In a family of doctors, Kalix decided to take a different path and found himself studying Legal Management in Ateneo De Manila University. With a family pressure on him, he tried so hard to maintain his high grades as a Dean's Lister until Luna from UST Architecture came.
Rereading this goes to the list of my top worst decisions of my life. I wanted a light and feel-good wattpad story because I miss reading those, but I felt angrier than feeling wholesome and fluffy.
The story revolves around Kalix and Luna, and how slowly they lose themselves and their dreams as they face odds in their relationship.
Now, what do I like about this book? - It is fast-paced and easy to read and digest. - It doesn’t require that much brain capacity to understand the themes and plot because it is straightforward.
THAT’S IT??? YOU’RE SO PICKY AND HATEFUL! Yes, it’s a shitty story, that’s why. Now here are the reasons I despise this story: - I have read books with quirky characters and I tolerated most of them, loved some even, but Luna makes me want to pull her hair. - Kalix is animated, bland, and one-dimensional. It’s as if the author made a wheel filled with endearing characteristics, spun it, and based his personality traits on the results. This man is the embodiment of lazy characterization. - The dialogues, lord, save me. The jokes were cringe-worthy at best. I just want Luna to shut up, she is so irritating. Kalix places second in being irritating, and it’s a good thing that he doesn’t speak much because when he does, I just want to end my life. - Also, the law terminologies are so out of place yet the author constantly include them in dialogues? I only know one Law student personally, but I have never heard him use these terminologies in daily conversations. Kalix is so pretentious, I hate him so much.
“Paano kapag hindi kita sinagot?” “You have a choice. I will not deprive you of your liberty.” Dude, you’re asked a normal question. Answer like a normal human being.
When asked about his type, he says: “Just someone nice, someone who can respect my time, and someone who won’t deprive me of my life, liberty, and property without due process” If a man ever replies this to me, I’ll run the other way.
Luna then proceeds to ask kung ilan ang naging kalandian niya, and this mofo replies: “I have the right to remain silent.” Fuck, yes, please remain silent for the entirety of the story.
- Now the narration. The narration is meh. It shows that she wrote twitter seryes because her narration feels a lot like that. I also hated how there are a lot of unnecessary details that do not affect the plot. It speaks a lot about her writing skills. - I mentioned that I love how I didn’t need that much brain capacity in reading this story since this is pretty straightforward, but I’ll also mention how much I hate it, too. It was straightforward to the point that the author dictates how the readers should feel. For instance, there was a scene where Luna narrates how her ex-boyfriend was too controlling. Instead of allowing readers to formulate their own opinion regarding this matter, the author already dictated how the readers should feel through this conversation. This, I noticed, was prevalent in most of her stories. I love a straightforward narration, but if it doesn’t allow discussions and differing opinions, I think it will reflect poorly on the author. A good story engages the readers, makes them think, and reflect on the themes. This story spoon-fed its readers, instead. - The characters acted like teenagers even after a ten-year time skip. Look, I understand that there are people who act differently than their age, but the characters did not mature nor develop even when the author said that they did. - I realized, as I reread this, why I quit reading wattpad stories. There is a recurring theme in these stories: vilifying women and pitting them against other women. The same is true in this story. There must be a woman who tries to tear the two main characters apart for the sake of plot and character development. It’s cliché and redundant. - Plot-wise, it adds nothing new to the genre. It’s boring and repetitive.
Overall, I hate this story. I do understand the hype, though, and why it’s mainstream.
super taas ng expectations ko dito as in kasi ang daming nag-hype, siguro if mga 15 yrs old ako matutuwa ako, pero now na mas matanda na ako nah HAHAHAHA
ganto kasi formula ng romance sa wattpad: may girl na madaldal may boy na tahimik, chase part, jowa, away dahil sa best friend, magbe-break dahil ayaw makinig, magkikita after a few years, then magkakatuluyan, sobrang cliche at predictable, sa huli forgettable rin 'yung story
but if you're looking for a fast read and kilig ayan go, saka nag-enjoy ako sa mga part na nakaka-relate ako kasi sa ph 'yung setting, lalo na sa dapitan, but overall sorry but no
"With her, I have the moon... and the stars. I could never ask for more."
Current Thoughts
A quick update from the present. Upon reflecting about this book for a while and how it has gotten so much popular from the time I read it, I can safely say that I probably wouldn't have liked this as much if I just read this now for the first time. I've read plenty of romance books since then, and in comparison, this is a bit juvenile. But I won't change my rating since I did have a fun time with this when I was just getting into the romance genre.
