4 Stars!

Sara Whitney's words and characters are brand spanking new to me with this fun, new romance and man, did I have a real good time with this one.

Diving right into this beauty that I adored right from the very start... Tempting Lies was super, super good in a whole lot of ways and y'all, I didn't want to put it down for long once I started. Thea and Aiden (loooooved these two together!) were unputdownable in so many moments, unforgettable in a lot of the others, and what starts out as an arrangement - something fake, mutually beneficial between them is gonna turn into something very, very real with those pesky little feels.

Tempting Lies, by the witty Sara Whitney, is the fourth standalone in the Tempt Me series (I'll totally be going back to read the others before this one) and if you love a fake relationship trope in romance then you will adore this duo.

I definitely recommend this book.

This is a REALLY great fake romance romcom. Thea and Aiden are witty and so steamy together. I really liked the reasoning and plot behind the fake romance and the character development for Aiden as the reformed playboy. He's also a sexy construction worker handy man, and his scenes around his work are really detailed and well thought out. Thea is flighty in many aspects of her life, but I enjoyed her attitude. Her group of friends is tight-knit, but she had this one day that I’m sure we’ve all been through: a few things go wrong and then you have a downward spiral in your head. I thought it was really well written and a great insight into Thea.

I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series, so this one stood well as a stand-alone. I can definitely see that some of other secondary characters are happy couples from previous books and we’ve got at least two couples set up for future books.

I received a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review and I enjoyed the crap out of it.

The fake dating trope is by far my favourite trope of all time so when I saw this I knew I had to read it. And I’m so glad that I did. I absolutely loved it!

The reasoning behind Aiden and Thea wanting to fake date made complete sense. They both get something out of it that will truly help them in life. Thea gets her dream princess home that she’s wanted since she was a young girl and Aiden gets his clients to see him as a family man as he prepares to be given his part of the family’s consutrction company.

The romance between Thea and Aiden was too cute. It was clear from the start that they had a connecction and would make a really good couple. Let’s be honest, they put more effort into their fake relationship than I’ve seen other people put into a real relationship. Even their fake relationship was couple goals.

This was my first time reading a novel by Sara Whitney and I adored it. The writing was fantastic. There were some excellent one liners, strong side characters who helped move the plot along, and the romance was just the right amount of steamy.

While Tempting Lies can easily be read as a standalone, I’m looking forward to reading the other novels in the Tempt Me series.

I was completed sucked in by Tempting Lies by Sara Whitney. She is a new to me author and I really enjoyed every second of it. This is a bright contemporary romance read is fast paced and keeps you engaged. A former playboy who is working on cleaning up his imagine reconnects with an old childhood friend who fears commitment after losing her father at as a young girl. Their fake relationship grows into something more the more time they spend to together remodeling her new home.
This book is funny and engaging. I laughed multiple times and situations while reading this book. I did have a couple of moments where the story dragged a little bit but overall it was worth the read. It was the perfect Sunday Escape. I highly recommend you give this book a try if you are looking for a fun and humorous read.

Once again, I’ve been swept away by a fun and fast paced Sara Whitney novel. In this light hearted contemporary romance, a former playboy who is changing his ways makes an arrangement with a woman who fears commitment after losing her father at a tender age. Their fake relationship grows into something more as the spend time together remodeling her new home.

I laughed a lot reading this book. It also left me feeling warm and happy after reading it, an enjoyable escape during what has been a pretty stressful month. I highly recommend you give this book a try if you are looking for a humorous, romantic and optimistic read.

- 2 stars. I honestly don’t know what’s wrong with me, but this fell so flat for me. I thought about DNFing a bunch of times, but didn’t because I gave THREE of the author’s novellas 5 stars (Game On, My Fake Bad Boyfriend, My Holiday Hookup Road Trip) so I kept on going thinking it would get better….? I’m shocked. I disliked both MCs.

