As club president of the VII Knights MC, I’ve built one hell of a reputation.
When it comes to killing, I’ve done my Viking ancestors proud. But my name, my strength, and my brutality meant nothing … because I couldn’t save the one girl who mattered most.

Raised by a sadistic cult, Arie had only known pain and savagery. Until she wound up in the back of my van holding a knife to my throat.

She should be in high school, dating jocks and experiencing her firsts with guys her own age, but the little siren I found washed up on that beach has her sights set on me.

I’m old enough to be her father.
I’m old enough to know better.
But I can’t turn her away.

Viking by Carmen Jenner is an age gap MC Romance that will wow readers with its raw action, passion, and suspense. Ariella was born and raised in a cult where she has faced abuse and unbelievable terrors. At 17, she is forced to marry the Prophet, and instead of marrying her abuser and facing torment, she manages to escape. Although she is battered and bruised and scared, she lands in the arms of Viking, an Alpha MC President that will stop at nothing to protect his club. Although he knows that Ariella is broken, he cannot help but develop feelings for her. When he discovers the truth of her background, he will stop at nothing to get revenge for her and keep her by his side.

description

Told in dual POV, Carmen Jenner has created an intense story with a fast-paced tempo as the plot unfolds. The story flowed smoothly, and I was quickly drawn into the world of the VII Knights MC. I loved how passionate Viking was with Arie and how he would do anything to keep her safe. The age gap between the two was an exciting dynamic as Viking battled with doing what he felt was right and battling his desire to claim his “mermaid” and keep her as his own. The terrors that Arie endured were dark and twisted, and the MC World Jenner has created is full of violence and raw characters fighting for their lives. I felt drawn to both characters as they struggled to find their way. I would recommend this book to readers that enjoy action-packed romance novels.

Overall, Viking will appeal to MC Romance Fans or fans of age-gap romance novels. Although this is the sixth book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. This is my first Carmen Jenner Book, and I can honestly say I cannot wait to explore more from this author. I highly recommend adding Viking to your reading list, as it is sure to get your heart racing!

Huh....this book started out between 4 & 5 stars for me. But the ending immediately dropped to a 3.

Full RTC soon. Need to think on this one.

Full review below:

First off, please heed the author's warning at the beginning of this book. It does have a lot of triggers in it and definitely not a book for anyone with a weak stomach.

This book started off fantastic for me. I had no problems with the dark, gritty and disturbing scenes in this book. I definitely cringed a bit when reading, but none of it hurt the book for me. I loved how Jenner set the stage for this book.

Viking and Arie's story flowed beautifully, up until the end. The interactions between them were authentic. Arie has a difficult road ahead of her but has a very strong spirit in her. I love that she made Viking question everything about himself.

This book was written well (again, til the end). I was engaged from start to finish and enjoyed getting to know these characters.

And then there was the ending. I mean it literally just ended. Full stop. It just felt too abrupt and could have been fleshed out a bit more. I get that they finished what they needed to, but I hadn't expected the book to just end like that without a bigger lead in to possibly another book about some open issues or at least show how far Arie got once she was truly free.

Overall, it's a good read, but again, heed the warnings as this book is not for everyone.

***5 Stars***

This baby was dark, disturbing, bloody and brutal in more ways than one, but that all faded into the background when Viking and Arie were together. They brought humor, heart and heat to the story and I was quite saddened when there were no more words to read.

Obviously I adored Viking and Arie. Viking is morally gray, but still has morals that are deeply embedded in his own code of honor. Arie is a work in progress, but one that has a spine of steel and clever mind. Their journey to the HEA was a lot of fun as they learned about each other, and themselves, as they collided in a very not so meet cute way and found themselves bound to each other in ways they never could have imagined.

This is my first read by the author and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. The writing was engaging, pace was good and the first person dual POV’s were well done. As I said at the start, it is dark and disturbing and triggers abound, but it definitely kept things interesting. Then there were the supporting cast of characters. I loved CJ and Blue and it was cool to see Niko and Meraki do their thing in this story, but Wolf and Gypsy definitely piqued my interest and I wouldn’t mind if they got their own HEA.

3.5 stars. Those pedo freaks were so f@cking sick! Made me want to vomit and at the same time go on a murder spree. Holy f@cking shit Batman! I loved Arie so much. She was the real HERO in this story. She had balls of steel. Viking, for about half of the book I liked him only for a 40%, the rest 60% I wanted to punch him in the balls. Then at some point he got better, thankfully. When the book ended I was a little sad. I wanted more.