Initial Thoughts
Not a favorite of mine, but for Wattpad standards, this is pretty great. I rarely give out compliments like this for a wattpad book, but let me justisfy my answer.
The main criticism I recall from comments I've read is that, they felt like the story follows a very generic plotline. Clichè. Nothing new.
And I'm not going to sugarcoat anything, because I agree.
Yes, the plot has been done countless times before. Yes, the main characters are the typical "serious" guy and "quirky" girl. Yes, the main conflict was somewhat shallow and could be resolved if the characters just communicate their feelings. And I acknowledge all of that.
But what sets it apart from other wattpad stories is the execution.
I don't know how many times have I come across a story where the author tries to come up with such unique and sometimes taboo concepts just to be different, but could never execute them well. They're like cakes with daring icings and stunning decorations but the actual cake was awful.
The things this book did that made it stood out to me:
1. Authentic Dialogues - Most wattpad stories fail at this. The dialogues are either too formal or too unrealistic, that sometimes the characters felt like they're reading a script. Especially if the main setting is modern or urban. But here, the characters felt like real people. They talk like real people. The inclusion of current slang words such as "char" etc. also added to the realism of the lines. Some might find it corny, but for me, it made the interactions flow naturally.
2. Both the Female and Male Lead are equals - At first, I was quite turned off by how Luna is the one who did the first move and is basically the only one who carries their interactions. She's doing most of the effort while Kalix is just passive. But once they got together and the main conflict happened, we saw how Kalix tries to make up for his mistakes. We saw how much he values his relationship with Luna. We saw how much, even after 10 years, his love for her never faltered. We saw how he did his best to gain back her trust, and he wasn't oblivious to Luna's emotions like 90% of wattpad boys. He did not invalidate her side. He understands her.
Yes, Luna did almost everything in the first half, since Kalix gave us the bare minimum and I found him a little bland. But the second half is where he shines. They're both different, personality and career wise. And even how they handle situations. But they both brought something to the table. They're both strong people individually, but they're stronger together.
And it is one of the most satisfying and angsty relationship I've come across in the romance genre.
3. Realism - Probably the reason why so many people hyped this up with countless praises is the realistic elements. Again, most wattpad books try to attempt this, but most of them fail. The plot, besides focusing on the romance, highlights the life of college students and the life after. That's why it's called the "University series". It portrays the day to day routines of new adults, what they do during school hours, projects, parties, room sharing etc. I know so many people find this familiar.
Though, as we all know of Gwy Saludes' background and lifesfyle, we already know she's living an above average life. And it reflects in her story telling. The mundane stuff for her are things normal people like us would find privileged. Her characters are basically rich people living their lives. And it wouldn't be relatable to most people. But it doesn't bother me. I don't need to relate to a character for me to be engaged or be interested in their stories (usually, I never relate to them anyway, so...). But the life statuses of her characters never borderlines unrealistic. They read like real privileged people.
So many romance books try to over exaggerate the statuses of their characters. Overly rich that they can buy everything the fl needs, overly successful that they have multiple million-earning-businesses, overly famous to the point that their popularity made them inhuman and unreachable.
And I think this book achieved this without being unbelievable.
4. Emotional Delivery - The Rain in España is the only romance wattpad book that gave me stomach ache and cold feet. The only romance that made me feel things. I was up for a whole entire day because I was so engrossed in the story and their relationship, even if their problem is somewhat trivial. The author did a good job at making you work through the development of the relationship, and when they finally got together, she tears them apart in the most heartbreaking and cruel way. And I loved that. I never even realized how much I care for the characters until I felt my chest tightening when they're breaking apart.
And for me, that's what signifies a good story. You can have the most incredible story ideas, but if the execution is lacklustre and I did not feel a single attachment to the story, it's not gonna stick with me.
Negatives
Of course, a book like this is not without its flaws. I've already mentioned some of them above, but I'll just give a quick run-through.
• It's very clichè. • There are no plot-twists (atleast as far as I remember, since I've read this along time ago) • The main conflict is driven by miscommunication. • The writing style is very simplistic and it's obvious that it was written by a teenager. • Pacing can be a little bit inconsistent, especially in the beginning. • The main characters can be a little annoying at times. • Slight misogynistic? What I mean by this is that all female characters in this are basically a SIMP for their male love interest. And basing from the personality of the author herself, her male leads are her "dream boys" as you can say, so she probably wrote her female characters similar to herself crushing for her boy types. I don't know why, but that's the feeling I got.
