“We’re born as wolves, we die as wolves, but the night of your ascension you will find your place.”
The Blackall Pack had been showing me my place since the day Dad, my brother Max and I arrived. I’m a weak wolf. The weakest in the pack. And everyone, aside from my family and King, have no problem reminding me of my place. Constantly.
And if that wasn’t enough, when I ascend early, I don’t rise as expected. So I do the only thing I can think of. Run.
Bad right? No, it gets worse.
A witch spells me, before tricking me completely. She turns me into a Bone Wolf. And under the Blood Moon I utter the worst words possible to another wolf. So what do I do? I run, again.
Somehow I end up with a crazy BFF, a mysterious wolf that keeps saving me from impossible situations, and a mate that won’t take no for an answer. Now I just have to find a pack that won't kill me on sight.
The Bone Wolf contains graphic and detailed instances of bullying including not limited to physical, verbal and implied sexual threats. There is also a non-consensual act, not sexual.
The Bone Wolf is book one in - Cedar Mountain Pack - rejected mate / second chance, reverse harem, paranormal adult read. The Bone Wolf will be part of a shared universe and the other MC's will each get their own series of books. The shifters by nature are violent. Please be aware when deciding to embark on this read that this book will not be for everyone.
Lucy's female leads are strong, intelligent, feisty bombshells who always get the happy ever after they deserve. After a bit of drama and angst, of course.
And when Lucy's not writing, she's reading about strong FMC's finding their happy ever after.
I seriously can't praise this book up enough. I have yet to read a book by this writer that I haven't liked though to be honest. They're usually full of likeable characters, a great story with plenty of action, tension, steam and plot twists. All of which and more was in this book.
Emsley (FMC) has a hard time in her pack from the start of this book. Bullying that turns to violence but all of that changes on the night of her ascension. To me that's when her life starts. With the introduction of King, Gray and Cardell they bring their own dynamic with them. Witch Piers is a much needed bit of humour for me. I loved his wit and sarcasm but also his caring compassion too.
Oh and that ending was knockout. Now I'm dying to see what happens next. It's a brilliant start to this series and a bloody great read too
Quite possible my favourite book from the author so far. Such an interesting plot and the characters are great. Piers had me cracking up!! Looking forward to book 2
I have to say that the first few chapters were a little confusing for me. The story was a little cryptic and strategically vague, and I didn't quite understand what was going on. Having now read the book, I understand why it was done that way, and once you get a few chapters in, you will get hooked into the story. Emsley is treated as the lowest raking wolf in the Blackall Pack, constantly bullied and beaten. She needs to escape before her ascension, and find another Pack to call home. Her journey is definitely a wild ride, she starts as a weak submissive wolf, but once out of the clutches of her cruel Pack, she starts to become the women she should have always been, gaining a few mates along the way. With her old Pack determined to bring her back, she tries to keep one step ahead, but it's not easy telling enemies from friends. I enjoyed the characters, there is a great mix of personalities and Piers is very entertaining. This book will keep you on your toes a little, as there are definitely pack politics and games going on. Although this doesn't early end on a cliffhanger, the story is unresolved. Looking forward to the next book.
I need more!!! Like asap , I need more of the characters, more yummy mates, things to happen and can't forget my love for her best friend. Y'all run and grab this book it had me hooked from page one. And I may have put off packing up my house for my move to read this in a day. Don't judge. It's that good. So many twists and turns and loveable characters. Some not so lovely but I mean you need to have a nasty cold hearted Characters in any great book. I can't wait for book two to be released.
Such a great story. Loved this storyline!!! Story is a slower burn. Least to me it was. Still has steam so no worries there. One of the best books I have read in a long time. Stayed up literally all night cause I couldn’t put it down. Does end in a cliffhanger so I definitely need book 2 ASAP. Definitely recommend
Okay let’s start off with Lucy is one of my one click authors, add in she is evil with the Cliffy I was a bit scared but oh my god was this amazing it hooked you in from the start, I wish to claim the fae hottie all of her men are fans self I am wishing for book two now!
Whoa! This is one amazing read! If you’re a lover of all things supernatural, then you’ll enjoy this book! Wolves Witches Vampires and the Fae are here for you!! Special bonds, Secrets, Broken trust, Sexy hot guys! Can not wait for the next book!!
This was such a great book. So much action and crazyness I loved it! I loved sweet old man Henry too. I can't wait to get the next book. Such a cliffhanger.
Oh my gosh I love this book so much and I’m dying for the next one. I need it. Like. Yesterday. I love the clearness of the story - you don’t get confused and have to go back and re-read something or feel like you’re missing something. The emotions are easily felt and understood and the cliffhanger leaves you hypothesizing on what happens next!
This book is amazing! It kept me at the edge and wanting to know more. I love Bryan’s version of an omega wolf. She’s cared about from the beginning but has to find her inner strength. So much growth happens that I can’t wait to see what happens next!