Ariella does not want to be in an arranged marriage with the prophet but in her world of the “sisterhood of the moon” you do as you’re told. One chance at freedom though may careen her into a whole other dark world. One where a biker named Viking lives and rules. Get read to enter Valhalla with this biker and his “mermaid.” I can see the similarities to this dark fairytale retelling of the little mermaid. If you’ve read Antichrist, Niko does make a cameo in this one. A mix of MC with a twisted religious cult may have triggers for some with its into violence and talks of non-consent. This is not for the faint of heart however, if you enjoy a dark and twisted romance with a touch of sweet dirty bikers grab this one! Told in dual POV

This was a new to me author and one I'd definitely be interested in reading more from in the future.
This book concludes a FANTASTIC, MUST READ multi author series, with many of the books hitting my top reads list, So I REALLY wanted to love this book.
But for me personally since I've still not recovered from Antichrist, it was always going to be a high bar to reach. Especially when using characters from other books. I had to keep reminding myself that the books in this series were standalones.
So in saying all of this, this beautifully dark and gritty book will give you a bunch of mixed emotions for multiple reasons, but it is still definitely worth the read.

3.5-4 stars Overall

Age gap, older grizzly MC president and traumatized but resilient young girl, a little mermaid reinvention, cults and drama and steam- ALL THE THINGS I love. And truly, this story started out amazingly. The world building, the character arcs, the intrigue. The chemistry! I was hooked pretty quickly.

Truly, a marvelously twisted first half of this story. It’s a dark situation we find Arie in when this story begins - like really dark and disturbing. So we feel so victorious as she finds her way into the MC world of Viking and his crew- rescued by this big scary man who is nothing like the scary she’s experienced at the hand of sick and twisted men. He’s her savior, even if she’s terrified of men, and she knows NOTHING of the real world. And he’s drawn to her- first in a protective way, but as she blossoms into her new freedom. And then a sizzle explodes between these two.

The characters are interesting- a strong but traumatized young girl, wide-eyed to her “whole new world” and her Viking savior. I loved watching her find herself, and Viking is a delicious, edgy, super alpha protector- with a dirty mouth. Their connection feels really sweet, and restorative for them both, especially as they both share connections to this bigger nefarious enemy. He helps her find strength, and she softens his heart- and the steam is great. And the little mermaid references are great along the way.

And then this boks just kind of fizzles out- it felt rushed, and satisfying. We get some great action and some victories, but we lose the great romantic progression, and what reads as a great story about two broken souls finding another that had a lot of depth suddenly reads like a surface-level quick fix ending. I wished we’d had more emotional content in the ending, more explanation to the other book connections, and more romantic closure verse introducing other pieces. I fell in love with this couple, I wanted a bit more. 5 star beginning, 3 star ending.

Heed the trigger warnings!

What do you get when you mix a cult, The Little Mermaid and bikers?

You get Viking, that's what you get.

And whilst you think they would not go well together, they do. The really do.

Arie and Viking shouldn't work. He is no Prince Eric, but he sure is Arie's prince charming.

The things that get him all hot should turn you off off. We shouldn't like him at all, but you can't help but absolutely adore him - even if his proclivities are stomach turning.

We don't have any of those fluffy bikers collecting toys for kids here. These guys are the hardcore, murderous kind of bikers who, whilst we love them in our books, you would run run run just as fast as you can away from these guys if you ever met them. They are dark, gritty, and heartbreaking.

And I couldn't put the book down.

It was a great way for Ms Jenner to bring us back to her writing.

I hope we get more of some of the other characters in the future

3.5 ⭐️

If you read the synopsis, you got a small snippet as to what this book could be about. It involves a MC charter, a cult and how they link up in a bloody battle.
I feel when you chose a story based on a motorcycle club, you know it’s going to be ominous, and when you hear the word “cult”, well nothing good comes with that. So be warned…this is extremely dark…at times distressing…even depressing….and also very brutal. Regardless if you believe in revenge or retaliation, this book could make you uncomfortable and have conflicting feelings. I know it did for me.

