Told from the point of view of Mira's trusty cat, Arnold, this short story is about the trials and tribulations of being a cat-dad to three rambunctious kittens during the Christmas holiday. Even more challenging, Arnold's rivals arrive with Mira's sister Darla, on Christmas Eve. The twin cats are psychic and forcing Arnold to use every ounce of patience to be a good cat for Christmas. To make matters worse his kittens go missing and he must partner with Darla's twin menaces to save them. Quickly things go sideways, the tree is toppled, Santa's cookies spill to the floor. Is there enough Christmas magic to fix this year's Christmas Kitten Chaos?
Julia spent her early childhood in a small town in Pennsylvania very similar to Pleasant Pond. Her house, also an old Victorian which her dad renovated, was indeed haunted.
This was a fun and very entertaining Christmas story. Arnold is Mira’s cat and the father of kittens Charlie, Lucy and Sylvie. They live with Ozzy the dog, Taco the bird and some fish. Arnold is trying to be a good dad when a special guest comes for Christmas, bringing her twin cats, X and O. Arnold, X and O do not get along. When the kittens get lost though Arnold needs their help. Will they find the kittens safe and sound? This is a cozy mystery that is told from Arnold’s point of view. It is a charming Christmas story that cat lovers will thoroughly enjoy. I have a dog but have had cats in the past. I was laughing all the way remembering Christmases past and the antics of cats. They do love Christmas trees don’t they? If you need something lighthearted to read with a Christmas theme, don’t pass this up! Now I need to read the rest of this fun series.
*I received an electronic copy of this book through book funnel. It was the first book by this author that I have read. My review is based entirely upon my enjoyment while reading it.*
I’m thoroughly enjoying Arnold’s point of view. X and O are definitely Siamese if you don’t please. It’s fun reading the mischief the kittens get into.
Arnold isn't happy. While he loves Mira's sister Darla, he hates her Siamese cats, X and O. They make his life miserable, and he isn't going to stand for it. He has enough trouble as it is keeping tabs on his three kittens. But when the kittens go missing and Arnold is afraid they're outside - somewhere he never goes - he has to ask the help of the twins to find them. But even that isn't without a price. Will Arnold find his kittens before Christmas? Or will the twins find a way to get rid of Arnold?...
This short story is another delight from the pen of Julia Koty. I love Arnold and the fact that he's very self-efficient, thank-you-very-much. It takes all that he has to keep his calm while the twins are baiting him constantly with veiled threats. So when his kittens go missing and he's afraid they've gotten outside, the twins hint that this is the case, but offer to help him if he'll give them something in return. Something, in his mind, vile. But he's willing to do anything to save his kittens.
Along with this, there are the fights of the three, with Arnold showing his superiority in his own home, which only causes chaos and disaster, toppling of the tree, and when Santa's cookies spill, the twins insist that he won't come and Christmas is ruined. Will Santa come? More importantly, will Arnold's kittens be found?...
I loved this story and all that it entails, including the spirit of Christmas. This is a perfect short story for anyone, but children would especially love it, as it shows what the true meaning of the holiday can and should be. Putting aside differences and working together, magic can be created. The ending leaves you feeling wonderful, and looking forward to seeing more of Arnold and his kittens. Highly recommended.

My Review: This is a magical festive story! I was hooked from the start and I enjoyed the book throughout. This story is entertaining, funny and brilliantly written. Arnold (protagonist) is a loveable character with a cheeky believable cat personality. I love how Arnold and his human can speak to each other. Arnold's kittens are gorgeous and the ending of this book is adorable.
I could not always tell who was speaking in the narrative.
A very enjoyable read and I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys similar genres. I am looking forward to reading the author's full series.

The turkey is in the oven, and Mira Michaels is busy with the last preparations before her sister Darla and her cats arrive for Christmas. What a busy time for Mira’s cat, Arnold. As if he doesn’t have enough to do instructing his son Charlie and daughters Sylvie and Lucy in preparation for their 1st Christmas with a tree and decorations. But Arnold also needs the kittens’ help safeguarding his favorite toy and the menace of the cat twins, X and O.
Cozy mystery fun for the holiday season! Arnold’s description of the vacuum cleaner is priceless, and the questions the kittens ask their Dad never fail to bring a smile.
The sweet and whimsical short story can be read as a stand-alone, but if you haven’t already started the series, I suggest adding it to your tbr list so you can enjoy every book. They’re all purring with charm!