- 13% is it lunch or dinner? They’ve mentioned lunch three times and dinner once lol. bad editing.
- 35% haha I like how they’re trying to come up with random endearments
- 41% I still don’t fully understand what or who the Brick Babes are. I even went back and searched the term and it’s still unclear. And also why is Aiden’s band called the Moo Daddies? It’s such a lame name lol. I guess my fault for not reading the first two books.
- Okay clearly unfortunately I’m not into this book.. it’s very meh to me, which is so surprising since I loved her novellas. It’s good enough that I’m not planning on DNFing at this point though.
- 48% how is a radio station office receptionist/real estate assistant answering phones/dentist office worker/zoo customer relations/bakery worker…. Supposed to afford a single family house by herself with water views AND discounted renos (like kitchens alone can cost $50k to remodel, so a full remodel has got to be hundreds of thousands) in 2020? Those are not high paying jobs. This is like just as bad as the fake couples you see on House Hunters who have a gigantic budget and their jobs are like basket weaver and mime. Like all they said was that her father’s payout paid for the mortgage. But the rest???? This is so unrealistic, are they living in the absolute middle of no where? Three hours outside of Chicago must be fucking cheap real estate. Yikes working in the real estate industry has really got me thinking about this way too deep.
- 61% well at least they finally had sex
- Wow. I honestly can say I should’ve DNFed that and I really did NOT like it. What the heck omg. This is sooooo strange. How can I 5 star three of novellas from this author, then like… 2 star this book? HOW? Why did I dislike this? I just felt so unconnected and it felt so flat to me. And god her unrealistic life circumstances lol. Idk I just felt like… soooo not invested.
- also I think I was annoyed that Aiden was all like woe is me, everyone keeps talking about my reputation as a fuckboy, but he did sleep with a crap ton of women… WHICH IS FINE, but own up to it. There’s nothing wrong with consensual sex between adults, but like what did he expect…? If he’s gonna have a whole bunch of one night stands in a conservative small town… people are going to talk. That’s just reality, dude. Am I supposed to feel sorry that you created this persona from your own actions? The only time I did feel bad for him was when the groupies were talking about him like he wasn’t a real person beyond the sex
- I didn’t enjoy their banter/conversations
- I did enjoy the steam scene where he came too fast and then had to make it up to her, and also when he tried to make her come twice haha
✅ feels when they rescued the poor dog and maybe once more later when she rejected him

Overall, not a very good book and I will probably forget it in a month, but then again obviously not horrible because I definitely got staying-up-til-3am zoned-in-on-their-relationship-waiting-for-the-shoe-to-drop ADDICTED. They just suck you in with the fake dating trope; I was very aware of the fact that I was addicted to this book even though it was the most brainless, serve-no-purpose, might-be-dumber-for-having-read-it goddamn book. The writing was not good, and there wasn’t really much of a plot, just all romantic turmoil.

And it was kind of like Jesus Christ < spoiler> how are you two going literally half a year without calling off this fake boyfriend thing and not clarifying how you really feel and that you want to try for more. It’s kind of a simple concept you shouldn’t have waited til it all boiled over and the dude blurts he loves her and basically proposes while telling her to work for him. < /spoiler>

Oh, and the FMC working for the MMC thing; I feel like we missed a super vital conversation that says she doesn’t HAVE to do that; he'd still want a relationship with her even if she doesn't work for his family and it doesn’t have to be a forever thing. Their gender norms were distractingly over the top. Like I’m almost convinced they’re republicans. Ok, sure, lots of romance novels are, but usually they like acknoweldge it somehow. But all the “You’re the man for the job”, his mom always cooking, then like FMC is cooking even though there’s no mention during the rest of the book that she likes to cook at all? And you know, she has to be the < spoiler> office manager. It’s not being the office manager alone, < /spoiler> it’s that they didn’t even mention it was a possibility anywhere in the authors mind that a woman might have a non-caretaking, high-paying job. Like, there ARE WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION NOT BEHIND A PHONE you know. And contractors designing things makes me MAD. As do grey cabinets. I approve of her warm-neutral paint color scheme though.

"Tempting Lies" by Sara Whitney was a sweet, funny, and heartwarming story featuring likeable, complex characters and an excellent slow burn romance between main characters Aiden and Thea. I really connected with each of them, and it was easy for me to root for them both individually and as a couple. Even though their relationship was fake at first, their chemistry was very real, and I loved the way their connection slowly evolved over the course of the story.

I really felt for Aiden because it seemed that no matter what he did, his reputation as a playboy got in the way of his efforts to do right by his family and their construction business. In desperation, he came up with the idea of faking a relationship with Thea in order to make himself seem more stable and settled. As a result, Thea was able to buy the rundown "princess house" of her dreams because Aiden and his crew agreed to renovate it at a reduced rate. Thea seemed rather flighty at first because of the way she jumped from job to job and refused to commit to a relationship, so I wasn't sure how much she'd be able to help Aiden's reputation. As I got to know her, however, things about her started to make a lot more sense. Thea wasn't truly flighty, but she was unwilling to settle for anything that didn't make her completely happy. I couldn't really blame her for that, and in the end, it worked out for the best because her choices led her to Aiden.

