the mission- the only mission

Breaking Brenna is book two in the series Darkwater SEALs by author Annabelle Winters. As all books written by this particular author - it weaves a tale of Fate/Destiny that is so addicting that you don’t realize it’s almost done it until it is. Then you’re begging for more (like Oliver).
Benson- this character is definitely intriguing- a force of inspiration- you just know he has the ear of some deity. The moves he makes are those of a grandmaster at chess- only his choice of boards is life.
Brenna & Bruiser are perfect for each other just enough sass and alpha attitudes that make it work. Oh and let’s not for forget the deliciously erotic moments- yummy- talk about cold showers or better yet BOB’s.

Steamy, Navy SEAL Bruiser meets his match in Brenna with suspense, intrigue and more
Ms. Winters has written a powerful romance between a former Navy SEAL and a big-beautiful-woman. Bruiser is now part of Benson’s Team Darkwater Special Operations which is a clandestine unknown group of guys who do what needs to be done but do it under cover and without fanfare. Brenna has been captured and held in a secret prison in Ukraine for a week now. She’s been beaten, starved and threatened for something that she doesn’t have. Her prisoners don’t believe her but there is someone who is desperate for what he thinks she knows. He is sending in a man who has dangerous and scary predilections where women are concerned. Damyan Nagarev needs money and his compatriot, Mikhail Gervin, aka Mikhail the Tongueless is coming for Brenna!
This was a nail-biter in places, philosophical in others along with an intricate mystery or two. Ms. Winters has written an almost sympathetic villain in Damyan. The main characters Bruiser and Brenna meet, fall in lust and then... Don’t read if you’re not proud of our military, our special forces and by extension our country.
Just like all of Ms. Winters books this one grabs you early and holds on to the end. Great ending as usual too. She’s also doing her alphabetical thing again, last book had Ax meet Amy. In this book Bruiser meets Brenna. The next two Darkwater team members are Cody and Dogg. I’m already planning on reading “Capturing Cate” which will be Cody’s story. If you like strong men who meet their mate and go all caveman with intrigue and mystery, read this book. I volunteered to review an ARC through Booksprout.

I absolutely love the Darkwater SEALS’s series! This story picks up with our favorite SEAL’s (Ax, Bruiser, Cody, & Dogg) attending the wedding of Ax and Amy. John Benson (the man who originated the secret operations group) is somewhat of a matchmaker – he seems to know which SEAL will be perfect for his mission’s. This mission seems to be the right one for Bruiser. Bruiser is just that – he is a big, strong, alpha who has been like this since the 3rd grade. Like John and his brothers, Bruiser is very patriotic and will do whatever it takes to protect his country and those he loves. Along comes Brenna Yaknova – she is a Princeton grad who is strong, sassy, and someone who does not like to give up control or trust very easily. Brenna is captured in Russian when she goes to look for her father’s grave. She is taken to an underground prison in the Ukraine. Bruiser is sent to “rescue” Brenna and get some information out of her. At the prison, there is a spark between Brenna and Bruiser (even though she thinks he is someone else) and Brenna is not happy about it! And Bruiser has decided that he will do anything to protect this woman!

The banter between Bruiser and Brenna is HOT! Secrets come out, lies and truths are told, revelations, deception, and lots of steamy scenes! There is a little mystery and intrigue and I love how the characters think about things and realize what is going on! Great story, love these characters and I am looking forward to the next book with Cody! I can’t wait to see who Benson thinks is “the one” for him!

