Stranded. Hunted. Tempted.

When Jake and I jumped into Talon, I intended to come right back. That was before I learned what King Bryant does to humans he kidnaps here—and that to stop him, I must become prey myself.

Now Cassis and I must go undercover as human slaves into the mines. Except something about the vampire is different here in Talon. He’s darker, more violent… more bloodthirsty. And he wants nothing to do with me. Not even when we’re trapped in the same underground cell, not even when the heat between us spirals out of control, making me hungry for things I never even imagined.

Yet what Cassis or I want might not matter. We aren’t alone in our hunt. Bryant has opened another portal to a world called Lunos and we may run out of time before learning whether it’s friends or foes who are coming through.

LAST CHANCE WORLD is a full-length dark reverse-harem paranormal romance. This is the fourth and last book in IMMORTALS OF TALONSWOOD, a series from Amazon’s top-100 author Alex Lidell. With hot shifter-fae, delicious vampires, and one lone witch, Talonswood isn’t your normal reform school.

Final book.
Best one yet.
The plot was much more captivating. It had a lot more impact, and was actually allowed to unfold.
Cassis was great. I absolutely loved how his senses heightening in Talkn. How deep his emotions toward Sam felt.

This last book was pretty awesome! I can't tell you the FULL reason why because....spoilers....but I will tell you that I was VERY happy to return to this world after that last cliffhanger ending! I really enjoyed this series and I can't wait to read more about what I believe is coming. This world was very satisfying and I loved the character arcs. This book wrapped everything up nicely and I wanted to read more. If Alex Lidell ever decides to write more, I will so read it and if she ever decides to maybe expand on this word, I will read it!

Overall: 5/5!

... ok. I was not expecting all the freaking emotions. Let me first say that Cassis has been my fave out of all Sam’s guys since book 1 so i was LOVING the fact that most the POV’s are his. He was delightful. Broken and tired and so so lonely and the inner turmoil he felt while fighting his need and love for Sam was so angsty and perfect. It made this book even that much better.

The story-line was super interesting. I love that we got to see inside Talon and all the fae goodness. I love that Sam stayed true to herself the entire time she was there and continued to fight for herself and her men.

Wanna know what I loved the most? THE FACT THAT THERE WAS A FREAKING POWER OF 5 CROSSOVER. Soooo.. I wont go into detail because I dont want to spoil it but we get to see old AND new characters from Power of 5 and I am not kidding you when I said I squealed in delight when I realized who was on the page. SQUEALED. Like... woke my 4 year old up because I was so excited about it.

So if anything- you have to read the book for that alone 😂

As far as the ending goes, I was super impressed with it. I felt like it was all tied up very well, and wasnt rushed. I was worried it would be once we got to the final 15% of the book but the way Ms. Lidell wrote the ending was absolute perfection. As per usual.

I can’t wait to read more of her books and am super sad to be leaving Talon and Talonswood Academy and all the amazing characters. 5 stars.. no contest one of my fave of all her books.

Okay so I finished the book, and I have to wonder, is there going to be a new spin-off series? I mean look at how many different branches they could go. There's the baby, duh. Then there's coal and his children. Then there is the King's retaliation. There is the councils reaction. There are so many different branches that has been off to take.

And of course there's all the babies that are going to come out of all of this research.

Someone out there, please tell me, is there going to be another series? Spinoff.

I didn't like the ending. I wanted to see what happens. I want to see this child. I wanted to meet the child, no his origins, no what's going to happen in the future.

I am 100% positive at all Alex fans really want to know what happens next.

As much as I absolutely love the series. All three of them. I'm kind of left unsatisfied with the ending. It's not going to take off any stars, I'm just I don't know, I don't like cliffhangers when series are supposedly ending.

I guess I can try to cross my fingers and hope that we will see what happens next. And what kind of child comes up their union. And what children come next from other vampires and faith and witches. But we shall see. I hope.

