As Shinshioka launches into the much-awaited week-long event, Seiki and his friends race to solve the mystery of the recent treasures from the Shussebora Cave. Having gone against what appears to be the most powerful clan in the game, they now try their best to balance progression with just the right amount of politics to keep everyone out of trouble. However, amid the dazzling allure of the activity-filled Festival, with its own promise of lucrative rewards, danger lurks in many forms—from rare monsters to new enemies, to the disturbing reappearance of the masked stalker who seems to haunt Seiki’s every step.
Is the ronin the only person who can see it? Who is the figure behind the white mask and what do they want? What challenges will the Festival bring, and what other secrets will Seiki and his friends stumble upon before the echoes of the final fireworks fade away?
I have enjoyed most of this series. But I can't say why. Bushido Online is full of litrpg elements, with a nice setup that prevents the out-of-game becoming a factor.
The story itself is baffling. Every twist and turn is confusing, and the author takes great care to prevent readers from getting enough data to make many useful predictions (my one gripe about the series- the culture is opaque enough without needing extra steps to make things more hidden).
I feel like I would hate to actually play in the game as described, but I do appreciate the story being told. I'm not sure if that's the mark of a good story, or a bad one?
This is technically well-written, with few errors of any kind. It is a solid continuation of the series, exposing more mysteries and wrapping up many of the previous arcs.
I recommend the series: read the first book, and read others if you enjoy that one.
This is by far the best book in the series. As someone who enjoys the MC going through trials and tribulations, this book definitely delivers and keeps the excitement going throughout the whole book. I assume if you’re on this book already you’re unlikely to give on the series, but this will definitely bolster your love and excitement for it. Great work!
The Bushido Online series is one of the most solid and enjoyable LitRPG series and the latest volume doesn't disappoint. The continued development of the plot is great but doesn't trap the characters. Can't wait for more.
Best book in the series yet. Lots of action, intrigue, and plot development in this book. Finally, starting to see what the long term plot is and a bit of a reveal behind the curtains. I still do not love the protagonist, but he has gotten better. His hard headedness is fun.
It was a long wait but completely worth the outcome. I think the pace of the book was fast but truly didn’t feel like the author was writing a filler book.
The author really understands what makes this story so good and what makes this book great is how the author emphasized those elements. Sieki is awesome and the best protagonist but what makes it work are the supporting cast. They fill in those parts he doesn’t have.
Ippie - is a solid friend That friendship allows Seiki to grow and makes the adventures fun. The fact they both support each other so fiercely is a major part of what makes the book.
I loved the ending. I knew it was coming and I wanted it to happen. The best part it didn’t disappoint. I’m glad the author gave it such a reverent quality. It was a fitting close to the first four books (pre patch) and the start to the post patch world.
The best book in the series so far. The series is surprisingly engaging considering there are very low stakes involved. However, the game that is being described does not really sound like it would be fun to play.
Very uplifting ending that feels like a good close to the Beginning Arc of the series. The main character group has been established, the main antagonist group seemingly has been established, and the goal that both groups will fight over is slowly being revealed.
The main thing that will be frustrating for a reader is the fact that the reader has less information to work with than the characters do. Even the MC knows slightly more than the reader does. This can be frustrating and can lead to situations where actions characters take don't make a ton of sense in the moment.
However, the series is still moving at a really good pace and I look forward to the next book.
After 2 1/2 years and no 5th book, I think it is safe to assume this is the last installation of this series. It is a mediocre end to a mediocre series. The MC is in this world to cope with going blind but acts as if he is also paralyzed. There is no resolution or growth for his physical impairment.
The game play makes less and less sense and the combat gets longer and longer.
We finally have resolution on the interpersonal conflict but are now introduced to court intrigue. I don't know if the resolution with Master whoever is supposed to signify his acceptance that it is just a game or something deeper.
All in all, I don't regret reading this series and I hope this author uses this experience to flush out his future stories.
I loved each of the three previous books, and now with the end of this one I swear and curse my linear temporal existence since now I must once again wait some unknown length of time for book 5! Lots of twists, turns, new relationship and friendships, old enemies, hurrying some hatches but are they in the enemy's skull or in peace? New foes of unknown origin and apparently significant means. Enjoy the ups and downs of Seth's journey and then join me in waiting also, but if you haven't read the other 3 go back and read them first for the love of all things holy and unspoiled!!!
I LOVE this series. This book was so worth the wait. Great story, great writing, and characters that are awesome. My only regret is that the author(s) haven’t written more books for me to read. This series and this book especially, are worth reading. This book ties up some loose ends and solves some mysteries from earlier books and opens new paths for future books. I gave it five stars but I would give it ten stars if I could.
It feels as an age has passed since the 2nd book was released and I almost assumed that the 3rd wasn’t going to be done. Thankfully it dropped and wasn’t disappointed, the story advances at a steady pace and it’s a gripping read as we follow in Seths adventures, the characters are really well crafted and the RPG side is handled well. Hopefully we won’t have to wait as long for the next one!
I love the Asian motif of this LitRPG series, and this book delivers even more, events and quests of all kinds, centered around Shinshioka, its capital. Definitely love the populated city setting, I've had enough of sleepy rural villages. More puzzles and mysteries await Seiki, but also answers and rewards.
This series is everything the litrpg genre has the potential to be. Not just a limited, diminished thing of stats and and rarity pasted over some OP MC jumping through all the tropes. Great characters, a beautiful world brimming with flavor, an interesting system, a story with intrigue and action. I can't wait for the next book.
This is a supremely regular book. Like, I got through it all with relative ease, but it wasn't the most fun I've had listening to a book. It's not like nothing happened throughout, but it was quite meh. The palace intrigue wasn't put together very well. I'm still looking forward to book 5 for sure. 👍🏾
The novels from the Bushido Online series have never failed to be brilliant storytelling. This has become my most anticipated read. Now looking forward to where the story leads in its next instalment.
Latest book in one of the best litrpg series I've read. 8t explores a large open world mmo without getting bogged down by Stat blocks or pages of numbers.the characters are engaging and seem to really enjoy the world they're playing in.
This entry is just so satisfying to read after binging the first three books. Can't recommend this enough due to the character development, systems, and pacing of the novel. I can safely say this is another great entry in the series.
This book is a great continuation of the series. The characters are well rounded. We are getting a better look at the inner workings of the different power blocks in the game. I can't wait for the next book to be released.
I forgot how incredible this series was as it had been a while since I listened to the last one. And once again I was floored by it. Excitement and fun from start to finish. Once more I had thought it was the end but now see there is so much more left to uncover. I look forward to the continuation.
This series makes me wish the technology was real so I could experience it for myself. The character development is is excellent, the world rich and exciting. Can’t wait for the next one.