This book was FREAKING AMAZING!! Definitely a book you don't want to put down and have to argue with yourself about if whatever else you have to do is really worth it to release it from your grip. The pain and struggles that Emsley have to go through are heartbreaking and make you want to get a bit stabby but then her bff is pretty kooky. The ending leaves you with a cliffhanger that leaves you salivating for more and checking when you can read the next book.
I loved everything about The Bone Wolf. Emsley regardless of her status as an omega is such a strong character. She overcomes so much just in book 1. Her mates are amazing and will risk their lives just to make sure she is safe. King is the sweetest of her mates. I loved how he understood decisions that had to be made and still followed his heart know exactly who he wanted and didnt fall to pack norms when it came to Ems. I am ecstatic and impatiently waiting for book 2.
This book has so much happening at every second that it can be hard to keep up. I'm hoping as the story grows and the characters settle in more that will ease up. But I'm very excited to see where this goes! I can't wait for the next book
Wow I have been so excited for this new release and now I'm bloody excited to have read this, I love the dynamics in this book and emsley Omg thay poor poor girl can't wait for book 2 now
What a great start to a new series. This book has everything you could want. Heartbreak, laughs, fun, hot alphas, suspense and action. I absolutely love this story and can't wait for more.
This has the the feels from anger, frustration, laughter, love and all the emotions in between.
Emsley, she is one of a kind. Her story is proof that if given just a little nurturing love, sunshine, and water that even in the cruelest environments can produce the most unique and beautiful being that the universe may have big important plans for.
King, Gray, and Cardell are individual beasts to be reckoned with in their own way, but putting them in a group dynamic and worlds may align with Ms. Emsley leading the way. This is a slow burn in some senses, extremely fast in other ways, but delicious all the same.
I really appreciate Piers, what his character stands for and helps Emsley achieve. He doesn’t fit the stereotypical 90s rom com, but he’s even better which makes him one of my favorite characters in this book.
This journey is far from over as the book does leave on one heck of cliffhanger.
Trigger warning: heavy bullying, beating, and one non consensual situation does occur, but they are not as dark as some novels can be, but for those who may trigger easily.
If a guy annoys you to the point that you have to punch him, You. Do. Not. Apologize. To. Him. Ever! And nor do you start crying and thinking oh god, I hit someone What have I done.. I'm a monster..bla bla bla.
I just can't get over the lack of a backbone in this character. She's constantly wallowing in self-pity everywhere she goes. A legit Debbie Downer! And I can't get past the absolute lack of fire in her! I know that she's supposed to be weak and spineless as she's an Omega and I thought I would be okay reading it but I just can't! Why does she keep letting herself get beaten up ( even by the mean girls) when she knows self-defense? Every man in her family has been training her. She has to have learnt something!! I know there are some people who like that kind of characters and she may end up with a stronger character in later books I don't know. So, if that's your jam go for it.
Moreover, she's all buddy buddy with a guy she just met and though she keeps saying she doesn't trust him, her actions say otherwise ( She keeps bantering and verbally sparring with him). You do not go on a road-trip and share your deserts with a shady guy you just met. Where is the initial awkwardness? Best-friends are not made in less than a day!! Then, she's surprised that the witch she paid to hide her identity, actually did her job!! Granted, not in the way she expected. But, I mean come on, that's a witch! If anything can change a person's personality even temporarily, it's magic. What's so unbelievable there? She lives in a world where paranormals exist for god's sake.
Anyway, there's my rant. Still giving this one a three stars for invoking such powerful reactions even though it's negative. I think the story has potential. It's just not for me. I have loved other books by Lucy, she's a great author but unfortunately, I going to have to pass this one. I will still be reading her future books. That's the thing about reviews. Do not base your judgement entirely upon this. What doesn't work out for one person, another person may end up loving it.

What an amazing story! Here we have Emsley who is a wolf and about to go through her ascension. Meaning that her wolf will come out and she will be able to find her place in the pack. Well it seems that her pack does not think highly of her. She deals with a lot from her back and it is sad to read about her going through it. She does have a loving father and brother who love her. One night speeds up her plans to run. It seems as though she is tired of being bullied. Which I don't blame her one bit. Then a lot of stuff happen so fast and we are left wondering what in the world is going on. She ends up hiding what she is. The question is does anybody really know what the true meaning of her status is. There is a lot of mystery to that. As she is find herself she is also trying to find where she is comfortable. Only there are not many places around. Then we find out that she has been marked. Why? What is the significance of that. Oh and then there is Benjamin, gah the nerve of this guy. He needs to be put down like for real. I dislike this man. I see no hope for him. She goes through a lot in this book and it was heartbreaking to read. She does get a few happy moments along the way. I was really into this book and when I got to the end. I was shocked and saying NO WAY!! Like seriously why would you do this to me LUCY. Well now I must wait and hopefully not for long.
