Unapologetically Enough: Reshaping Success & Self-Love

Rate this book
What does it mean to be “enough”?

For years, entrepreneur and writer Carrie Severson struggled with her own “enoughness.”

Like so many women, she constantly questioned if she was thin enough, wealthy enough, young enough, or fertile enough. But instead of finding answers, she ended up battling professional and personal burnout, self-love, and her status as a middle-aged woman without her own children. And it forced her to make a change.

Shining the light of love on both the good and the bad of that process, Severson shares her soul quest and how she learned to navigate her own enoughness. With honesty, tenderness, and vulnerability, she taps into a powerful shared reality, illuminating the experiences so many women go through as they, too, struggle to define success and self-love.

Unapologetically Enough is a raw, relatable story of what happens when one woman stops questioning everything about herself and her life and starts questioning what her life could be like if she accepted herself as enough.

Complete with exercises to help readers redefine their own thoughts about success and self-love, this memoir was written to inspire and support women on their own journeys of self-discovery.

It’s time to stop questioning your enoughness and start realizing what you can accomplish when you take hold of the reins of your own life!

Unapologetically Enough is Carrie Severson’s story and journey of self-love and healing. There were many moments throughout reading this book where I could heavily relate to her and felt her words strike a chord within me. Carrie opens up to the reader and lays everything out on the table, through her highest accomplishments and lowest struggles. I loved reading how about she started her non-profit Severson Sisters and the exercises she did to focus herself and re-examine what she wanted in life. This book reiterated something I live my life by which is to always be kind, you never know what someone is going through behind closed doors even if they put on a smile and tell you everything is fine.

Carrie discusses her experience with burnout and fertility issues and how she rebuilt herself from these painful experiences. She shows the reader her growth form the moment she stops questioning herself and embraces acceptance of who she is and finding happiness. This book had some very helpful exercises at the end that I really enjoyed participating in, it made me stop, think and evaluate myself and how I am feeling. I want to thank @the_unapologetic_voice_house for sending me an ARC of her book in exchange for my review. This title is available now for purchase!

Having known Carrie since the early days of Severson Sisters, I could not be more thrilled to see her sharing her story with the world. Her bravery of sharing so openly and eloquently is inspiring and empowering, and I hope her strength is felt and experienced by many all over the world. So many of Carrie's struggles have been felt my so many of us, but we usually have no clue so many of our peers are suffering in silence. We need more people like Carrie who are willing to speak up and tell the truth. I think we all can feel more whole knowing we are not alone. Thank you Carrie for using your voice and especially the unapologetic part!! I have loved this read and will be going back to it for spurts of inspiration and encouragement whenever I need it.

Unapologetically Enough expertly identifies, then quickly soothes, the harsh inner voice that lives in all of us. The one that has us spending so much time to try to appease our family, friends, colleagues-even strangers, to be sure we are doing things "correctly". We know that finding a way to prioritize ourselves will help us achieve incremental (and sustainable) growth. Carrie's vulnerability combined with simple exercises will help you get to the heart of the matter. With a wide range of current topics and engaging format, I would recommend this to anyone who is ready to dig in and make a real change in how they see their world. Thank you Carrie!

I feel this was a very well written book on the subject that we all deal with as people as thinking that we are not “enough”. She writes it in a way that can be applied to your own life. I adore love reading true stories -so that was very relatable -and I really liked the “soul contract” part where you get clear about your own goals or dreams and use that intention to create a life you really want/write a contract with yourself. Very inspirational! She gives you that hope that you can do it too!!!

Unapologetically Enough by Carrie Severson is an open and honest exploration of self-love, acceptance, healing, and redefining success on our own terms. Carrie’s raw, vulnerable story of her struggles and perseverance through life’s many challenges is truly inspiring. The exercises she shares for redefining self-love are helpful steps toward getting to know and accepting our authentic self, and creating our own personal definitions of what it means to be successful in life. I highly recommend this book to any woman who is ready to be empowered to embark on her own journey of self-discovery.

I met Carrie when we had her on our Women's Eye podcast. I knew then that I wanted to hear more from her as she has overcome so much on her journey to self-discovery. How wonderful to have this memoir to be able to see how her life continues to change in such positive ways and how she is giving back to others. The eight years it took her to write this book were well worth her time and ours. If anyone can teach us how to recover from burnout and not feeling they are enough, she can. I can't wait to try the exercises she includes. After reading Carrie's memoir, you may be noticing the world in a whole new way. This book will inspire readers to feel they are "unapologetically enough."

If you have ever experienced burnout, spiritual confusion, bullying, loss or fear this book will be your guide. Carrie’s writing is beautiful and her vulnerability makes you feel as if you are getting a sneak peak into her soul.

