Who will win the war for my soul?

My return to my mates has brought unexpected joys—and warnings of danger to come. But as we prepare for war with the greatest enemies of the Mists, a new ally arrives with an even more dire revelation.

I haven't escaped the sadistic Murk king after all. His magic lurks inside me, sinking in its vicious claws. However he can use me to torment the fae I love, he will.

The man who once stood beside him may hold the key to saving all of us. But he and my mates have centuries of hate to overcome. Blood will be shed, lives will be lost... and one of them might be mine.

This book was one big eyeroll about how nice, kind, caring, compassionate, thoughtful and special talia is. Ugh.

Well that was a heart breaker! Holy crap, definitely the heaviest book in this series, and it didn’t start out light and breezy by any stretch. But this one is brutal.

Hitting my head against the wall to finish this series. Despite how much the author wants to portray the love interests as non-transactional in terms of what the MFC provides as the cure to the fae curse none of the four mates are good about listening to the MFC's instincts. Madoc as the last mate to this reverse harem is by far the most devoted/best match out of all the lovers and is really the only one who always puts the MFC first. But of course we have to deal with a whole new curse on the MFC in this book on top of the preexisting curses and a pregnancy/miscarriage. Again, there's a lot going on, but this series doesn't sustain all of the moving parts well.

Damn. This one was heart-wrenching. See Talia that close to death with the curse was heart breaking. And oh, don't get me started about Madoc's cure. I was bawling. But there is no break for Talia, now her and her mates have to fend off the Murk king and his ambush. How they are going to pull that off, well that remains to been seen.

yay

I love the ending even though there was so much heartache and turmoil during! It hurts my heart for the loss that happened especially knowing this happens a lot in real life. It really hits the nail on the head with real world problems.

The most emotionally moving book of the series! Holy cow!! I’m not sure I’m ready to read the final book.

I couldn't stop myself from listening to this audiobook almost in 2 sittings. I had to force myself to stop what I was doing because I was so engrossed in this story. I was so happy to see this was released so quickly after I finished book 7 (literally the next day haha) so I didnt have long to wait to see what would be happening next with Talia and her complicated men. I won't give things away but this storyline does a great job at messing with your emotions haha. I havent been so frustrated with Talia's mates until this book in particular haha. I was screaming at my phone like COME ON PEOPLE, YOU KNOW BETTER hahaha. If you've listened/read you would understand my reaction! So let's say they finally see the error in their ways but almost was too late and at a huge cost. Part 8 of this series did a really good job driving home the insanity the Murk leader was willing to go to, the love and devotion Talia and her mates have for one another (even the budding friendships/brotherhoods), and the budding relationship and feelings Talia and Madoc try to fight and ignore. I knew what was coming but I didnt know the author was going to do the big reveal at the end (totally wasn't crying or again yelling at my phone, at a different character from the stories this time). Amazing job, cannot wait for book 9 to be here, but dreading it all the same. I know the author will do a phenomenal job wrapping up this epic fantasy story ❤️

In terms of the narration, I thought this was Savannah and Ryan's shining moment from the series. There are so many things that go on here that they have to portray with careful performances and intonations and they do a brilliant job of it. There are so triggering events that they do a great job acting, had me in tears. They did a great job bringing these characters to life, making us feel their happiness, pain, wariness, and joy. 5/5 easily from me!

I will say the only thing I think could have been better was just an overall trigger warning. There may have been, to be honest, but it wasn't performed on the audiobook so I am not sure. There was a traumatic event and I know if I had lived through something similar this would have triggered me. I haven't thank goodness but it might be a good idea to add something (if it was already added to the ebook, ignore this, it just wasn't included in the narration so I wasn't sure).

Heart Wrenching Yet Breathtaking
My review is written voluntarily after both reading and then listening to this book, I have to say I enjoyed the read but listening to it lifted the story to a whole new level.

This is one of those series where you become totally enthralled by the storyline and even though you know that the book will end on a cliffhanger you can't stop listening. Fortunately, the wait between books isn't too long but even so, I admit to hating the wait. With each instalment, we learn more about the characters as the talented Eva Chase gives us greater insight into what makes them tick.