I loved this series, it deserves a 5 star rating. I only gave it a 4 because I wanted to know more at the end. I hope there is a spinoff to see what happens with their lives. We have suspense, mystery, drama, action and love. When Same and her horsemen decide to take action into there own hands, Sam jumps in and now her life and others are at risk. Will they get away from Victor? Will they find out why Bryant is taking humans? Will they save the humans? Who are these other characters in the story now? We never did find out if that worked out, but we can always hope it did. So follow along and see what happens. Please, Please answer all the questions with a sequel.

The best book of the series!! I loved so many things about this book and it was SO nice seeing a crossover to the Power of Five series🥰. I felt it was a very well wrapped up ending to the series and I absolutely loved getting to see more chapters written from Cassis' POV as he's my favourite😍. Alex is one of my favourite authors since discovering her Power of Five series (totally check it out if you haven't already!!) and falling in love with her writing style and the worlds/characters she creates🥺. I know Alex has said she won't write anymore for the Power of Five series but PLEASE can we have a spin off or novella of the twins life as they grew up or the adventures they are on now?! I feel like that book would just complete everything. If I could give this more than 5 stars I sure as hell would! 🖤

Whole series rating: 3.25-3.5

I am really conflicted about this series. It feels like a four-novella fanfic of Heir of Fire by SJM, where each male plays Rowan and Devinee is Celaena. Except where I could understand Rowan’s methods in HoF, Ellis/Asher/Reese/Cassis’s was confusing as heck. They were all so wishy washy and honestly just bullies for no reason sometimes. Devinee first comes across as not a pushover, but she never sticks up for hrs or verbally, even if she does physically. She should have lost her shiz at these guys multiple times for how they treated her but rolled over instead. It’s hard because I did mostly like the books, it was just way too much like Heir of Fire to be any kind of reread for me.

RH/Supernaturals/Enemies to Lovers

SYNOPSIS (of 4 Book Series): FC discovers she is a witch and not a mortal and is forced to attend Talonswood Academy, a boot camp school for supernaturals and demis (not full shifters or full vampires). Witches were thought extinct so the FC is wanted by both the Shifters and the Vampires. She discovers that she is connected to the 4 horsemen. 4 very old supernaturals (2 shifters and 2 vampires) who had banded together years ago to try and unite the supernaturals but had be kidnapped and tortured by a witch which resulted in them splitting up and going their own ways. The books cover the development of the relationship between the FC and each of the horsemen as well as the machinations of the Shifter King and Vampire Master to take control of the FC. Book 4 moves on to cover the kidnapping and slavery of humans by the Shifter King with a climax and HEA.

The story is good and the writing is good but the style just didn't do it for me. The author insists on referring to the MCs as "the males" even when the FC it thinking about them and to the FC as "the witch or the female". In addition, when talking from a character's POV the author still writes with a cross between third person and first person. I found this technique to be jarring and resulted in me not feeling any real deep connection between the FC and any of the MCs. How can there be when she's referring to them as the Males when in romantic or close situations? I'm not sure what the purpose of this style was.

The FC is a pretty strong individual and not unlikeable but the MCs, for me, each came across as too closed off and I just didn't see or feel the bond between each of them and the FC.

If you can get over the style then this is OK although pretty superficial when it comes to story and character development and the ending, for me, lacked real closure. I mean, what will King Bryant do now? How does the supernatural world evolve and how does the relationship with the FC and the MCs work if they are all off doing different things?

*I received a free e-book via BookSprout in exchange for my honest review.*

I’ve read this entire series, and I loved the first three so much, but this one... this one didn’t do it for me. It was boring. I felt like I was reading but not absorbing because it wasn’t as good. It felt rushed, things were left off, and the confrontations were quickly handled and left no tension. Missed the mark.

Last Chance World seemed lackluster compared to the previous books in Immortals of Talonswood. Cassius was also much more unlikeable because of his resistance to the mating bond. He should have undergone more of a redemption arc from how he was acting. I honestly expected more from all of Sam's mates.

This is it, Last Chance World is the final book in the Immortals of Talonswood series and it was great, I relished every single second of it. Sam and Jake went through the portal and are in Talon, without her mates. However she isn't alone for long, a few familiar characters make an appearance, and then Cass comes through to investigate what's happened to his missing humans. Sam is always the helping hand goes to investigate but Talon is changing both of them and Bryant's scheme is bigger than they expected, Everyone is gonna have to work together to right wrongs and save the day.

