The handsome and arrogant hero is Prince Mikhail Kirov, the cousin to the heroine in Lord John's Lady. The heroine is Megan who is still available because her stingy parents have not seen fit to give a season. Megan jumps at an opportunity to visit Russia where she meets Mikhail, but nothing much happens until she leaves to return to London and the prince follows her.