This book picks up where the last book left off with Talia safely back with her mates due to the help given her by Madoc, a Knight of Orian's Murk Court. Unfortunately, she's not escaped unscathed, Orian has now triggered a new curse this one on Talia herself, she's now become his latest tool to destroy the Fae of the Mists starting with her beloved mates.

Madoc is sent into the Mists by Orian to spy on Talia and to report back on how well his plan is working but Madoc, wants peace between the Fae of the Mists and the Murk, he doesn't want an all-out war and the deaths that will bring on both sides. He presents himself to Silas and offers his help to bring this about but will the Fae overcome their prejudice against the Murk? Can Madoc be trusted? Or is he following Orian's orders?

As he tries to convince the Fae that in this instance he can be trusted his hopes are thwarted at every turn and we are left with more questions and even more plot twists. Of all the books this one moved me most, the story is so sad as it seems that no matter what Talia and her four mates will be forever parted. There is so much love, so much heartache and yet so much hope. Keep your tissues handy because this book the penultimate one in this series is the most heart wrenching yet breathtaking so far. I am, of course, eager to listen to the next book but in a way, I'm dreading it too because that will mean my visits to the mists are over.

The narration for this book, the whole series, in fact, is by Savannah Peachwood and Ryan West who do such a wonderful job and as they bring the characters to life.

Chained Soul was such a great read. Madoc has returned to warn Talia that Orien isn't done with her yet and his plans not only threaten the fae of the Mists but Talia as well. Things are looking dire, and Orien isn't gonna stop until he has what he wants, total control.

Talia has such a big heart and is so open, and not just ideas but people as well. Being a human among the fae is hard but Talia is smart and uses her intelligence to find her voice and stand up for what she believes is right.

Madoc and Talia are working together in this one, trying to stop the war from happening. Madoc is very open to the idea and is trying despite the fae of the Mist discrimination. Talia's other mates try to work with Madoc but old prejudices are hard to get over. Madoc is actually a decent guy who cares for Talia, I like him a lot. He put up a lot of injustices but still kept coming back. Not gonna. There was a moment in with him that had me in my emotions.

As for Talia other mates, Whitt shined a little more in this one, he's more open to working with Madoc and shed him in a new light even if things weren't perfect. Even with all the bad behavior of Talias other mates I still love the guys, they seemed to learned their lesson by the end and their love for Talia is just as strong as ever.

The plot was emotional driven and after seven books there's no doubt that I'm in it. It was interesting seeing the rats, ravens and wolves come together. I'm surprised that the wolves and ravens have come together in this one. They have a bigger issues to deal with, the cruel Murk kings attacks. Surprisingly enough the ravens have actually are nicer to Talia in this one, I'm they have been but even the leaders are starting to respect her intelligence. There was a lot of hard hits but things come together for a happier ending than I could have hoped for.

The end is drawing near, Chained Soul was the eighth book in the Bound to the Fae series which means there's only one more book left. It all comes to ahead in the final book, Heart of the Mists and its gonna take a miracle for Talia to get a HEA but she's worked them before so maybe she has one or two left.

In the first chapter we find out that Talia is pregnant. The arch lords are trying to figure out what to do with the Murk (Rats) when Madoc comes into their lands to warn Talia of a curse the king had activated within her. They didn’t welcome him and were cautious of having Talia face him until she persuaded her mates. Madoc decided to help the wolf and ravens with their plans to stop the king all for Talia’s sake and finding a way to break her curse. Nobody trusted Madoc even after the many attempts in which he proved his loyalty there were just too many untrustworthy feelings between all the fae. Due to the curse Talia ended up losing her child and almost dying. All of her mates were ambushed trying to heal her when it happened and they blamed Madoc and called him a traitor. Madoc didn’t want Talia to get hurt so he went back to the king to try and get some more information and he found a way to break the curse. Someone who loves her must willingly give up their life by their own hand and soak her in their life’s essence. After all the distrust and doubt Talia’s mates were feeling toward Madoc he didn’t care and still snuck into the palace to try and break her curse because he was the only one who would be able to. The curse wouldn’t allow her mates to take their own lives. August ran into the room and saw Madoc with a dagger next to Talia and almost killed him thankfully with the last of her strength Talia was able to convince August to trust her and listen to what he had to say before collapsing. Seeing that August still had no trust in him Madoc told August his true name so he can command him not to hurt her. Madoc gave his life to free Talia of the curse and thanks to him the curse was broken. She refused to believe he was completely gone and had her mates carry him to the Mist. The mist granted him a new life and all her mates agreed to let Madoc join their circle and become one of her mates as well.

