Tiffany Keyes is the one of the best problem-solvers the Union has ever had. They send her all over the universe to handle disruptions any way she sees fit. She hates them but it isn’t like she has a lot of options and she’s determined not to end her life the same way she started it: in the dead zone.
When she arrives on what is not affectionately referred to as Planet Cat to deal with the notoriously isolationist lion shifters she has heard nothing good about, she finds herself in a situation she’s never been in before—the leaders of the planet are absolutely certain she’s their mate.
They are strong, difficult, and in charge of an entire planet. Now, they have no intention of letting her go until they’ve convinced her that what they can scent is real. She is theirs. But Tiffany knows nothing in her life goes that simply. She can’t be their mate, she’s not one of their species. This can’t be real. Only it is starting to feel that way. More and more every day. Tiffany is used to complications but this might be one even she can’t solve. She might have to just go for it. And damn the consequences.
*Please note, this is a full-length novel with a strong heroine and three heroes who sometimes shift to become lions. It is part of the Shifter’s World series where every book is a stand-alone with a happily ever after. You do not need to have read anything else to read this book. There are no cliff-hangers. *
This is the second book in Rebecca's Shifter's World series but can be read as a standalone. If you want to read the other book in this series, check out Planet Bear. Planet Cat is the first book that Rebecca has released in a hot minute but she did not disappoint. PC gives us everything we have come to expect from a RR book.
Strong, independent, kick A heroine ✔ Hot, Alphas who don't know how to handle their new love interest ✔ Sexy times with said hot alphas ✔ A story that sucks you in and keeps you glued to your book ✔ Well developed characters✔
What more could you ask for?
In Planet Cat, Tiffany is our main girl and we get the whole book in her POV. She was born in a place that most people don't get out of. Losing her mother at a young age, she was determined to make something out of herself. So she became a BA Union Rep and did what she had to do. The Union was her whole world. Until she landed on Planet Cat for an assignment and her whole world shifted. Ha, see what I did there. It is there that she meets three lion shifters that start claiming things she doesn't want to hear. Being the tough chick she is, she blazes on with her mission. It takes the guys a while to break her barriers down and it's so beautiful when they do. Of course it can't be just a happy ever after that quick. There are some villains in this book that come and try to steal the show. Tiffany does a great job of putting them in their place. One thing I always love about RR's books, she knows how to write a strong female.
So overall, I think this was a great book and I really enjoyed the story. I can't wait to see what we get with Planet Wolf.
Thank you to Rebecca Royce for the complimentary review copy. I am choosing to leave a fair and honest review. Like many books written during the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic, Planet Cat is a beautiful jewel that was shaped and polished by the tensions of nearly a year in quarantine. The lead character, Tiffany, is a frustrated woman who wants nothing more than do her job so that she can put herself in a position where she can retire. She is sent to Planet Cat by her employer to work out some kind of agreement. While there, she meets with three lion shifters – leaders of the Cats – who insist she is their true mate. Tiffany may one day be the Elizabeth Bennett of Reverse Harem Romance. She is a fully formed character, not just a stand in for the reader. She is smart and capable. She has her own plans and her own needs. Her three men aren't quite as well-baked as she. They are cute, cuddly and each fills a spot in her life. Because she handles all the narration, we never see the men on their own. The planet is a great world-build. Ms. Royce overturned the normal political and trade systems because these are Cats. The story and the love story build slowly as Tiffany finds her feet in this new place. The love scenes, in this case they are love scenes not sex scenes are beautiful. The Planet Shifter series is a wonderful read and I can't wait to go to Planet Wolf.
I don't really have all that much to say about this book. For me it was a short and simple read.
While I don't really have any cons for this book I can't necessarily say that I kept my attention either. I will say though that I really enjoyed how fated mates were represented in this book. The main FMC didn't immediately fall in love with the H's and they didn't push her to either. They realized how uncomfortable she was and kept it at her own pace. I also must say that the idea of different shifter planet was fascinating and I wish more was done with the idea. While I did like the book I don't think I'll continue the series only because my attention wasn't captured throughout the whole book.
