I love the book cover of this Book, full of short stories that was supposed to be haunting but unfortunately I found them average, not spooky not atmospheric. There was one or two surprises of the short stories but most were lacklustre on the scary front for me.

Do Not Pass Up This Spine Chillers!!!!

A week ago I read a great read. It was a book of short spooky tales. I thought I'd finally found a good book on short scary stories and I was amazed to have found it. I thought it was a one-of.
Until this week when I cracked open Spine Chillers and found myself lost in this writers, Mark L'Estranges, weird and spooky World. I said in my other review that there's no way to compare these writers to anyone else in the horror/spooky genre. These lesser read horror authors should be known and read just as much as writers who are bringing back books that they wrote years ago, with 1 new chapter. 🙄This writer brings "it" to the table, and I'm hungry for more of L'Estranges offerings. These stories have meat to them. I mean each story is good.

Disappointing. 2 or 3 stories out of like 12 were actually good and made me feel tense. The rest were fairly boring and predictable. Nothing happened in most of them until a 'twist', which I use very loosely, on the last page and then ending. I almosted dnf'd but didn't wanna take the chance of missing a good story. Also, why do literally all of the stories involve some sort of perverted man being entranced by beautiful supernatural women and all of a sudden not being able to control themselves, with the women as the villains? I wouldn't recommend

Continuity errors

Throughout the entire book, there are continuity errors.

I.E. Characters having their names changed 2/3rds of the way through the story and never reverting back. This happens multiple times throughout the book.

Aside from that the stories have very long build ups and endings that feel rushed/don't make sense with the rest of the plot.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this for even the 99c I paid. It had the right idea, but sorely lacked in execution.

I liked the stories but the Audible narration is so appalling that I thought it was a robot. Clearly British stories told in an American accent, a few tales with male characters narrated with a female intonation and just simply bad, bad. It's remarkable how I still liked the stories despite this.

A bit like the old Hammer Horror movies. A little gore, a little implied see, a simple story. Problem is you usually know what the story is, and how it will end within the first couple of pages. Easy reading but with no lasting memories.

Some good stories

A nice mix of old fashioned and modern horror/ghost stories. Cat -Girl and Nurse Nancy being two stand out stories within.

Great short stories

I enjoyed reading all of the stories in this book. I've found a new author to follow. I've already purchased his book called Ghost Song written in 2019.

Really great anthology.

The name really fits this book, several of the stories did send a chill up my spine. Great characters. I would love to see some of these made into films.

The vampire story was my absolute favorite and would love to see the author expand on that story.

Fun collection!

A rather varied collection of stories but they were all very good. My favourite was the last one. Definitely putting on my wishlist for a physical copy!