Rebuilding is scary. Very scary. Carrie has not only rebuilt. She has BRAVELY rebuilt after enormous obstacles. Her words are kindness, grace and grit. A great read if you loved Untamed by Glennon Doyle!

AN INCREDIBLE INSPIRING STORY OF LOVE ❤️

Wow 🤩 what an incredible journey Carrie went on to find her own “ENOUGHNESS” .. I too have had such a journey and reading the book was like reading my own story complete burnout!

I really appreciated the vulnerability and openness… I cried while reading because I realized so many women put ourselves through soooo much mental torture when it comes to finding success.

We wear so many hats and life can be so hard!!!

Carrie’s story of redefining love and success helped me be kinder to myself. Instead of beating myself up, it inspired me to be at peace with my path, knowing that every woman’s story is unique and can even be fabulous… and in the end we can all find love, peace and be completely “Unapologetically Enough”!!! YES 🙌

50 pages into this book and Carrie had me rethinking my life. Her words and stories are so relatable, she masterfully intertwines compelling anecdotes with real life lessons providing magical 'aha' moments that seem to pop out of nowhere. No matter what stage of life or experiences lived, I believe everyone can benefit from the stories she courageously shares through intense vulnerability.

I can’t recall reading a book that reminded me throughout, the importance of being present, self-reflection, and staying the course. It was hard to put down and I found myself thinking about it long after I finished reading.

I loved Unapologetically Enough! Carrie's voice throughout is one I have heard in my own head and makes her message that much more relatable. It is such a strong testament to life as so many of us have come to experience it in one way or another. I loved and appreciated the rawness and authenticity throughout and did not want to put it down. I believe there are many people and women especially who can relate to and benefit from the experience Carrie paints throughout this book (the highs and lows she shares so candidly). Highly recommend!

Straightforward, open, & honest

I absolutely loved reading this book. The experiences that were written about, the life that was lived, how when your heart wants something don’t be quick to tell it no. This book is beautifully written. Absolutely enjoyed.

The most exceptional thing about this book is that it's entertaining, inspiring, actionable, and relatable.

The author's story will inspire you. She shares how mediation and journaling were so crucial to overcoming her challenges. It makes you want to stop everything and start tearing pictures out of magazines and writing letters to the Universe...

But you don't have to figure it all out on your own!

Carrie shares step-by-step strategies to connect with your inner voice, reshape success, and discover your form of self-love.

More of these "female empowerment" stories should have interactive components like Unapologetically Enough. The workbook section at the end is worth the price of admission alone. Grab a copy now!

Only a few pages in, and I instantly felt like the author (Carrie) was a kindred spirit. As I read her story, I saw my reflection in a mirror as she talked about and processed things. In a past life, I used to write nonstop. I’ve since lost the spark, and well… life happened. Reading Carrie’s story resonated so deeply and was exceptionally inspirational to the point it made me want to start writing again. I wanted to hug her for feeling like we were besties, and I wanted to cry with her as she described all the unanticipated pain that comes with a soul quest. 10/10 would get a coffee and have a girl chat with Carrie. I’m grateful to have read this book, and it found me at just the right time in my life.

This book spoke to me so deeply! As a mid-30s woman who also struggles with the very real fear that “my clock is ticking”, hearing someone’s story who went through such a painful yet life changing experience and coming out on the other side in self-love and acceptance - it was soothing to my heart! Highly recommend for anyone who has struggled with self love, self acceptance. Healing and recovery can happen, and I’m so grateful to have heard Carrie’s raw and real story.

I loved this read. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the journey Carrie takes through reaching permission level to pivot and pursue when she felt the pull, and to also prioritize her rest and recovery to process different experiences and emotions - we should all be so confidently brave and confidently unapologetic.

A beautiful story - more like a life guide but with compelling storytelling that brings the reader directly in contact with the Author. Such an interesting way of writing, and really a beautiful way to offer uplifting reminders that each of us is enough in our own way.

I was really hoping this was going to be a book about self help and self love for the reader. Although it wasn’t. However Carrie’s story was very moving and kind of made me aware of my own emotions to be aware of. It is a good quick read.

Carrie Severson and I have a lot in common. We're both sisters, daughters, wives, and women. She's only a couple of months older than I am, also raised in the Midwest, and bullied in school. We've both suffered burnout due to putting too much of ourselves into our work. Reading her words was comforting to me. Where our stories differed, I wanted to reach through the pages and hug her. Where they overlapped, I felt a sense of camaraderie. Carrie Severson's memoirs alone would have been enough, but including the appendices with exercises on redefining success and self-love? Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I'm continuing to work through them, slowly and thoughtfully. I received this book for free as part of my TheraBox subscription (Pure box). To whomever worked together to make that happen, thankyouthankyouthankyou, too!