All in all I like it and maybe at some point i'll continue the journey with the other shifter planets.
I liked Planet Bear, so I was really excited to see this book was coming out. Tiffany is sent to Planet Cat to investigate missile launches that have hit passing spacecraft. Once she lands, three lions claim she's their mate. So, I knew there would be instalove with the fated mates in this one, (which I pretty much love). It just fell a little flat in places. The dialogue was really stilted for a while, and the three males weren't really distinguishable from each other except one was older and the boss. Some of the characteristics of the men and actions they took were what house cats would do, not lions, which bugged me. It was a little bit 'generic cat' in places.
I felt it was kind of average and bland. I had higher expectations for this book. Nearly half of the book the FMC Tiffany was standoff-ish toward her mates William, Oscar, and Casper, who are alpha lions. I don't know how to describe this book other than I found it a little bland and no spice or excitement. I can say the FMC had a very bad upbringing which made her into the standoff-ish and cold person in the beginning. I was glad to see her character growth and let her males in and let herself feel the warm emotions of happiness, joy, and love that she did not have growing up.
I did catch some errors and typos throughout the book. Like some punctuation and grammar, and the error of switching character names.
There was only the FMC POV in this book. Sexiness: 3 out of 5
I really loved this. First, I’ll say that the character and world building were great and really allowed me to have feelings for these characters. I also love that this was kind of a switch, with our girl being a boy shut off, work driven, focused on her goals and the guys were all so easy to love right away. The natural progression for their relationship and the love they end up with, made this such a fantastic read. So good.
Wow I really love reading Planet Cat. This is the first book I read by Rebecca Royce and I love how she developed the characters and gives us the their past.
Tiffany has always had a hard life from childhood to now. She works for the Union and she doesn’t likes her job or asshole boss but it is all she knows. They sends her to Planet Cat to solve a missile problem. Because of events she arrives at the planet a day early that is how she meet the brothers.
The leader of the Planet Cat is William, Casper, and Oscar. They heard a ship land and meet it. At first they going back and forth between each until the brothers catch Tiffany’s scent. And theirs loins realize that Tiffany is theirs true mate. When they tell her about her being their mate and how it is on their planet is incredible. But seeing her reaction and learning all she has been through. You just want her to realize that she can be happy if she would just trust them. I love all their journey to their Hea. But it does have ups and downs.. But their ending is perfect.
Planet Cat has some fantastic characters with incredible chemistry. Rebecca Royce carry’s us on a journey with the storyline. Planet Cat will definitely be one of favorite shifter. And I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I'm not sure how much or not I will say about this book. But I inclined to write a lot. But always try my best to rate a book fair. Though, every rating is a subjective.
This book is apparently the second book of the Shifter's World series. I didn't know that before. Because this book was shown to me as the first book in the series. Only later, I have seen there is indeed another book and that it was republished. So, I think, that's the reason why this one was shown first.
Had I known that beforehand, I would have read chronologically. So, I can't say if it had changed anything or give me more insight if I had read book 1. I read it, mostly, because it was a book with Lion shifters. Feline shifter stories exists, but I see them more rarely, than books with wolves, bears or dragons. So, when I see books with feline shifters and the blurb interested me, I just read them.
I don't regret it with this book. It was a good one. Though, to tame for my taste. This book had fated mates. So, there is, of course, insta-love or insta-attraction. But Tiffany Keyes, the FMC, isn't one to give in easily and needs to be convinced. A good and authentic FMC is one of the things, that is important for me.
Because I mostly will read from their perspective. And if I hate the FMC, it's hard to read the whole book without a headache. Tiffany was ok, as I said. I could understand where she comes from. Though, I was sometimes irritated with her, too. Of course, characters could be stubborn. But it shouldn't be too much. In her case, it felt a lot like sabotaging herself and refuse for the wrong reasons. I know it has to do with her trauma. But... I have read characters like her often, and I wished there would be a better solution to it. At least, she wasn't stupid. And that I like about her again.
