Not sure what is up with the bad reviews. Just because this person doesn't subscribe to YOUR idea of "correct" doesn't mean it is "uneducated" or wrong. I absolutely enjoyed this book and it has really been useful for me.

I am a long time pagan who is totally disorganized LOL I crave ritual and order, but it needs to be MINE because what calls to me is so eclectic...Well, there just doesn't seem to be a tradition I fit in. And I reject rigid rules and hierarchy which seems to be demanded from many already established traditions. So I needed to make my own, but I had no idea where to start. This book is designed for someone just like that. This book is a collection of ideas and suggestions- not rules. That is why some say it is "vague". I didn't find it vague at all. It just isn't a book of initiation into the author's tradition or anyone else's- it is about initiating yourself into a tradition YOU develop. And I think it has the perfect balance between information, suggestions, and flexibility.

I didn't get a lot out of this book. It's more of a stepping stone guide to Wiccan practise, outlining the possibilities of study and branching practises. In this way, I guess it succeeds. It has a long term, if life long, approach, but doesn't offer much insight in itself. If you are looking for a guide as to what you can do to call yourself an initiated solitary Wiccan, this book will be useful, otherwise it doesn't have much to offer.

Might be useful to folks at the Scott Cunningham beginner level of being very PC and not very well informed. The bibliography reveals all (the author has not read any serious or good books).

I loved this book, and recommend it to any beginner of the Craft. This was the grounding of me coming into my self way-back-when, and it's a book I'm constantly going back to.
