Ash Barrett is a scientist. He believes in facts. But even he has to admit something supernatural is happening in his apartment. The ghost of his dead fiancé wants something from him. Ash needs reinforcements to figure out what.

Kenny Nguyen, late-night talk show host of Medium to Well, is in the business of helping people finish theirs--of the unfinished and spirit variety. He's seen it all, but Ash's deceased love has the most outrageous request Kenny's heard in a while. He'd say no, except Ash is gorgeous, kind, and willing to do anything to lay his fiancé's spirit to rest.

If Kenny accepts a ghostly indecent proposal, could Ash still want a relationship after? And for a man who believes in science, can Ash trust what he can't see and take a chance at love?

Medium to Well is a 53k word paranormal M/M Romance between a haunted marine biologist and a television personality who talks to spirits for a living. This book contains ghostly shenanigans, malevolent spirits and poltergeists who find a change of heart, therapy and grief counseling, a grumpy old mentor, and a haunted Hollywood happily ever after!

Haunted by the past

This book has a lot of feels and it made me tear up more than once. Ash has been struck in limbo since his boyfriend and almost fiancé was killed in an accident. Now the ghost of his lover is making his life miserable. When he tries to contact Kenny from a popular TV show about a medium, he gets turned down. But he almost literally runs into the man later on his bike. Kenny is reluctant to help Ash at first but these two start to draw close as they work through what Stephen is trying to tell them both. A very sweet book full of love and ghosts and learning to be a family and live with grief in a healthy way. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Stephen had died crossing the street. Ash was haunted by his death in more ways than one

Kenny is the medium they both liked watching on tv. could he help Ash move ahead with his life, and beyond his loss of Stephen and the darkness that plagued him since his death?

Love that does not die, but takes a different route

Finding Closure and Healing . . .

Stephen died a year ago. He found out he had purchased rings for them and was about to propose. His family just brought his remains over in an urn, and things have started to get strange for Ash Barrett. Items were being vandalized, stuffing torn out of stuffed animals, a keychain destroyed, shot glasses shattered. The security cameras showed nothing. Ash reached out to a medium in desperation but was told Kenny Nguyen, star of “Medium to Well”, was booked for the rest of the TV season. Ash is a scientist and is finding this hard to believe. But his phone popped up a steakhouse. Does Stephen want him to go there? The ghost of his dead fiancé wants something from him, but Ash needs help to decipher the message.

On the way to the steakhouse for a late dinner, Kenny Nguyen, late-night talk show host of Medium to Well, suddenly saw a shadow on a bicycle in front of his car and slammed the brakes. A man was in the darkness, but he couldn’t see him clearly. The man claimed he was pushed, then showed his phone’s picture of the steakhouse he was heading to. Since Kenny was going there too, he offered a ride. Then he invited him to eat with him. At the table, Kenny closed his eyes and opened his mind where the shadows cleared up and he saw Stephen.

Ash was attending Kenny’s show the following week. Afterward, they drove to Kenny’s home at Stephen’s request. Kenny knew Stephen wanted Ash to be okay before he moved on. So they would try to make things right. Stephen flashed scenes in Kenny’s mind to help understand and communicate. And then Stephen told Kenny what he needed from him. He wanted to say goodbye, but he wanted Ash to know how very much he loved him. To do that, he needed to use Kenny to make it a physical goodbye. He need to show Ash, then he could pass on.

Ash is gorgeous, kind, and willing to do anything so Stephen can find peace and move on. And Kenny wants to give Ash the closure he needs so he too can move on. But if Kenny agrees to what Stephen wants, would Ash be able to accept Kenny into his heart? Or would memories of Stephen keep them apart? Grab your copy and see how they decide to work out this situation so all three of them find the answer they need.

Medium to Well is the third creation by Edie Montreux that I've read and I've got to say, it's more suited to my tastes than the short story and the novel by this author that I've previously perused.

Edie's works seem to have a lot of social and environmental messages that come on too strong for me, but in this new book, the stress is on the romance between the two - or three? - characters. Two or three, because it's not only about the new relationship developing between Ash and Kenny but also about the affection Ash and Stephen still have for each other.

This book is about grief and coping with loss in a healthy way, by finding loving support. It's also about learning to move on without the guilt of betraying those who are no longer living.

