It’s a new regime at Talonswood Reform. It’s cold and it’s cruel. And it’s Asher’s.

After a violent attack leaves the academy in tatters, Asher is in charge of shaping up the place for inspection. And according to the stick-up-his-ass commander, everything that’s gone wrong here comes down to me. My power. My addictive connections with Ellis and Reese. And the tiny, fire-breathing dragon who won’t leave my side.

Asher is determined to make me an enemy, but he won’t make me a subordinate. I’ve never bowed down to power-drunk males before, and I refuse to now—no matter the punishment.

But even Asher himself can’t control what’s coming. A secret that could undo him. A brewing divide between fae and vampires. A centuries-old magic that ignites the air between us, no matter how much we hate each other.

And if there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that the magic always wins…

LAST CHANCE WITCH is a full-length dark reverse-harem paranormal romance. This is the third of four books in IMMORTALS OF TALONSWOOD, a new series from Amazon’s top-100 author Alex Lidell. With hot shifter-fae, delicious vampires, and one lone witch, Talonswood isn’t your normal reform school.

These guys are complete assholes.
Like.. they overstep HUGE boundaries, but yet I am over here eating popcorn and want more.

I am just so invested in this story. There is just something addictive about it. It’s by no means a favourite RH of mine, but the way Sam holds herself. The way she just “fit” makes me crave more.
Plot wise we are covered, but I don’t find it that spectacular. It’s still smart though, but on a quite simple scale. We get enough to feel like we are moving somewhere, but not so much that it gets “mysterious.”

The more I think about it the more I feel like I am here for the dickiness of Asher, Ellis, Cassis & Reese.
They are just so unapologetic about themselves. And bossy. Like really bossy. Commanding.
They do care for Sam so it’s not like we don’t get a little taste of gentleness, but boy- it really isn’t much😂 Or maybe it’s just a different kind of gentle. Like the spanking kind😎
Either way/ I am on board, and will totally go down with the captain when the ship sinks😎
Also - the steam is on point👏

All I can say is awww

Being a foster child sucks ass. Being group homes really suck ass. And the fact that a 9-year-old has to say that he would offer his body is kind of disgusting. But unfortunately it happened. In all worlds I'm guessing.

I have to be honest, every time that c a s s i s messed with a bond I wanted to beat the shit out of them. And yes I had to spell that completely for my voice to text to pick it up.

Since I actually read the next book already before doing this review because my phone was charging, I know the reason that he did what he did. However I do not agree with it. He should have given Sam her own voice in the matter. Let me back up there. I don't understand why he felt he wasn't good enough. But the rest of it I do understand.

It's so cute how everybody bonded and you know made life worth living etc etc etc

This whole series so far has been good.
I liked the push and pull, but it’s a little too much for me.
I’m not connecting to the characters as much as I’d like. The characters aren’t connecting to each other as much as I’d like. There’s still one not all the way In after three books of him being around and things happening with him in a sexual way.
I’m just kind of bored.
The next book is supposed to be set in a different place, and there’s different goals, but the relationships just aren’t strong enough for me to really care all that much.
🤷🏻‍♀️
I’m moving on to something else.

Last Chance Witch is the third book in the new adult fantasy series, called Immortals of Talonswood by Alex Lidell. I love Alex Lidell’s books. Her series, Power of Five is one of my all time favorites, and I already know that this series will soon be joining my favorite shelf as well. Alex writes addictive fantasies that I never want to put down. I finished this book in one sitting, and I know that it is going to be too long of a wait until I can get my hands on the next book because I need it right now. If you are a fan of new adult fantasies, and of reverse harems, this is a must read. Plus, it's on Kindle Unlimited so no reason to not check it out!

Last Chance witch picks up after the events of the second book, so you do need to read this series in order. This is Asher's book and I have been waiting for his chance with Sam ever since book 1, and man oh man it did not disappoint!

