Evangeline Kelly is the pen name I use to write contemporary Christian romance books. When I was a kid, I had two dreams. One was to work with at risk youth and the other was to write books. After pursuing my passion of working with foster children for over twenty years, I finally decided to pursue my childhood dream of writing.

I love a good book that draws you in and takes hold of your heart. When I write, I hope to show real life situations people go through and how God uses those situations to draw us closer to Himself.

I’ve witnessed suffering in my line of work, but I’ve also witnessed God’s redeeming love. A good Christian romance features both hardship and delight. My hope is that my stories not only entertain, but encourage, and most of all, that they bring glory and honor to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Her Real Protector Is the Best!

Izabella is trapped, literally, in an intolerable engagement with a narcissistic abuser who brags about his "resources" that he can use to keep her locked up in his house when he wants her to stay there. Izabella is desperate enough to sneak out the back window and take a bus to New York City in a bid to get away and live off the grid, working for cash and staying in a cheap apartment. Cards are too easy to track.

On her first day in the City, Izabella meets Carissa, who offers her a free month in her Upper East Side apartment...if she agrees to take her place at an upcoming masquerade ball. Carissa has no objection to the party itself, but she's secretly engaged to a co-worker and doesn't want her boss setting her up with a random billionaire. Needing a place to stay, Izabella accepts the offer and takes the costume Carissa was going to wear. They have similar builds and hair color, so at first, rich and handsome Sebastian is confused. Her voice gives her away, and he asks her (doesn't demand, an important difference) to tell him who she really is. Izabella, though terrified, instinctively trusts him and gives him her real first name. She also explains that she doesn't want Carissa to get in trouble with her boss for refusing the setup. A creepy clown follows Izabella and further disaster-fies the date, and Izabella is so busy telling herself that all men can't be trusted, she refuses Sebastian's request for a second date even though she's attracted to him and sees him as a nice guy. After all, that's what she thought of George, her ex-fiance, at first.

Sebastian, who has been going to a therapist, consults her and is advised to avoid his default "white knight" instinct to help a damsel in distress and focus on taking any burgeoning relationship slowly. So he backs off to give her space. In the meantime, Izabella wonders why Sebastian hadn't called or texted her and concludes that he's just like all the men she tells herself can't be trusted. His billionaire status, gained from a family business he hired other people to manage, is another strike against him because George always shoved his (less extensive) wealth in her face to prove that she couldn't survive without his help. No white knight here, just a megalomaniac trying to exert his power over a helpless female to feel good about himself. Izabella is a true damsel in distress that Sebastian finds himself falling for, but he senses something inside her that differs from the others he's tried to "fix" before. In those situations, the woman---the "damsel"---gets to a point where she no longer needs his help and leaves him. That's why he went to therapy in the first place.

All is not well with Carissa. either. Her fiance, Brad, hits on Izabella and asks her to let him guide her around the City, even though Carissa had the flu the night before and expects him to have lunch with her that day. Izabella notices the red flag, checks her Bible for references on honesty, and tells Carissa what Brad has done. Carissa makes excuses for Brad and tells Izabella to leave at the end of their month-long agreement. Izabella recognizes the signs of Brad being similar to George and prays for her roommate. Eventually, Brad elopes with another co-worker and then shows up at Carissa's apartment begging for a second chance, claiming that marrying the other woman was the biggest mistake of his life. Izabella laughs in his face and Carissa slams the door and locks it. Looks like Carissa has learned faster than Izabella did!

Izabella and Sebastian have several discussions about faith and Christianity. Sebastian has been a believer longer than Izabella and she's eager to learn more. He quotes several Scriptures to her and attributes his knowledge to Bible memory. She still relies on a Concordance to help her find what she's looking for. Billionaire Protector has more Bible verses than any Evangeline Kelly novel I've read so far, and it's not preachy as much as informative.

I loved Billionaire Protector and devoured it in one sitting! Highly recommended for those interested in the process of learning to trust again and standing up to a former bully on your own turf. Also recommended for readers anywhere on a spiritual journey. You won't be disappointed!

Genre: Christian Fiction

Description: Izabella is running away from a toxic and dangerous relationship when she arrives at New York. Sebastian is still dealing with emotional wounds from his past. She is in dire need of help and protection, but she isn't willing to receive it from a man. He is desperate to find a connection with someone but doesn't want to fall again for the same type of woman. When Sebastian and Izabella accidentally meet, will they be able to acknowledge their feelings and allow God to take control of their future??

POV: This book has a dual POV. We get to see Izabella and Sebastians POV, and I have to say that this is my favorite way of reading a book. I like to have both sides of the characters to feel completely immersed in the story.

