The Spector Inspectors are on the trail of a demon and just met a ghost. The problem is, that's the good news. Turns out Cape Grace has a whole lot of secrets and none of those are good.
This series gets better and better with each issue. I love the storyline, the small town mystery, the paranormal activity we have in each book and I just love the characters. Each and every one of them.
I am very excited to be talking about graphic novels again! I always love reading a graphic novel (whether it be a one-off, a long-running series I am interested in, or just something I am trying), I think graphic novels are great and often help me from hitting a reading slump or help me to clear my mind after reading a book that I did not get along with very well. One graphic novel series, I have kind of picked up (I am not sure if I would call it long-running like Saga or Giant Days quite yet but I think it definitely has that potential), is Specter Inspectors! I have been reading this series on Hoopla and really enjoying my time with each issue! So without further ado let’s jump into issue four (which is my most recently read issue)!
SPOILERS AHEAD
In this issue, we check back in with the group as they continue to try to figure out the things happening in Cape Grace. After encountering the weird group in the last issue, the group is very nervous about what might be happening with the town and this group, as well as their possessed friend. As they continue into their newest destination they quickly realize this town, has a lot more to unfold than they could have ever guessed and now they are not sure what they are going to do next!
I am still enjoying my time with this series. The characters are great, I love each of their designs! I think the general art design of each issue, is amazing, I love the lines and the colors. I am also enjoying the mystery that is unfolding within this story. I am very excited to learn more about the group we encountered as well. I feel as though this graphic novel has old-school Scooby-Doo vibes, and I really enjoy it! I will be picking up issue five with my next set of Hoopla borrows!
"What's a human life worth to you?" "Absolutely nothing."
Oh my, akjdsklfjzakljvsd, this is just getting better and better? #4 is the best issue so far and it's honestly been a long time since I read such a good comic series. I like all the characters (including the ghosts), I love the ~creepy vibe and the story is well-built.
This one could have been a little longer, maybe a little more camping. Once it's all bound together into a volume, maybe it works better. I can say this series works for middle grade, as well as high school. So far it's very PG for light spooky stuff.
A lot of searching and one sweet moment involving a small child ghost aside, I’m extremely worried for Astrid going into this next comic issue. Also, the guy with the black eyes creeps me out greatly.
This series is fun, and the upcoming collected edition is gorgeous. The characters are interesting and definitely have Scooby Doo vibes. If you liked that, read this! The art also really pops.
I'm really enjoying this series to far, with the humor, drama, and mystery. It's kind of sad to think it'll end soon, but that's batter than dragging it out endlessly as the quality drops.
Yipes! The pacing and tone/mood of this series really is excellent, and the color palette is such a big part of creating that mood. I wish that this got a longer run so that there was a little breathing room to let the characters develop their relationships more, but that's just a preference and some wishful thinking.
#4 picks up some of the slack left behind from #3, and keeps me interested in the story, as well as, more specifically, Astrid's internal conflict with her demon. I can't wait for the finale!
