Well, not being much of a cook but appreciating everything about cooking, sharing and enjoying food, this will probably be the only cookbook I read in 2021/2022.
This is a delightful book by the delightful Barnes' who have invited everyone into their homes online during the pandemic, in a welcoming and kind way.
This beautifully produced book is their way of sharing family recipes that have provided nourishment and comfort over the years. There's a wide range of cuisines from around the world, Jane's diplomat childhood really comes into play here. I really enjoyed her stories of food from the different places that she grew up.
This is a cookbook that is like a warm hug, not only for their family but for everyone who enjoys the comfort of family and family meals.

Excellently presented. Easy to read. Both the intros to each section from Jimmy and the Cook's Tales from Jane are insightful, add to the food story and are generally delightful. Nice range of recipes. Most are on the standard and easy side. A couple are fancy and there's a couple that are inspired. Of course. Your view of this would depend on your food background.

The pictures of the food, their property and the fam are great. The recipes have a nice layout and are easy to understand. There's a section dedicated entirely to potatoes which is always a winner for me. Haven't made anything yet but I'm sure it won't be long before I do so.

This would be an EXCELLENT Christmas gift for anyone who is a bit into cooking and also a fan of Jimmy Barnes.

Cookery, lifestyle and so much more. The recipes really work and are delicious. This is an insight into the extended Barnes family held together with a shared table and a lot of love. Jane and Jimmy Barnes both cook and cater for intimate gatherings and large numbers, the style is prepare well, cook with care and serve and relax, The photographs are gorgeous and although I thought I was buying a cookery book I have ended up with so much more.
Recommended for Jimmy Barnes fans and cookery book collectors.

I borrowed this book from my local library and after just a few pages in I had already decided it was a book I wanted on my bookshelf. It is so much more than a cookbook, it is a book of food stories and gorgeous photos of the Barnes’s home and surrounds and the recipe’s are simple family fare to inspire. Jane and Jimmy take us on a culinary journey, a mix of Scottish, Australian and Thai influences, the potato section had me drooling. Jimmy’s love of custard is right up there with mine, I too could drink the stuff!

Beautifully photographed, this is more than a cookbook...much more. It's a story of love and family told through the sorts of recipes you'd prepare to feed those you love. As I read I could picture the chaos of the household, the way a simple lunch becomes so much more, and the way two people from completely different upbringings and lives somehow found their way to each other and created it all.
