Life was perfect, quiet, and uneventful. Entirely mundane. But as the story goes, that was just the calm before the storm that tore my life to ribbons.
One dark, fateful night. One accident that shattered my world. One unforgettable move. And now my life is anything but mundane.
My name is Astraea Davis, but you can just call me Rae. This is the tale of a girl whose world was ripped apart and pieced back together in the unforgiving cold.
Two months ago my parents were murdered. Their death, as much a mystery to me as the path I'm thrown on because of it.
A path that has me contending with the tendrils of an unseen enemy, the quips of an asshole teacher, and the pain from a neglectful aunt. But even the darkest paths have a ray or two of light. For the sun always shines brightest after a brutal and unforgiving storm.
A new best friend. A new job that I love. A lickable new boss and his equally sexy as sin, brother. These are my rays in the storm raging around me.
As the secrets I didn't know I was hiding are unveiled and the threats loom closer, will the new bonds I've developed hold or will everything around me implode ... again? *****
Her Three Bears is a two part Goldilocks and the Three Bears retelling, a part of the Fairly Twisted Chronicles. This book is a slow burn, reverse harem paranormal romance featuring one female with three mates. Trigger Warnings: This book contains moderate bullying, stalking related themes, swearing, PTSD, and sexual assault. Content suitable for +18 audience
Indie Black is taking a plunge into the book world. She's a California native who prefers tacos over sushi, the beach over the mountains, and books over anything else. She's a certified water snob, dog lover and will try just about anything that tastes like bubblegum.
I loved Her Three Bears so much! I *think* this is my first book of bear shifters, and it's amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but I was completely immersed in this story.
Astraea, or Rae for short, has had her life turned upside down. With her parents death, moving to a new town with her aunt, to a stalker, she has a lot to deal with. The way that Rae is written is perfect. She's real, raw and gritty. The panic attacks that she gets makes her more relatable.
Her Three Bears is one of the best shifter books I've read recently. I absolutely love the fated mates trope, even if one is being dumb and not accepting it 🙄🙄 anyway, I highly recommend this one! I have completely devoured it in less than 24 hours...
I was shocked about the last 30ish%. I knew something was coming, but come on now 😭😭 I am so excited to read part two! Amazing story Indie and B!!! You two are fantastic together!
This is a great start of the 3 Bears duet and I was hooked from the beginning. In this story, we meet Astraea, Aka Rae. She has just moved to another town with her aunt. The aunt that basically put her into her house with absolutely zero care and leaves there to fend for herself. She meets Jasper, her teacher, a grade A arsehole with a vendetta against Rae. One that I’m still iffy on. Why her? Why are you such a jerk, Jasper?I have questions. Asher and Luca, his sleuth brothers, are much more nicer and instantly recognizes Rae as their mate. But Rae is human, right? Read the story and follow Rae’s journey as she slowly comes into her fierceness and her discovery of her past and how it melds together for her present and future.
Where to begin…so we have Rae who is 17 and in a few days will be turning 18. Her life is turned upside down when her parents unexpectedly die and she is thrust to live with her Aunt who treats her as a burden and is just down right awful. Now for the men we have Luca who is kind and sweet, we have Asher who is protective and charming, then we have mr broody pants Jasper-hole…that’s my name for him. She makes a friend name Polly who they both become instant besties. There’s more to Polly and I’m feeling in my jellies a story might happen for her. There’s action and drama that keep pace with the storyline. Certain characters from B Livinstone’s other series may have had their names dropped, its quick so pay attention to all the details. The ending has a cliffy so be prepared to throw your book or kindle across the room. All in all it was a great new gritty version of a classic tale.
Now I am not a huge fan of slow-burn books, but the authors of Her Three Bears did a great job with this book. A few standout things I enjoyed, they didn't rush the steam (avoiding spoilers), they didn't force her strength, they acknowledged her pain, her trauma, and have given her time to heal. You become caught up in watching Rae develop and find who she is outside of her guys. Definitely can't wait to see how it all ends, I kinda want there to be more than 2 books, and I wish book 2 was sooner.
