Darkness still prevails throughout the world but in Astoria, Chief of Police Taylor Barnes has everything under control. There is only one more thing she wants to do—marry the always challenging Jackie Scott. Unfortunately, the universe seems to be conspiring against her when a caravan of travelers led by a sexy and mysterious woman named Rosella Cane arrives and pirates start attacking cities along the Oregon coast.
Facing the threat of pirates, Major Grace Hamilton must call on the help of the Wind Dancer to chase them down. As much as she hates putting the ship and crew in danger, the outlaws must be brought to justice. The other obstacle is working with the ship’s fiery captain, Meg O’Grady. Close friends, but nothing more, Grace longs for a time she can confess her love but won’t because she knows she will never be enough to make Meg happy.
Doing whatever it takes to get by in the aftermath of the catastrophic solar storm responsible for knocking out power around the globe, Cyd Elliott survives by keeping her life simple. It is not an easy task in the ravaged metropolis of San Francisco, but her needs are few until she hears a scream in the distance.
Naomi Andrews was the ‘it’ girl. Hollywood could not get enough of her and the movie she starred in was a blockbuster. Everything had been perfect in her life until that night in April when all the lights went out and stayed out. Trapped in San Francisco for months, Naomi can’t take life anymore but when she goes to the Golden Gate Bridge to jump off, she meets someone who changes her mind.
If you like a story with romance and adventure, mixed with conflict and heroism, then you will love KC Luck’s page-turning new book. This is a full-length novel, which can be read as a stand-alone book, however, it is closely tied to the previous three stories “Darkness Falls,” “Darkness Remains,” and “Darkness United.” These books have an end-of-the-world/dystopian theme but are significantly more focused on strong female characters in loving sapphic relationships.
Bestselling author KC Luck writes women loving women action-adventure, contemporary romance, and fiction. Writing is her passion, and nothing energizes her more than creating new characters facing trials and tribulations in a complex plot. Whether it is apocalypse, contemporary, or a little naughty, with every story, KC tries to add her own unique twist. She has written nine books (which include The Darkness Trilogy and The Lesbian Billionaires Club series) and multiple short stories across many genres. KC is active in the LGBT community and is a member of the GCLS Board of Directors.

A surprising fourth installment added to the Darkness Falls trilogy, over TWO YEARS after it's last installment. Kindle Unlimited.
I really enjoyed this series, and it's one that still sticks in my mind over a year after having first read it - as having lots of wonderful interpersonal relationships, good drama, with the post-apocalyptic threat and badassery of women leading and fighting together against the odds. With them carving out a beautiful future for not just themselves, but others.
These stories all have that 'everyone's a lesbian' trope, but honestly I am not mad at it, at all. I ended up loving all the characters and couples created, and it was great to see them all through this unexpected installment, reconnecting with them, and also finding new ground but also some new additions.
I will admit some of the relationship drama can get a bit annoying with the miscommunication issues, and emotional avoidance some characters showcase - but again I wasn't *that* irritated by it, either. For some reason this series just works for me, and I end up rooting for the characters, even when they are being thick headed dumb bunnies lol.
I THINK perhaps a fifth installment, may come at some point, since it leaves off in a slight way to suggest more story to come. It still feels very satisfying. So if you were a fan of these previous stories, I am happy to say the same charm is still sprinkled throughout, and would recommend the read on KU!.
SAPPHIC BOOK BINGO: favorite trope, disaster, coming-out story, established couples, character with a disability, butch characters; UNICORN: more than two POVs (possibly other categories)
Characters from the previous novels, and a few new ones, continue to navigate the post solar storm global disaster while also trying to maintain healthy, loving relationships. The new characters were either assets or hurdles for the community, and there were a few surprises that popped up throughout the story. It ended at what could have been a conclusion to the series, but there were events that deserve to be explored in at least one more book.
It was great to reconnect with the folks in Astoria, as well as new people to cheer for. So much happened, but I never felt lost or confused. KC Luck has done it again! I hope to see the entire gang again!
