A true blessing for anyone looking for a deeper prayer life. As team lead for a local church, I am always interested in strengthening in prayer. This 7 day devotional was a wonderul experience. I chose to spend a few days on each segment, rather than just one day. Very much looking forward to revisiting this devotional at least once a year for refreshment. Also will be highly recommending to others whenever possible.
As I continue my journey in trying to be a good Christian woman, I'm always searching for things that would allow me to become better at it, even one aspect of my life at a time. While I enjoy the increasing relationship I possess with the Lord as I share His words on my blog daily, bringing me an increase of joy in my heart, I would like to possess an improved life regarding my prayers.
Going through the pages of this brief yet empowering book, I began to feel a refreshing sense of well-being when I would offer a prayer to the Lord. In his description of the book, the author's promise regarding what I, as a reader, will discover gets fulfilled.
Going through Scripture regarding us praying, we find the following in 1 THESSALONIANS 5:16-18 [NLT]:
[16] Always be joyful. [17] Never stop praying. [18] Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
And in EPHESIANS 1:18 [NLT], we read:
"I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance."
As Christians, we must realize that prayer is how we communicate with God, and he wants to get to know us better. And this guidebook, I believe, should assist us in obtaining this goal, which is why I've given the author, John Christopher Frame, 5 STARS for his endeavor here.
Easy to read but thought provoking. While this is a quick read, that’s doesn’t mean it’s lacking in substance. This guide focuses on attitudes that help us grow in our spiritual lives snd as a result impacts our prayer life. I used this as an addition to my devotional time. As such this guide is be a great reset to read a chapter a day and reflect on each topic during the day. Or it would also be good for a teenage or young adult Sunday school class as a topic discussion for 7 weeks. I love how there is a reading for each topic and then a section with reflection questions, scripture, prayer and application. This helps the reader not just walk away unchanged but to instead make personal application.
What a beautifully written book. I knew I had to wait to read it, to be "ready" and I am so glad that I picked it up when I felt ready. To read a deep book like this definitely has to be with an open mind, body, soul and heart.
Thank you for sharing such profound writing.
I plan on recommending this to many people.
Thank you Book Sirens, the publisher and especially the author for my complimentary eARC in exchange for an honest review. I very much appreciate it.
A wonderful reading about what's important in life and relating to others. The life worth living is through service to others especially the poor and those not strong in spirit. Meant as daily inspiration with focuses on a specific gift which we should share with others.
I’m thankful that I didn’t pay for this book. It’s not bad, however, it’s rather simplistic. The book is likely better suited for a young Christian just starting out.
The prayers shared in this book are good; they could be improved by adding: “In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
Faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. Jesus taught this to His disciples and the Bible is still teaching this to us today. This shows us that by upping our prayer life, we will have more love for others and our hearts will be filled with more joy.
This book focused on 7 attitudes to help us grow into being a better Christian. Very easy and practical steps that you can start immediately. I would highly recommend this book to everyone wanting to improve their walk and relationship with God.
This was a very short but helpful book with very important lessons to learn. I recommend this to anyone who needs a little help with prayer and becoming a better person to other people. Really liked this one.
A quick read each day for 7 days and yet did not lack in substance. Gives you a lot to think about while reading this each day. These attitudes helped me to grow more and will certainly revisit it during the year.
Decent devotional but focused entirely on what one can/should do, and not on the work of the Holy Spirit to make that possible to draw one closer to God.
Also a lot of shilling of other products by the author.
Short and precise, easy steps in the guide to help someone improve their prayer life. I encourage people to get this guide and practice it in their own lives.
John is on a personal journey to make God-directed differences in our broken and suffering world. We are fortunate that he shares his journey with us through his writing. This short but effective devotional guide and journal takes helps us understand the connection between gratitude, humility, empathy, compassion generosity, holiness, and hope. The simple structure of Prepare (short devotional), Reflect, (questions), Read (scripture), Pray (sample prayer), Focus (action statement), and Do (make your own action list) helps the reader make this a personal growth journey. John lives out the vision that we can all do something if we start where we are and quicken our ability to follow God’s direction. He invites us to do the same.