Male characters are the same thing. In much every book I read, I get the same types of them. One is the leader and mostly a little older. One calm, but intelligent. And then one of the friendly/cozy/sweet, the female typically could rely on. Here it's a bit mixed or more accurate, they share a lot of the typical traits. They all were sweet with her. All of them were mostly calm and act intelligent. And were very much cozy. As human and as a lion.
There is action/violence too. But it isn't much or deeply described. The steam of the sexual content is there, but it's a lot more sweet than anything spicy.
It was a nice and calm read for me. That's not bad. But it's nothing special either. Just a good read, that is relaxing. I only was disappointed in the ending. Not in the negative way. More like, it was too short, and it didn't solve much from the book. We don't know what will happen with the Union or if Tiffany had reached out to Free Earth coalition (which wasn't mentioned anywhere before) and if they were able to do anything. And even if I know that Ferguson gets what I deserved, I wished I could have read the whole interrogation and all (Drew's punishment, maybe new changes after the situation with Knox, and what is with the true matings?)
But can't change that now. Overall, I would give the book 3.5 to 4 stars (for rating 4). Some parts were better than others.
Tiffany was supposed to be on a much needed vacation. Instead she's being pulled off her surfboard and dragged to a backwater shifter planet because the fools are firing missiles at Union ships. Now she has to figure out a very different social structure, tech, and emotions she's not used to. Because, right after she's shot out of the sky, the 3 representatives she meets each take a deep breath and claim she's their mate. Just no.
Spoilers ahead.
I've read most of her Last Hope series and her collaboration Heart Of The Nebula series. So, seeing new sci-fi romance by her I jumped in. The books are listed Planet Cat, then Bear, but Bear should come first. They're described as connected standalones, but they feature the same universe. Tiffany was a stilted character starting off. She's very reserved and methodical. But, learning her history brings the reasons for that reserve home. The guys are not as nuanced in character. They aren't 2D, but without their POV we only get the conversations she's part of to decipher. Tiffany works for the company that ruined her life. Ruined her mother's life. There isn't another option for employment that will get her out of poverty, though. Better to be a protected employee, than another of their victims. She has hidden depths, some don't get revealed until 3/4 of the way through. They make sense, considering her job, but her character has developed a lot fr the beginning. Some of those actions don't fit who she's becoming, and seem jarring. While her emotional side may be being released, she's not afraid to choke it back to do what needs done. The dichotomy made for an interesting story. There's a lot going on within the story, as well as within the characters. If you haven't read Royce before, this would be a good launch point. It shows the writing skill without the angst of the Last Hope dystopian series. I still have questions, but I'm going to go back and read Bear before asking since Amazon suggested Cat first. It may contain some of the world building that isn't present in Cat.
Tiffany Keyes did the impossible. She got out of the Dead Zone. She travels the universe working for the Union. As their problem solver, she is sent on mission after mission to handle any disruption to their order. Her latest job is on Planet Cat, one of the shifter planets to find out who is shooting missiles off the planet. As isolationists, not much is known about the planet or its inhabitants. Arriving unexpectedly earlier, she is greeted by the planet's main leaders, a trio of brothers. Brothers who claim she is their mate. Tiffany thought she was prepared for any situation; she was wrong.
For the first time ever I did not fall immediately in love with a Rebecca Royce heroine. Tiffany was too Union-oriented, too by the book. She was so closed off. However, this just made me like her more as she opened herself up. I loved learning about her history. It made her personality understandable and illustrated her strength, resilience, and intelligence as much as her Union position did. She came alive page by page. Her heart's wishes to feel safe, have food, and a few luxuries moved me. What those luxuries were cemented my love for her. I didn't have the same problem warming up to the guys. I loved the cats. I love how they carried subtle and not-so-subtle characteristics of cats while being all men. I love how they were with Tiffany. I loved how they were with their people. I loved the planet as well. It was a simple existence, yet filled with richness. The people indulged in what mattered. I think I could be very happy there myself. I wasn't ready for it to end. I wanted to know if Tiffany got her bright wardrobe and if her house was colorful. I wanted to take walks with her and Know and know if her relationship with Nicole turned into best friends. And I wanted more time with Tiffany and her cats.
