Alex Miller finally secured the area around the ruins of Ragan with his undead. And now he started building a city with the Earth Mages he hired in Tsarigrad. But there is a problem: Those bastards are expensive. Where can he find enough gold for his big project? He can’t just steal that much money from someone… Right?
I am not sure the point of this series anymore. It has been a year since the last book came out so I can't understand why this book had such a rushed feel to it. This book had more spelling and grammar problems than any other book I have ever read. This book was kind of a waste of time. There was no real progression in the story. No character development. No progression of powers. There was a lot of sex talk and all the women talked about their husband being such a pervert but there was very little actual sex described. The MC has 20 wives and they all had the same personality. They nagged the MC over an over again. This was never going to be a great series but it could have been at least okay. I have no idea where the author is taking the story now though.
Book 3 continues the downward trend of this story. Alex is becoming more demon like, and while he has some great ideas (a medieval version of Victoria's Secret) they don't get the time they deserve.
Instead, we spend a long time hunting down bandits. It becomes tedious, and takes up a good portion of the book as they gather all the loot up and move to the next one.
The ending is solid as the whole plan is revealed, but it can't make up for half a book not being very exciting.
Besides the bandits, we see a lot of Alex and his wives arguing, fighting, and basically being not very nice people. Alex has the ability to turn things around so he seems reasonable, but then it's back to fighting and arguing.
Not fun.
With the last of the bandits gone at the end of book 3, I'm hoping we go back to Estaria soon and build up that region. The entirety of Russia is devoid of monsters because of Alex's monsters, so I'm hoping he pushes into new lands to explore and conquer.
I rarely say this, but I think the harem is more of a problem here than it usually is in other books.
There are no notifications at all in book 3.
Anyway, the book is a quick read. I would have given it 3/5* for the reasons above until we got to the ending, with Alex walking away with more slaves and money (plus a castle, manor house, and ten stores), but the middle is not a fun read.
Could have been a good book and series if the author had any ability to spell or use grammar. There is between 1 and 5 errors on EVERY page. Run instead of ran, this instead of these. It looks like he typed the book on his phone and just let auto correct do whatever it wanted. Then used Google translate to convert it to Greek, then Russian, Mandarin, Swahili and finally back to English.
Ok, so this series is almost as funny as the MC thinks he is. The MC is absolutely a hero, just a mercenary one. The author does a great job slowly evolving the characters without giving up what makes the MC so entertaining. Really like this series, wish there was another out.
The MC is a little power hungry and a womanizer. Not necessarily a bad thing for this book but it does make it a little hard to like him sometimes. There is a tongue and cheek humor going on which makes the story lighter and fun to read.
The mc is nothing like you've read before. He's no hero. He's just a pervert who wants to finance his city. The sex scenes are to the point. The writing is full of humor and typos. Lol, was worth it to continue this Harem Lord's journey.
The already overpowered MC turned into a moody Grinch. Bad dialog, bad main character, moral standards of a depraved sexual predator combined with a sleazy banker, boring book.
The first of this series, I loved and put 5*. The second book was like written by a horny teenager but still had some nice elements, so 3*. This one, I couldn't go even through the first couple of chapter and gave up.
Again, lost a star because the author needs a much better editor. For example, constantly using "leech" when meaning "lech" from the context. Otherwise a fun romp with an OP MC who does bust his own arse to make himself OP.
This is objectively not a "good" book. But man, it's a fun book. The transition is sketchy at times, but honestly it's part of the charm. Give the series a shot, it's the novel equivalent of an 80s action flick.
i loved the first two books, the third book not so much. the erratic behavior of the mc became too intense, and jarring. i also did not like the increase in toxicity of his wives.
Okay. This book series is getting a bit old. I really like the action, but I despise the MC more with every sentence I read. So, I think I'm out. Still, if you like the previous book, you'll probably like this one.
I don't know if the author is a native English speaker, and just used Google translate, but there are so many grammatical errors as well as wrong words.
I am obsessed with this series. It gets better and better as time goes on. That ending was awesome and I cannot wait to see what happens next. Interested in his territory.
The world & characters are very interesting & compelling. However, those are the only thing motivating the reader to continue reading. Even the protagonist is rather two dimensional. He has desires & goals but we fail to be shown why he cares. The other characters are in a similar state, where the villain has the most depth & that is not saying much.
For instance, the protagonist is building an entire town out of granite. Yet we fail to be shown why he wants that town. The audience is ‘told’ through exposition, but expecting that to satisfy the reader is full of fail. Generally exposition should be deleted unless the author knows howto do it right. Hint: 99% of writers fail to know how to do it right.
The wives are shown more as trophies than actual people with their own wants, needs, goals, & ghosts. The number of women who tie themselves to the protagonist as a wife is large. Therefore, the author may be better off having half, or more, of them accomplishing some other task their family wants done, but away & off-screen from the story. That would lead enough room for possible new romances… romances instead of fr4k buddies. & a better villain that challenges the protagonist to evolve past whatever characters defect that drives him through the story.
The first couple books are a lot more enjoyable to read by me. These problems were still present but the protagonist was less of a Marty Stu. The author’s world & characters deserve a better Hero’s Journey, think do I.
For sharing Gravity, grateful to you am I. May the Lady be asked to lighter a path toward’s love joy & happiness along the self’determined life’cycle chosen by the higher’self of yours by you, pray do I. 😅 🌒🌕🌘
I like that you are basically setting up for the next book and will enjoy the next iteration of the series, and I love how you make him hunting all of the bandits in the forest
