Praise for Aiden James:

"Aiden James is a master storyteller... Out-freaking-standing-excellent!" ~Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews for Plague of Coins

"We are watching a master at work." ~J.R. Rain, Bestselling Author of the Vampire for Hire series

About Maid of Heaven:

The year 1429, in the region of Orlèans France, sets the stage for the emergence in history of one very brave girl: Joan of Arc.

It also marks a key moment in the evolution of one of the most reviled men to ever walk the earth. Emmanuel Ortiz—better known as the immortal Judas Iscariot—may not understand why he is drawn to serve Joan and her desire to free France from the specter of English tyranny. However, he is compulsively drawn to her unusual mixture of innocence and grit to the point her noble cause becomes his own.

But with any adventure involving Judas, this one comes with danger and heartache—as great as any he has endured during the past fifteen-hundred-years walking the earth. Fortunately, Roderick Cooley is also along for the ride, ready to rescue his long time friend when trouble is found. In the case of Joan of Arc, enemies and potential pitfalls abound.

The arrival of a long time enemy hell-bent on making sure Judas/Emmanuel never finds lasting peace or love spurs Joan and her immortal companion to make difficult choices that could forever alter the course of history. Can the struggle between an accursed disciple seeking to better understand the will of God Almighty and the anointed teenage girl given to visions she cannot turn away from be happily resolved?

…Or, must Joan forego all of her personal desires in order to save France from falling into oblivion?

These questions and more are waiting to be answered in Maid of Heaven.

This is my favorite book n the series; I was reading an ARC and there were errors that I assume were corrected before publication but these errors did not diminish my enjoyment of the book. In this book Emmanuel/Judas joins Joan of Arc in her fight to free France from English oppressors. His reasons are altruistic and for the most part he acts honorably. Of course, Judas cannot completely change is ways but he tries to be the best person he can be because believes Joan is “an angel of God”. Roderick joins him and they both act to ensure that Joan remains alive and that the Dauphin Charles is crowned king as Joan wishes.

Joan does not believe that he is who he stays and that they are both immortal at first but as time goes by she does. Unfortunately, Emmanuel runs into others that hate him because of issues in the past that the reader is told about as the story unfolds. Then there is Procrustes, an evil, ancient immortal shapeshifter who the immortals have dealt with in the past who at first is helping the English. When he decides to change sides and Joan refuses his help he vows to destroy her. The authors have done a wonderful blending fact and fiction.

I would rate the entire series at 4 stars (I read and reviewed the first two books using my Kindle Unlimited subscription) and I plan on reading the Judas Chronicles as a KU selection to continue the story.

4.75/5 STARS: **I want to thank the author and/or publisher for providing me with a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review; all opinions are mine.**

I’ve read the Judas Chronicles and enjoyed them.
Not so much, the Judas. They don’t measure up. I don’t think I’ll read any others in this series.

I hadn't read any of the books by these authors about the immortal Judas before, but I was particularly interested in this one because it involves Joan of Arc, one of my favorite historical personages. I received a free copy of The Maid of Heaven from the publisher, Curiosity Quills, in return for this honest review.

I liked the portrayal of Joan of Arc for the most part. She is courageous and has tremendous fortitude. When she was wounded with an arrow, she drew it out herself. I have read of this stalwart Joan in many books. What I liked best is that the authors humanized Joan without making her less strong.

I might be interested in following future adventures of the immortal Judas--especially if he encounters any other favorite female historical personages.

What an excellent addition to The Judas Reflections series. It was great to return to a quest with Judas and Roderick and gain insight into Judas back in his past. I enjoyed the introduction of Joan d'Arc and seeing her as a deeply religious farm girl who acted on her convictions. I found myself on the edge of my seat as the story unfolded, and I cannot wait for the next book.

Enjoy the read

I admit that I binge read all 3 books and the 7 Judas Chronicles. I found the stories intertwined with history captivating. The author kept the books tied together well while leaving each to stand on their own. I would recommend to anyone!!!

Great read!

This series gives a thoughtful overview of Judas as Emanuel Ortiz and his travels with Joan of Arc. Roderick's support of Judas is commended.
