This book covers 5 archaeological excavations and what they uncovered about Custer's last stand, slave life at Monticello, the "Five Points" district of New York City, the explorer La Salle's ship the Belle, and the original Jamestown fort. I found all of them interesting and would have enjoyed reading more detail about all of them. I particularly liked reading about the excavation of Jamestown's original fort, a completely undisturbed site. Wish I could have participated!