Tropes: opposite attract, second chance, emotional scars, damsel in distress, arranged date and more... 😏

Likes: This was my first book by Kelly. I actually found this book on Stuff Your Kindle Day, so I didn't exactly have high expectations, but let me tell you... this was a great short book. That is the first thing that I liked. The fact that the book is not as extense as other allowed me to read this previous in less than a day. Plus, following this thought, I have to say that something else I liked is that this can be read as a standalone book for I had no oroblem doing just that without having read the other books in the series.

Second... I have had good and bad experiences with faith content on Christian Fiction books, so I tend to keep my expectations at bay regarding this because you never really know what you will find.... BUT... Kelly did an amazing job of incorporating the faith aspect into the story through Izabella and Sebastian. Bible verses and reflective paragraphs that reflect a clear Christian faith are found throughout the book. So, this definitely was something I loved 🙌🏻

I also love the awareness and dependence-on-God kind of focus this book brings when dealing with abusive relationships and overcoming certain fears. For we know that if God is with us, who shall be against us?

Dislikes: So, yes, there is a focus on the importance and normalcy of attending therapy, but I didn't exactly love that I felt that Sebastian was greatly driven by every single thing the therapist said. Yes, I do believe therapists exist to help and guide, but I also felt that he was too dependent on her, and sometimes it kind of interfered with his own opinions or decisions.

Comment: So, I was greatly impressed with this book and the easy-going way that Kelly writes. I am definitely open to reading more of her books.

Blind Date with my Billionaire Protector is a story full of emotions that will keep you turning the pages. It had suspense as the heroine of the story Izabella had been dating a man named George that used to be her employer with lots of money that abused her and held her hostage. She got tired of it and ran away from L.A. to New York. When Izabella arrived she went to Central Park to check the paper for a room to rent. A girl about the age of Izabella sat down on the same bench talking on her phone. She seen what Izabella was doing and made a proposition to her. Actually the two looked almost alike except for the eyes and the voice. Carissa and Izabella became room mates. But for Izabella to get to stay she has to go to a masquerade ball pretending to be Carissa and meet her blind date Sebastian. The scheme doesn't work and Izabella has to tell him her name. She made a huge impression on Sebastian.

Since she was held as a hostage by her previous fiancee, she was leery of getting to close to Sebastian. When the two girls keep getting set up to go places by her boss, Sebastian and Izabella has plenty of chances to be together. She goes to falling for Sebastian quickly but tried to keep it secret. Sebastian thinks he has met his true love. The fear of her previous fiancee finding her keeps her scared. She is constantly worried that George or his bodyguards will find her and she doesn't know what he will do to her. Sebastian wants to protect her but she says she has to live her life. She finally decided to get a job at a nice hotel in guest relations services and not long after her boss tells her that a guest checked in and wants to see her named George. She has to make a decision to run away or stay.

Fun—and something better

I occasionally pick up a "billionaire" story, just for the fun of it. I even grimaced at the stern expression of the man used for the cover, but it was just going to be a quick read, right?

And truthfully, the core plot is not original: woman escapes a bad guy and finds a good guy. Then there were Christian comments right at the start. So, I thought, this is also faith based fiction which might add an interesting layer. Hmm... It did, because the main characters were realistic. They didn't instantly know what to do; they had to think through how to apply God's teachings to their situation. Definitely added some nice plot twists!

Now add in that they both have life event issues to work through, which adds more layers. There are some other fun surprises, too. It is a light read with unexpected and thought provoking layers about real situations people face.

The best parts for me were the moments of inspiration, especially the mention of the bible verse "fear not..." because that exact same verse popped into my mind earlier today. I love when books are not only fun, they make me think, and lift me up. Going to keep this one.

Happy reading!

Content: It's a clean read. No gore, sex, or crude language.

Sweet

Izabella's and Sebastion's story was very sweet. Completely unorthodox. Izabella was avoiding all men, but especially wealthy men. Sebastion was avoiding, actively by dating frequently, women who were vulnerable and in need. But when sparks fly on their date, they find it hard to resist each other.

What I really liked about their relationship was that after they admitted they were wanting more than friendship, they talked and laid out all their insecurities. And then they had to evaluate their feelings to make sure they weren't going to hurt the other. They were open and honest. And then they made boundaries. Which was difficult, but they stuck to them. It all showed the signs of a healthy relationship, but it was also very sweet because they just clicked.

What I didn't like was Ava. There was lots of talk about manipulation. From George, and Brad and Carissa. But no one called Ava out on her BLATANT manipulation. She wasn't helping. She was strong arming the people around her so she could play match maker. But it worked in the end, so no one said anything. Nope, sorry. I didn't forget her.

I was drawn into the story right away. First the tension-filled exit from L.A., then a masked party. It was different from the usual storylines in that various forms of unhealthy relationships were featured. I liked the way Izabella took control of her life and how she and Sebastian were able to be very honest with each other and set boundaries. They were opposites with different issues but managed to support and balance each other well.