Tiffany Keyes was about to surf the Cyclops, a wave she has been promising herself to conquer forever. She's more than a little upset with her boss Ferguson as he calls her to duty. There are missiles being fired from Planet Cat but the governing body says it's not happening. That's where Tiffany's expertise comes in.
Her trip was going to plan until they began orbiting the planet, then they are shot at. Her captain avoids it but insists on landing early to prevent actually getting hit. Landing on a Shifter planet a day early is ill advised, but Tiffany would handle it. With the town not in sight the Captain was a bit hesitant to leave her, but didn't argue when she insisted he find and analyze the missile.
The next thing she knows she's surrounded by three male lion shifters, she was supposed to be met by females but that not until noon tomorrow.
Angering these men was not advisable even though they were amused by her weapon. After a sort of altercation they start again, this time with introductions. The lions are William, Oscar and Casper and they are the leaders of the planet and as it is about to rain they wanted to get out of it quickly.
An interesting relationship begins almost from the start and Tiffany begins to wonder just what kind of affect this planet or these shifters were having on her. Apparently they have some crazy notion she is their true mate.
I thoroughly enjoyed this romp on Plant Cat, it's suspenseful, fun, romantic and has plenty of sizzle.
When Tiffany is sent to Planet Cat, world of lion shifters, to find out who is shooting missiles at Union ships, she teams up with the 3 leaders, brothers, to investigate. Planet Cat is a huge mystery, and I loved the way Tiffany was so keen to learn. Even though she was a total “company girl”, and there to do her job, she was sincerely interested in the people and culture. I love the way Rebecca Royce writes sci-fi romance. So much of it is matter of fact, and badass plot, and twisty mystery, the romance part is almost subtle. And then it’s not, hot shifter dudes got the girl. And it’s not just the romance that starts off subtle. Our FMC here started off seeming completely in control, total badass, and cold hard boss working for the “Union”. Throughout the story though, we start to see just how human she is, just how hard she has worked to keep herself together and claw her way out of traumatic beginnings. She made me think of a storm trooper, convincing herself to work for the Empire, because it’s the only way to save herself. Or Nebula, working for Thanos. Ok, they might be extreme examples, but that was the vibe I was getting. Just layers of character. And the guys. For like, 5 seconds, I thought I was going to find them overbearing and pushy. But they really weren’t. They definitely were sure of themselves, but they were also patient and thoughtful. They were leaders and fighters, and totally backed our girl up. This story was so easy to read, paced great, world was rich and clear, and steamy in all the right places. Looking forward to the next one. 💜
Once again the author gave us an exceptional book!

I love the RH and all her guys and i loved the story. The characters were all really strong willed and loved how the dynamics between them formed. Also i enjoy reading a book were the FMC is a strong independent woman who the men don't boss around. Easy to read and steamy as hell this book is a promise to a great start of a new series.

Heather's Notes I really liked this story. I liked that Tiffany was strong and intelligent. I really liked that she got to save Will. I have to say I wasn't really a fan of the other names, Oscar and Casper, but they weren't awful. I would have loved to see her boss get what was coming to him, but it was cutoff. Still a good book and looking forward to the next one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This was a fun shifter story to read! I really enjoyed the characters in this one because there was so much change happening between them all. Tiffany at the start was such a closed off stick in the mud, but as the story continued she began to let down her walls, open up to the three Lions, and begin to live her life for herself instead of for the Union. Although Tiffany changed drastically in character, the Lions were pretty consistent throughout the book, in good way. They were part beast but they were some of the sweetest men to Tiffany, treating her in ways she had never thought she'd ever be treated, supporting her in any way they possibly could, and never pushing her for more. Letting her go at her own pace for everything, including with them, was so nice to see. There wasn't ever any real pressure from them for her to be with them, just a promise that they would take care of her in any way they could no matter what. This allowed the feelings and attraction to build up in a more organic way for her since she's never experienced anything like love before. Life hadn't been kind to her but a planet full of people that weren't even human showed her more compassion and love than anyone on earth had in her entire life. I'm excited to read the next shifter planet book to see how the wolves treat their woman.