In the midst of all of that, there’s a love story. The hero is the Prez of the MC, and he finds Arie by the sea, washed up like a mermaid. His mission in life is to rid the world of pedophiles especially those who’d harmed Arie.
They robbed her of her innocence and confidence which made her mute for a while. Together they forge a connection firstly as friends then lovers to find the island and free the other woman trapped.

I’ll be honest, these type of stories are not my normal books, far from my RomComs. But at times I like to mix it up with a book with more guts and grit. It certainly gave me what I was looking for, and then some. I don’t believe this book is for everyone, you need to enjoy your romances very wicked, but if that’s the case, I recommend it.

Ariella (Arie) has grown up in a cult that gives her no freedom or say in anything. So when a way out is provided, she takes it and runs. But she runs into the arms of a biker named Viking, and while he isn't like the men from her culture, he has his own darkness that she's drawn to.

**check the trigger warnings**

I didn't know what to expect from this book when I got it. Little Mermaid mixed with bikers and cults just sounded odd to me, but Carmen Jenner took these three topics and smashed them together in what is a spectacular book. Viking is a brutal man who has his own dark side that should make any sane person run away. But who needs sanity when he's just so sinfully delicious?

Make no mistake, this is not a happy fairy tale. It's dark, gritty and not for the faint of heart. But the romance is wicked and I couldn't help falling in love with Arie and Viking as they worked to right the wrongs her cult's people inflicted on her.

I must start this review by saying this is a “Very Dark” storyline loosely based on Little Mermaid. Well by loosely I mean we have a vicious MC Prez and a young girl who is an ex cult member instead of a Prince and Mermaid. The storyline is a dark one so please trust the author and heed her trigger warnings ie: age gap of over 20 years, the female lead, Ariella in a teenager when she meets Viking but more importantly if you don’t like Dark, Disturbing Descriptive scenes, this book is not for you.

But if you do like those things, grab it up. It’s a gritty MC romance where the Prez is a violent man who will do “anything” to protect the young girl who has seen and been through so much for her young age. They find themselves falling for one another and their chemistry is unmistakable.

This reader found herself pulled in and couldn’t stop reading, even though I wanted to scream and shout from time to time. I can’t wait to see if the author continues the club’s story and where it leads us next.

TROPES: dark romance *check TW, MC, cult, age gap

Ariella & Viking’s story is a dark, rough, and at times stressful one. Please note that this book has heavy triggers such as SA & sex/human trafficking. I wish I would have connected more with their story because I love stories like this where the heroine gets to overcome her trauma. There was just something missing for me with these two. If you like these types of romance books I will say to give it a try because Arielle’s story is one that I found beauty in, it just wasn’t my favorite.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: protector, forced proximity
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

This is my first Carmen Jenner book and it definitely won’t be my last! Super dark and gritty, this is a Little Mermaid inspired tale that is well written and super fast paced. It’s a slow burn with TONS of smexual tension. It did contain a cheating scene, but it wasn’t gratuitous and was forgivable given the storyline. This really was a fantastic read and I’ll definitely be looking for more books by Carmen Jenner to read!

***MAKE SURE YOU READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!!!!****
This is an age gap romance that had me captivated from the very first page. The storyline flows really well, and is evenly paced.
A dark and twisted love story that is not for the faint of heart. Viking is the president of is VII Knights MC. He is ruthless, twisted, and will do anything for his club. Arie is the absolute complete opposite. she is meek, quiet, BUT has a dark streak within her that calls to Viking. Their story is dark, delicious, and filled with vengeance. I loved it!
I can not wait to see what else we may get out of this MC chapter.

I really can't believe Carmen Jenner wrote this. I have no problem with the C word, I'm British after all, come to the UK and it's literally a term of endearment. Saying it every other page does not make a book dark and that is how that word is used in this book. Trying to make it dark. Too much tell, not enough action. And it felt like the author had tried to condense a previous MC series featuring a cult into one book. And, if someone had been brought up in a cult I don't think they would say fuck every other word within a chapter of being rescued ... But, you might love it.

Five brutal stars! Get ready to enter Valhalla with Viking and his mermaid.

I didn’t know I need to read Carmen Jenner’s books until I got Viking in my kindle. My lord, what a gritty, bloody and dark book she delivered. Viking is violence wrapped in darkness. This book is set in the VII Knights’ world. So that being said you know what to expect from it. A dark twist MC romance inspired on a fairy tale. But not just any fairy tale. Toss a little mermaid and a vicious Viking who knows how to throw an ax and you have a perverse version inspired on the Little Mermaid.