I found Ava to be a little too controlling, even though she meant well. She was in a position of power as Carissa’s boss, so her repeated meddling is a problem for Carissa. In addition to dumping that creep Brad, I would have liked Carissa, Arthur, Sebastian and Izabella to have an intervention of sorts to try to make Ava understand she was overdoing it and needed to give them a bit of space. I found most of the characters and storyline to be very believable. Despite the bad behaviour from certain characters, there were light, funny moments throughout the story as well. I appreciate the author’s ability to keep giving us fresh, unique material in this series.

I’m having so much fun reading all of these “Billionaire” books by Evangeline Kelly. She puts a fun and entertaining spin on each of her characters.
However, this story had a little bit more tension and drama than some of her other books. Izabella wants to fade into the background and just heal from her past, but she gets thrown into a sort of “Cinderella” type situation, and now her life is totally head over heels. Sebastian just wants to meet a woman who will accept him for just him, not his money.
This story has some tense moments, but it also has a sweet romance.
Evangeline Kelly has a wonderful way of writing. Her dialogues between the characters flow smoothly and are full of fun moments. She also weaves God’s truth and love in a gentle and sincere way. It’s not pushy or in your face.
If you like books with romance, fun moments, a bit of drama, and billionaires who aren’t proud and stuffy, then this is a book for you.
I highly recommend you pick this book up for a fun, delightful book that’s easy to read.

What a totally gripping and inspirational story. The story pulls you in immediately with a very abusive and devastating relationship. However, as the story pans out there are moments that show a total manipulative man wreaking his havoc on his intended, Carissa by pursuing "innocent" friendships with her friends. The main characters come into their blind date relationship from a counselors perception as "needing", but the story flows through into a strong and deeply abiding Love and Trust with God! And what could be better? A well written and touching story.

I received this book from my KU subscription, but am a reviewer for this author. This is my honest and voluntary review with my own opinions.

I enjoyed reading Blind Date with my Billionaire Protector. Evangeline Kelly brings her characters to life for her readers. You get all the feels. The only thing that I didn't care for was the repetition that Izabella wanted to be independent, although that's an admirable quality. Izabella and Sebastian seem so different, but work so well as a couple. Also, there's the underlying tension that Izabella ex-fiancé might find her that helps keep interest level high. I would recommend this to readers of clean romance, inspirational romance, and clean billionaire romance books.
I was given a copy and am sharing my opinion of this excellent book.

Not my favorite in the series, but still good

The plot's a bit stiff, and the main characters, though sympathetic, felt a little wooden, which made it a little difficult to slip into at the beginning.

However, it smoothed out somewhat, and while things work out a little too conveniently, I enjoyed the story.

I also liked that one of the minor female characters who would stereotypically have been catty or scheming in most books ended up being nice.

*Romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic

*Religion: an overtly religious story; fairly generic, despite being "Jesus prayer" version of Christianity

Loved Izabella and Sebastian's story. Izabella was running from a controlling, abusive fiance'. Sebastian was always falling for the damsel in distress, but he was ready to find the love of his life. He started enlisting the help of his friends to find that girl. Both depending on the help of others to make better choices, they ended up on a blind date with each other. There was danger, intrigue, laughter, friendship, and more. I read this in two sittings, even through the night. I didn't want to put it down. I highly recommend 'Blind Date with my Billionaire Protector '. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.

I love this author’s work. This one was sweet with some good themes about working through psychological baggage. One thing I don’t like is the H being a billionaire. I enjoy books much better if it is just a normal guy working for a living. I get really tired of the billionaire trope. This one he doesn’t do anything with his life at all! He doesn’t work. He doesn’t cook his meals or drive. His life literally revolves around trying to find romance and going on three dates a week. I don’t admire someone with no vision or purpose. It was hard to ignore and because of that I found it difficult to totally enjoy the story.

Izabella was sure she was in love with George Vader in L.A. until they became engaged and he had someone watching her and tracked her phone. She felt like a prisoner. So she pawned her engagement ring for 20K and hopped a bus and headed to NYC. She meets Carissa who is willing to share her apartment with her if she will take her place as a blind date to someone at a masquerade party. Izabella agrees and that is how she meets Sebastian, both handsome and rich. She admits to him that she is not Carissa and they still spend time at the party. A clown attempts to steal her away and Sebastian steps in. He wants to protect her but fears she will run away. Izabella takes his hand and so trusting each other becomes the first step in their romance. Enjoyable tale but I kept fearing George will appear and take her back to L.A.

