To me he actually surpasses them.” He has written more than 80 novels in the disaster, survival, medical and political thriller genres.
Black Friday, book 8 of the Boston Brahmin Political Thrillers series opens with explosive action and doesn't stop until the end of the book. I had to take breaks to let my blood pressure come back down and my breathing to regulate. When Bobby Akart wants to write a thriller, he takes his job seriously.
Sarge, Henry Winthrop Sargeant, is in the last two months of his Presidency and is fighting to bring the Pacific States back into the fold of the United States of America.
The legislative vote is a nail-biter. Sarge's administrative team feels like they've got enough votes locked in on their side. As they get closer to the vote, something doesn't seem right. The Admin team double-checks each person's vote and it appears to be a tighter race than they had expected.
When voting is finished, the Pacific States have won the right to join the Union under their own terms. Terms that are completely unacceptable to Sarge. He decides to hold off on signing the bill, a move called, "A Pocket Veto."
Events in the life of the First Family go haywire from here on. Sarge and his closest allies are ambushed at Camp David. The women of the Loyal Nine go on a Black Friday shopping trip to a mall in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and Julia and Rose are kidnapped.
I kid you not; the resolution to the story is a compulsive read that will keep your teeth grinding and your hands sweating and leave you like a wrung-out washcloth, and limp and draped over your chair.
In other words, you'll love this book! And it's a pity that this is the end of the series. But you know Bobby Akart, he'll be working on another great one to catch your attention. I highly recommend this series.
I love every book Bobby Akart puts out! Every book brings you into the series like your the actual characters going through all the ups and downs.. The Brahmin series is amazing so much thought and care with every detail
Now this is the Bobby Akart style of writing I have been missing. The storyteller has returned. There were no superheroes or families who know all have all and do all. What you are getting is a good book to read. Thank you.
As you can see, I enjoyed the book. It was fast paced, riveting and kept me interested from start to finished. Plus I had the opportunity to revisit characters I missed. This is the style of writing I enjoy. Definitely recommend. I know it said this was a standalone book, but you will enjoy it more knowing the back story so get the whole series and be prepared for a adventure.
It's good to see Sarge and the gang back in action!
President Henry Winthrop Sergent IV was looking forward to life past the Presidency. Just short weeks remained after the Holidays - if he could survive them! Nail biting action in a country torn in two, fighting for its identity. Sarge and the Elite Eight fight to save the country and his family. I couldn't put it down. It just never stopped! All my favorite characters returned like no time has passed! Some of the best written action sequences I've read since Clancy! Choose Freedom!
Strange how this book coincides with what is going on now, politically. It makes you stop and think about how corrupt the government really is. Bobby Akart knows his stuff btw. I looked up several subjects he wrote about, including the Boston Brahmin. It really does exist. He made the characters come to life. This would be great for a movie. One more book left in this series,,,, I have a feeling devastation will rear its ugly head for Sarge or Drew. We'll see!! I hate to see this series come to an end.
Welcome back to the Brahmans. Black Friday, 2024 was supposed to be a fun time for the President and his family. He was going to take the guys and go hunting and the girls were going to take the kids and go to the mall. Assassins have plans too. Plan A is to kill the President and plan B is to kidnap Julia. Sarge survived, but Julia and Rose got kidnapped. Time for the Loyal Nine to do what they do best.
Another great book, Black Friday was enthralling! I just wish it was longer. Bobby Akart continues to deliver the top thrillers of the year, year after year! The humor that subtly shines through his books continues... I love that this was published on Black Friday!
As usual, Akart has put a strong plot and interesting characters together into a well-devised plot. With an end to the apocalypse caused by the cyber attack, he focuses on politics and plots. While a bit overblown, the good guys manage to save the country without a hair out of place. It's a fun read.
I thought this series ended with book 7 but I was happily wrong and am glad to revisit the Loyal Nine. In fact, I hope there is another one to come to put a c!owe on this chapter. The Loyal Nine and their families have been targeted for assassination and their survival is very much in question. Full of action.
An attack against the President, his family and members of the Loyal Nine is bad enough but when the person carrying it out was once a friend and ally that betrayal cuts deeper. When a perceived slight manifests into a murderous rage, revenge becomes the only option. This book is an edge of your seat page turner that will grab your attention from the get go. I enjoyed this book a lot.
It was hard to put this series down! I loved how people came together to get out of the mess the country was in. It does bother me t hat someone has the power to cause such devastating damage to our county, especially an American citizen! But the eletist has the money and power to accomplish anything! Love reading Bobby Akart series.
I will not post a spoiler. I will say it was a great twist, out of left field read. I love all of Mr. Akart's books but I really wish he would stop leaving me hanging and already confirm the next book.
I couldn't put this book down, and read it into the wee hours. Sarge is such a mesmerizing character from the Boston Brahman series, I'd vote for him as president in real life. A smooth reading thriller.
Bobby has done it again. He gets you from the start of his books and you can’t put them down. So many nights of not getting enough sleep but we’ll worth it. Now on to find another one to read.
All of Bobby Akart’s books are fantastic! He gives his each character a real personality and infuses every chapter with realism and excitement. I always have trouble putting his books down to sleep, because they always keep me on the edge of my seat!
Bobby Akart is a very prolific author. I’ve read 90% of his books. I really enjoy this series. This book though, I didn’t enjoy as much as the others. It’s still worth the read.
This was great book that finishes a great series. My only complaint is that both the book and the series ended too soon! If there were an Oscar for book series this would vet it!!
Very well written, action from start to finish. Bobby Akart is a great author and his books are very believable fiction. I highly recommend this series.
Bitter Revenge: Black Friday is darker than it has ever been, when a plot explodes to take out the Loyal Nine. Will it succeed or will the intrepid group stand fast?