One of my favorite type of reverse harem books is paranormal. I love to just get lost in a different world, filled with magic, and shifters, and intriguing characters. So Planet Cat sounded right up my alley. It started off a bit slow as we get introduced to Tiffany and her job and the explanation between the different planets and how it differs from Earth. But as you get further into the story, you get hooked right in. Right away, the guys, who are smoking hot btw, sense that Tiffany is their mate but she is slow on the uptake. She refuses to believe that a human girl, an employee of the Union. The very organization that these three guys despise. But the chemistry between Tiffany and the guys is downright tangible. These three alpha lion shifters are exactly what you think. They are firm and no nonsense but they treat Tiffany like she’s their equal, not an outsider, because a human girl mated to Lion shifters? Definitely not common in this world. But Oscar, William and Casper adore Tiffany and it was so great to watch the relationship between Tiffany and each of the guys develop.
What would you do if you ended up on a foreign planet and you are told that you are the mate of not one but three men? This is what awaits Tiffany when she arrives on Planet Cat. Can Tiffany truly find happiness in this new world or is it all to good to be true?
I enjoyed this new world and its characters. Tiffany is a strong woman who can hold her own and her men are a good match for her. The emotions shine throughout this story, and I loved seeing the relationship that Tiffany and the men have develop and deepen. Each of the men has a strong and different personality but they work well together and with Tiffany. It was nice to see the way they treated Tiffany and how she blossomed with their love. Once Tiffany lets Casper, Will and Oscar in the men will do anything to show her what she is worth. Their story moved at a good pace and grabbed my attention right from the start and kept me engaged all the way to the end.
I’ve said it before, and now I’m saying it again—no one does reverse harem like Rebecca Royce! All the characters in this book are so well-rounded and real. Yes, I know shifters aren’t technically real (sadly) but they certainly feel that way in this book. These characters feel like real people with real problems, real histories, and real trauma. And there’s also real love that develops between them. It doesn’t necessarily come easy, but that just makes it that much more precious. The world building in this book is also nothing short of fantastic. Ms. Royce gives the reader a very clear picture of Planet Cat and it’s culture and people. It’s quite a feat to make the paranormal seem normal, but Rebecca Royce does it beautifully time and again. Bottom line, this is just an enthralling and heartfelt love story. And once you start it, you won’t want to put it down.
* I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All of my opinions are honest and entirely my own.
Overall I think this has a pretty interesting story line. I think I would have liked it more if I could have seen more into the inner relations or politics of the Planet Cat and the surrounding planets and the union. It seems like there is a lot of background that could have been gone into that wasn’t. The romance and the development of the characters was pretty spot on though. Tiffany has a pretty specific goal of what she wants for herself so to see that evolve and change throughout the book as her life changes upon meeting the guys is pretty interesting, because your life always changes when you meet someone, there are always compromises and different decisions that have to be made now that there is someone else in your life to think about.
This is the kind of book I needed after being in the dark romance hole for a few months 😀. It is light hearted, funny, and a feel good kind of book. Rebecca Royce put a whole new spin on the shifter/fated mates trope and I really enjoyed it. This is a stand-alone reverse harem lion shifter sort of Alien (but not really) romance.
What I liked most about this particular shifter romance was that even though there was a fated mates concept it wasn’t insta-love (blah). These lions had to prove themselves to our fmc. She didn’t necessarily always make that easy either. She is from a different world and she is used to taking care of herself.