This book was disappointing for me. I realise that I am totally out of kilter with many other reviews but it just didn't work for me in the way the other books in the series did.
It was lovely to catch up with all the main characters from the previous books, Anna and Lexi, Taylor and Jackie, Sam and Laura. Their growth and the continuation of their stories was realistic. One thing which did strike me as a little odd was the fact that the child that Anna and Lexi had adopted in an earlier book barely rated a mention.
I think the part that I struggled with was that the book didn't flow too well for me. There were too many separate focuses within a single chapter that it felt very choppy. I mean I did want to know about all the different stories but the constant change of focus just did not suit my poor brain, which likes to concentrate more fully on fewer things.
All in all this was a decent story, but I just didn't click this time, and I accept that I am totally out of step with most other reviewers.
What a wonderful name for Meg’s ship. The title doesn’t give away much, but if you take a chance and open the cover you won’t be disappointed. This book has a little bit of everything, lots of WLW, adventure, danger, heroics and even a touch of a green eyed Jackie. All of the characters in this series have cemented a place in my heart. The new additions are easy to love, too. The story rises at points to keep you reading and Boy! did I keep reading. I didn’t want to put my Fire down, but when it bopped me in the nose after I dozed off I gave up and slept. I think that was at 2:30 this morning. I grabbed my coffee and kicked back in my recliner this morning to finish my ride in Astoria. KC has put us all on the majestic Wind Dancer and is sailing us into more adventure. I hope you all brought your Relief Bands or Dramamine, you’re going to need it! Thanks for an amazing story, KC. This is really good work.
When the world as you know it flips upside down and now survival is the new norm, you have to take some things in stride...OR you throw some caution to the wind and try to make a better future for yourself and those around you!
This is the fourth book in the Darkness Falls series and takes us to some new destinations, introduces some new faces, and gives us some interesting and intense situations (like pirates and gypsys!!!), but keeps with all the themes you have come to love from this author and this series. Welcome back to Astoria, Oregon and say hello again to all your favorite characters from the series, but be ready for a new adventure!!!
I read the previous books in the series and thought it was over. It was not. This story's focus is on Meg & Grace as they recognize and acknowledge their love for each other and their search for the pirates marauding Oregon coastal cities. In Astoria, Taylor and Jackie and the Mayor keep things moving as more people arrive seeking refuge to stay or move on. The Travellers were an exciting treat. Cyd, Naomi may have a future but when Charlie rode in with Same on her horse, I thought it great for Alice to have her chance at love again. Based on the ending, there could be another book in the series. If not, it's still a great read.
This book in the series was better than I thought it would be. I’ve seen quite a few series flounder after just a few volumes. But KC Luck has pulled off another feast for our literary banquet table. This story is rooted in circumstances that effect the entirety of Earth, so I suspect it could go on forever…or at least as long as the author can pound it out on a keyboard. The key characters, who have diverse backgrounds, all share a common trait - they all have heart. So to Taylor and Jackie, Sam and Laura, Lexi and Anna, Grace and Wind Dancer’s Captain Meg, I raise a toast. May your hearts beat long and strong!
KC Luck continues her travels on the northwest coast following a solar event that has transformed the world. With little law it is up to everyone to not only pull their own weight but hep their neighbors pull their weight as well. Astoria has learned how to work as a community team and is thriving amidst limited electric. Bartering is the currency. But prejudice does exist as Gypsies arrive. How will Astoria react to these travelers as well as other travelers who were invaded by pirates? Read more to find how this small community handles so many different issues that today’s society seems to struggle with.
As with the previous three books in this series I was captivated. I found it to have many aspects all wrapped up in one book. There were parts in the book that was thrilling, romantic, scary, heart-wrenching and so many other emotional aspects. KC can certainly keep a reader wanting more, as with this book. I was disappointed when I came to the end, knowing it was the last book in the series. I hope KC thinks about writing a #5 for this series. Thank you, KC for sharing your wonderful talent for us to enjoy.