I love watching the world expand and grow and we learn more about the power dichotomy between the Vampires and Fae through the series. It is all very interesting, and perhaps the most interesting component of all is the bond between Sam and the guys. I have read fated mates stories in the past, and I love them, but this is something different. I can't wait to see how it is all going to unfold. I am loving this series so much. The Immortals of Talonswood series is going to have plenty of secrets, action and of course lots and lots of romance. I am so ready for book 4!

We have action, suspense, and emotions. We start the story were we left off. Samantha is struggling with everything that happen and her feeling for the guys. Will she mate all horsemen? What is Victor really up-to? What is she going to do with the dragon? Can she get Kitten under control or will she keep living in the dungeon? Will something happen to her again? why is Victor letting Asher take over the Academy? Cant wait to see what happens in the next book.

Misdirected hate to conceded love

It wasn’t my favorite. Sam’s still someone people lie to in order to use her how they want. I dislike her thinking she’s right in hating someone because they hurt her or someone she cares about. I dislike misdirected hate, especially when some research and trust goes a long way to be right rather than ignorant. It makes her seem a lot younger than the 20yo she is.

Ellis was barely in it, as was Reese, and Asher was pretty up and down. I think the only consistent people were Victor and Mika.

This third book picks up where we left off in book 2 after the school being attacked by the Fae and everyone learning how much power Sam has. Sam is still trying to find her place at the academy, with her mates and being a witch. I loved seeing the relationships change in his book from bully to finally having feelings. I think the characters still have a long way to go, but I love seeing the development of something solid.

Wow this book was an amazing read. Each page pulls you in so deep that you only come up for air at the end.
The character Sam shows how strong she is and fights through all the twists and turns she is put through. Also we get to see more from Asher in this book as he fights the bond with Sam, plus also the characters of Ellis, Reece and Cassis you get to see them too more from their pov which is really good.
Totally cant wait for the next book after that cliffhanger ending and with all the steamy moments this book had why wouldn't you want to pick this up.

ugh

Ok so I’ve been digging this series so far until it got to about 65% into this one and got to the whole punishment thing. And NOT the fun kind! I can understand working something like that into the plot and building the relationship from there, I’ve read my share of dark romances so I get it. But to go directly from hardcore traumatic punishment to sex almost directly after with no real effort at apology or relationship building on behalf of the offending MMC was just gut wrenching mega yuck. It honestly surprised me the FMC’s personality even allowed it. It’s kind of an abuse on the whole fated mate attraction situation. lol if it wasn’t for my desperation to see how things work out with cassis I might not have read the next one.

This series had potential but I like it less with each book. I don't like the male characters and I know that's a big part of it. I also didn't see a point bringing in a kid they barely have interaction with who then becomes hostage at the end. Sam is an ok character but still just ok so I'm not too invested in her. The progress is slow with her learning magic and the build up to Victors big plan is also slow. The whole thing lacks depth and direction in my opinion. I do love all of Lidell's other series though.

3/4 bond mates have been established and the start of a new plot line taking place with Talon. I am pausing after this book because there is a crossover/multiverse situation happening with her other series that I need to be caught up on. I do feel like the attraction from her mates was predominantly physical; I get that Sienna weaved their fates together I just wanted to see some more connection and attraction on a deeper level.

rushed with no real chemistry

Love the introduction of the dragon. There’s no way I’m messing with Asher after he did and I begged him. Like no. These are serious trauma bonds. Asher was only back in control one week before he gave in.

This author didn’t do a good job with the details in this series. In the same chapter, Mika is a demifae and a vampire.

ok book

I’ve read this one before and I’m still not a huge fan of it. I loved the multiple point of views, I love Kitten her pet dragon. I found this had many points where the guys were just being complete d bags to her and next she was having sex with them. Ugh.

The most interesting part was that last scene when she goes into Talon with Jake. I wish we had a longer book to explore more about that.

Note: I received this book via Booksprout and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion

Dude! Immortals of Talonswood is the first series I have read by Alex and I love it, I can't believe it took me so long to read one of her series. Last Chance Witch is the third book in the series and it was fantastic. She manages to do an academy, prison, reverse harem, that has a lot packed into it.