This is the 2nd story in the Team Darkwater steamy series about former Navy Seal, Bruiser and Brenna who grew up in the US with a Russian father who visited every so often. While Bruiser is at Ax and Amy’s wedding he gets a visit from John Benson, their team leader and gives him a secret mission to rescue Brenna who has been taken a prisoner being held in a off the grid Ukraine prison while visiting Russia as she found out her father passed away years ago. Her capturers believe she has access to money her father stole from them years ago and they have her beaten and starved. Bruiser pretends to be the one to retrieve her and is surprised she is being rescued but once the enemy, Mikhail shows up and Bruiser needs another quick escape plan. Mikhail has no tongue and is known for how badly he treats women and Brenna is scared wishing Bruiser stayed. Damyan worked with her father years ago and is desperate to get his money back and along the way loses his right hand man Mikhail and left to fight for his life against Bruiser. Benson gives his orders and Bruiser is stuck with what he wants and needs to do as after spending time with Brenna he considers her his and wants nothing but to protect her above all else! There are secrets, lies, steamy scenes with Bruiser and Brenna along with Benson wielding his destiny and fate into their journey. Bruiser is a former Navy Seal who's now a member of Benson's Team Darkwater Special Ops. They are a clandestine group of guys who do what's necessary but they do it discreetly without any hoopla. Brenna is being held in a secret prison in Ukraine she's been there since they kidnapped her a week ago. She's being starved,beaten and threatened for something that she has no knowledge of. They don't believe her and are sending in a very dangerous man who likes to hurt women. Bruiser is sent to rescue Brenna and get some information from her when they meet at the prison there's a spark between them but Brenna mistakes him for someone else. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this action packed story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Bruiser has been given the mission of breaking Brenna out of a hidden Russian prison, where she landed when she came to find her fathers grave. People think she knows something and are using everything in their arsenal to get it out of her. Bruiser and Brenna learn to trust each other and put their heads together right away, building a relationship of respect and support and then a lot more heat develops. The characters are complex, with great backstories, intense feelings and determination. The storyline has plenty of drama, danger, surprises, twists, betrayal, trust, protectiveness and much more. Definitely a book you can not put down so plan enough time to read it all at once. The tension and romance builds right up to the great ending.

This is part 2 of the Darkwater Seals series. Ms Winter has done it again, Brenna and Bruiser have their own story that is full of action and danger, violence but also full of hot and steamy scenes. Stories about the military always do well.

The storyline and the characters and their characters fit together fantastically.
The author knows how to keep your attention on the story. I'm already looking forward to the next in this series, what the other characters experience. Or that also make your ears and cheeks glow red during the hot scenes.

Bruiser and Brenna's story is fast-paced and action-packed about how Bruiser, a special ops expert is sent to Ukraine to extract Brenna Yaknova from a secret prison where she's been held for a week. A week during which she's been abused, beaten and starved and she doesn't know why. She doesn't have what they're looking for but they don't believe her and are bringing in the torturer! So when Bruiser arrives to rescue her she's unsure if she can trust him, there are lots of twists and turns, secrets and lies and so much danger! Quite exciting.

The chemistry between these two is palpable, I loved their banter and the touches of humour.

Bruiser is a former Navy Seal and member of Team Darkwater. He was sent on a mission to rescue Brenna, get information from her, and walk away but once he saves her sparks fly. This is an ott Annabelle Winters style, action packed story with danger, mystery, secrets, suspense, steam, and unexpected twists that made this a page turning read. Breaking Brenna is book two and a great addition to the Team Darkwater series and I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Super steamy romantic suspense! I really enjoyed the storyline and the strong presence of each character. Unexpected humor and plot twists made this book a hard one to put down. Some of the steamy moments made me blush but the storyline was so good I kept going. Looking forward to the next in this series of standalone reads with cameos from other book characters.

Breaking Brenna is freaking hot, it almost melted my Reader.
Brenna and chemistry is so hot. I could practically feel the heat from them both.

I’m totally looking forward to seeing is Cody’s story.

This is the second book in the series and it can be read as a standalone. After Brenna is kidnapped in Russia, Bruiser is sent to rescue you and get some information from her. What will happen when sparks fly between them? Fast-paced read with plenty of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters, a fast-paced and entertaining story. I really liked it.

When I read the blurb for this book, I expected to enjoy it. I figured I would give a shot to this author who was new to me. What I did not expect was to be so captivated by the romance, adventure, drama and love that was writen into this story. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story. Hmm

I debated between 3 or 4 stars for this book. Military, black ops are one of my favorite genres. However, I don't like the over watch character, John Benson. He is scheming, sneaky and not forthcoming with his operatives, thus putting them in potential danger. He has his own agenda and I am not sure it is a good one.

Brenna has gone to try to visit her fathers grave. She's captured and questioned, but does not know why. Bruiser's job is to rescue her and find out what she knows. He wasn't expecting to fall for her though and want to save her from his boss as well.
This is a pretty good book. A little slow, but has some spice to it.

Very slow

Very very slow going. It was a hard slog and having reached half way through, hardly anything had happened and definitely no 🌶️🌶️ action by then. I gave up in the end. I had been jumping large chunks and you could still follow the story.