Aside from Thea and Aiden, I really enjoyed several of the book's secondary characters. I'm particularly excited that Thea's best friend Faith will be featured in the next book of the series. She was so snarky and funny but always supported Thea, and she also gave Aiden exactly the wake up call he needed near the end of this story. I hope Brandon, the owner of the radio station where Thea worked, will also be featured in a future story. I hate the way his dad treats him and think there's more to him than his frat boy exterior would suggest.

Overall, I loved "Tempting Lies" and highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. I look forward to the next book in the series!

It took me one day to read this story. I was sucked in and couldn’t put it down. I had to see what was going to happen and I didn’t want to wait,

Thea and Aiden both have commitment phobias. Thea’s comes from her childhood and Aiden’s started in high school. Aiden was the typical playboy – different woman each night, never anything serious. Thea on the other hand didn’t let a relationship last longer than 4 months as she didn’t want anyone to get too close. Aiden’s reputation comes back to bite him in the ass professionally when clients don’t want him around because they don’t think he can be reliable and get the job done – although, this is what Aiden has been working towards. He is all about the company. Aiden comes up with an idea to become a “fake” couple so he can get back in the good graces of the clients and then Thea can get the renovations done to her princess house that fits in her budget. All it took was one kiss for both Thea and Aiden to realize that there could be more.

When the 2 are together everything seems natural – they have passion, excitement and know how to push each other’s buttons! Everyone can see their connection – just have to get them to see it and confess their true feelings.

Fake relationship books are my jam! I don’t care that we all know that they’re going to fight “real” feelings with everything they have in them but still fail miserably anyway. I love seeing the million and one different fascinating ways that authors can lead us through all the twisted angsty emotional revelations the pair need to mature into the “real” relationship we all knew they were going to get in the end. And “twisted”, “angsty”, and “emotional” are the perfect descriptions for Thea and Aiden’s story. I felt like my heart was bleeding for how little faith these two had in themselves regarding relationships. The roller-coaster ride the author takes us on getting to their happily ever after left me feeling slightly broken but so happy and hopeful. Even though I’ve only just closed the cover on this book, I’m already looking forward to what the author has in store for us with the next installment in the series.

Sara Whitney writes light-hearted, fun, fast-paced contemporary romances that leave you feeling swept away and satisfied. Tempting Lies is another enjoyable romance that puts a smile on your face.

Tempting Lies is a fake relationship story, where we have a playboy that has to change his ways, and a woman with high walls around her heart. I always find myself drawn to these stories, because you can tell right away that the 'fake' part is never going to last. Especially here, when the male and female leads are so drawn to each other. The best part, however, is the humor and the happiness. Real life right now has enough drama and stress, so be able to truly escape into a book, to laugh, to life my mood, was really so needed right now.

Grab this book for a really enjoyable read.

I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.

It was okay. Aiden and Thea are both afraid of commitment. Aiden has never had a girlfriend. Thea's relationships always had an expiration date. Thea and Aiden have known each other since they were children and lived in the same neighborhood. They have always friendly with each other and then they attended, not with each other, a hockey and got caught kissing on the kissing cam. On their small town, this got the gossip mill rolling. Aiden proposes a fake relationship with Thea to help revamp his image. Thea needed renovations done on her house. Aiden agreed to do the renovations at cost with little labor cost for Thea to pretend to be his girlfriend. The attraction grows but old insecurities flair up.

It was an easy read. Thea is strong and independent but yet whiny and annoying. She is strong and independent because of assumptions she has made and promised herself she wouldn't be like her mother. The thing that gets me is that Thea is constantly complaining about her assumptions but she has never gotten over hurt feeling.

Aiden's relationship phobia has nothing to do with witnessing a bad relationship between his parents nor has he had his heart broken. He has just skated by on his looks and have women throw themselves at him.

So I'm new to Sara Whitney and this was my first read by her, but I really enjoyed the story, enough that I purchased the previous books from this series.

Since I jumped into this series at book 4, I was a bit confused about some of the events that occurred, but not enough for it to take away from my overall enjoyment. There's plenty of history between Thea and Aiden, as they've known each other since they were children. They come back into the same orbit as adults, and through a series of events, end up in a fake relationship.