I've read this back in 2020, in quarantine, obviously. Originally, my rate would be 4.5/5 stars but after a few rereads it would be 2/5, since I'm kind enough to give a rate for the author's efforts.
I am going to elaborate my pros and cons with this story by its structure and my observations. Please be warned that these are all my opinions and observations and this is no hate speech.
Pros: The friendship - The friendship is widely highlighted and it is the signature of the University Series sequence of stories. The friendship is widely relatable and it needs it own series. It does overlap the romance, and has more life than the romance in the series. The friendship between cousins, Luna and Kierra, and Luna and Sevi, are one of the most favorable relationships in the story.
Sequencing - The sequence is just like a twitterserye's structure. Twitterseryes have defined a new age and definition of Filipino literature. The author has written twitterseryes before coming back to Wattpad to write this series. The sequence is like reading a Filipino coming of age, teen drama, and romance film in a Wattpad book. It is so modern, chic, and tech-savy, you wouldn't need a high level of comprehension to read this since the style is simplistic and modern.
- The sequence happens to be my favorite since it is straightforward, narrates what should've been narrated.
Motifs - The dialogue is modern, and most characters talk actually like the youth of today. Gen Z words, phrases, catchphrases, and the likes are mostly incorporated in her works.
Cons: Characterization - Some characters in the story is so established that we might not want to read their stories to explore what happened on the other side. I very much have problems with the establishment of Kalix as a male lead. He doesn't fit the prototype of what girls should fall in love with. Adonis and Sevi have more personality than him. Luna acts as if she is still in junior high.
Romance - The romance in the story is forced and doesn't have any chemistry. It is lackluster, bland, and unappealing. There are sweet moments between the characters in the series but in The Rain in Espana it didn't have any sweet moments. The reason why I could call it lackluster, bland, and unappealing is that from the moment of the courtship down to the relationship I find Kalix somewhat emotionally distant and Luna is the one holding the relationship together. Both Luna and Kalix (I mean no harm) are incompatible.
Timeline & Conflict - The ten year timeskip between the prologue and the flashbacks has small justifications. The conflict is typical break up then comeback.
Sequence - The sequence is one of my pros but it also has its cons. It has so many filler scenes to the point that we don't need next stories for the characters, they're all established from the prologue, they became distinctive. It is fast-paced just like a Filipino film. There were many scenes between Luna and Sevi, I still wonder why she, the author, didn't explore their compatibility even more.
- The drama is so over the place that most of the characters act like 13 year olds when they dealt with LuKal drama.
Motifs - Just like the sequence, it has its flaws too. The constant brand dropping is so cringe like no one wants to hear that. I do get that it is a common Wattpad sequence to brand drop to flex the characters' wealth but constant brand dropping is cringe.
- The characters are foul mouthed. Which I find so annoying every time they try to make everyone laugh. It comes off as offensive. I found this a recurring motif in the work.
- The excessive partying and drinking. Since we are talking about *University* in the series, can the author show us academic life, academic pressure, and having difficult time management in college? The characters are either drinking or hanging out, often going to bars and getting wasted.
Overall, the story is good but not too good. I could rate this story as average to below average. Since it is typical and only has aesthetics. I do not deny that the book is charming as the series. It is a Wattpad story teens would remember but as you grow older and wiser, you'd realize that this story is too typical and doesn't much of an appeal opposition to the hype it gets.
When I first read it in 2020, I'm not gonna lie I enjoyed it. It was a fun and lightish read. 2 years later, I decided to give it another try... But it's not it anymore. Dialogues were just plain bland and not to mention the cringey lines, specially in the first few chapters. Just wanted Luna to shut up.
It wasn't a good story to start. While there are a lot of cringey–cheesy lines, there are also unnecessary lines. God, ang daming fillers. And anyone who reads knows it's not really good for stories to have a lot of filler lines and scenes, considering na in-edit na pala ito.
I've read a lot of stories before with Luna-like characters but Luna was just different. She was just... full of humor and I don't know if that's even a good thing. Kalix was... bland. I just don't feel him anymore. Para siyang robot.
God, the inuman. I went to college in one of the universities na nabanggit sa stories, yeah, I had a lot of fun and had share of stories too but this was just too much.