Sam always had confidence in her person but supernaturally she wasn't so sure about her powers, but throughout this series, her confidence in them has grown and in LCW all of Sam's hard work was worth it. Sam has greatly improved her magic and the understanding of her magic, not to mention the bond between her and Kitten is getting stronger, better. Sam is a protector and she isn't the type to give up easily which makes her a very strong and stubborn character. She doesn't let fear stop her, doesn't let the guys dictate what she does. She calls them on their bull but is still there for them.

Each book had a plot of course but it also had a mating. Three of the four horsemen have mated with Sam, now this final book is focused on Sam's relationship with Cass, which I loved by the way. With Ellis and Asher, it was a more aggressive mating and Sam's relationship with them was more like a hate-to-love, Reese was more of a common ground thing but Cass is different. Cass has been there from the beginning, not antagonizing, not enemies or hate-to-love Cass has been Sam's friend from the start and I loved that about their relationship. It was all flirty, fun, friends but it couldn't stay that way, they worked on some deep issues in this one and the chapters from Cass pulled at my emotions, to see how much he cares for Sam, to realize what he's going through, Cass is my favorite horsemen hands down.

The plot was great, most of the series had taken place in Talonswood and the switch to Talon was such a drastic change, I wish I got more of the world besides the little parts I got but to go from an academy setting to another world, where someone like Asher and Elli's father, Bryant, rules is kinda terrifying. I've seen Bryant in action and he's a jerk, no one like him should have any kind of power, things won't end well. The main goals Bryant had, his reason for everything was something I didn't expect, I guess I should have but my brain just skipped over that reasoning. My favorite parts were Sam figuring out and so confident with her magic and the close moments between her and the guys, to see their bond grow stronger.

Last Chance World is the conclusion to Sam's story and I loved every single minute of it. The revelation about the horsemen's past is finally fully realized, Cass works through his issues, a couple of shocking discoveries, Sam learns just how powerful she is and the group comes together in such a cohesive way, they are family and they are forever. While I'm sad to see the series over, Last Chance World was the perfect conclusion to the series. I have a feeling that a spin-off could happen and if it were to, I won't be mad about it. After reading this series I plan on reading Alex's other series, Power of five, and looking into any paranormal romances she might have in the future.

Loved this series, sad to see it end, but goes out with a great open ending
Samantha and Jake land in the middle of nowhere. Kitten quickly follows. When Asher or any of the other males fail to follow, Jake takes off, forcing Sam to follow. They run into two young fae from Lunos, looking for one of their fathers, who disappeared 9 months ago looking for humans who have been kidnapped from their realm.
Asher and Cassis catch up. Cassis, is a very different male than Sam knows. The young fae know were the humans have been taken are. Cassis plans to go undercover in the mine to save them. Sam refuses to be left behind. Cassis has to keep the mate he refuses to bond with safe and recue hundreds of humans.
They find an ally in the kids from Lunos's father, who is working as a Lieutenant in the mines, but not before they inadvertently destroy his means for rescuing the humans. A hasty plan B is formed. It is far more dangerous. King Bryant's mining operation has to be shut down. What he is mining could lead to the enslavement of humanity.
Samantha and Cassis are adversely being affected by the magic in Talon. The fae warrior from Lunos clearly sees the problem and gives Cassis his story with his mate. Cassis trusts him with the reason for his refusal to bond with Sam. The warrior understands. He would destroy worlds to protect his mate, his cubs, his quint, and those who he calls family. Cassis calls for help and Ellis has to boldly invade the camp to help Sam. It is clear that the guard is not going to allow any privacy. Then he has to leave as quickly as he came. He isn't going far.
Plan B doesn't go as planned. The young fae are reunited with their father, and one doesn't want to return home, and has to learn a hard lesson on leadership and war. Sam is depleted the Lunos warrior promises to care for the humans she came to save in his world, while her mates rush to get her back to Talonswood.
King Bryant has caught up with them as Reece meets them on the Talon side of the gate, braking his word to Cassis to stay in Talonswood. The the truth on why Cassis has refused to bond with Sam comes out. Bryant lays out their future and gives the an hour of privacy to come to grips with their new reality. Cassis offers his life, but Sam wants their bond. Sienna spell is complete. Sam learns of her family and the truth of why she targeted the horseman is reveled, and why they had to suffer. Sienna's spell just gave them a loophole to escape from King Bryant.
Last Chance World hit the ground running and doesn't stop. Fast pace, twisted and turns, and steamy. The Lunos tie in was seamless. I could think of only one of Lera's males who would undertake the rescuing of enslaved humans, and I was right. He is still who he always was, but more in a positive way, since having cubs and being mated for more than a decade. Great ending for their adventures for now. A great opening for more from Talonswood and Lunos.