Wow! Was not prepared for that ouch of a cliffhanger! This book is absolutely brilliant! Love the characters! It is the kind of book that I find myself reading quickly so I can find out what happens next while simultaneously never wanting it to end! Highly recommend this book!!!!
Well this was a pleasant surprise, I've never read a bear shifter book before but I freaking loved it!
I was instantly drawn into the story, there was always something going on from the very beginning.
Astraea is our leading lady who deserves all the loving. A smoking hot, grumpy teacher who I just want to sink my teeth into. A gorgeous, nerdy veterinarian that cant help but make Rae blush. A sexy construction worker who wants his girl close.
I have so many questions that I need the next book to answer for me!
The first book in the Fairly Twisted Chronicles duet by Indie Black and B. Livingstone is a riveting read that you won't be able to put down.
Our FMC Astraea or 'Rae' moves in with her Aunt after losing her parents just shy of her 18th Birthday. Indie and B have both created a fantastic set of characters, though there is one you want to strangle (in both a kinky and please get your head out your a** kinda way).
B. Livingstone’s first part of her ‘Fairly Twisted Chronicles’ duet is just that, a twisted fairytale. But instead of a prince you have three hunky bear shifters. Astrea, the main character, thought she had a normal life until one day it all changed turning her life upside down. Her parents were both mysteriously murdered. She had to go live with an uncaring aunt. Now she has a stalker after her. But things soon start looking up, especially after meeting her three bears, Jasper, Asher and Luca. This story is like an adult version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears but better. This book is full of exciting adventure, mystery, suspense and romance which is so riveting I couldn’t put it down until the very last page. But be warned there may or may not be a cliffhanger, so be prepared to grab the next book if there is one. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!
Wow. Just wow. Where to begin? I have to admit that I normally don't pick out many shifter reverse harem books.... I'm not really sure why, other than I tend to just lean towards dark / forbidden RHs, but I found Her Three Bears in a reading challenge. I was pleasantly surprised with just how amazing these authors are.
The writing style is unique and sooo very easy to follow. There are definitely some triggers in this book, but not as many as my normal reads. The FMC experiences some trauma and hard losses in her life. She is forced to move in with a cold, unsympathetic aunt and start over in a brand new town and school. Upon arriving in the new torn, she immediately has an unpleasant meeting with a tall, handsome jerk. She quickly finds out his man is her new teacher Jasper. Later in the book, it's revealed just how significant he will be in her life, but in the beginning, he makes life SO much more difficult for her.
Rae proves to me mythical and special herself as you'll find out later in the book. Her aunt leaves her for a cruise, and Rae soon realizes she has a stalker on her hands. The stalker does everything in his power to scare her and convince her to give in to his demands. He even goes as far as vandalizes the shelter she works at, threatens the animals and people she caress about and more.
The book ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger and book two is not yet released, but let me tell you, i preordered book two with a swiftness!
If you're into bear shifters, fated mates, and reverse harems, this book is for you. Seriously.
I loved the setting for this story and all the animals involved! Touched my heart how Rae connected and cared for them.
The characters were all quite mysterious with lots of layers I would’ve liked unpacked a little more. The story was a little slow with its pacing to keep me 100% involved the whole time, but I’m excited to see where it goes from here as I see a lot of potential!
Omg. The feels!! So many feels for Rae!! I love her so much and having gone through all she has as only a 17/18 is incredibly hard. She meets Luca, Asher and Jasper (J Jacka** 😂😂😂) and is thrust into a world by herself to figure things out. Her aunt is a b*t*h and I don’t like her. But I absolutely adore all the characters and can not wait until book 2!! It needs to happen faster lol
I absolutely love this story! As odd as it may sound, I love reading about somewhat broken FMCs that need help from the men she meets. Astraea has had it rough and my heart goes out to her. New town, new school, new people…she’s thrown into this new life and has to learn to navigate it while her aunt could care less about her and she has someone threatening the things she cares for. I was hooked on every word and couldn’t wait to know more. I was so sad to reach the end as that cliffhanger has be dying to read the next book in this duet! I cannot wait to read it!