I did finish it, in 2020. I still question and don't understand the 10 year miscommunication thing Luna and Kalix had. I understand Gwy wrote twitter seryes, hell, I even hyped them before... come to think of it, TRIE would be nice as a twitter serye... kasi yung mga lines pang Twitter serye.
Nevertheless, I will still proceed with the next stories from this installement hoping to get something new and growth from Gwy and her characters.
At first, I left this on-hold even though I liked all her Twitter-serye. But Wattpad pages has been hyping up the series so I gave it a go and I fell in-love. Out of the boys in the whole series, I think Kalix is my least favorite, not that I hate him or something.
4reuminct's writing style really reminds me of Jonaxx's but it feels a bit toned down thus reading it was a breeze.
The plot is the usual romance novel, they got together, broke up and got together again. But I think what defers stories like this from the usual plots are the build up of character and the character that was made by the author and I really like how she made each character stand out, whether it be the main character or a side character.
But one this is for sure, once you read the first one, you'll surely have to read the rest of it.
It was okay, I guess. Rain in España represents that feel good novel that you are craving for with just the right amount of ka-kornihan when it comes to being lovey-dovey.
Although, I find some dialogue truly cringe-fest I had to admit there’s that curiosity that leaves you flipping through the pages, not because you cannot predict what comes next but because of being a marites and staring and swimming right in the center of its drama. And I do appreciate that the romance through were handled healthily… Also, the jumping of timelines was done tastefully.
nothing special from start to finish. for me the book is a waste of money but if that what makes u happy then it's your decision.
— the characters is so cartoonish that is done in a annoying way they also look like role playing. — the plot is cliche, predictable and boring. — the dialogues is cheesy and not relevant. lastly, the writing style.
i also understand the hype of this book and the author bcs clearly her readers are 10-17 years old base on my observation so that explains everything.
- I don't think so. Nope. There are many more undiscovered books that are better than this but since her readers are teenagers from facebook and twitter, na overhype masyado.
Is the plot good? 1/5
- Honestly, too basic. Cliché. Predictable. Lame. Boring. The plot (kung meron man) is easy to understand so you don't really need much comprehension since very straightforward ang pagkakasulat. I don't see any plot twist in the story. As I said, the story is too predictable and cliché and maraming unnecessary scenes sa story so yeah its boring.
Would I recommend it to others? 1/5
-If you are new to wattpad and you are looking for a light and easy to understand story, you can read this for a start but as I said marami pang ibang libro that is worth your time. For me, this series is just a.. phase🤷♀️
Are they the "standard"? 0/5
-Definitely not. Nope. Not at all. Never. No.
•Kalix is literally doing just the BARE MINIMUM, pero dahil "gwapo" and "mayaman" and typical "cold serious guy" ang pagkakadescribe, nagustuhan ng iba. Then they say that their standard is "high"? Just because gwapo "high" na agad? Uhm, whatever. Masyadong na-glorify yung mga actions dahil nga gwapo and mayaman at may sariling law firm si guy. And please, the law terminolgies is so random. At first yeah it seems cool, pero yung "I have the right to remain silent"--💀💀💀
Kalix is literally like Edward Cullen😐
Hinatid si Luna at hindi pinagsamantalahan dahil lasing? BARE MINIMUM. SRSLY HOW IS THIS THE STANDARD? IT'S BASIC HUMAN DECENCY. THE BASIC.
Kalix respects Luna's friends and family? B.A.R.E. M.I.N.I.M.U.M.
Kalix never cheated on Luna? FUCKING BARE MINIMUM LIKE SERIOUSLY?
Kalix drove from Ateneo to UST? I MEAN YEAH MAHAL ANG GAS BUT NANLILIGAW SIYA DIBA SO??? BARE MINIMUM.
Comments: : My standard went📈📈📈 : Why would I lower my standard when--🥺💗 : 💳💳💳💥 : Oh, to be Luna😭
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Siguro ang mga nagustuhan ko lang sa kanya is yung determination niya to pursue law and even though pin-pressure siya ng mom niya, he still did well. He became successful despite that pressure and I know law school is hard so yeah.
But it doesn't change the fact na plain talaga ang pagkakasulat sa character niya. He is described as a cold and serious guy but he's just actually plain, bland and one-dimensional. Know the difference between them. And please, stop glorifying him for doing the bare minimum.
•Luna is immature and I didn't really see any major changes or character development in her. I've read stories with characters who almost had the same personality as hers, but the difference is there is a character development.
Like yung mga scenes kay Sevi, uhm girl are u okay?