If you like futuristic, alien worlds, reverse harem, shifters and strong fmc’s then this is for you.
Planet Cat was a treat to read. Tiffany is this tough negotiator that gets things done on the behalf of her Employer, the Union. The story took time to give Tiffany good depth and for me to see what her motivations were and why. Once her boots hit the ground on Planet Cat, all bets for her negotiation skills were off. The men she runs into William, Casper, and Oscar, all keep her spinning and guessing. The intrigue of the story going along combined with the steam factor and warm fuzzies was page turning. I really enjoyed envisioning this world that the author built were a strong pint of a woman from the pits was a perfect match for 3 huge alpha men that didn't know what to expect from her.
I have loved all the books That I have read by Rebecca Royce. She does an amazing job of creating a whole intricate universe that really enthralls the reader.
This book was absolutely AMAZING! I devoured it and couldn’t put it down. The world Royce created was an awesome mix of fiction and entertainment! I loved being able to view this strange new world through Tiffany’s eyes. She encounters a completely different culture on a strange new planet but they embrace one another’s differences.
I completely and wholly recommend you read this book and the other in the series, “Planet Bear”. Also if you love it look into some of her other series.
From the title, cover, and description, I thought this book was going to be really stupid and cringy. But it's surprisingly not! The world building was really good. I actually loved the character of Tiffany. She's strong and really cool which is surprising.Because I don't know many expect that from a character named tiffany who I associate with like being a girly girl or beauty queen. This is a nice little comforting book.Even though there is a plot line that is a little bit action based. The MMC's are so nice and reverent. And it's just refreshing to see her come into her own and learn to enjoy herself.
Cat shifters and reverse harem = great read! Take on a big wave is what she wants to do instead she's off to planet Cat. Once there everything she thought is turned around by 3 hot guys and now her life won't be the same. She finds out that finding those right persons (or lions) makes you better. The author does a great job letting you get to know the characters, always a plus, and you see how well they work together and make changes so their relationships work better. A definite must read!
As you can tell from the title this involves science fiction as this problem solver Tiffany seems to be the best. She is sent all over the universe and that is alot of territory to have to cover. You are told she does not really like it but is better than where she could be. Now in this universe there is one planet called Cat and shifters are on this. They also are certain she is their mate. You find out that this is a fascinating kind of puzzle problem for her to solve. Turn the pages to see how she approaches them and what she discovers.
“Planet Cat is the kind of paranormal reverse harem story that gives you all. A strong FMC, humor, mystery and danger. Plus three hot guys with out off the charts steamy scenes so yes, this story had it all to make you fall in love chapter by chapter.
The moment Tiffany landed on Planet Cat and met Casper, Will and Oscar nothing was ever going to be the same. This three lion shifter brothers that knew how to broke Tiffany cold barrier (she put up a fight) and seal their fate.
A great story with a deep connection between the guys and Tiffany with a flawless ending.”
MeWOW! Rebecca's recipe with a blend of sci-fi and shifter is five star! This being my first cat shifter read had me wondering about the differences between cat and wolf as they seem to be similar. And yet not. This MC was a tough nut to crack. I loved watching this one play out. Is there more? Yes, I suspect we will see what happens with all three planets in the next book. So many possibilities!
This was the first Sci fi book I have read in a long time and I was a bit worried that it would be too far out of my usual paranormal genre for me to enjoy. Planet Cat, although it is set on another planet and has technology beyond anything we have yet, doesn't really read as a Sci fi and is more a shifter book. Fast paced, action filled and a touch of mystery mixed in with a bit of true mates and you have yourself a solid RH. I really enjoyed this book!
Having escaped from the dead zone, Tiffany Keyes still feels trapped. She hates working for the Union but it is a means to an end. When she is shot down and crash lands on Planet Cat, her reception is not quite what she planned for. I loved this story. In theory is is the second book following on from Planet Bear. Usually there is a more noticeable back story, however it seems to be more subtle this time. An easy flowing, well crafted tale. Another winner.