I love retellings. There are some fabulous RH ones about. I wanted to love the three bears too, but struggled.
I found the characters constantly over the top and irritating, immature. Pacing was off. Rae was whiny for me and a very familiar type.
Brand names dropped everywhere added to my frustration. Vodka is vodka. There’s attention to detail then trying too hard. You don’t need to add songs, brands as if they’re fillers. It’s sweet, a little heat and a loose take on a fairytale. Lacked execution for me with too much told, sorry.
I loved this! What a great twist on the tale of goldilocks. From the very start the suspense and questions sucked me in. Astraea's life is torn apart over night, and she is thrown into a world of unknown. So many things are happening to her and she just cant get a grasp on it. Finally the pieces to her puzzle start to come together when she finds her bears.
I can't wait to see how their relationship progresses!
This is a sweet slow burn that has all the feel goods! Rea is moved to Cordova after an accident that killed her parents. One by one she meets 3 guys Luca, Asher, and Jasper. With bonds forming with 2 and 1 denying it straight outright leaves Rea feeling more then confused. After her birthday and secrets are revealed Rea finds more then she ever realized and doesnt know who to trust anymore. This book does end on a cliffhanger.
Her Three Bears by B. Livingstone and Indie Black is a slow burn reverse harem paranormal romance. This is Part One of the Fairly Twisted Chronicles.
The book does come with a trigger Warnings: "This book contains moderate bullying, stalking related themes, swearing, PTSD, and sexual assault. Content suitable for +18 audience."
B. Livingston and Indie Black did an amazing job on the story. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed that we got Astraea, Selene, Asher, Jasper, Luca, and the stalkers point of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ends on a fantastic cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for part two to be released so I can get more of Astraea, Jasper, Asher, and Luca story.
I would highly recommend this book if you love paranormal romances, slow burn romances, reverse harem romances, or fairy tales and mythology retellings.
I really like this book. Even though Jasper is a tool. There’s a lot of background stuff that really came out at the end. Speaking of that massive cliffhanger, I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens next!
A shifter romance that's inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears!
I loved B. Livingstone and Indie Black's spin on this fairytale with its elements of age gap, RH, and enemies to lovers! These are some of my most favorite tropes, so of course, I couldn't resist.
This duet starts a bit slow as you learn about Astraea's story and the reason behind her family's tragedy while also getting to know the three bears that'll steal her heart. Their romance may be a bit of a slow burn but that doesn't mean you don't feel the tension!
This book had me on my toes with all of the suspense and that ending ripped me apart! I'm anxious, yet excited for the next book! 🥺
OMG what an amazing twist on classic! Absolutely loved it! Can't wait to learn more about Rae and for the guys to actually fully come into their feelings and her for them! I have a feeling there will be a lot to come.
Favourite quote: "When you cry, I'll be there to shoulder your grief. When you smile, I'll share your joy. And when you're afraid, I'll be there to banish the object of your fear." - Luca to Rae
I realized at the end of this book that this story is a duet--two books to make the full story. It was my fault for not noticing! But the characterization is great in this book, especially with Rae and Luca. I love the plot where Rae finds out about shifters and other paranormals after she turns 18. And the best friend is especially fun and mysterious when it comes to her possibly being a shifter, too. And the whole side story of the vet clinic and shelter is precious. I can't wait for March to come so I get to finish this duet!