Sam is still finding her place at the Academy, things aren't as bad as when she first arrived and she has even found a true friend in Mika. The hacker and Sam have become really close and it's good to see her with someone she can trust, besides her mates. Sam is a strong person and she steadily proves that throughout the series but she does need at least one person who she can confide in, I just wish she had more interactions with Mika.

If you would have told me at the start of this series that Ellis and Reese would change so much I don't know if I would have believed it. Sam has brought out something different in each of the guys, Ellis is a lot more cuddler than before and while Reese is still stoic but he is a lot more open. The damage that Sienna did to the guys is very real and has caused them so much trauma, it changed who they were and now Sam is breaking down those barriers and in turn, they are giving her people she can trust, a family. I love how protective they are of her but Ellis surprises me most, while he is protective he also has faith in Sam's abilities and I love that.

Ellis and Reese have mated with Sam, which means two down and two to go. Both Cassis and Asher surprised me in this one, with there responses to Sam, I didn't expect what happened to happen the way it did, but it was good. I am not gonna say what happens but the interactions between Sam and Cassis and Sam and Asher are very interesting all the while the story had this natural progression that felt very smooth and fit the story very well.

The plot is so good, I devoured Last Chance Witch and I still want more. Alex did a good twist on the academy story with the past coming into play so often. What Sienna did in the past is very much affecting what is happening currently and it's interesting seeing the guys fall under Sam's "spell" (haha). The interactions between Sam and the guys (except with Cass) before the matings are a little rough. Neither really understands each other and Sam is just this little spitfire that they don't know how to handle but then everything smoothes and it's great.

Then there is the fae/vampire politics, things are still tense between the two factions and it shows at the school and makes me wonder how things go about outside the school. I love the background information that we get but I would love to have more. I also have a theory that there are more witches out there and they haven't found them, but that Sam might be the key to that. It fits well with the story and I would like to have more witches around.

The ending of Last Chance Witch was dramatic and I loved it. From the beginning of this book, everything that happened lead to the final moment of the book and it was one heck of a cliffhanger. Between the steamy scenes, Asher's power trip, Victor being Victor, Sam's magic growing, the adorable little dragon, and a couple of crazy plot twists I was very entertained. I loved Last Chance Witch, I love the series in general and I can't wait to read what I believe is the final book Last Chance World. I am not ready to let go of Sam and the guys but I so need to know what happens next.

RH/Supernaturals/Enemies to Lovers

SYNOPSIS (of 4 Book Series): FC discovers she is a witch and not a mortal and is forced to attend Talonswood Academy, a boot camp school for supernaturals and demis (not full shifters or full vampires). Witches were thought extinct so the FC is wanted by both the Shifters and the Vampires. She discovers that she is connected to the 4 horsemen. 4 very old supernaturals (2 shifters and 2 vampires) who had banded together years ago to try and unite the supernaturals but had be kidnapped and tortured by a witch which resulted in them splitting up and going their own ways. The books cover the development of the relationship between the FC and each of the horsemen as well as the machinations of the Shifter King and Vampire Master to take control of the FC. Book 4 moves on to cover the kidnapping and slavery of humans by the Shifter King with a climax and HEA.

The story is good and the writing is good but the style just didn't do it for me. The author insists on referring to the MCs as "the males" even when the FC it thinking about them and to the FC as "the witch or the female". In addition, when talking from a character's POV the author still writes with a cross between third person and first person. I found this technique to be jarring and resulted in me not feeling any real deep connection between the FC and any of the MCs. How can there be when she's referring to them as the Males when in romantic or close situations? I'm not sure what the purpose of this style was.

The FC is a pretty strong individual and not unlikeable but the MCs, for me, each came across as too closed off and I just didn't see or feel the bond between each of them and the FC.

If you can get over the style then this is OK although pretty superficial when it comes to story and character development and the ending, for me, lacked real closure. I mean, what will King Bryant do now? How does the supernatural world evolve and how does the relationship with the FC and the MCs work if they are all off doing different things?

