In the rough-and-tumble town of Deadwood in 1876, cowboy Sam Keegan is about as hard as they get. Considered a real sexy piece of man by the local womenfolk, Sam runs the town livery stable. And he was last seen in the company of a pretty gal in a wedding dress, Reese Winslow…who escaped one of the local brothels!
The little lady claims to be a doctor—from the future, no less! Beware of her, as she's causing no end of problems. Mostly for Sam, who is real skittish about the law. But trouble or not, the man can't seem to stop himself from wanting Reese…and learnin' firsthand what women from the future like to do with hot, hard cowboys!
Debbi Rawlins currently lives with her husband in Las Vegas, Nevada. A native of Hawaii, she married on Maui and has since lived in Cincinnati, Chicago, Tulsa, Houston, Detroit, and Durham, North Carolina during the past twenty years.
Now that she's had enough of the gypsy life, it'll take a crane, a bulldozer, and a forklift to get her out of her new home. Not that her friends would let her leave Las Vegas even if she wanted to. Debbi's home has become a retreat for writers from both coasts and her guest rooms are rarely empty.
My daughter was always telling me to watch some TV show, I’ve forgotten the name but I do remember that everything about it was dirty. Even inside the police station was dirty looking, most of the characters in the show were dirty. Anyway, that’s what I thought of this book. Doc’s place was a filthy mess and Reese and Sam lived in a livery, the people smelled like they never bathed, men and women alike. Everything was just too dirty for me. It was a good story about Quantril's raiders and the part Doc and Sam played in the massacres.
And the sexual tension was fantastic, as was the sex, and I would read this author again, hoping for something a little less dirty.
I listened to the audio version of this book, and if it weren't for the fact that the narrator was mediocre at best, I would have really enjoyed it a lot. I read books in the Blaze line periodically, and while they're generally ok, they usually aren't anything special. This one seemed to have more substance to it than the average Blaze. I liked the storyline and the characters and will definitely continue with the series (this is book 1 of the Stolen From Time series), but will probably switch to reading as opposed to listening for the rest of the books.
This is a short sweet, but somewhat abrupt story. There were parts of it that didn't feel complete, but overall it was OK. I didn't particularly like the ending, even with the epilogue. It was one of the abrupt parts.
I really wanted to like it, I just didn't feel the romance in this book. The only words he spoke to her ( most were growled or grumbled) was get back in the room, leave me alone, etc. That left me wondering where she got he cared or why she did. Felt it ended stupidly/abruptly ( guy was standing right so why did they run - on the horse in question - about stealing the horse. I had to roll my eyes. I'm glad there was an apologue so we could see a few months later where they were happy together.
This time travel story started out good with Dr Reese cleaning her deceased grandma's attic then falling back to 1876. She escapes a brothel with the help of cowboy Sam who has a past. Some pondering and near the end I started guessing possible outcomes and felt my ideas were better than actual ending.
I really liked this book. I was looking for it, but didn't know what it was called. I remember reading the next on in this miniseries. I liked the fast-paced scenes and time-travel angle. I always did like a happy ending. I don't know if there are more books besides the Sam and Jack ones, I'll have to look into that, but these are great books. I would definitely read this book again. Enjoy