Blind Date with my Billionaire Protector is an awesome, inspirational romance. I stop everything I am doing when Ms. Kelly publishes a new book. I have to read it immediately! Sebastian and Izabella both have things to overcome and are fighting their mutual attraction. Ms. Kelly writes the best characters who are flawed human beings struggling to hand things over to God. This well written story has plenty of hurdles for the characters, but with God's help, their will reach their HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Trust Again
From abusive and controlling relationship to a blind date with the billionaire – is it a coincidence or God’s hand? Would Izabella let go of her fears and trust Sebastian to protect her or run away?
“Pain is an interesting concept. It carves away at us. Cuts and pricks and causes us to bleed. It drives us to the brink of hopelessness. And sometimes to the depths of despair. But then God’s grace and mercy step in, and He doesn’t always remove the pain, but He takes a festering wound and brings healing.”

Izabella is a heartwarming character, I like that she is cautiously starting over. I really like Sebastian as well, nothing wrong with him being a person drawn to the less fortunate. As they worked through the new friendship, this was a little pins and needles intense for me because of her past. Very dramatic, emotional and interesting story. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to read and leave a review.

It amazes me how easily abusers are able to exercise control over their victims. Izabella was fortunate that she recognizes the problem and takes action. Sebastian has the perfect amount of patience needed to accept and help someone who has been abused. I love the faith that both Izabella and Sebastian profess and practice. I really enjoyed this story by Evangeline Kelly and look forward to reading more.

A sweet story!
This novel began with the two main characters dealing with their problems. It was great to see the two people with issues work through them together. I loved that they were understanding and supportive of each other and gave each other space when the other needed it.
Personally, I didn't really feel much chemistry between the two characters, but I still enjoyed their interactions.
Not my favourite of the series, but a good addition nonetheless.

Blind Date with my Billionaire Protector

Evangeline Kelly knows how to tell a story. Izabella was engaged to an abusive man. She had to escape because she refused to live her life like he dictated. After escaping to New York she agrees to go on a blind date in exchange for free rent for a month on the Upper East Side. Sebastian is her blind date. They seem to have a connection and become close. What happens when her ex fiancé shows up?

Blind Date

Isabella, the main female character was a great lady. I really liked her. She didn't expect to become a victim of abuse but that is the kind of thing is hard to see coming. She chose a wonderful man in Sebastian to be her next love interest. I was so pleased that they were both Christians and that they actively had God to help them through the hard times. Loved the ending! I recommend this book.!

A Perfect Love Story

Sebastian I the perfect hero for Izabella. He is handsome, wealthy and has everything a woman would want. Unlike George, he has a heart of gold that is kind and compassionate.

I enjoyed the way Sebastian and Izabella got to know each other as well as the role their faith played in their relationship.

This is the perfect Cinderella story that all women going through tough times dream of.

A nice and cozy romance read!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The main characters are complex and lovable, I thoroughly enjoyed that it was a very clean and adorable romance book. This was only a 4-star read for me because I did think that toward the end of the book (somewhere around chapter 20) the pacing switched from slow-burn to lightning speed. I still recommend that you check out this book and maybe you will enjoy it.

Overcoming Abuse in Any Form

This author isn't afraid to tackle hard subjects and handle them graciously, wisely and biblically. Izabella had escaped a totally abusive situation and started over, but not without serious trust issues. Sebastian had his own issues to get through, but his trustworthiness allowed Izabella the confidence to learn to live again. The story also touches on guilt, forgiveness, and speaking the truth in love. The ending was beautiful.

Sweet Romance

I loved how Izabella was able to trust after a very abusive relationship that she barely managed to leave. There are a lot of scriptures in here which is great! I loved how she became a believer by watching sermons as she was forced to stay in the abusive relationship. I was not at all a fan of Brad. Any guy who wants to hide his relationship is usually a cheater. I loved how sweet Sebastian was!

Sebastian is a protector but trying to make better choices. Izabella is running from an over protective fiance. Sparks fly but both are resisting. There is romance and just enough tension to keep you reading. Really sweet ending. I didn't totally agree with his therapist but loved his friend's advice.

Really entertaining story with great characters.

Great characters and good lessons

As usual, Evangeline has developed excellent characters. She brought them through the fire of bad relationships and Izabella shows what a baby Christian can do when learning to trust God and get into reading the Bible. Forgiveness and reconciliation over fear and unforgiveness. A good, exciting clean romance!

Love, Christianity, and intrigue come together in this short, intense and wonderful book. As two people struggle with love and their cloudy background of relationships, intrigue comes in and stirs their lives up. 5 stars for Blind Date with my Billionaire Protector (Blind Date Disasters Book 7). Izabella and Sebastian meet for a blind date at a costume party. Izabella is pretending to be Carissas but Sebastian figures out quickly that she's not who he was expecting but she might just be who he needs.

God has a hand in everything that happens to us

Isabella had been abused by someone she thought loved her. Once getting away from him she could see he liked controlling her every move. Now could see ever trust a man again? She hocked her engagement ring, but how long could she make it alone? A well written story you won't want to put down.