I’ve read all the books in the VII Knights MC series and I do love that each one is quite connected to the other by at least one character with a character of the next one. The authors were clever in maintaining a close union between their books and characters. I must confess that after reading Antichrist I was so excited to read Viking because I missed Niko and Meraki and knowing they will be in this book made it a sweet and tempting treat for me.

So let’s keep talking about our main characters, Viking and Ariella. I don’t know where to start with these two. Viking is the Prez of the VII Knights MC. He literally reminded me of Ragnar Lothbrok from the series Vikings. Viking is blood thirsty. He fights like a viking. He is also a defender and possessive. He is a hard ruthless biker who isn’t afraid to get his hands bloody. He turned killing into art making some blood eagles (viking ritual) here and there. But he also has his morals. He has been fighting to get back someone. I forgot to mention that he also finds peace in the sea. His motorcycle and the sea are his love. In his search he finds a red-haired young mermaid. Her petite body on the shore calling to him to save her. He might be a dangerous man but he has a heart which softens for her.

Ariella is a seventeen girl who has endured the worst since the age of ten. She was forced to marry the Prophet of a cult. She couldn’t endure more pain and she escaped on her wedding day, ending in the sea. Dehydrated, sun burnt and almost dying, Ariella was rescued on time by the Prez of the VII Knights MC. Moving from a deprave cult to an MC gave her peace. Despite her dark past she was able to heal and watching her become her own person was so gratifying. From a little scarred mouse she became a tigress thanks to Viking and a couple of women who stood by her side. I liked seeing how Viking changed after the arrival of Arie. She softened his rough edges. The attraction between these two was out the charts. Despite his attraction to Ariella, Viking restrained himself until she was ready and until he knew it was ok. However the tease and pull was intense.

Viking and Ariella story was full of chemistry, a lot of danger and some serious intensity. They worked together to take down the evil guys. They freed themselves of cruelty. I adored that Viking empowered Arie because she and all the women of the cult deserved justice for all the hell they lived.

From the beginning, I knew this book would consume me. I hungrily devoured every page, drowning in the story that was my drug. Utterly intense and intoxicating. Triggering and violent. Just how MC romances should be written. It’s a SLOW burn with tons of bloody sexual tension. Add the age gap and forced proximity between the main characters and you have a BOMB of a book.

I've read the majority of the VII Knights MC series all standalones by all different authors. I've liked how each author intertwined at least one character with a character from another book from another author. It was clever and made the "series" cohesive. I also liked how each one was a nod to a fairytale in one way or another. Not a retelling, but more of inspired by and adding in a MC.
Having read most of the 'series', I will say that Viking was probably my favorite of the bunch. Although it wasn't super long, it was a complete story with a fully developed plot and a dark trigger- filled story not for the faint of heart.

Viking is the Prez of the VII Knights MC. He is all Viking; he fights like a viking, he lives as a viking and he's out for blood like a viking. He is searching for a piece of his past that has alluded him for 20 years. He may be out for blood, but this guy has some morals. When the sea calls to him and he finds a red-headed siren washed up on shore calling to him, he knows he must save her.

Ariella is about to married off to one of the Brothers of a cult that worships the Mother. She is a teenager, but she cannot take the pain she has endured anymore. She escapes from her own piece of h*ll after bloodying her hands. She jumps to what may be her death, but anything is better than the life she has been forced to live in this life, in this cage.

Viking was a dark and gritty story where you need to check all your trigger warnings before starting. You have an MC that doesn't mind taking lives and club whores on the regular.
You have a cult that takes young girls for their own pleasure (non-con)
And you have an age gap romance.
And all that is mixed in with a bit of The Little Mermaid and Norse mythology. And it was done quite well.
With all that, I liked this dark story. The content was hard to read, but I liked Arie and her will to live. She moved from a cult to an MC, but she found peace and was able to make her own decisions once she was saved. She had Viking always looking after her as well as a couple women that stood by her. I liked seeing Viking change after Arie arrived. He may have been attracted to her from the beginning, but he never did one thing about it until SHE was ready and until he knew it was ok. These two worked together to take down the bad guys and I liked that Viking gave power back to Arie.

