Creative thinking is something everyone can do. It's a way of looking at the world afresh, doing new things in new ways, taking risks. With The Creative Nudge, use 'nudge theory' to unleash your innate originality. A new behavioural science that reveals how small actions can have big impacts on our thinking, nudge theory powers this book. Using simple behaviour changes, retrain your brain and live a more creative and rewarding life.
I like nudge theory, but honestly didn't find anything that really resonated with me in this book. A better title for this book might have been "The creative nudge - for neurotypical thinkers wishing to break the mould of their education" This book certainly isn't for neuro spicy people, and a lot of the prompts would actually be harmful for an ADHD mind. That said, I loved the graphic layout, the way that there were action steps at each chapter end. Although some examples given felt a little at cross purposes at points, but if you were to dip into a chapter a week and complete the homework tasks that week, I think you would get the most benefit from it.
This was a great, quick read, all about the habits that we do unconsciously that create barriers to creativity. This book has 9 chapters with a brief science-y part at the start of each part and then 6-7 practical creative nudges that you can implement into your daily life to break those habits and bring yourself back to a place of creativity. Loved this book - it’s quick, sharp, hard-hitting, and practical.
The Creative Nudge: Simple Steps to Help You Think Differently by Kevin Chesters, and Mick Mahoney My review will be available August 4th. I vacillated between a 3 .5 and a 4, but decided on the book being a 5!