Like grabeng kamanhidan naman yan? Is it a trauma or shock response dahil "hindi niya alam" kung bakit may nagsuntukan? NOPE. Nag-focus kasi siya sa landi at kilig niya kay Kalix and manhid lang talaga siya. Not really the "best girl". 🤷♀️
And then 10 years later after their break up, let's say 28-29 years old na siya or something... where is the character development? Hindi ko sinasabing mag-iba ang ugali niya, ang hinahanap ko ay yung "improvement". It's still the same jokes, attitude, etc.
The only thing I liked about her is how she treats her friends and family. Through ups and downs she was there and that is good. And good thing she didn't changed her behavior with them through the years.
Should we call her the "best girl"? I don't think so.. well atleast for me. It depends on your preferences, but don't glorify her that much.
Now for the couple, naghintay ng 10 years even without assurance? What took them so long? Hindi naman pumunta sa ibang bansa, they are in the same circle of friends so I don't really get it. Nag-iiwasan? First of all kung hinihintay pala nila ang isa't-isa bakit sila mag-iiwasan? I still really don't get this part on why would they have to wait a DECADE for each other. It can be iconic for others but not for me since it doesn't really makes sense. But if the author added some things or drama on why it took 10 years for them, the story would have a plot twist and it'll make more sense. They wasted 10 years/a decade just to what? Find the write timing to apologize? :/
How would I summarize the story? 1/5
-Their friend Sam was wasted and went to Kalix' table to uhmm idk. Nilapitan ni Luna si Sam then nagkita sila ni Kalix. They casually talked. Sam invited Kalix' group in her condo. Once again, Luna and Kalix talked, flirted. A little misunderstanding bcs of Kalix' friend Amethyst so Luna decided to go to a club, get drunk, then she kissed a random guy. Kalix saw so he went out the club. Luna being manhid talked to Kalix and asked "Kamusta ka na?". And then bati na sila next chapter. Puro fillers muna. Tapos nanligaw si Kalix, pumunta sa Tagaytay, etc, Luna & moon, official na sila, bakasyon sa New York, seggs, meet the family, fillers ulit, naospital si Kierra, nakita ni Luna yung pic ni Kalix at Ame, break up, timeskip, nagkita ulit sa work, galit-galitan muna sa isa't-isa, worked together, pinag-usapan yung misunderstanding 10 years ago, nagbati, seggs, fillers, pregnant Luna, meet the family ulit, engagement, POV ni Kalix, "With her, I have the moon and the stars, I could never ask for more", end.
(its been quite a while since I read the story so baka may mali sa ibang timeline, but kahit bali-baliktad yan, I think nothing would change about the story since most scenes ay parang fillers lang)
Suggestions?
-Some scenes are unnecessary and too much fillers makes the story BORING.
-Make the characters less cringe. And if you are going to right flawed charcters, you should know how to justify them well.
-Tell your readers through the story that do not settle for the bare minimum. Rich and looks aren't everything. It shouldn't be the "standard". They shouldn't be praised that much for doing the bare minimum.
-Plan your story well and MAKE A PLOT TWIST for it to be interesting.
Rating: 1/5 could be 2/5 if Luna wasn't so immature and Kalix is not plain. So yeah, 1/5.

I was hoping that The Rain in España would not disappoint since it is my first Wattpad book, AND IT DID NOT OHMYGAS. I am so happy that I continued reading despite the prejudice I have on Wattpad!
After almost a year of reading books, I felt a new sense of excitement when I read The Rain in España. It made me feel like I was just talking to a close friend of mine because of how similar the inner dialogues are AHHA. I was also excited to read this because my Tagalog was suffering from the imbalance of English and Tagalog books I was reading. I also can't count how many times I laughed out loud and screamed because of how cute they were. I FELT SECOND-HAND BUTTERFLIES BECAUSE OF KALIX. This book has most of the tropes that I love. One of my favorite reads this year 🤎.
This series makes me look forward to college because of the iconic places, terms, and inside jokes mentioned here!
Let me start with Luna. I found her REALLY annoying during the first part. I salute her straightforwardness, but I would sometimes get second-hand embarrassment from her actions 😩. Nevertheless, I still look up to her because she knew her worth (despite her doubting it after THE event). She chose to see the real and harsh side of the situation and immediately went with the decision that would benefit her and Kalix the most even if she knew the pros and cons.