I really enjoyed Her Three Bears! I love fairytale retellings, especially when they go off script! These lovely authors did it wonderfully. It is a slow-burn so don’t expect much steam, but there is definitely heat building between Rae the FMC and the guys *cough bears.* The story starts off with Rae moving in with her aunt who treats her terribly then essentially bails on Rae after day one to go on vacation. Rae is left alone in a new house, has to start a new school and do it without friends or any other family. Her parents were killed, and she has no idea what really happened. She has a connection with animals, and lands a part time job at the local animal shelter. I loved this piece to the story. I used to work in a vet clinic, so I felt a real connection with her and Dr. Luca the vet *helps that he’s drool worthy*. She has no idea that shifters exist, she just thinks the guys are a little different. As the story goes on Rae finds herself the victim of a determined stalker and ends up at the bears house- hence the fairytale. The guys- Luca, Asher and Jasper have a connection to her that they can’t figure out, and you best believe not all of them want. But they are drawn to her- regardless of choice. They each have unique qualities and layers to them. It was fun to learn more about each of them, I can’t wait to learn more. There’s mystery and intrigue, there are twists, and turns we don’t see coming. There’s the building of relationships whether that be her with the guys, or her new BFF Polly- both who have many secrets of their own. The cliffhanger left me throwing my kindle *I don’t recommend this* and huffing around frustrated that I must wait to get all my questions answered! But it was in the best way possible, if I get invested enough to take out my feelings on my poor kindle *and husband* I know I’ve found a great book. I want more, I don’t want to wait months to find out what happens next, tell me all the things now!! Overall if you love fairytales, or fairytale retellings this book is perfect for you. It’s a must read!
These two amazing authors have created a dark bewitching and twisted version of the classic Goldie Locks and the Three bears. I was instantly drawn into to this dark story full of secrets and deception. There is far more than meets the eye,
Rae is such a deeply broken young lady. She is emotionally fragile after the sudden loss of her parents , she is adamant it was more than an accident and this belief haunts her. As a result she suffers with ptsd, sever paranoia and an inability to trust. She is placed with her only living relative, her selfish and vindictive aunt who is using Rae for her money who abandons her at her first opportunity and does nothing more then demean Rae's emotional pain. I love how Rae grows throughout the book, she is still broken but she starts to discover an inner strength and self worth.
Luca, Asha and Jasper are three local bear shifters who have an instant connection with Rae. Luca and Asha feel a pull to Rae and desire nothing more than to protect her. Jasper feels the connection but rejects it and subsequently treats Rae like she's a disease. The dynamic between the 3 sleuth mates is as paramount to the story as their relationship with Rae. The dynamic between the 4 of them is intense and volatile, as trust is pushed beyond acceptable boundaries as secrets and hidden truths are unearthed.
The tension in the final chapters of the book, had me gripped and desperate for more. We were given bread crumbs of information and truth whilst still being I the dark on so much. I can't wait yo find out how they will all fave the challenges that are to come in the conclusion of this duet.
I don’t even now where to begin…. Let start with bear shifters ummmm excuse me they are so freaking amazing. I haven’t read but one of bear shifter story and I think I have been missing out because these men/bears are freaking fire well except Jasper I want to throat punch him at the moment. He is still sexy AF and I’d jump him but at this very moment he needs throat punched. Asher and Luca be still my beating heart these two men fell fast and hard for our girl and I am here for it. With something sinister lurking in the shadows that seems to think Rae belongs to him Asher and Luca are in full on protection mode. Our phenomenal FMC Rae this woman right here has a freaking heart and soul made of gold even though she has been put through the ringer over the past few months. She is the sweetest, kindest woman but she is no push over and she is just trying to make a life for herself. I was captive from the very beginning all the way to that freaking knife to the heart cliffy. Are you kidding me, how are you gonna do me like that. Be prepared this book will give you all the feels and have you on an emotional roller coaster ride. I can’t wait for the next book. Freaking Amazing!!!