The banter isn't as fun for me as it is for the characters, but I still found myself smiling at the sweet interactions between Ash and Kenny, and from what we learn about the former's relationship with Stephen, I'd say Ash and Kenny are a better match.

But that's all a matter of personal opinion, of course.

As a book that's supposed to set the stage for others in the same universe, I would've preferred we got more info on the supernatural.

In the beginning, Stephen is labeled as a poltergeist and therefore dangerous. But if Stephen is haunting Ash with malicious intent, why would he want Kenny to help Ash? And if he's not, why would Kenny and Ali label Stephen as a malicious and dangerous poltergeist?

Later on - and probably because of his experience with Stephen - Kenny claims that not all poltergeists are malicious, but if poltergeists aren't malicious spirits, then what is the difference between them and other spirits?

I still can't figure it out and I would appreciate more details on this in later books.

All in all, Medium to Well is a short and enjoyable read that I'd recommend to romance lovers who want a supernatural touch in their books.

My rating: 4.5/5 poltergeists.

Scientist Ash Barrett deals with facts but when things start happening in his apartment he has to accept that the ghost of his dead fiance wants something from him - he just needs help to figure out what he wants. Kenny Nguyen is the host of a late-night TV programme called Medium to Well which helps people to finish their outstanding spirit business. Then he finds that Stephen who is Ash's deceased fiance has the most outrageous request he has ever heard - something he would say no to without thought except that Ash is gorgeous, kind and willing to do anything to lay his fiance's spirit to rest. If Kenny accepts the ghostly indecent proposal would Ash want a relationship afterwards with Kenny himself and can Ash trust something he can't see in order to have a chance at love.

This was a really sweet story with a grieving Ash, a badgered Kenny, a determined ghost called Stephen and a series of events that conspired to ensure that Stephen got his way. I loved the way that Kenny accepted Ash and his need to move past his relationship with Stephen even though one of the ways he helped was a lot freaky. There were definitely times that I wanted to shake Ash and so I was very relieved when he understood what was happening. Easy to read and understand, this story contains explicit mature content in an MM context. I was thrilled when everything worked out and they got the HEA that they both deserved.

I liked the idea of this book so much, and there were definitely parts that moved me: Stephen’s fate, described from his perspective, was heartbreaking, and Ash and Kenny together sometimes have a sweet, careful chemistry that was easy to root for. It was hard for me, however, to find my footing with the tone of this story-- perhaps that's because what spirits could do, and what Kenny could do, seemed to be constantly changing, as did the relationship dynamics between Ash/Kenny/Stephen. Stephen is such a large and determinative force, in fact, that the progression of the relationship between Ash and Kenny was sometimes elided, and it felt like their romance was almost entirely Stephen’s idea, and his energy driving them forward. I wanted this to be a longer book or a book with fewer moving pieces, because it definitely felt at times like a bit of a whirlwind. There’s a lot of potential here, but to me it didn’t quite feel fully developed.

Medium to Well: Kenny, Ash, and a Matchmaking Spirit

I love this book: I just could not put it down. It's a romantic, funny, page-turner. Rather than haunting, what I really liked was the deceased lover (Stephen) who plays matchmaker in the most interesting way. Both Kenny and Ash are wounded souls in their own way, and their journey as individuals and as lovers is absolutely phenomenal. Were the characters engaging? Absolutely. I loved that there are all types of characters, so this is not a generic paranormal haunting story. The world-building for the intersection of the present and afterlife, including details for this type of television personality are excellent. My only dislike is when I got to the end of the book. I just didn't want the story and the relationship to end. For those who need a bit a laughter, for those who have known grief, and for those who like nice steamy sex - this is the book to grab quick and not put down.

Beautiful

Ash's world has been attracted to a standstill since the accidental loss of his finance Stephen. Too bad Stephen has moved on and not so subtly enlists the help of Kenny in a way that only a ghost can. This book is both heartbreaking and funny with hope sprinkled in to move past the pain. Edie does a brilliant job in balancing the story where some things could be taken wrong, yet each step needs to be taken for everyone to move forward. To make the dead finace a vital role was pure brilliance and so dang heartbreakingly beautiful at the same time. Kenny is so dang beautiful in helping Ash move forward and accepting all his pain is valid and can not just be pushed aside just because Ash has someone new. It's a beautiful read that I am so happy to have given a try.