KALIX! OHMYGAS. I can't. I love him so much. He is the standard 😌. I am so going to reread this because of him. I CAN'T EXPRESS HERE HOW MUCH I LOVE HIM.
One of the factors that I look for in a good book is how lovable the side characters are. I LOVE Adonis and Leo's banters. And this book had so many of them! They felt real as if they were my friends too. I also love Luna's friend group. I would never have a dull moment if I were part of these friend groups, which makes me excited to read the other books in this series.
Special mention to Gabby for helping me navigate Wattpad because I have no idea how to use it until now. Also, thank you for convincing me to read this AHHA.
LuKal is home! 🌌🌃🌙 This is one of the first Filipino Wattpad stories that I thoroughly enjoyed and what really got me addicted to reading from the app again. I've been waiting for this to be published since last year and now it's finally here! I couldn't be any happier 💛 These characters feel so real to me; their bond and their friendship is something that I rarely encounter in books, the kind that would make you root for all of them. Every character is distinct and stand out in every scene; no one gets left behind, no one's forgotten. They're the type of characters na tipong ang sarap tropahin at jowain. Gwy created such unforgettable stories, such well-developed characters. And the fact that she wrote this when she was 18/19! Mannnn..what have I been doing with my life. 😭 But I digress.
I don't wanna be too dramatic on main but I love them like family, so even though the stories in the series aren't perfect, I'd still give all of them all the stars in the universe because they're perfect for me 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I can never be critical when it comes to books that manage to reel me in so completely from begining 'till the end, which is what every book in this series was able to do.
AAAHHH I can't wait for the rest to be published as well, especially Safe Skies since that's my favorite. I'M SO OBSESSED. Maybe it's time for a reread 🌙
> It was super fast paced and confusing kasi walang mga heads up if there’s a time skip, bigla nalang mag-iiba yung dates.
> It was cute-ish and nakakakilig. There were a lot of parts na kililigin ka talaga or mapapangiti.
> I won’t give any spoilers na pero I have to say medyo na disappoint ako. Akala ko it was one of those “omg woah ang ganda” type of books pero it was.. somewhere in the middle lang naman. Nothing special really, nakakakiling lang siya.
> I like Kalix’s words and techniques pero, seriously, the guy is super confusing. Sassy, romatic (in some ways), supportive, caring, ‘I hate everyone but you type’, intelligent, thoughful, but an idiot at the same time.
Meanwhile Luna- Luna is, well, I didn’t exactly ‘love’ her character kasi she was assuming, pa-cute, malandi (even if it’s just playful flirting), impatient, and yung pinaka nakakaasar is ang tanga niya pagdating kay Kalix. For a college student, I guess ok naman siya, she’s super determined and hard working.
> Despite the negatives, I found some parts and the ending and very sweet so I’ll still give it a four
Overall I would still -kind of- recommend this book if you want a quick read. Mind that there are a few deep Tagalog words and street terms in the story
re-reading this in 2022 brought back so many memories for me, and I loved every minute of it. In comparison to other works I've read, the plot seemed bland. this story is realistic in my opinion because it was inspired by the author's personal experience, hence why I think why it inflicted so much emotion to the readers (like me). although, the plot didnt have so much stuff going on, i think Gwy focused more on the story being realistic than putting so much plot into it. nevertheless i still enjoyed it bcz its been a while since ive read off from wattpad 😋
This is my first time reading a Filipino Wattpad story with a really bad English translation. But I really did enjoy it. I saw the live action drama before reading and absolutely loved it so much. And I read the whole book in just a few hours despite having a huge slump for almost a year.
Kalix and Luna are just so everything. Like their story was so cute, wholesome and also heartbreak. I just love them so much. Even tho the book is a bit different than the show, it really was good. I love how they serve second chance romance with he fell first and harder trope n mutual pining so well.
Ofc just like everything else, it has its flaws. But despite that, I really did like this book so much. And I'm sure they r going to giving me brain rot for months to come. 🤷🏽♀️
Tagal ko na 'tong nabasa and I'm not planning to rr it. But here's my review.
I understand the hype since it's good for begginers but I couldn't understand how over hype this story is. Your reader is literally everywhere telling everyone that this series is the standard, like WHERE??? Saan banda???
Kalix the standard??? Ganon ba ang gusto niyo, parang gago na tatanungin ng maayos tapos sasagot ng law terminologies? Trying hard na mag mukang matalino??? Napaka boring. Clinge. Over hype. Over all zero star.