So where is book 4? Like, seriously... you can't expect me to want to wait after that, right? I neeeeeeeeeeeed it!

Ahem... okay, onto the actual review:

Worldbuilding:
Was good, we pretty much kept on campus that was pretty much destroyed after what happened at the end of the second instalment and had to be rebuild. Aaaaaaaaaaaand since Asher is Asher, that means the students get one very intensive daily workout (okay, more than one lol). But then again, they will be too exhausted to cause trouble... or so you'd think ;)
As always, scenes and environments were clear and detailed enough for your mind to get into the zone.

Character development:
Was good. That said, do you mind if I kicked some male ass? Seriously?!
While the biggest shift so far was in the second book, in this one we dig a little deeper and it's Asher's time to feel the pain.
Oh oh oh and Kitten... is absolutely the best!!! Please point me to the nearest location where I can get myself one, thank you very much.
But yeah, characters are getting there, being well fleshed out and memorable, even if they go against their better judgement all because someone says so (*sigh*... men!!).

Pacing and flow:
Were excellent! I love a book that just grabs my hand and then refuses to release me until I finished reading. It was early in the morning, I can tell you that :D
Good balance between action and conversation.

The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) errors and yes, there is sex described (if that is important to you).

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and I really like where the story is going, the next (and unfortunately last book of the series) will be amazing!
It was a very enjoyable read, even if I wanted to kick some ass in between ;)

This was a close 2 star for me and definitely the most disappointing book. Major Spoilers Ahead.

This book was a mess with overarching plot convenience and character disintegration.

* Archer gets the school back and turns it even more militant.
* Introduction of new character when we don’t get enough other character development as it is.
* Ellis is thrown out of the school and doesn’t put up a fight or schedule time to see Sam at Dusk.
* Asher whips her, Reese lets it happen, is cruel to her and then says the laws were never meant for mortals. HE was the one who set the punishment for leaving campus at six lashes when he knew she bartended at Dusk.
* Reese lets her hide in her dungeon after whipping instead of insisting she get looked at? He’s also cold just because Asher told him to avoid Sam. Then gets mad she didn’t go to him?
* The dragon. So cute, but his part is very muddled.
* There’s little to no actual teaching of anything going on.
* I kept waiting for the other mates to learn about Sam’s history with men and SA, so they’d better understand her, but it was never brought up again after Ellis.

🛑 Then the most disappointing part is the plot convenience of Asher and Sam getting trapped in the dungeon bc of her pet dragon, not using the locking spell to get out, and she gives him a BJ? What? Then they mate. Yes. The guy who just split open her back she had wild sex with, on a stone dungeon floor no less.

This is what happens when a character isn’t integrated properly in the previous two books.

Good thing Asher has Fae knees.

Sam consistently goes from“I’m so strong I don’t need anyone” to “let me mate”. She never once sticks with her convictions after they hurt her.

The third book is almost always the weak link and this definitely held up.

Last Chance Witch (Immortals of Talonswood 3, PRN Dark Reverse Harem Academy Romance) picks up where Last Chance Reform: Shifter Fae Vampire Dark Reform School Romance (Immortals of Talonswood Book 2) leaves off. It is the aftermath of the battle. More secrets come to light, and boy does Asher have a lot on his plate, the least of which is to get Sam (aka Samantha) to want to do something that will help Asher achieve a long time goal. The battle with the Fae may be over, but the war certainly is not. There is a lot of palpable tension in this book that helps to keep you engaged, not to mention the steamy sex. Things heat up on the romance end, and the paranormal-supernatural action is revved up even more.

Sam is a girl after my own heart. I love her feistiness and the fact that she does not allow anyone to bully her into anything. She says what she thinks. Asher, Ellis, and Reece are the guys that make your toes curl. Each has a specialty, and together they are lethal, in bed and out. I love the introduction of the new not so little baby dragon sidekick. If any witch is going to have a dragon familiar, it will be Sam. I love that Alex insists that the only familiar a witch can have a cat, so Sam names him Kitty. I love Sam's sarcasm as it adds much humor to the storyline, as does Kitty. He is creating havoc everywhere and is like an overgrown puppy that has no self-control.