After Talia's return back to her mates from the Murk there was a lot of joy (some unexpected) but some warnings of danger that is still to come. So as they prepare for the inevitable war with enemies of the Mists a new ally arrives was a new revelation that is far far worse than they could ever have imagined. It seems that Talia has not completely escaped the Murk King as his magic lurks inside her and will use her to torment the fae that she loves in any way that he can. However, the Murk Kings right-hand man may hold the key to saving them all - but before that, both he and her mates will need to find a way to overcome centuries of and mistrust. Blood needs to be shed and lives lost - the question is will one of those be Talia?

Wow - I didn't see that twist coming but having read the book I can completely see the Murk King doing that and enjoying every single moment. Talia and her mates worked tirelessly to try and get around the magic even though it did lead to failure I feel it did enhance their understanding of each other and what their magic was like. Definitely a book full of drama and danger in places as well as pain and explicit sexual content. WARNING - this book does contain a part of the storyline around the loss of a child or baby and so be careful if it will disturb you in any way. Well written and easy to feel and understand. Now I'm wondering what will happen next.

4⭐️ - still loving it 8 books in. Loved how this one played out and how the group worked together. Liked Madoc before and kinda knew where it was leading but my goodness I wasn’t prepared.

Back from her time with the Murk, Talia tries her best to determine the next best step to help the fae come to a peaceful agreement. Plans are slightly derailed when it’s determined that she is with child. Further complicated by the fact that the Murk king isn’t backing down.

While she tries to reason with the seasonal fae, Madoc is caught during his spying in their realm. When he sees Taos again he agrees to help work with them in the hopes of finding a peaceful resolution. Tensions run high, no one fully trusts Madoc besides Talia. This is made worse when another curse is triggered, and this one on Talia herself. While the king wanted to weaken her fae, he managed to do the opposite and being Madoc into the fold to help them in the hopes of saving Talia.

Several mini excursions and battles happen, tensions are high between all sides, but the Murk are particularly vengeful whenever the other fae come through the portals. A war is brewing and with the next book being the last, I’m assuming it’s coming soon.

I received an ebook ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Content Warning: this book contains early pregnancy loss.

We are now in the home stretch of Bound to the Fae! Talia is back with her men after the events of Lies of Murk, but it comes at a cost… The Murk King has managed to curse Talia with pain that follows her, increasing in amounts, until her soul is ultimately bound to die.

With Talia having such a pivotal roll between the Seelie and UnSeelie courts - she makes for the perfect target with which to sew chaos.

This book is emotional and painful, especially knowing all that Talia and her men have been through.

We do have the final addition to her group in this novel, and while it does seem to be a little quick compared to the others, he does fit right in with their patchwork family. I think I would have liked to have had him introduced a little earlier on, so that the stakes in this book could have been that much higher.

That being said, Chase has set the stage for an epic conclusion and I cannot wait to see how this series closes out!

Happy reading!

-
I love seeing Talia become more empowered and putting her foot down and embracing her sexuality
-
I love seeing her men be so humble towards Talia and her affections and putting aside their protectiveness and seeking out to fulfill Talia and her desires. it's absolutely adorable.
-
August is still my favorite man evaaaaa
-
I feel like their is no relationship between Talia and Corwin anymore. all that they have is their fated bond but they had like, zero scenes alone together.
-
this was going to get a 5 star but then Madoc came back to life and then him and Talia fucked soon after and then... the most traumatic thing happened... he introduced his tail... to her... during sex. I litterly sobbed because how disturbing it was. it was so revolting and my stomach is in knots. what the fuck.
-
I know Madoc is her last lover but im kinda nervous with her having so many men as her lovers. I'm worried that others won't get one on one affection *cough cough Corwin* but in general, won't be given enough time with Talia. I know it's difficult with the war and all but still :/

