Despite being the bearer of the powerful Divine Blessing of the Guide, Red has been banished from the Hero's party. Listless, he decides to head to the frontier and hatches a plan to spend his days working an easy apothecary job. Thus begins his new life!
A really fun manga about a guy getting kicked out of the hero's party and doing something fun for himself which in this case is opening an apothecary and making yummy foods. I did find it funny that he was kicked out giving how strong he is (he tried to explain that he would fall behind, but seriously he just kicked butt on that beast he encountered). I loved the addition of Rit, the princess warrior who at times was in the party with Red. She is adorable and I am definitely shipping Rit and Red together. I liked that we saw the hero's party at times, got background information, got information the world and the skills, and more. Sometimes though it was a bit too text heavy and I found myself losing interest. Still I want to continue reading and see how Red is doing and what his plans are~
I can’t make myself care about anything here. The plot is serviceable and the art is fine, but I’m not hooked with the introduction. Super info-dumpy.
Red/Gideon is a bland everydude, probably meant for the reader to self-insert on. I don’t care about his princess friend, and the manga doesn’t respect her either with those needless panty shots. I like apothecary theme/skills, but in this manga it doesn’t interest me.
The blessings ordeal, finding out your affinity/life’s purpose and how it affects the characters (mentally, personality-wise, career) isn’t bad but not enough for me to continue.
I’m also suspecting, as this is how it usually goes, that Red’s stronger than he appears in some way, and his party is going to need him someday.
So.. here's the thing about Yen Press (the publisher), the artwork is always fabulous and the stories are always great and full of charm... but the manga is exhausting.. there's just too much going on in each frame. Maybe I'm the weirdo but so much visual clutter makes it really difficult for me. I did enjoy this story so so much however and I really look forward to watching the anime.. which reminds me I need to resub to crunchyroll lol
My bar for this was on the lower side but I knew my Library needed newer series to keep the patrons interested in manga. I was pleasantly surprised. It's closer to a 3.5 and would be a four if it wasn't for a few minor gripes I had with it that I think had a lot to do with its transition from a Light novel to a manga. There's too much going on in each panel to the point where I had to go back and reread certain parts, I'm hoping the future volumes are a little cleaner.
I really enjoyed the anime so I am reading the manga. There's a little bit of extra panels and information but for the most part it's pretty close to the anime. The art style is a little different though. I think once I'm done reading the manga I might go and read the light novels too.
A manga that I've seen the anime for, so I know all what I've just read. Still I've really enjoyed this volume and look forward to reading the next one!
Everyone in this world receives a blessing from god that will heavily impact how they live. The Hero's Blessing is what allows the hero to be the hero and the Blessing of the Guide is what allows the hero's older brother to be the overpowered mentor figure she needs...until she doesn't (because all mentors either die or become mostly useless by comparison).
So after being pushed out by the group's asshole mage, Gideon (Red) moves to the countryside to open an apothecary, hiding his true identity from his new friends. Then his old friend/potential waifu Princess Rizlet (Rit) decides to move in with him.
So far, it's a decent set up, but it's sooooo slow. There's TWO WHOLE CHAPTERS of Red and Rit reminiscing on how she used to be an arrogant tsundere before the power of friendship/love turned her into a deredere. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad. It's just really wordy when every few pages has a flashback.
But this is only the first volume so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.