Her Three Bears by B. Livingstone and Indie Black is a two-part Goldilocks and the Three Bears retelling, in the Fairly Twisted Chronicles. This book was literally so good I read it in one day and one sitting because I had to know how it ended. And cliffhanger this book ends on, oh my, my heart can't take it! This book follows a girl named Astraea who has just moved to live with her aunt because he parents were murdered. Here she meets Luca, Asher, and Jasper who she all feels a connection towards because unknown to her they are her three bear shifter mates. Add in a new best friend Poppy who is a shifter of some kind and a magical being stalking her who won't leave her alone and you have this attention grabbing story. This book is a slow burn, reverse harem, which means the female doesn't have to pick between her partners. Please be sure to check your triggers before reading if you have any.
First off I'm going to be completely honest and say I wasnt sure about this but because one of the authors was indie black I decided to give it a go .I was very hesitant to read it as I'm not a fan of shifter romances. But this, Her 3 bears has changed my mind.... I'm utterly mind blown.
Astraea is a very special young lady which we gind out on the beginning. When she's 17 the unthinkable happes ad her life is turned upside down. She is forced to move and live with her very grumpy and rude aunt who doesn't Give her the time of day. That's when she meets 3 brothers asher, luca and jasper aka jasper jackass who as the name states is a total jackass.
Its addictive, thrilling, magical, beautiful and emotional.
It will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
The ending will have you tearing your hair out!!!!
Can't wait to see what's in store for astraea luca, asher and jasper jackass in book 2.
I just want to know more. More about the history of the characters, the characters, the animals, the sirens, the shifters… just more. This author duo created so many layers to this story and world, it’s easy to become immersed. I don’t know how this is only going to be a duet.
The female main character was very realistic. She had just suffered through the trauma of losing her family and being completely uprooted to a new place. I like that she had emotions and they didn’t just completely disappear.
As for the men, each had there own distinctive personality: our alphahole, a funny and a smart one who have a history together. There’s insta-attraction but I like that it’s a realistic slow burn. There are some hints of MM that may be expanded on in the next book.
That cliffhanger was not nice and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the conclusion of this duet.
Dark. mysterious and surprisingly deep, Her Three Bears in an enchanting read.
I'll honestly admit - I was a little hesitant about this book. Being an avid Sci-Fi and Fantasy reader, I usually tend to avoid and scoff at PNRs, but this book exceeded all my expectations.
I loved Rae. She completely captivated my heart from the very beginning. Her strength in dealing with the dismal circumstances she's been handed alongside her kindness and empathy towards both people and animals are so utterly endearing. The boys are each so unique, with traits and personalities that balance and complement each other, making it impossible to pick a favorite. With a gripping plot, filled with twists and secrets, a magical atmosphere and a crushing cliffhanger ending, I can't wait for part two!
I’ve been in a bit of a ‘fairytale retelling’ phase so was happy to find out there was another book coming to add to my collection!
I really liked the fMC in this book, plus love all the animals (shifter AND normal 😉). I like books were the fMC has a bit of a traumatic/tragic past and this one is still dealing with stuff that happened just before the beginning of the book.
The only thing I liked a little bit less about this book, is that one of the male main characters was the mean one, but it felt a bit forced in some way? Like the character was trying so hard to be mean that the dialogue/actions of the character felt a bit unrealistic to me, but that’s just a personal preference.
All the rest of the book I really liked, so if you like bear shifters and a somewhat troubled fMC, this is the book for you!
I absolutely adore this story and cannot wait for part 2! Once I picked this book up, I could not put it down.
The FMC, Astraea(Rae), is so refreshing to read. She is a character who is very vulnerable after her parents died and is forced to live with her miserable aunt. & it only gets worse when we find out she has a mysterious stalker lurking at every corner. She's not just a damsel in distress though, because she does have a lot of fire and spunk as well. I just love her!
As for the three male leads, I cannot get enough of them. We have Luca, her droolworthy boss. Jasper, her asshole of a teacher.& sweet Asher, the caring protector. The tension between Rae and them is off the charts!
I have to give a shout out to Poppy too! She is the baddest bff side character to Rae. I mean I wouldn't mind a story with her...😊
I highly recommend this paranomal, suspenseful, taboo romance!