The Immortals of Talonswood is a great series. The end game will be something to read, and I am looking forward to it.

Love this series! Loved Sam and Asher.
After the attack on the Academy, Count Victor is in danger of being replaced, forcing him to step up his plans. He cuts a deal with Asher. Giving him complete control over the students and the management of the Academy, with the stipulation of hand off on Samantha. Asher wastes not time cracking down.
Asher is not immune to the pull between him and Samantha. He is determined stay away from her. His first order is to remove Ellis from the Academy. Reese is forced to limit his contact to professional. Even Sam's friend Mika is not spared. Then there is kitten, Sam's dragon. Sam and Kitten are moved to the dungeon tower, were Kitten can't burn anything down.
When Cassis needs Sam's help, she does not hesitate in breaking Asher's rules. Cassis has a big problem in a little body. Asher needs to know about it.
While Asher is grateful for all Sam did for him. Victor knows she broke the rules and the punishment can't be any different then for a demi. Victor uses that to get compel Sam to do his bidding.
Asher and Sam reconcile and Asher gives in to what they both want and need. When he realizes what has happened to her, he calls for help form Cassis, Ellis and Reese. They have a good idea on the who, not sure on the why. When Victor seems to have the upper hand, Sam snatches away from him. Now the 4 Horseman will have to save her.
Fast paced and steamy. Can't wait for the next book

Enjoy story but pov switch is disconnecting

I’m still enjoying this series and although I’m getting used to the switch from first to third person it’s still jarring. The switch between point of view has been an issue for me throughout the series but it’s only now I’m realising the real effect. I’m interested in the FMC’s story and character, but feel a disconnect to the MMCs. Normally, third person point of view wouldn’t have this effect on me although I don’t normally see two different ones in the same book. It’s resulted in me viewing the actions of the MMCs through essentially a microscope, and instead of engaging that creative part of my brain that allows me to fall into a story it’s engaged the logical part that’s disconnected and viewing their actions with scientific curiosity. I’ll freely admit now that if I wasn’t enjoying the FMC’s story as much as I am I’d probably have given up on this in the first book and not finished it. As it is it’s taken me this long to realise the real effect and I’m already too committed that I want to finish. So overall good story, well written, fabulous character growth, slightly unrealistic emotional connections (but again that may be result of pov switching), and fantastic side characters. Only recommend if can handle the switch and I’m off to read the next book.

Our heroine and the school are still recovering from previous events, but events won't stand still to give them the time they need. Can they pull together to face the threat?

This is book three of the series. Considering I missed the first two books, this one actually did a fine job as a standalone. I am definitely missing some of the backstory, but all the essentials were easy enough to figure out. Still, I recommend starting at the beginning if possible.

This is a paranormal romance with a lot of different elements, the main ones being an academy setting and a reverse harem theme. The story is well written and easy to read, yet packed with a fast paced and fairly complex plot. Some of that complexity may be due to not reading the earlier books, but things also get complicated anytime paranormal politics enter a story. Both the setting and characters are well done and solid, easily visualized by the reader and helping to draw you into the story. There is also a fair amount of steam in the story, which is always a pleasant distraction. Overall, this was an excellent, highly enjoyable story and I look forward to going back to read from the start.

Highly recommended.

🗡️🗡️ONE FABULOUS CONTINUITY🗡️🗡️
Blazing blizzards! Alex brought out the big guns with this tough as nails rollercoaster, laying out the heavy artillery, locked and loaded, keeping you riveted on a razors edge, blasting this baby to life brilliantly. Mayhem and mishaps descend in a flurry of shenanigans and havoc, blurring lines and broken boundaries, limitations are amplified and exploited, reaching deep for every ounce of strength in a fierce surge of preservation and determination, lunging forward with such intensity and vigor, thrusting this jewel to staggering heights. The characters, banter, dialogue, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, blend and flow, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Alex, thanks for sharing this amazing thrill with us.