"Christmas Kitten Chaos (Mira Michael's Mystery #5.5)" by Julia Koty is a super quick super cozy mystery. Arnold the cat is forced to co-habit with his least favor cats for Christmas while trying to supervise his kittens. I have to say, for supposedly having two humans in the house that could understand the cats (according to Arnold) they sure seemed to act like they didn't. Also, why did they insist on letting the cats free roam unsupervised of they knew they didn't get along? If the visiting cats had to come keep them in one part of the house and the other cats in a different part of the house.
In the end, the magic of Christmas fixed everything. Again, super cozy mystery. No one was harmed other than some Christmas decorations and cat toys.
This is the first time I've ever read a story from a cat's perspective. It is fun, entertaining, and has a few twists and turns that definitely keep the reader's interest. There are numerous phrases that are so "cat-like". I can just hear a cat talking about general household items and people the way Arnold does in the story. It's easy to visualize the cats and/or kittens doing the activities and mischief the way these characters do in the story. The author is great with character descriptions about people and cats. She definitely has a winning story with her understanding of cat behavior! Great fun and good laughter.
It's Christmas and Darla is coming to visit Mira and Arnold. While Arnold is anxious to get some Darla quality scratches, he hates her Siamese twin cats X and O. On top of everything else, he is trying to be a good kitty dad to his three kittens. When X and O arrive, all they do is torment Arnold!
A fun Christmas story from the cat's viewpoint. But Christmas is magical for them, and this year is no exception. This festive story is short enough to read when you don't really have time for a several hundred page book. A nice holiday story!
Arnold toils as a Cat-dad to three rambunctious kittens. Add in two twin Siamese visitors, more humans and a Christmas tree - it's enough to drive a cat to distraction. And will he ever manage to get his fur clean?
Normally I'm none too fond of stories told from an animal's point of view but poor Arnold really does pull at your heartstrings! This spirited tail tale is completely fun and a great read for any cat lover who's survived the holiday season with a furry friend.
A cute little story of Christmas from a different point of view. That of the animals of the house! Mostly that of the cats, Arnold & his Kittens, & their guests, X & O! X & O are Arnold's sworn enemies, but belong to one of his favorite humans! The messes they get into! Besides this, the Kittens are lost! After many misadventures, & a bit of help from Santa, they become friends! Or do they???
This was funny, being told a cats perspective... I think the part that had me chuckling the most was the vacuum cleaner... "I'm not going near the vacuum." Lol... I have two kittens and when I turn on the vacuum they skedaddle... I could imagine them saying the exact same thing...
What a fantastic story. Quick read yet full of fun, adventures, and the opinion of cat dad on top of it all plus two visiting cats which don't get along with the cat dad. Loads of laughter and twists and turns. At the end all are getting along because they helped Santa put the gifts under the tree. Team work wins in the end.
Mira has invited Dara, her sister, and several others for Christmas. Told from the cat’s perspective, it is unfortunate that Dara also brought her cats who love to torture him. When his kittens disappear, he gets into misadventures and trouble trying to find them and keep them safe. Then a friendly visitor saves the day.
Omg! I love this book. I'm a cat lover and I remember well the chaos that ensued when my little guy was a cute tiny kitten. This book had me laughing from start to finish. Even if you don't love kittens (who can't love kittens?) you will enjoy this book. Great job Julia! Thank you.
This is a funny (haha type) book, mayhem as Arnold’s kitten wreck havoc around the house. He is not a good parent as he’s hopeless coping with them! Added to his troubles is that two visiting cats make things even worse.
A fun short Christmas story told from Arnold the cat's point of view. Christmas guests, missing kittens, and old rivalries all play a part in this quick and enjoyable story. Part of an entertaining series. I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily offering this review.
This short story was written from the cat's point of view. As a cat owner (or servant) it was very realistic! Just how a cat would think and act. Very funny! A great read!
A completely charming and endearing novella. I chose it to read during the holiday season and totally adore it. I will pursue reading the other novellas in this series. Highly recommend. Happy Holidays!
The story of Arnold & his kittens was just like a human story, but from the cat's view. Their belief& love for Christmas was so lifelike. It was great about the lessons they learned. The fun & antics they had kept you laughing.
Was a great short book. This is t he 1st one I have read but I definitely will go back and read the rest..I can just see the kittys get in troble...I have 3.
Cat cozy told from the cat's point of view. Cute, humorous, and quick read. No murder, and it was a clean cozy. I enjoyed it except for the formatting. I recommend it.
