The Coast of Avester. Enemies are everywhere—even the land itself is a foe. Here, letting down your guard is not an option.
A serial killer is at large in Laveri. A nobleman, he moves in the same circles as Miri and might be even talking to her. But when Anthory, Baron Lofrayne, also shows up in the capital of Ativerna, Lilian has to admit—she hates him much more than she might ever hate the killer. In the end, she is kidnapped, her carriage stopped on the way to Castle Taral, her guards killed, and the countess herself locked on a ship headed for Avester.
How does one escape a vessel on the high seas, really? You have to move, crawl on all fours, sail with every wind, use any chance you might get...and then, sooner or later, life will offer you its hand. And when it happens, go for it.
When the ship is attacked by pirates, Lilian, helped by a chance acquaintance hoping to get his own revenge on her, manages to escape in a rowboat and reach the shore. Alas, she is accompanied by the accursed Baron. Lofrayne is a far cry from a Prince Charming as which he seems to fancy himself—but then, Lily's no a damsel in distress, either. It's not like she would want his or anyone's rescue, anyway. It's time to take her destiny into her own hands.
Call it inspiration, the voice of a Muse, or plain obsession… Lina J. Potter has been dreaming up stories for as long as she can remember. She has a light-hearted approach to writing. Whenever she is not writing, you can find her practicing karate and lace-making. Nowadays, she lives in the quite town of Tambov with her husband, daughter and two cats.
I can't get enough of this series! I have to say this book started out well, lily escapes the ship and is now stuck with her kidnapper. The reason i gave the book 2 stars is how the next scenario played out. She knows she needs to be careful because she is pregnant and she probably won't survive those woods alone if she has to defend herself against animals. So i completely understand the reason she doesnt kill the baron and go off on her own, here's where i wanted to put the damn book down and stop reading. A rabid wolf attacks and after she stabs it and he finishes it off she has to have sex with the baron? Um what? Literally like 5 books she and her husband have reconciled, survived another coup in a different country and even had a baby together. She couldn't live without him an all of a sudden she survives a wolf attack and has to sleep with the man that abducted her? And then shes debating continuing the affair? She was contemplating killing him like a chapter before to get her revenge for even putting her in that situation. And then the kicker they get attacked by bandits as they are coming out of the woods and she kills like 8 of them and she says he sacrificed himself for her so she has to lie and tell him the baby is his? Come on, screw that mess. Ridiculous. Then the next half of the book she keeps talking to her belly like we are going to go home to your dad. Are you going to confess and tell him u slept around on him when u had no reason? Hes losing his mind back in ativerna and keeping it in his pants but you screw him over with the guy you both hated that kidnapped you? The rest of her story i enjoyed, but the serial killer in ativerna story plot i find pointless. I didnt particularly care for they way princess Jolies character was written after they made her seem like the more innocent and nicer sister. Now the girl is a mess and shes involved in the whole serial killer deal. Not interested.

I love this series. I love it so much, I can look past the inconsistencies and whatever else little flaws I might notice. The only thing I hate is waiting for the books. If the author would write a new book each month, I would continue to read it forever because I love the MC, the world, and how kickass and methodical the MC is. Even though she is in a world she can't control, she still manages to fend for herself (and others) and really shows how amazing she is even if she is using 21st-century knowledge in a medieval world. Though I really do wonder what happened to the monkey and falcon, from the books that I think the author was going to end the series with but then changed her mind. Those inconsistencies and kind of buried details that you have to dig for the kind of bother me, but I still love the story and her writing style. And I really hope they make the rest of the series into audiobooks. I really want this series to continue even though I know it's not like a crime show where they can make all sorts of new storylines and etc. Still, I will read this series until the last book, and all I hope is that the author wraps up the series in a way the characters and MC deserve. However, I still don't understand how she had Lily and Tony hook up, though I can see the possibilities it could impact later; I could get adrenaline to get them to make out or something but full-on sex? No, I don't see it. She loves her family and he kidnapped her, even if he did show he was a decentish guy in the end. Anywho, December can't come soon enough.