Then Luna. She's annoying as fuck. Yung jokes makikita mo lang sa fb. It's funny but where's the originality? And I get it. May iba't iba tayong sense of humor but hers—istg
Kinakausap mo ng maayos tapos sasabihin "Let's watch porn!"Jusko lord big turn off. Well parehas naman sila, nakaka turn off. Bagay nga.
Then the plot??? There's nothing to highlight here. Literally. The only lesson is "Listen to your partner because there's always a reason" It's freaking common sense.
50 50 to na maiaapply sa real life. Just imagine you saw your partner kissing other girl, kung mataas alteprasyon mo hinding hindi mo talaga pakikinggan yung boyfriend mo.
Same circle lang kayo tapos inabot kayo ng 10 years? Proof na hindi ganon ka lalim pag mamahal niyo sa isat isa. Sa 10 years na yon wala talagang nag pursue sa relasyon niyo???? Edi sobrang babaw ng nararamdaman nila sa isat isa. Alam kong meron silang pinoproblema that time about their studies pero IMPOSIBLE namang sa loob ng ten years na yon wala silang free time para ipursue ang isat isa.
Then hindi ko magets bakit galit na galit itong si Luna nung after 10 years e imposible naman na sa loob ng 10 years hindi talaga kayo nag kita. Jusko except nalang kung nag ibang bansa isa sa inyo. Over all, 10 years is unrealistic.
Then after 10 years, jusko lord walang pinag bago. Walang character development. Nakikita ko parin si Luna as her young self. Annoying parin. Tapos si Kalix boring parin.
The story didn't even give us glimpse of what happen sa loob ng ten years. Direct narration lang talaga.

The story of The Rain in Espana is very inspiring. People who are interested in real-life stories should check out this book.
I like the distinct characteristics of every character and the way the story flows. My imagination sometimes makes me believe I'm a part of the story. The journey is one of self-discovery, in which failure acts as a valuable lesson. Despite being fictional, this story can help you understand what real-life situations are.
Nevertheless, there are scenes in the story that are inappropriate for kids under 18, so it is advisable that you obtain your parent's or guardian's permission before reading.
“i can’t imagine myself enjoying this life with anyone else but luna. with her, i have the moon.. and the stars. i could never ask for more.”
3.5 stars*
cant imagine myself reading another wattpad book after all this time but here i am lmaooo my friends held me at gunpoint and so i read it and uhh i enjoyed it much more than i thought i would and much more than i want to admit lol
even though it was predictable and considerably cliche bc ofc its wattpad i still found myself smiling and crying while reading it and EWAN KO GAGO NAKAKAKILIG SI KALIX HUHU luv u atty 🥺
The plot is plain but it's still good. The form of writing is very modern that's why it hooks the teens (especially the wattpad readers) but maybe hindi lang yata ako sanay na ganyan. Nonetheless, it's cute. Kaso nga lang masyadong mabilis.
It's a nice story, but since it's a fast burn book, maybe the author should put emphasis and feels on every scenes more. Not just by the dialog, but also by the mood the author wishes to create.
It's a nice read though. Funny, kilig, but maybe the book version is nicer. Idk. Still, great job!
This book will forever remain memorable to me because it was the book that got me back into reading. I have spent countless nights laughing and shedding tears just reading their story. The fl gave me a TON of secondhand embarrassment and made me laugh a lot because of her personality. The ml on the other hand, is a pretty nonchalant guy and his lack of communication ultimately led to their breakup (all main couples in the university series have breakups, one way or another) though, I loved the way he still cared about her and exacted revenge on her behalf. For me, the ending was perfect as it was not lacking or too much. Ml and fl are the perfect examples of grumpy x sunshine characters.

The story has a predictable plot, yes. But I still enjoyed it because of the characters (Yes, I am character driven.) Even though this is not my first time reading this book, the reading experience was still fun. (expect for the miscommunication part)
✧.*ROMANCE: 80% Without spoiling, I can say that it's somehow okay. If you're a fan of fast burn, fast-paced romance books, then this is the book for you.
✧.*WRITING:86% I love how the author put actual universities instead of made-up ones. It actually helped me decide on what college I'd like to attend in the future. The writing style is fine. It's easy to understand if you speak Filipino and English.
Final thoughts:
I suggest you guys not to read the comments on Wattpad if you hate spoilers because "#rr" people are annoying af. They keep on spoiling and it'll ruin the experience for new readers.
