Bel Paxton doesn’t want anything to do with world-famous rock star Jamie Morris—not since he dumped her when she was seventeen. She may have gotten stuck in Silverton and given up on her dreams, but that doesn’t mean she’s been pining for him all these years.
Jamie Morris did and saw it all in the last decade of super-stardom, but he’s avoided one thing—coming home. Now he's done running and is determined to help the family business at Silver Ridge Lodge. Maybe he'll even make peace with Bel, since every time he sees her he still feels breathless despite her clear dislike of him.
But when Jamie learns a secret that releases him from a misguided promise he once made, he sees a chance at an entirely different future. Like letting himself want Bel, and she’s game to have him for a time… But she doesn't trust him. Can he convince her he’s worth a shot before she walks away?
The second book in the Silverton series follows a Rockstar who left town to follow his dreams and never looked back. He left behind his family, family business & Bel, the love interest, who he thought was off limits cause his brother was in love with her too. I loved the the fact that how the conflict wasn't solely based on the love triangle aspect but rather how both Bel & Jamie had their own issues when came to being together.
After so many years of being apart with only meeting for a few minutes over the years, it was amazing to see how strong & live the sparks & chemistry was. The flashback chapters were equally swoon worthy and heartbreaking that gave so much clarity about what went wrong.
I appreciated both of them being clear about their expectations when they gave it a second chance. I loved how they communicated, how easy & laid back they were around each other.
A beautiful story of pain, heartbreak, abandonment, second chances & family attachments set in a cozy mountain town with picturesque & breathtaking views.
I loved this book and I’m not at all surprised because I love this author’s style!! If you want to support a romance indie author, check out all her books!!! The "then" chapters were amazing and made me so invested in Bel and Jamie’s story! Second chance romances and friends to love are my top tropes and they're both here!
Did I mention it's a sibling series set in a small, ski town in Utah? Or that it has a sweet, slightly broody introvert? I love all these things! There was a point where I felt like Bel needed to be more self-aware and I agree with her Gran that she needed to confront her abandonment issues so I may have gotten loud with my Kindle asking her to get it together but this book, especially Jamie with his man bun, is so swoon-worthy!
I enjoyed this second chance romance. All the angstyness is just great! It takes skill to write these kind of books. To drag it out when they are already is love and make it believable is hard to do. I enjoyed this one so much. It was great. I love how descriptive Cain is. You can really dive into these books. ' Clean with closed door sex before marriage.
If you’re in the mood for a sweet, small town, second-chance, rockstar romance, then this is the one for you.
I tend to struggle with second chance romances (But *why* didn’t you tell each other how you felt for 10 years??) but I could understand this one. Jamie's fear of being even more of a family screw up, and Bel's reluctance to declare love for a guy who's now a rockstar made their distance believable.
I like that Claire lets her characters make actual mistakes. The All is Lost isn't based on assumptions or misunderstandings but actual choices the characters then have to atone for. It makes those moments all the more gut-wrenching when they realize what they've done wrong, and what they'll have to do to fix it.
Sweet & swoony, with laughter, a touch of heartache, & a feisty grandma, Bel & Jamie’s story had me flipping pages as fast as I could go.
I love when a series interconnects family. In this one we follow Jamie, the rockstar brother who left Silverton to follow his dreams and never look back. Returned home to help with the family business, it’s his second chance to rekindle the spark he extinguished after he left Bel broken-hearted.
I appreciate that both characters were completely upfront with their expectations. Miscommunication often ruins second chance romances for me, but with this one Jamie is open with his plan to return to the limelight.
If you like your romance on the less steamy side, this is a great one. The chemistry between Bel and Jamie was fantastic and I kid you not, a touch to the hip between these two was all I needed to excite me.
Bel lives in the small town of Silver Ridge and spends most of her time with her best friend Danny and his family. Bel's parents a little detached and live busy work lives so that leaves Bel feeling lonely and spending time with her Grandmother and her best friends family. Growing up Bel felt like she was in love with Danny her best friend but he never seemed to feel more than the friendship vibe from her. One summer he decided to go on a family trip and leave his older brother, Jamie, to look after her. During that summer Bel realized that summer that maybe what her heart felt for Danny was just friendship. I absolutely loved the Bel and Jamie's story.
I already knew I enjoyed this author's books, so I was happy to find a whole series I could read right away and not have to wait for the next book to come out. Bel and Jamie, yes, please. She's so sweet. He's as responsible as the rest of his family. I was rooting for them since they first appeared in other books. I appreciate some of the life lessons in these books and the way the characters grow individually and as a couple. There is the happy ending that I absolutely must have for all my stories.
Jaime is a rock star from a small town and before he left to pursue his career he fell for Bel. She's always been left behind by her parents to live with her Gran. She fell out of teenage crush with her best friend Danny only to fall for Jaime. Jaime feels so guilty so when he leaves he rarely goes home and only for a short time. This book was just too much teenage insecurity for me even once they're supposed adults.
Great story about a love that barely had a chance to start before Jamie moved away, following a plan he’d made before a life altering kiss with his brother’s best friend - the girl his brother had always loved but hadn’t asked out. Bel and Jamie both tried to move on, but never truly could. I’ve read the later Silver Springs series, and it was fun to see some of those characters be introduced. Lots of tension in this story and some angst without being stressful. So much sizzle without the spice! Note to clean readers: there’s one fade to black scene.
Second Chance at Silver Ridge has been a wonderful read. I was getting a little anxious for Jamie & Bel and I am so glad they are finally together. Forever. I can't wait to read about Danny & Mia -- and more about Jamie & Bel. And I hope some of the other friends and relatives. The story was well plotted and easy to read--no weird typos and grammar mishaps.
Again, the ending isn’t satisfying. Not a real fan of Bel at this point and how she reacted to Jamie. Honestly, the next two books had better give a more comprehensive ‘ending’ to all of this story. Otherwise, will definitely feel a bit cheated.
Jamie left town when he was young and became a rock-star and really never looked back. Bel doesn’t want a thing to do with him since he dumped her when she was 17. Tropes: small town romance, strong female heroine, 2nd chances, Rock-star
I don’t know, I had a hard to reconciling Bel’s complete loathing of Jamie at the start, and then planned leaving, because he left while they were *teenagers* and weren’t even in a relationship back then. It felt really overdramatic.
I don't know. There was something...off? about the chemistry between Jamie and Bel. It was almost too easy. That doesn't properly convey how it felt, but I can't think of a better phrase. The book was good enough, it just wasn't as good as her other ones.