Ah, how bittersweet... I've been looking forward to reading this book, but at the same time it would mean that the series is complete and well... booo!

Worldbuilding:
This book starts immediately where the last one left off and we follow Sam and Jake through the portal into Talon.
A very rich and diverse environment, always with enough details to know where our cast is at and just enjoy the story.

Character development:
This one was aaaaaaaaaaaallll about Sam and Cassis and oh man did he put up a fight, which wasn't easy as Talon's magic enhanced the stirrings of the mating bond. Stubborn bastard!
I do like that the author spent quite an amount on his inner demons so that we as readers would know exactly why he did what he did (even if we don't agree with it).
Sam, on the other hand, gets hot and cold signals which leave her uncertain of anything but the reason she is there and their mission: free the slaves. But Talon's magic and Kitten are leaching her magic, leaving her worn out and feverish if she is too long and too far away from her mates.
While this might have been the Cassis and Sam show, the other males weren't forgotten :)
Oh oh oh and guess who we meet again???? Yeah, I'm so not spoiling that for you, go read the book!

Pacing & Flow:
The pacing is pretty high at the start after which it mellows out a bit (thank god). That said, it never got too slow and kept my attention throughout the whole instalment. Good balance between action and a fair amount of conversation.

The book:
The book was well written, but as I read an advanced readers copy I can't say if there are going to be errors in the final edit. And yes, there is sex described (if that is important to you) and omg it was hot :D
The book is 208 pages, spread over 29 chapters and told from multiple points of view (Sam and Cassis mostly).

Final thoughts:
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and all I can really say is: another great series concluded, kudos to Alex Lidell for another job well done :D

Last Chance World begins with Sam and Jake landing in Talon, after jumping through the gateway to escape Victor. It does not take long for us to meet characters from the PO5 series. It was enough to make me pause reading and squeal in excitement! The crossover between Talon and Lunos is my favorite part of Last Chance World, and hopefully leads to future books set in these worlds. Sam is tough and independent. She sticks to her beliefs and still refuses to take orders from her men. Being in Talon allows Sam to feel her magic and she grows more confident in her ability to protect herself (and others) with magic.

**Spoilers**
I was happy to see the relationships formed with her mates and her final bond, with Cassis, completed. I did feel as though the ending was a bit rushed, after so much time was spent plotting in the mines. The final showdown between Sam and Bryant was a bit anti-climactic. I was disappointed we did not get any closure with Victor but my hope is that was purposely left open for future books. The ending did give us our happily ever after, with Sam pregnant, and living near Talonswood reform with her mates & Jake.

There is a complete and happy ending, however I can imagine another spin off or even a continuation once Sam takes her position on the council. I highly recommend this to people who enjoy RH fantasy.

Last Chance World is the fourth and final book in the Immortals of Talonswood series, and it was an excellent book. The storyline is engaging, compelling, and very fast-paced. With lots of paranormal action, drama, and steamy romance, you will not want to put it down.

To escape Victor, Sam and Jake, and ergo Kitty, go through the portal to Talon without their mates. Cassis follows to investigate the mystery behind the missing humans. Something is amiss, and Talon is harming them. Each of the Horsemen steps up in this book to save the world from King Bryant's evils.