IF you are okay with darker content and don't mind some bloody violence, be ready to dive into the deep end and enjoy this fast-paced book that is filled with grit, graphic revenge, drama and a bit of sex. And be prepared for a little twist that may leave you wanting a bit more.

Viking- Carmen Jenner

4/5 Stars!

This was probably my first little mermaid retelling, and it was enchanting... in the dark romance sense of course. I love a good MC and Carmen definitely puts a lot of the elements I look for in a good MC into this story. I love being attached to not only the main hero, but all the other biker men as well. I loved her humorous names for the other brothers in the MC, and I loved all the hell they gave one another. Arie was a perfect choice for an Ariel like character. She starts off completely naive, as she came from a religious cult on an island where she was separated from the rest of the worldly things. I could actually see her taking a fork and combing her hair when we see her get to watch tv for the first time. I liked how her character grew into something with a little more fire at the end though. This is an age-gap romance, and with all taboo subjects it has to be done in a manner that is full of finesse to be pulled off just right. I think Carmen did a great job growing Arie into something of a young girl to a full force powerful woman.
I love Viking's character as well. He definitely has the touch her and you die attitude so much so that at times it was even a bit dramatic, but I can just see him being a hot-tempered man. I think that was really the only negative of the story was Viking's character was larger than life, but at times the things he said or did came off so grand that it rubbed me a bit abrasively. That being said I still loved his larger-than-life personality most of the time, and I love how protective he is over Arie. It was also so good to see Meraki and Nikko again. I knew Lana was also staring in this book, and I have to say I was very surprised to see where she exactly fit in here.
I think this book is great for those who like an age gap romance, with an ultra-possessive alpha male, lots of action and violent behavior from men, and who enjoy MC books. If you also love a dark romance and are instantly attracted to anything with a religious cult in it like I am, then this may also be a book for you as Arie escapes a religious cult. This book has a sweet romance with a happy ending, but everything else that surrounds the romance is pretty dark, so check your trigger warnings! Thank you to the author and her PR for providing me with ARC in exchange for an honest review. I am looking forward to reading more from you in the future!

Viking is a dark, gritty romance between an older biker, called Viking, and a young girl who is literally saved by him. Their romance may not have been perceived as ‘normal’ by many but then, what is normal?

Ariella is more mature than her nearly-eighteen years because of her prior life conditions, yet, she is innocent to many of the real world’s modern gadgets and ideas. I liked the parallel with the Little Mermaid, it wasn’t over-the-top, rather, it was cleverly integrated. Viking found himself in an unusual situation and for once allowed things to play out. I absolutely loved how protective he was of Ari and how much he cared about her. Their chemistry bubbled away, simmering into a near boil until it reached one hundred percent then things exploded.

This story has the full gambit of emotions that literally have you gasping in shock one minute then smiling at the fun banter or antics soon after. I admit there were plenty of times I was so irate with situations and certain characters that if I could have, I would have been glad to hit them over the head with a metal bat! Oh boy, did I get worked up but this is a good sign as it means I was fully invested in the story, this author does hook you in and you stay hooked until the very end—another positive and reasons for the extra half a star.

There was plenty of drama and action in this fast-paced story, with a couple of twists along the way. There were some incredibly disturbing descriptions about the trauma Ariella experienced, the details were very clear but not overdone, which was good. One surprise later in the story in particular had me gasping in shock! But 🤐 I will let you read about it. Other incidents of violence were quite graphic but it was describing the situation and character/s involved.

I enjoyed this entertaining story and have no hesitation in recommending it to everyone who enjoys darker romance stories.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

They stole her innocence and her voice. They're going to regret it.