On one hand I hate books ending in somewhat of a cliffhanger fashion on the other hand for this series I always can’t wait to get to the next book. Now the last book definitely ended in a cliffhanger this one wraps up nicely but you know there is more to come. As far as how I felt about the book I mean it’s more of a great story. There are plot points where I wish the author had done something else but that’s not my choice that’s hers. It’s still tells a great story I just wish certain events had gone different ways. We are introduced to new characters in this book I got to see other characters grow or at least how they have matured now that they’ve gotten a little older I think that was good to see. I don’t think the story focused a little bit too much on the first half or ark of this book. Sure it helped develop the narrative but I think it just lasted a tad bit too long in the forest. It’s not bad but I think it was just long. It’s not that the first half of the book roughly was bad or anything it’s just at the back half was much better. It’s like having one the score a 9 in the other in the score a 12. A great book still but it’s just part of the book was better than the other. I can’t wait till the next book in the series hopefully it’ll wrap up this arc all together and I hope the story continues. I also hope the author might focus on other women I mean I know the stories about Lillian being a strong woman in the middle ages but I would love to see some of the women around her develop a little bit of backbone. Sadly we lost one just as we were introduced to her. I would like to see other strong women or at least see Lillian help develop more strong women.
Ok... Although I love this series and this book was a great continuation of the series I have to say I really found the 1 sex scene in this book to be complete bullshit. I mean really! Seriously! A rabid wolf attack and hyped-up emotions plus pregnancy does not excuse boinking the villainous kidnapper. I mean honestly, she loves her husband and is like yea I love him he is all I need yet is fine with the fling. I wonder how the author is going to have the MC address that later in the series. Also, who is the serial killer already? Why all the suspense? Is it the king's sister and her husband or is it someone else?
I love this series, despite its flaws, nay because of them! I have burned through this because I love portal world stories and I like seeing Alina problem solve and Russian Mary Poppins her way through things. Even if it's fairly unrealistic- it follows its internal logic. How realistic is it to trip into another universe anyway? lol The only niggle I had with this entry was that the author included her authors notes within the text. I liked the notes- but I feel like they should be included at the end of the book and not within them. Pre ordered the next book. I can't see how this will end and I don't want it to end but it should lol.
Lily escapes the ship her kidnappers used to spirit her away. However, she ends up paired with Baron Tony, her kidnapper. She calculates that she and her unborn child have a better chance of survival by traveling with him even though he still plans to deliver her to his King. She must travel through forest to civilization, find a way of making money, find a way of getting home. Lily is a well developed, competent, compelling, yet vulnerable character. I like the action, humor, intrigue, and ingenuity. I look forward to the next book.
I love everything about this series, except that it may end with book 11. From the very first, I have been invested in the mazing story of Lilian Earton. I have re-read the series repeatedly, enjoying it each time. If you enjoy independent women instead of damsels, fluid storylines with intrigue, whimsy, a full bodied characters, this series is for you.
I adore thus series, book 11 cannot arrive soon enough. Time for Lily to invent wonton soup, fry those dumplings into pot stickers. Introduce chop sticks. Please turn these books into Audible , please!!
I really enjoyed the book and can’t wait for the next one, I would like to see Jess sweat a little more about his wife being missing, a short lived histrionic would have been good, but that’s just me.
I have saved this book to read on a day when no one would need lunch, another coffee or anything else that would interrupt me. Such a resilient woman. If you haven't read the previous books start with the first one. Lillian is an example for us all.
This story is addictive . the heroin is always up to something .. Okay , the time and body didn't start out as yours , But you have made it yours and added a hidden strength . I can't wait to see what happens when she is found by her very big worried friends .
I absolutely loved this book. Sad about the death of LoFrayne. I started out hating him but after he saved Lilly from the attack of that bandit and he confessed that he loved her (sincerely) and wanted to ask her to marry him, then died, I cried.
I did enjoy this book. Last one was a bit slow moving in my opinion, as were some parts of this one. But overall this book kept my attention focused and even laughing and snickering at some of the events at the end.
I like this series and hate when each book ends. Lily is strong and smart. Some of her adventures are unreal but I like the way she handles everything. Very incentive.
