always love getting the notification that the next Thorn Hill book has arrived. Blood of Night did not disappoint one bit, and I read it in one sitting. Lucas and Callie's love story is so captivating and the magic surrounding them is amazing. I cannot get enough of these books and have already preordered the next book King of Night for when it comes out next year. I found this series by chance downloading the first one on a whim. The series became one of my favorite series very quickly and I have them on my phone, kindle, and even physical copies. I feel a connection to Callie, mostly over our love of mac n cheese, wine, Disney, and cats. She is a very relatable character, making reading these books more fun. I highly recommend this series to anyone who wants to know what to read next.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I had to play catch up for this series, but I am not upset by that in the slightest. I read the blurb for this one which made me want to read it but then I saw that the books are not even close to being standalones so I had to dive into books 1-8. If you want to try it as well I can totally recommend it as I was unable to stop reading once I got started. Lucas and Callie have a love story for the ages but that does not mean anything has been easy for them. Just when you think things might be able to work out for them we get a surprise twist thrown into the mix that throws everything up in the air leading to a doozy of a cliff hanger that will have you wishing the next book was out now instead of next summer. A must read series!! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Omg Emily Goodwin has done it again ❤️ it!!! It was an amazing continuous of the story. There was so much action suspense and emotions in the story that she had me into the from page 1 to the last pages. Since this was an early arc was able to enjoy this book and wow so many things happened ie like the alternative reality part with Eason that threw me off 🤷🏻‍♀️. Paimon fight and the confrontation with the tree archangels. Can wait for of the story since this ended via cliffhanger and she is awesome in her ways of ending the stories.

I had to binge 1-9 first!!

But. Oh. My. Goddesses! Best damn book series I've read in...I think forever. I pre-ordered number 10 and I NEVER pre order books lol. This series has a bit of Buffy, a bit of Angel, Supernatural...and it's all unique. I'm so glad I stumbled over the first book on Kindle and I'm equally happy I bought the rest. I can't wait to see what else happens with Callie and Lucas. Oh and I signed the petition...I really need this to get made into a tv show, or miniseries. Movies if each book will be a movie. But. Just. Wow. 10/10

Oh The Lies That Have Been Woven!!

Goodness gracious the demons, zombies and birds!! Sheesh! This was one hell of an ending to this one. Boy the ups and downs and then there’s the Jump the Shark Chapters that frustrated me but I kept going. Yeah Lucas!!!!! Osiris sure seemed decent but nothing comes for free. Callie is in for it! Omg 😩😩😩😩 well it has really been a fantastic series! I’m sad for its end!! #10 coming up!! 😢😢😢 I highly recommend reading this series. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊

I love Lucas and Callie’s continuing story. This one ended on another cliff hanger and now I’ll be anxiously awaiting next summer’s release. It does feel like it’s about time for them to finally catch a break.

The book is nice in a way and not in a way. I especially don't like the part of the alternate scenarios. Bloody confusing. I still hope that the author will finally put an ending to this nice couple instead of overdoing with the writing.