This is a MC age gap romance written in the world of the VII Knights. It is dark and you need to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. This book will hold triggers for some readers.
Ariella is a seventeen year old girl who has lived though things no child should ever in a lifetime live through since the age of ten. She is now facing her wedding day to the Prophet of the "sisterhood of the moon". If the Mother deems you do do something you do it and Ariella does not want to do this at all. Things quickly escalate and Ariella finds herself washed up on land with a serious sunburn barely even able to walk and knowing that she is going to die soon. However the night before while doing a job for the MC Viking swears he sees something in the water he has always been drawn to and when the MC is leaving the next day he sees the white again and Ariella is rescued thought I don't think at the time she realizes that's what is going on. Viking is the President of the MC and he has now rescued a mermaid and he is also on the hunt for someone close to him and he has been for a long time. I loved watching Ariella grow into a eighteen year old girl who has lived through so much to a woman who is full of rage and wants her revenge as bad a Viking and his MC want to wipe the world clean of pedophiles. I loved Viking and his struggles really were valid and he is just who he is and doesn't apologize for it. He takes care of those he loves and his MC is his family and he will do anything for them. He also realizes that he would do anything for Ariella no matter how wrong it seems to him and he struggles with how young she is because he is feeling more for her than knows he should. There is an age gap between these two but I for one think that they are so perfect for it. Will they see it though? Will Viking be able to help Ariella get what she wants more than anything in the world? You have to read to find out. You will not put this book down once you have picked it up. There are things in this book that made my stomach turn and I am a dark romance reading girl. I am addicted to them and this one ranks right up there with some super messed up breaks your heart things happening in it. I loved this book and know that you guys will too.

At the start of the story, Ariella (Arie) is 17 and about to marry the Prophet of her community. She doesn’t want to go through with it and barely escapes the island where she was living. When Viking discovers her, she is unconscious on the shoreline at the bottom of some cliffs. Viking’s life mission is to rid the world of pedophiles, and he thinks Arie will have information to help him. He brings her home to heal.

Arie had a very old soul, but was still so innocent. She has endured more trauma and pain than anyone should have to go through. Reading about her experiences growing up in the cult was very difficult. Definitely check trigger warnings for this book. However, she was so isolated. There is so much about modern society that she has to figure out. Some of the lighter and funnier moments of the book include Arie discovering life’s simple pleasures including television and processed foods.

I loved the tension between Viking and Arie. It seemed like everyone but Viking knew that Arie would be it for him. Viking’s inner struggle is one of my favorite parts of the age gap trope. Once he realizes his desires, he doesn’t want to give in because of her age. On the other hand, Arie is all in and she is relentless.

Viking gives Arie the strength to heal and seek vengeance against the cult who hurt her. Both of them have similar goals and I enjoyed watching them come together to seek justice. Arie goes through an incredible transformation and I enjoyed watching her take back some of the power that she lost.

This book is part of the VII Knights MC series and you will see some characters from other books including Antichrist by Amo Jones. I really hope the series releases more books. I’d really love to read a story about Wolf.

I really enjoyed this. It's a reimagined Little Mermaid. He takes to calling her Siren. Not just because she came from the sea but also because she's bewitched him. But he does struggle with his attraction to her because of her age and after what she's gone through. *Check Your Triggers*
That changes for him when she reveals to the other woman that she's turning eighteen.

I loved that even though he's protective of her, he doesn't hold her but when she expresses the need to be a part of a raid that takes place later in the book.

Ariella is about to marry the Prophet, he's older and gross, and she does not want to be tied to him. She's part of a cult, called the Sisterhood of the Moon, not that she knows that. What she does know after being slipped a weapon is she's going down fighting. After she kills the prophet a sister tells her to run and jump off a certain cliff. So she makes her escape.

Viking is near where she lands. He and his brothers specialize in taking out people that hurt children, Check Your Triggers). He spots something white in the distance but thinks nothing of it. When his MC is heading out of town, he spots the white fabric again and stops this time, and finds Ariella.

Not sure if she witnessed them the day before, he decides to take her home with him until he can find out. At the clubhouse, an old lady examines her and gives Vike the rundown of her injuries. And now he's wondering who hurt her.

As she heals, they discover more of the abuses she suffered.

And Viking is beginning to hate the fact that he's attracted to her.

Thanks so much to the author and Candi Kane for this ARC to review.

DNFed @ around 40%.. I really wanted to love this! I live for a good age-gap dark mc romance, especially when it’s done right. I tried, I really did but unfortunately I just don’t think this author is for me. From the premise of the book and all the raving reviews, I was so hyped for this one — A mc, a cult and the little mermaid? I could just taste the potential. I honestly predicted it would be at least a 4 star read but right from the start there were more things that I wasn’t liking vs things that I was actually enjoying, with both the plot and main characters, specifically Viking. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want no Romeo with all hearts and flowers, but some of the things he said and did, the way he tried to go about getting information out of the heroine(a survivor of many types of abuse — check TW!!) at the beginning just left a bad taste in my mouth and I felt like such a delicate and triggering subject was handled poorly.

no matter how brief that period was, it just wrecked any potential enjoyment of their relationship once it started to develop.

