People say, if Charlie Pratt had a penny for every blunder, he'd fill his pockets and then misplace his trousers.

In October the Campton river clears, and the levels drop offering a perfect excuse to get out in the crisp morning air and scour the rocks for snagged hooks and toads. It's about as close as Charlie has come to magic... until he meets the strange but beautiful Dalia Addair.

While trying to learn more about her, he unwittingly slots himself into her magical trial—a trial she's spent her whole life preparing for. He gets a day.

But something's wrong; the trial holds its own secrets, and powerful forces will do whatever it takes to stop them.

The only way to survive is to finish the trials and block the way forever.

But first, Charlie and Dalia have to learn to work together—if they don't strangle each other first.

Quirky, fast-paced, and brimming with humour and charm, Fableman is a young adult fantasy that shows how even the most unlikely hero will step forward to do what it takes—when there's a ten-foot troll on his ass.

This story starts off with Charlie being an odd kid. When he decides to go on the school roof to look for balls to 5 thought was well. This is not what I was expecting.

So when what he thinks is an ogre chases him, I thought, well, this is the perfect kid for this fantasy that he's stumbled into. He's already a strange kid.

When Dalia finds him, at first I was like, I just want the fantasy friend that doesn't say" oh you suck normal person, watch out or you'll ruin everythjng" and instread is like " wow you are so cool! We compliment each other's skill set, but, as I read, Dalia's attitude started making sense .

I wish the group of Charlie, Dalia, Thomas, and Allie were together through the whole book. I really liked that dynamic. It was no longer just Dalia being impatient with Charlie. It was all four interacting. And adding the other two somehow made Charlie and Dalia like each other more, maybe because they stopped bickering.

With that came Charlie being more confident with a wand, and Dalia trusted him and them combining magical force. Dalia's test was crazy, and the solution they both agreed on was more crazy. I think the butterfly effect of that would be far-reaching.

The surprise about Dalia is not one that I saw coming. Not that I ever do, but it made her character have another level that I wasn't sure how I felt about.

Is this going to be a series? I really think it could be.

A wonderful adventure.

The story was unique. The characters were interesting. The fast-paced adventure was a roller-coaster ride. I truly enjoyed this experience and am recommending it to everyone. Now, on to the next book.