Last Chance Witch: Shifter Far Vampire Dark Reform School Romance (Immortals of Talonswood Book 3)-
Alex Lidell

Book 3 in this series awesomely advanced the overall storylines of this series. I have to say undoubtedly my favorite character is Kitten, the little dragon familiar (I want one).
Sam’s powers continue to grow and this feisty witch totally confounds her guys. Their relationships are a bit strained until their matings although I did want to let Kitten do what she wanted and torch is butt a little.
The characters continue to be fleshed out and are still finding their places in this strange harem group.

Lots of great banter between the characters, fast paced on the edge of your seat action.
Suspense, intrigue, manipulation by evil school headmasters, will Sam be able to figure out the right path and protect her mates in the next book, yes this is a cliffhanger so the answers will be coming soon, I hope.

4.5 out of 5 stars.

Sam learns she's more powerful than many of the other students at Talonswood. Unfortunately, that means she's a bigger target now than she was when she first arrived; and, not even a dragon can protect her from those who wish to use her power for their benefit. Sam knows she has one friend, but does she have any allies with any of the males who claim they care about her? Meanwhile, the past catches up to the males and they know something must be done in order to protect Sam and repeating the mistakes of the past. Can the 5 cadets trust each other before the Council steps in? Can a war be prevented before it starts?

Even though there is one book left to read in this series, I can see the author expanding on this world through a potential future series. It would be nice, but I'll read whatever the author releases.

This book was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed reading about the growing relationships between the main characters. While it was an easy read I don’t feel like it is a story with much depth or substance. I could tell that Alex was trying to give it with Sam’s punishment from Asher but it just didn’t quite do it for me. I feel that with more time and flushing out it could have gotten there and not felt so forced. Plus her quickly changing emotions of anger and hurt to love and caring was a bit superficial. But then again I did not pick up this book for its depth of emotion, but rather for its romance and sex. So on that piece, my expectations were met. Having gotten this far in to the series, I do plan to finish it. I’m interested to see how it will end.

Man Sam is G

Alright admittedly in the beginning I wasn’t in the mood to read this book. But today I decided I would finish and I’m glad I did. Victor of course is the same manipulating vampire he’s always been. Asher becomes an even larger a-hole. Ellis and Reese are kind of put in the background. This book was a lot about Asher and Sam building their bond with a sprinkle of Cassis trying to avoid building the bond.

Sam does what she always does though. Stays true to herself, defies orders at every turn and then puts other before herself. I do love that Asher he a son. Wasn’t expecting that but I’m glad it happened.

I love the dynamic between Sam and Kitten too. It’s comedy of the best kind. Like kitten is a child in a sense that she is stubborn and curious but also super needy. So kitten is toddler. And it makes for comedy. Can’t wait for book 4.

Gah! This book was so freaking good! Sam is such a great main FMC - changing and growing up but retaining her fire and sense of right. Ellis and Reese have really come around in this book and both love their mate. Asher, the big jerk, is struggling and Cassis is in outright denial. But this book is all about Asher and his growth, which took a very different path from the other 2. No Asher is stubborn enough to need a life changing revelation to get him to admit what he's always known - that he needs Sam as much as the others do. Oh but sadly our bad guy gets his clutches into Sam and that ending leaves us hanging.. .

It was a great read and the series is moving along nicely. I'm enjoying the characters and can't wait for the next book.

This is the third book in this series, and they must be read in order. I really enjoy everything that is in this series - the plot, the characters, the reverse harem romance and this author's writing style. My only issue is it feels like there is not enough. I'd like to have more interactions between Sam and all of the harem members, just a little more depth to their relationship development and the story overall. As is it is a quick, enjoyable read since everything there is good, the lack of depth just keeps it from being great, and me from becoming emotionally attached to the characters. This third book ends in a cliffhanger, and the upcoming fourth book should be the last; I am looking forward to how everything ends.