“Got it, Prez.” Gator turns to leave, but stops just before he opens the door. “What are you gonna do with the bitch?”

“I’ll let you know when I decide.”

“You got plans to make her a club girl?”

“She’s a teen.”

Gator shrugs. “What’s your point? She’s probably been sucking cock since she was twelve.”

..... coming from an MC who’s mission is to hunt down and kilI pedophiles. How blasé they were about her past and how his first thought didn’t have anything to do with all the trauma she had from what she had been through?! it was disgusting. I just couldn’t get over this, I’m sorry

Oh my sweetness! Get ready to put on your favorite lounge clothes, lock the door, get ready to ignore the outside world because this story has it all - a possessive hero that knows how to throw an ax and has a thirst for blood, a heroine who is determined to get her revenge, cults, action and just the right amount of steam. But check your triggers at the door, if you are a sensitive reader, because it does deal with some pretty dark things.

Arie is a heroine that I adore. Her strength and bravery know no bounds. I love her determination and her thirst for revenge.

Viking (aka Vike) - this man just checked every single box..he’s just as psychotic as he is loving. I loved how protective he is, but he is willing to let Arie protect herself as well. He’s gruff yet gentle, patient and kind, yet he doesn’t hesitate to throw his ax or use his knife when threats are amiss.

Carmen took me for one helluva ride and I was front row center for it. I loved how dark and gritty it is along with the creative nod towards The Little Mermaid. She pulled me in from the first page and I devoured this in one sitting. The plot is fast paced and flawlessly filled with vivid main characters that I fell in love and side characters that I would love to get to know better. My first read by this talented author, but it definitely won’t be my last - I loved everything about it and can honestly say it’s one of my favorite reads this month.

5+ brutal stars for Viking.

I love a biker story, the darker and more deranged the better. Viking delivers on the dark, and the deranged is there too. I also enjoy a hero who isn't a knight in shining armour, more a defender of the defenceless. Viking has that in spades!

Prez of a MC, Viking is a hard and ruthless biker who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and bloody. He turns killing into an art. He softens for Arie though. He protects her from everything, even himself. Although there is a big age gap, and that usually turns me off, I wasn't bothered by it at all in this story. The way Carmen Jenner writes these characters and their relationship, it is obvious they are ment to be.

This book is not for the squeamish, there is a lot of violence. Not only detailed killing, but it refers to child rape and enslavement. You have been warned, but if you are into dark reads, this one is for you. This book is number 6 in a series, but can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the previous books and at no point did I feel like I was missing any background information.

I finished this book in one night, I couldn't find a good place to stop. Before I knew it I was at 80% and it was 2.30am and I HAD to keep reading til the end. Sorry kids, Mum will be a zombie today, blame Carmen for writing such a gripping tale. Totally worth it though!

3.5 stars

All the bad things in the world are in this read.

She is found washed up on a beach and given the name Little mermaid. They do not know where she has come from however they know it can not be anywhere good.

She has signs of abuse and is malnourished. They find out she was brought up in a cult where the females were treated like animals, probably less than animals. Deprived of basic human rights, freedom, food, consent, and education.

They were trained to be subservient or face punishment.

He’s drawn to her and calls her Siren but he feels like a pervert as she’s very young.
You will need a strong stomach to read this book.

Be prepared for a rough ride because this is dark, it's deals with seriously sick circumstances and it's truly heartbreaking!

Arie has grown up in a cult. One that likes to share children's bodies! Seriously it's hard reading but that's were Viking and the MC comes in!

Arie is to be married off but thankfully escapes, Viking finds her and takes her back to his clubhouse, and when he eventually finds out what happened and where she came from, all hell breaks loose. Other chapters are called in and then it's all about ending it!!!

It's deep, dark, disturbing, heartbreaking, yet you still get a few sweet moments.
Don't expect Viking to 'soften' up....all women are still b1tc3s, but he definitely holds himself back with her, there's no denying he loves her and he treats her well. Just noone else 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you're iffy or on the fence, just don't read it. Simple as that.
If you like a darker read, you like when the main guy is an a$$ who maddens you, has friends who are just as bad, has an attitude that makes you question whether he's redeemable or not, then this is for you.

I'd definitely read more on this Chapter, a lot of interesting characters!

*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review.