I understand both points of view for pretending to be in a relationship: Thea because she needs her new fixer upper home well, fixed; and Aiden because as the current face of the family business, his playboy, man about town reputation is now a hindrance. I could also understand both Thea and Aiden keeping their true feelings for each other hidden. I loved seeing the evolution of their fake relationship to something more.

This was such a fun book! I enjoyed reading this immensely. It had all sorts of fun, witty banter, super cute moments that just had me grinning and just an all around great story. I enjoyed seeing Thea and Aiden seamlessly fall into step with one another as they played on as a fake couple. It took time for them to realize that there was a truth behind their pretend actions that could mean something more for them. It took them getting over their own insecurities of being unable to commit to finally realize the possibility of what they could be. It was also really nice to see the closeness of their friendships and family. Thea and Aiden for the most part had a great support system that definitely helped their relationship.

I could easily recommend this book. It had everything that I enjoy and it honestly just had my laughing and grinning the whole time. I don’t regret losing sleep over this book.

And so ends my binge of the Cinnamon Roll Alphas, until Faith gets her HEA.
We have here a fake relationship with Aidan, aka Adonis as dubbed by Mabel because he's so pretty who's a reformed fuckboy and Thea, the commitment-phobe when it comes to all things in her life from her job to her relationships. She's a daddy's girl whose father died of cancer after a short illness when she was 6(?) and her mother turned around and married someone totally different from her dad within a year of his death who completely changed her personality, so girl's got issues.
Aidan and Thea make a deal to fake a relationship - he gets to rehabilitate his reputation as a rake and she gets a super-sweet deal on the renos for her dream home. But of course, what's fake becomes real and there's a black moment break-up before they get their HEA that's facilitated by her BFF, Faith and boss, Brendan, who I'm guessing will get his own HEA eventually.

After witnessing the devastation that love can cause Thea is determined to ensure that it will never happen to her. When Aiden approaches her with an arrangement that will allow her to realize her dream it is too good an offer to pass up even if it means pretending that they are a couple.

Aiden has always had a way with women however he is finding that his reputation is hurting his father’s business. Pretending to be in a relationship with Thea will go a long way towards repairing his reputation and will help Thea realize her dream as well. It’s a win-win, what could possibly go wrong?

Thea and Aiden have always been casual friends but now that they find themselves in close proximity they see each other in a different light and find out that they are destined to be so much more

Tempting Lies is a sweet, funny modern rom com. This book introduced me to Ms. Whitney and I am excited to give the other books in the series a try. This book is a swirl of delightful commentary, insecurity on both leads part, and the slow burn to fall in love.

The town playboy wants to clean up his image and the noncommittal town sweetie enter into an arrangement that is mutually beneficial. Ms. Whitney throws some waves into the picture - real life waves that crash along the shore. Waves, that we the readers could potential feel ripple through our own families to increase the story line. Who doesn't worry about finances, aging parents, and the uncertainties of working a job we don't love. Ms. Whitney does an excellent job of connecting with her readers. Looking forward to more from Ms. Whitney

Thea & Aiden both have commitment issues which takes different tolls on them. Thea has gotten a bit over the top from hers which always had a short expiration date, while Aiden had no reasons whatsoever to have them. She needs her house renovated while he needs a "fake" engagement to repair his playboy reputation.  Thea came off very whiny to me who couldn't see what was in front of her so she became very frustrating to me to the point that I wanted to shake the sense back into her. Like I already said, Aiden doesn't have one deep reason why he's like he is so he was a tad annoying. At least he got over it unlike her so the complications were coming in hot.  I will say this, even frustrated as all hell, I still didn't stop turning the pages quickly.  Please understand that this is only my opinion so decide for yourselves!  HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Seriously love Thea! She's had a less than normal childhood, a sad childhood, and so she's definitely been shaped by it. She lived next door to Aiden's family before she moved away. So she is definitely the girl next door. Aiden meanwhile, is a manwh*re, or at least he used to be. He's over it and the fact that it affects his job.

Aiden has the perfect solution for them both, Aiden will do Thea's dream home renovations and they will be in a "relationship". Which of course, who can't see the issues with a fake relationship?

I can't remember if I've read the other books in this series, and my internet is spotty right now. Ugh. Anyway, a great book to read and re-read because it was funny and entertaining from beginning to end.