As the times have changed to build a life with the basic to survive the group is going good until a group of gypsies and people from out of town show up. The idea of pirates is making the town scared with them coming into different port and kill and burning the city down. When Meg and Grace find Cyd and Naomi in the middle of the ocean to help them track down the pirates. Plus the ultimate wedding. Cannot wait for the next book
A group of Travelers arrive to Astoria and their beautiful leader creates tension between Taylor and Jackie. Then a group of refugees, mostly women and children, arrive from a community south of Astoria seeking shelter after a Pirates raid. Grace asks Meg to help by engaging in a hunt for the Pirates. Meanwhile, a Hollywood star is rescued from a gang by a ex-convict and master theft. A great Casey of characters and a great series.
I love this series book four was a surprise since it started as a trilogy. I am waiting for book five. The characters are very interesting and likable. With this book there are new characters also caught up with the characters from the first three books. I highly recommend this series. Thanks for another winner.
Explore more of the west after the solar flair apocalypse
Wind dancer follows the lives of Lexi and Jackie Scott and their friends in Astoria. They are thriving in the new world without electricity. It is great to see new characters and new challenges. The weather continues to challenge. I love how KC Luck brings a sense of hopefulness to this series
This is another great addition to the darkness series. I can't wait to see what happens in the lives of these wonderful women in the books. I hope this series just keeps going on and on! If you haven't read this series yet, you are missing out. Read it now, you won't be disappointed!
If I had to weather a catastrophic event, I’d want to have this bunch of resourceful, smart, loving friends with me. The author doesn’t dwell too much on the particulars of how they survive, but rather the love relationships & the relationships between what is becoming a wide circle of friends. She crafts her story such that you keep turning the pages. I highly recommend this series.
I started reading the book this morning and loved reading how the known characters are progressing. While Cyd is an interesting person, I didn't warm up to the actress Naomi. There are enough other threads to follow through the book. spoiler>Chasing pirates, love trouble and insecurities end with another marriage.
Another good adventure in the Darkness series. Overall this whole series had me thinking what it would be like to be thrust into darkness. Then the lights went out. Ah! Load shedding. So in a way we suffer partial darkness most days. I'm dying to know if KC will give us a good ending to the Darkness series. I hope so. My four stars could have been five except for the many typos.
I loved the story. While I was really wanting to strangle a few of the characters for a bit, I enjoyed the whole story. I know it’s a lot to ask for but I’m hoping for future updates on the characters.
May the adventure be ongoing for this saga. Luck, be a lady and expand on this wonderful world you've created. I would really be interested in a huge ship to ship gun and run battle.
Every one of the books in "The Darkness Series" has been fantastic. I love the strength of each original and new character, their bonds as friends, lovers and wives are wonderful and I can't wait for the next one.
Wow this series just keeps on getting better I couldn't put it down, you feel every emotion in this book truly outstanding top 3 of must read congratulations.
I’m so glad this series didn’t stop as a trilogy because it’s only getting more fun. As we invest more time into different characters, it’s fun to see what emerges from them. Great book, as always!
Wind Dancer is a wonderful addition to the Darkness series. We see how our heroines have fared in Astoria as well as meeting a few new characters. I look forward to Grace and Meg tracking down the pirate ship in the next book.
A wonderful series about survival and people pulling together. It is my belief that women are the stronger more balanced sex; it was refreshing to read this in action. The entire series is a refreshing look towards a new and better reality. Thank you to the author.
The entire Darkness Falls series is a complete joy to read. Wind Dancer, as part of the series, fits right in with continuing the stories from the first book. How KC Luck keeps the characters fresh is magical. Bravo!
This series just gets better and more enjoyable. It includes enough suspense and interpersonal and personal struggles make it real and keep me engaged and curious seeking more information and anticipating what might occur next. Thanks KC Luck. Your talent is incredible.