I have been so excited to read this book and life has been busy throwing obstacles in my way. I hate when life goes on while I have plans to stop everything and just read. Compromises were made, life carried on and it took me longer to finish than I wanted. Stolen moments at work and a bit of missed sleep but worth every second for the chance to read one more chapter. I did not want to put this book down!
Talia and her mates have already been through so much and to find out that the Murk King had more surprises in store for them...so cruel! Madoc is quickly becoming my new favourite and getting to know him better is so exciting.
The story flows seamlessly and the characters all work so well together. This tale has everything, romance, suspense, mystery, intrigue, conflict, betrayal...did I say it has everything? Ok...well worth the wait and the constant interruptions to read one more chapter. Can’t wait for the next book to find out how it all works out.

Book 8 of 9.

Bought on Kindle and Audible. Decent length on Audible. Contination of series, with a HEA, though some serious suspense and threat along the way!

As with all books by Eva Chase (or Eva Chance) it is exemplary! Hot, yet developed realtionshisp and all characters totally unique. Huge respect to male narrator on Audible for managing this across five men, plus of course the additional characters. All easily idenitifable as soon as he speaks as them.

This series did seem to last forever, and I have to say has had me in tears several times - to the extent I was unsure whether I could go on at several points through the prior books... I don't like it! I like a bit of stress, occasionally, not this heart ache and terror and bad guys so bad you want to run away (or throw your Kindle or ear buds away!).

Less trauma next time please Eva...

Honestly …. This one was a bit better than the rest, but I can’t stand when there’s a “omg the FMC/MMC is going to die!” Trope bc the plot armor is just too thick. It doesn’t do anything for entertainment bc we already know none of them are going to die. It’s not like George RR Martin who legit kills off his characters, or Caroline Peckham/Susanne Valenti who terrible shit to their characters even if they don’t kill the main ones, it’s just hard to care when we know there’s not really any chance of death.

With that being said, death of a character needs to do something to further the plot. Not just for shock value. The miscarriage in this book was NOT done to further the plot. She was pregnant for like 5 chapters and then lost the baby. It was just there to be an “omg” moment. It was pointless otherwise.

Love, Hate and Sacrifices
Another excellent book in this ongoing series. Talia continues to evolve gaining more and more strength and independence. She is one who dares to speak honestly and does not back away from any opportunity to help others. She is just a really really great heroine.
There are more curses to deal with, which are seemingly hopeless, and the continued and unexpected twists were very well done. The depth of the characters continue to build, I love how far everyone has come and the sacrifices that are made. Highly recommend this book and this entire series.
I also love the covers and book titles, they are well done and descriptive of the story content. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.

This series is beyond what I ever expected. It continues to grow and expand and this story struck me as Talia tries to hold her life together as Orion doubles down on his plan to use her to break the fae.
Madoc is back, but how much can he be trusted? Is Talia blinded by him or the only one that is seeing the truth? He and Talia's mates continue to clash as they try plan after plan to thwart Orion's war.
This one got me choked up at the end. It wrenched me to think that was how it was going to end. Good news is Talia is a fierce fighter and doesn't give up.
Heads up - pregnancy complications in this story for those that need the warning.
I received an advanced copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

well. i wasn’t expecting to sob my eyes out at this book but here we are.

for the most part, this book felt kinda slow and it was incredibly infuriating that no one trusted each other and wasn’t willing to talk. it was the same back and forth with no give for ages.

everything happened in the last quarter of the book which made up for it. by the end, i’d become completely attached to Madoc which was why it was so heartbreaking and i really didn’t know how it was gonna turn out. Talia screaming at the Heart was also particularly painful.

the one thing i love about these books is that no matter who it is, Talia will always fall in love with them. she really does just say fuck it i’ll have however many men i want and everyone else can either like it or bugger off😂

Been dreading a pregnancy trope the entire series . 😬 otherwise i love how naturally the bonds of her mates and alliances between Seelie and Unseelie have been building over books

I love Whitt. His banter with Madoc is great and gives me hope for their future. Bonus scene reminds me how much I love whitt

I knew what this book was building to but still loved it. Holy Talia powers….really hope she can get a HEA even with these new developments. 😭
Can’t wait to see how it comes together in the final. And whether anybody (maybe two anybodies) will get true name tattoos from the Heart in future

Also ofc they didn’t deal with Orion having madoc’s true name so that’s gonna come up in the last book.