The characters continue to be intriguing, mysterious, humorous, and downright enjoyable. Sam is growing into her magic, and we see her and Kitty bonding much deeper. She is a fierce female protagonist who is resilient, strong, confident, persistent, and smart. No one tells her what to do, and she does not allow the men in her life to overshadow her wants, needs, and desires. In the previous books, Sam comes together with her mates; Ellis, Asher, and Reese. This storyline focuses on her last mate, Cassis, who has been a friend to Sam throughout the entire series. We find that Cassis has secrets and wounds that will impact them both. Their relationship changes in this book, and it is a nice change to see come about.

A fantastic read that I did not want to put down. There are indications that there could be a spinoff series! I hope so.

I screamed

In my head. But screamed nonetheless. And I will tell you why in second. But first, book 4 was wrapped up quite nicely. I almost didn’t see how this was going to be the last my book in the series. But it definitely left room for more. The ending wasn’t necessarily rushed but it was short on how it was wrapped up.

Now when Kai and Autumn got introduced it took me second to put things together. I knew Lunos sounded familiar. But what got everything to click was when they were discussing the quaint bond. And then I was like oh snap. One of their dads is in Talon. I wonder who. And I learned it was Coal.

Who child I almost lost it, I was so excited. At first I was thinking he was under some kind of kind control or got brainwashed. Kind of like Great Falls Academy. But then I learned that wasn’t the case and he was just playing a role really well. I love me some Coal.

Any who, to finally see Cassis accept the mate bond was such a relief. I got tired of him fighting things. I mean understood why since he was in Talon. But even before going he was adamantly fighting. I wanted to jugular 🤛🏽him. And now, now I’m just happy that they got a mostly happily ever after. I am hoping to hear more from Devinee and Horseman and Lera and her Quaint. Hopefully in a mixing of worlds. But separatewould be okay too. Just so long as it happens.

Review for the whole series.

Firstly, I’ve never read anything from this author before so I went in blind to their writing style and while I enjoyed the series, something was just missing from it that I can put my finger on.

What I liked:
-Kitten and his love for celery. Hands down my favorite character.
-the fact that the men weren’t really “friends” as they usually are in RH books. In fact, most of them hated each other so that was a nice change.
-Sam didn’t take forty million years to come around to the fact that she was witch, she just wanted to learn more instead of deny deny deny. (Most paranormal books are like this when the FMC doesn’t know she isn’t human, drives me insane.)

What I didn’t like:
-the mens POV’s being in third person. It interrupted the flow of the book each time it switched over. Idk if that’s what this author does normally but dang, it bugged me.
-that Janie was completely forgotten about once she signed papers. I’m aware not much could be done once she was gone..but what was the point of focusing so hard on their bond and the fact that Sam did everything prior to ending up at the academy, for Janie if it really didn’t add to the store beyond getting Sam at the school?
-The books focused mostly on building a relationship with Ellis, Asher and Cassis and left Reese to just kinda float around in the back ground.

I'm a sucker for magic fantasy schools that torment students. Especially when the main character defies all the rules and then the people who are supposed to uphold said rules don't want to because they grow attached to the main character (somehow the age gap of several hundred centuries to, I dunno, 20 years old, isn't creepy to me? Idk).

Ellis, Reese, Cassis, and Asher are fun characters. I mean, obviously Sam is too, but she's the main character so I'm supposed to love her. The order of which the guys fell for her surprised me. I did not expect Ellis to be first, nor did I expect Cassis to be last. A fun surprise.

The crossover with Power of Five!!! So excited to see Coal again and also see Lera's children (or, at least two of them...who knows how many she has with those men living with her). Having just finished the Power of Five series a day or two ago, it was really wonderful to see the adjustment to Coal's "attitude" in the time he has spent with Lera. I'm not sure how long the time gap is between the end of Power of Five and this book, given the deceptive age quality that the fae have, but it has to have been the better part of 20 years at minimum. I'm so happy that Coal is happy. And he hugged his son!!! Loved that little moment.

This series was fun! Very quick read with some fun banter and a slimy, evil vampire. What's not to like?