Have you ever started a book wanting to love it and you get through the first view chapters and you positively hate it. Well if that is the kind of book you are looking for then keep looking because this book is without a doubt fan-fucking-tastic!!! From the moment I started this book I just knew it was gonna be one that had me throwing my kindle at the wall when I finished it. There were so many twists and turns, it was impossible to guess what would happen next. Emsley is taken on a journey of self discovery, she gets a chance to live her life and find out who she is without the oppression of those who are just looking to kick her when she is down. This is not just another shifter book, it is the true definition of a paranormal romance. On the plus side at least Lucy was kind to us all on this first book and gave us more of a soft hill to fall down it still has me not so patiently waiting for the next book in the series.
If you are looking for a book to keep you on your toes, with smut that makes ya need to throw some spare knickers in your purse, and a story line that will blow you away this is 1000% the book and series for you.
DNF. Starting with a purposely confusing fight scene was a perfect portrayal of how the rest of the read went. There wasn’t a moment I wasn’t befuddled about things from the strange delivery of information to the information itself.
Why couldn’t we have learned about pack hierarchy by having it embedded in her internal monologue during the beginning fight scene as incentive to root for her training and endear us to the character? Instead, we were further confused as to why the characters we’re hastily introduced to then appear along with grown ass shifters to a class learning about a hierarchy they were raised in. ?? Sure. Whatever.
The race to figure out what the hell the author is talking about makes the mishmash of male names with no descriptions of their appearances irrelevant as we await the gaping blanks to be filled.
Even the author’s keyboard seemed to be distraught and attempted to reach out via excess commas, missing words, and infantile dialogue. I hear you, buddy. I know. Shhh. You’re not safe yet. It’s a trilogy. I’m so sorry. Hang in there.
I don’t even know where to begin with this! Emsley is freaking amazing! While she has been treated terrible by her pack mates she still stands tall and gives back as good as she gets. Honestly the things that she has been put through broke my heart and made me want to rip out some wolves throats for real! Some craziness happens causing Em to have to run and hide who she truly is and she really doesn’t want to leave her dad and brother but knows she has too another heart breaking moment. Watching Emsley through out this story was beautiful she is coming into her own and she’s even stronger than she once was. The men *sigh* oh the men are just perfect! Alphas, broody, stubborn, possessive and all around just hot AF! Let’s not forget about her new found BFF Piers let me tell you this man will have you busting up and have tears running down your face he is the ultimate BFF I freaking love him! This was such a fantastic start to a new world and I am dying for the next book!!!
Oh Lucy.....you've got some explaining to do!! 🤣 Your writing is SOOOOO GOOD!! You pulled me in right from the start! Your characters jump off the page and become your friends! And the world building....jeepers man!! I really felt like was there. You are DEFINITELY one of my favorite authors! Emsley is a tough young woman...but it looks like she's going to become an Omega, and inher pack ( the prick pack😍) that isn't allowed to happen. So her Father, brother and her brothers best friends try to train her to be tough...she ends up going to a witch to hide her Omega side of her wolf.and meets her new BFF Piers! I absolutely love him! And then she gets back with King and Gray...and then along comes Cardell 🤪 wowzer! She is one lucky Omega!! Lucy writes with all the emotions in her stories...I laughed out loud..and the steam was really good not over done..it was just right...now I have to wait for book two 😩 and I can't get this one off my mind...now that's a great book!🥰😘
This story is packed full of drama and action. It has you on the edge of your seat. You feel the characters pain and happiness throughout the story. It is stunningly written that just has so much involved throughout it. I fell in love with King and Cardell. Emsley took a little bit to really get into but, at the same time you absolutely love her and feel everything she is going through. Gray is great and I really can’t wait to learn more about him. Piers absolutely had me laughing out loud. I love his personality. The descriptions are vivid as the help you easily picture what happens in the scenes. This is a roller coaster of ride through the emotions and the situations that the group goes through. It is most definitely a stunning story that is a must read. I am super excited for the second book and can’t wait to read it.
The execution of this one just wasn’t good. It needs editing super badly. There are typos galore and it needs help with the content. Things just happen out of nowhere with not enough information so you’re left feeling really confused a lot of the time.
I initially DNFed at 19% because of the issues but then decided to keep going because we get so few RHs with shy, timid, and innocent hs. I wish I wouldn’t have continued though. It kept getting worse and worse. 😬. I won’t be continuing on with this series because silly slapstick romcoms just aren’t for me and that’s what this turned into. There was way too much interaction between the h and her brand new BFF too. I want interaction between the Hs and the h. I don’t need a side character having this much page time.
And it’s reefer. Not reefers. Reefer is plural. That drove me insane. “i got some reefers” 😂😂. I can not.
I have to say I was expecting a good book but this story was fantastic. We get to meet Emsley who is a submissive wolf and is treated like dirt in her pack and is constantly abused. When a wolf turns 24 they ascend and find their hierarchy within the pack. In many books an Omega is treasured but in the Blackall Pack they are killed on-site or used as slaves. With the help of her father and King, her childhood friend, she decides to run. When she confirms that she is an Omega, King suggests they see a witch to hid her. However with this visit things are put into motion and Emsley is now running for her life to see if she can find a pack who will treat her as she deserves. Along the way we get to meet quite a few characters and see many more twists and turns! Such a good book!