I’m glad I pushed through and finished the series because I feel like the last three books had a lot more going on, and it wasn’t just repeating the same things over and over again. I will say there was a major pet peeve for me in this set of books though. To me when an rh group is already set then no other character should be added to that group. I do get why it happened in the book, but still, I’m not the biggest fan of it. There was also a major TW in the book that I didn’t see a warning for (which it might not have been included since I read the bound version of the book, or I just missed it) but loss of a pregnancy is in this. I thought overall it was a good series but a lot longer than it should have been. Glad I read it but it’s one I won’t read again.

Okay, so I really liked this book, but I have a couple of thoughts… 🤔 First off, Talia is definitely kind, strong, and generous — and we hear it a lot. Like, a LOT. 💪🦸‍♀️ After the tenth mention, I was like, “Yes, we get it, she’s awesome!” 😅 Honestly, it felt a bit repetitive, and I was just waiting for the next “Talia is perfect” line to pop up… and, yep, it did. 🙃

Now, onto the mate situation — the way Talia keeps adding them one by one didn’t quite sit right with me. I guess I’m more into that big, dramatic reveal where all the mates show up at once, rather than the slow build-up. 🥴

That said, the plot is so engaging, and I’m seriously invested. I’m a little worried about what the catch will be with the Resurrection magic, though 😬✨

Holy Heart of the Mists!

OMG! This was an absolute heart breaker of a read! 😭 I lost count how many times I cried. So much heartache, distrust, loss, anguish, pain, betrayal...it really had me very worried and upset. In all the best ways of course! Couldn't bear to put this down, and when I had to, all I could think about was picking it back up again. 😂 This was Talia's toughest journey yet, same for all her men. Some great surprises and twists in there that seriously keep you guessing from start to finish. I'm both dreading and dying for the last book. I don't want it to end!!! 😭

We thought there would only be a war to contend with, but we are faced with another curse on top of it all!

Our MCs face a curse that tears apart the only hope they have and while they stick closer together they can’t help but distrust others. They’re once again struck by how much they’re relying on the FMC as they attempt to rally against those working to destroy those in their realms. Although she has limited magic skills, the FMC is constantly showing her strength and power against all the pain and loss she faces with her compassion and stubbornness.

I’m curious to read how this war plays out and may we get our HEA having already experiencing a significant loss but also a return!

Talia succeed in returning to her mates in the very last part of book 7. As happy Reunion and happy news are celebrated, the menace of the Murks is still leaning over their heads. Orion is the villain we were all waiting for, he is the one who has the key for both the Seelie and Unseelie curse. Talia with her extreme kindness and sweetness and bravery manage to show orion's true color to Maddoc. He is now trying to help the Murk gain a place in the mist without an outright war with the other fae. But despite Talia's faith in him that is not enough for the fae to trust him and the road to a real alliance is long and bumpy.
Maddoc is the perfect addition to the harem and throughout the book I thought a lot it times how will he get a part in a harem that is already extremely solid, I will just say that Eva Chase did it in the best way possible and was really happy to see every moment unfold.
I devoured the book, I didn't see the chapters going.
I am really excited for the next and last book even though it means we will have to say goodbye to the characters.

Love it. Love it so much. Anguish and overwhelming joy abound. This installment honestly is so much. More of Madoc than we deserved. And frankly Talia is done putting up with people’s shit and I’m here for it.

There’s a lot of trouble brewing, but there are these little pockets of peace within the chaos when Talia is just with her mates and it’s so meta and beautiful. I’m not going to spoil anything but this is my favorite installment so far. Maybe when it’s been out for a bit, I can come back and do a more thorough review.

I actually enjoyed this book A LOT more than the last one. It had a lot more going on and a lot more plot development and progression. Sure some parts still dragged out a little, which is nothing new with this series, but I will say I wasn't expecting what happened to happen.

I also believe that it's the length of the series itself that people struggle with the most. For a 9 book series, not a lot happens in the earlier books. It got VERY repetitive. Alas, we are close to the end now. Just one more book.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series!
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