Lots happened

This is my second read through, for some reason I didn’t review it. I read it anyways because I liked the plot of the story. So many different aspects brought to a head in this series ender. I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the first book. The middle two weren’t nearly as good. I loved how we got to see both sides to Cassis in this book. He was one of the main characters of the first 3 but he didn’t get as much spot light. Each book had a different love angle. Where she bonded to each. The reader got to fall in love with one of the 4 male lead characters and this one was explosive with Cassis. I loved it. I wish we got to see more of them singing and shocking their audience with how powerful they were.
Kitten needed a bigger spotlight, he was the side kick that loved Celery. Sending images into her mind rather than the call of her name when he imprinted on her. I don’t feel like there was a good conclusion on King Bryant’s plot for slavery for their liquid power. They close the portal and that was that? This is why I rated it 4 stars. This whole book was in regard to the Slave operation…. As a reader, we should get some kind of positive conclusion to the horrors they saw and went through there before they all bonded.
I enjoyed the series and I’m glad I got to re read it again.

The last book is here!

This is the fourth and final instalment in the Immortals of Talonswood Saga.
We start the story were we left off. Samantha found herself in Talon with Jake, and here she meets the twins, Lera's Twins!!!!! We have a little cross over that you'll love.
If you've read the Power of Five you know what's I am talking about, if you haven't read those yet, DO IT! Those are my absolute favorite RH books

In this book we have action, suspense, and emotions.
I really liked Sam and her guys, i just feel like this book was rashed.
A lot of thing happens in a short time, too fast.
Maybe it's me, but after the end i feel like the story wasn't finished.
I need moreeeee

I loved everything that is in this series, the plot, the characters, the RH romance and this author's writing style.
My only issue is it feels like there is not enough i really hope there will be more of their story in the future.

Our heroine must go undercover to uncover the secret to this plot, but the situation turns bad rather quickly and her allies might not be onboard. This calls for drastic measures.

This is book four of the series, and the conclusion. I recommend starting at the beginning.

This is a paranormal romance with a lot of different elements, the main ones being an academy setting and a reverse harem theme. Although in this book we spend a lot of time outside the academy. The story is well written and easy to read, yet packed with a fast paced and fairly complex plot which includes paranormal politics. Both the setting and characters are well done and solid, easily visualized by the reader and helping to draw you into the story. As the conclusion of our story is there is a lot going on as we strive to tie up all the loose ends. Overall, that makes for highly engaging and enjoyable story.

Highly recommended.

I’ve been addicted to this series from the start! All my favourites combined into one story. Witches, Fae shifters and vampires, what more can a girl ask for!

This is a fast paced, addictive, easy to sink your teeth into series. The perfect amount of steam, alongside a strong story. I’ve read each book in a single sitting and now want to go back and start again from the beginning. If you love a strong female, Sam, is no shrinking violet, she’s got balls of her own, or at least a dragon! Just the type of character I love to read about. Her four mates are equally as attractive, Cassius, Reese, Ellis and Asher, you can’t help but love these damaged, alpha males.

If you loved Power of Five, you will really love Talonswood Academy. This book even has a crossover, which added to the excitement. I love the way Alex Liddell creates her worlds and characters, she draws you in doesn’t want to let you go. The beauty of books, I can head back whenever I want to.

Highly recommended series!

This book, for me, was not on the same standard as the previous 3 books. A lot happened in this book, without anything actually happening. Going to Talon achieved only two things 1) saving Jake and 2) closing the portal without wing seen by the useless council.

In Talon, Sam managed to complicate the escape plan for the slaves. She didn’t even ensure the slaves were freed. The slave were freed without her, and still would have been freed had she not gone to Talon.

We didn’t really get to see what Kitten can in these books, and that’s a shame.

I feel the author made the witch’s magic too powerful and thus had to create “kryptonite” for the FMC, in terms of Talon. Talon’s effect on the witch and the vampire is not explained. Why are they in a constant state of hunger?

No one knows what is happening in Terra, I don’t even know why it’s mentioned. Victor just disappeared without putting up a fight. Why? It’s not explained where the human people in Terra and Lunos are coming from.

Last Chance World was a great conclusion to a series that was strong from the start: a perfect blend of action and hot scenes, my only complain is that it's over :( But with the cameo from The Power of Five series and the epilogue, I hope that this is not the last we've seen from Sam, Ashe, Elis, Cassis and Reese (and Jake and Kitten!).