❤👻A great start as the book begins right into the story as Ash needs help with his Ex boyfriend's ghost.
Contacting the elusive Medium Kenny was harder than cracking a nut lol.
Stephen is a very persistent and dangerous ghost who wanted his message heard. But what he wants was super wearied and could lead to things going wrong..we'll see. no spoilers ;)

I loved this book for these guys yah I mean them all. Lots of feels including grief and it almost had me in tears. Laughs and sexy scenes included. This wasn't the first book by the author I'd read and I'd loved the others too. Easy reading with both pov's with Stephens thoughts too..
Ash and Stephen had been together for awhile when Stephen had been killed.

3 1/2 stars.

I really enjoyed the first 1/3rd - Ash's haunting, Kenny's family issues - the rest seemed like a rush to the end.

The "I love you"s came out of what seemed like nowhere, I was icked out by the whole , Ash's interactions with his therapist could have been explored in more detail, and the end where is just a "huh?"

Kenny's wrap up with his Nana was well done, but overall, if this is going to be a series it would have benefited from a slow build up versus what we got.

Freaking Amazing

I absolutely adore the characters in this story. I really felt a connection to them and their story. There was humor, there was sweet and sexy, there was the paranormal aspect that I love in books. This story touched me and made me feel... Maybe because I'm a widow in my first year and could understand the grief and finding a new life after loss aspect.... It made me smile to read this story.

This would have gotten a higher rating but I just found the whole "letting the old bf possess the psychic so he can have sex with his lover one more time" to be incredibly creepy and gross. Besides the ick factor, that kind of selfish request says a lot about the dead bf and agreeing to it says a lot about the mc, none of it good.

This was a humorous, fun M/M paranormal, second chance romance. This is the story of Ash a scientist, the ghost of his deceased fiancée Stephan, and Kenny a popular TV Medium. It is an enjoyable light short story.

I enjoyed reading this book, even though I found it quite sad in places. I thought the author handled the paranormal subjects really well and I enjoyed the characters. Recommend reading.

DNF. 56% or a bit more. The premise took me out to be honest. I really tried. I even got through the whole “event” and afterwards and I just thought, nope not for me.

“Don’t let the sadness from the past and fear of the future ruin the happiness of the present.” ~ Kid Cudi

It’s been a year since Ash, of ‘Medium to Well’ by Edie Montreux, lost his fiancé, Stephen, in a horrible accident. Since then, Ash has had trouble moving on. Strange things have happened in their apartment, i.e., pictures have fallen off the wall, stuffed animals have been disemboweled, etcetera. Ash is sure that someone is haunting him, and the poltergeist causing the havoc seems to be Stephen. He tries to see medium Kenny Nguyen, but the man is all booked up.

When Ash looks at his phone, a steak house commercial is on his screen, either a fluke or a paranormal suggestion, courtesy of Stephen. Ash heads to the restaurant to celebrate getting a raise at work. On the way, his bike inexplicably swerves in the path of a car. The driver gets out to scold and check on him. Ash recognizes Kenny Nguyen, just the person he needs. Since the accident shakes Ash up, Kenny offers him a ride. When Ash tells him where he is going, Kenny offers to take Ash to dinner. Kenny gets to know Ash and Stephen during their meal. Stephen constantly cuts into their conversation, adding facts that Kenny has no way of knowing. Stephen practically begs Kenny to help Ash.

Although he is busy, Kenny wants to help Ash and Stephen too, but his thoughts about Ash are anything but professional. Kenny takes Ash to his home to have the calmness and concentration needed rather than Ash’s apartment, where it would have been chaotic. Even though Ash is uncomfortable, Kenny explains Stephen is insistent that he be there, that he deserves not to be alone. Through his communications, Kenny learns about how Stephen’s death has changed Ash from a self-confident, cheerful person to an unhappy, insecure one. Stephen wants to help Ash move on and to find love again. Also, Stephen wants a chance to say goodbye; he needs Kenny’s help in not an illegal way, but in a possibly immoral one. It’s not without danger to Kenny, and it’s not something Ash may want to go along with. If they consent, it could kill any chances Kenny may have with Ash in the future.

‘Medium to Well’ is a good, quirky story. The idea of a television show about a medium was appealing. Separately, I liked the characters, but I felt little chemistry between them. Stephen put them in an awkward position, and they made the best of it, but not without challenges. In the end, Ash, Kenny, and Stephen found happiness, but in a very unconventional way. Thanks, Edie. I look forward to the next book in the series.