The dialogue was fairly realistic especially when they were flirting. The main conflict would’ve been resolved if they had taken time to communicate and listen to each other, this was frustrating to read and not in a good way because when they finally reunited it was just ok, just a little more for if to be satisfying. Also Luna getting pregnant at the end was a bit random in my opinion.

i'm not a fan of wattpad stories in the first place so maybe i'm biased but the plot and narration are so dry i'm sorry maybe the author really would do better at twitter seryes
Hellooooooo Goodreads I haven't opened this account in almost a year?? lol but I just finished this and I knew I had to add this book here because it's super good
I don't really read stories narrated in Filipino, but I've seen a lot of Gwy on Twitter because I just LOOOOVE her seryes. So when TRIE was finally completed, I went ahead and read the book on Wattpad. And there are no regrets!
I super super supeeeer love Kalix and Luna. From the very first chapters, I was already sold.
It's both amusing and surprising at how straightforward Luna was when it comes to Kalix. I loved her jokes, and I was excited to see how things would go when Kalix falls for her. I already spoiled myself when it comes to the parts during the present time, but I was still surprised at how Kalix and Luna's story unraveled.
I get soooo hurt when there are time jumps, and this was no different. Plus add in the fact that it was a ten-year time jump? And they were both still very much in love with each other during that time? MAAAAN. Thinking about it, and how it's possible that even more time could have passed without them seeing each other PAINS me so much. But at the same time I also knew that Kalix wanted her back, and I'm so happy Kalix has Adonis who did so much to get them back together hahaha
I love their friends. I was initially annoyed at Amy, but during the present time I loved her because she was so supportive of Kalix, and their friendship with Adi and Leo is the best.
I also loved Luna's friends Sevi, Kierra, Sam, Yanna, and Via because of how supportive they are of LuKal! Everyone basically wants Kalix and Luna together, and I'm glad that even Kalix's siblings, dad, and Luna's mom, and eventually Kalix's mom and Luna's dad approved of their marriage, too.
I cried a lot when Luna found out she was pregnant, then when she told her Mom, and eventually when Kalix found out and when he proposed to her. I just love them so much I really felt like I was part of the relationship huhuhu
It's so amazing if you think about their entire story, so this is really one of those stories that really get you, that really draw you in and make you feel like you were there for the whole ride. You'll feel every happiness, every pain, and every rollercoaster this will take you on.
Gwy really has a great talent in writing and I can't wait till the next books, and I'd be one of the happiest people if this gets published like her other works, too!

The story is just so common. I am very sorry to say this but I think the writer really don't know how to write. Maybe writing is just her hobby because can't see the talent or idk so she need to improve. The plot, the scenes are common. She used the real university which is so wrong because her younger readers are faking their identity so they can had an atenean bf or gf and I know that because my brother's friend is one of their victims.hayst. The conflict is common. The lines are I think I little bit cringe. She really needs to improve.
Ps. If I had some typos or grammatical errors then I'm sorry I didn't read it before posting because I'm in hurry.
To the author,
Please improve. Your writing is sucks. You had a lot of grammatical error I don't know if it is just a typo or whatever or you are just suck when it comes it english. Your lines are so cringe obviously it is from facebook. Dyk? That they can sue you for that? Oh I forgot! The genre! It has a bed scenes but the genre is teen fiction? Are you fucking serious? Thw "I'll be gentle" line is from Cecelib right? So why your readers keep saying that it is from you? That you are the one who invented it? Tss. Reading her story is such a waste of time. Ewwww.
This doesn’t even deserve a star for being boring and cliché. And this is why I quit Wattpad and went to kindle instead cause damn I can’t stand the writing won’t even list down what I hated cause everyone else did already that’ll be too predictable like the story plot of this book. One I’ll say is that this was torture to read compared to Jonaxx’s books. It’s a good thing I’ve read this now and not when I was a teenager cause my God how stupid this book is and makes the readers look dumb by finishing this trash lol. The grammatical errors and informal words such as curses I’m honestly fine with a few curses but over n over like how Luna kept cursing nonstop like gurl SHUT UP! She’s also a fcking bitch and I wanted to throw her at the trashcan cause she has no space for a good female role other than cursing. Kalix is cringe worthy damn and the good thing I that i like about him is that he’s silent cause God knows how I wanna throw this man out of the window hellooo? Talk about typical no brainer type of character and the whole story is a complete trash i just skipped through the stupid dialogues from both characters. Am I the bad guy here? Naaah you guys just have poor comprehension skills for tolerating trashy books.