I received this book free as an ARC reader for review.

What do you do with nobody you know thinks you’re capable of commitment? When nobody thinks that you’re responsible enough to own a dog, buy a house, or manage a work project? Well, you ran into an old friend, somebody you haven’t slept with lately, and decide to form a fake romance. Hopefully if the world sees that you can be in a committed relationship they’ll start to take you seriously.

I like this book because the characters were very real, very flawed, very empathetic people. This was no Insta love, hop in the bed, crazy whirlwind romance type of book. No, this was a pair of friends who allowed a fake romance to become real. It was scary for them. It’s scary for us all, and that makes the story relevant to most of us.

Thea and Aiden have known each other for years but now they are all grown up. Thea has had several jobs which has given her quite the list of qualifications and abilities. She gets bored pretty easily and doesn't keep a job for long. She does have a goal and that's to buy a house, a certain house. Aiden works in his familiy's construction business and plays in a band. He's has quite a reputation as a playboy. These two seem like an unlikely couple but truly do well together. They seem to bring out the best in each other so when they team up to help him overcome his reputation and she gets her house and updates, what we get are plenty of laughs and feels! This is my first book by Ms. Whitney and I truly enjoyed it! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Thea Blackwell needs help with renovations on her dream house, And Aiden Murdoch needs to repair his less than stellar reputation. It's the perfect solution for both of them. Thea agrees to be in a fake relationship with Aiden, and when her house is done they will both walk away. No ones feelings will be hurt. Right?
Compelling, sexy, and complex characters who realize just how empty their lives had been before their agreement, and how much they love each other when they walk away. Laugh out loud funny, and sweet romantic page turner with a happily ever after. Fantastic.

Sara Whitney is a new-to-me author that I will definitely need to binge the backlist of. I easily got into the story, which kept a nice fast pace and gave me vibes of other contemporary romance novels I love.

Tempting Lies is a fake-dating novel which I love, because you know the characters are perfect for each other and that they'll end up together in the end but watching them try to deny their feelings along the way makes it all the more fun. I also love the small town setting, that's something I've really enjoyed reading lately so it hit the spot.

Aiden and Thea have such great chemistry despite having hesitations about commitment and this book gives you all the feels.

Thea really wants her "princess house" but with all the renovations she just can't afford it. Aiden happens to be a contractor and needs to fix his reputation so when he makes a proposal to her she can't refuse. But feelings may become all to real. But the question really should be who falls first?

This was a fun real with some great side characters. I have never read her before so everyone was new to me. It kept good pace and while told in third person it was also details regarding both of them and I loved every minute of it. You want an overall sweet contemporary read this is definitely one to check out.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is the first book I have read from Sara. It is a funny romance with a lil drama thrown in. Their relationship is based on a case of You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours. It just so happens to give both of them so much more than they expected. Her past and his reputation are hurdles they have to get over to find their happy ending. I really enjoyed the characters and the writing in this book. I look forward to more from Sara

This runs the gamut of emotions, everything from humor, friendship, sickness, jealousy and love. This was such a fabulous read to this series, but can definitely read as a stand-alone. The characters were great as they complimented each other so well, they opened up to one another and felt that real connection between them. Enjoyed the supporting characters as they added depth to the storyline and helped steer them in the right direction. Loved the ending as the characters progressed and grew up to face their short comings together.

A great feel good story. Aiden has always had it easy with women and shied away from any kind of permanent relationship until he finds his playboy lifestyle is interfering with business. Thea has also been afraid to get attached to people and hasn't found a job that keeps her interest. both are running from any kind of permanancy.

Tempting Lies is the typical fake relationship story, but the characters make it definitely worth reading. Thea is quirky, kind hearted and fun. Aiden is the serious planner that ends up stumbling along until he finds himself in love. I look forward to reading more from Sara Whitney.

What it is
Former childhood pals Thea and Aidan reconnect when she needs an affordable contractor for her brand new fixer-upper home and he needs the appearance of a steady girlfriend to clean up his womanizing image.

Why I love it
Thea is the best friend you wish you had and Aidan is the fake boyfriend you’d love to find. When their playful banter gives way to something more substantial, you root for these two wounded souls to come to their senses and give love a shot.

Who will love it
If you enjoy fake relationship romcoms with a sweet slow burn. It has just the right blend of sass and steam. Sara Whitney’s smooth, upbeat prose is a delight to read. I devoured it fast. Too fast.
