When Brandy Trentler’s wealthy family insists she marry the jerk who cheated on her, she signs up for the Stryxian mate lottery. Who knew her number would be drawn in the first round? Nothing goes right after that—the transport ship is attacked, she is captured by the enemy Morr-ta aliens and thrown in prison.
When a gorgeous Stryxian warrior rescues her, she thinks she’s won freedom and her fated mate, but he has some big, bad secret and apparently, it’s a deal breaker for him. Kando Cardax probably shouldn’t go back into the enemy’s lair to rescue the human female, but he cannot leave her to certain death. He also cannot hide his metal cyborg parts from her forever, especially since with each passing moment, he’s falling in love with her.
Passions flare as the two take refuge in a hidden section of the enemy base, but a discovery that could upend the Morr-ta war makes their odds of survival slim. Kando will do anything to protect Brandy as they fight to flee the enemy base, even if it means revealing himself as a cyborg to save her. All he’s known is fear and aversion to cyborgs like him. Why should he expect Brandy to react any differently? And how will he let her go when he is asked to make the ultimate sacrifice to save both the Stryxian and human species?
This is book 2 in the Stryxian Alien Warriors series. I write what I love to read, so there is always consent and a happy ending, and never cheating or cliffhangers. Enjoy!
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💙❤️💚 Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙 World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎 Character development: 😊😘😟🤓 Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration Type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Brandy - she comes from a wealthy human family on Earth. Her parents expected a lot of her. When she caught her fiancee cheating on her with two other women, and they still expected her to marry him, she rebelled by signing up for the Stryxian lottery. Stryxians are a race of aliens who helped Earth in a battle with the Morr’ta and in exchange, wanted females to mate with because their race had lost many of their females due to low birth rates.
The Hero:Kando - he is a Stryxian cyborg spy. He went aboard a Morr’ta spaceship using hologram skin to disguise himself as a Morr’ta warrior. He was trying to intercept and save one of his assets from execution and get her away to her own home world. He had been a Stryxian warrior who, during their war with the Morr’ta had been taken captive and experimented on and turned into a cyborg.
The Story: When the space shuttle Brandy was on, taking her to Stryxia was invaded by the Morr’ta she was put in an escape pod which was picked up by the Morr’ta ship. She meets Kando in the prison cell before she is removed and taken to the Lab to be experimented on. The Morr’ta were happy to get a human female as she was their first. Meanwhile, Kando had rescued the spy he came for, but returned to the Morr’ta ship to rescue Brandy. The lab brought back horrific memories for him, but he was determined to save Brandy.
I love cyborgs, so this cyborg alien story was a good one. Kando thought he would never have a mate because he was turned into a cyborg and also because he thought his soul was removed which is what bonds to a mate. Brandy was a good character as well, though at times she was very much a damsel in distress and hid behind Kando when things got dicey. However, she was great in the spaceship when she had to take on firing at the Morr’ta ships, her gaming expertise came in handy and she did a great job.
This book was told in two points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Zachary Johnson and Elle Sonali. Both of these narrators have pleasing voices. Elle sounds intelligent and age appropriate for Brandy while Zachary has a nice deep voice which is perfect for the seven-foot-tall alien males.
In this one, our human Brandy got captured and thrown into a baddy alien jail, where she meets our hero: the spy Kando who has infiltrated the jail to break out one of his informants. Fated mates, sneaky-sneaky, escape, alien romance plot… you know how it goes!
I am absolute trash for a fated mates + horny because ‘reasons’ alien romance. Love an alien guy who is completely obsessed, bonus points for an intense secret agent guy. I love when the human heroine is lusting after the hero thinking ‘what that alien D do?’ 😆 And this version of ‘aliens who who highly value women and relationships’ was even more delicious because a part of the whole jail breakout thing involved Kendo hiding that he’s a cyborg—which had him feeling extra undeserving of Brandy 🥺
The steam was steaming and the romance was sweet. The story lost me a bit during the more high action parts (I have a one-track mind, okay?) and I wish the author had doubled down on the ‘Brandy is a rich brat’ characterization—but that could be me liking unlikable heroines more than the average person.
Just your typical girl in love with a cyborg romance. When I finished the first book I was intrigued with Kando and I liked the intro to Brandy. It was dramatic and actually made me a little claustrophobic. Once the action switches to the Marrta ship, much like Kando and Brandy, the story meandered off the beaten path and I lost my way a bit. It just felt like so many things fell into place in an obvious way. So, while I’m still intrigued with this ‘verse, this wasn’t my fave.
I really enjoyed these characters, if anything would have liked more development and character traits that showed their personalities and pasts, especially for Brandy. But Kando was an amazing sexy and fun Hero and I liked the idea of the spoiled Brandy connecting with him.
I had to think about this one before reviewing. It was just ok. I liked book one, but this story between a rich-girl-fleeing-her-scummy-rich-boyfriend and a Stryxian Cyborg who "isn't worthy of her" just didn't do it for me. The writing is still good, just not the story.
Stryxian Alien Warrior Series. Like most alien novels, there was a galactic war. And like most alien romance novels, it involves human women for brides. The Morr-tas attacked Earth. The Stryxians came to our aide under the condition that once the war was over, Earth provided females for Stryxian males. They were having some issue with only producing male offspring and it was jeopardizing the future of their race. Earth was running a little short on men due to sending them all as soldiers to fight the battle. This series takes place at the point where the Morr-ta war was won, and it is time to pay up (by the means of women). All unattached women of child bearing age were entered into a lottery. Once picked, they were shipped to a settlement where they would choose their alien to mate with. The Stryxians were gorgeous masculine beings. They stood at 7 feet tall, covered in muscles and gray skin with scales, sharp facial features, thick leathery wings arced from their backs, with black eyes that only changed colors when they were mated. They all basically looked like Greek Gods, but better.
Saves by the Stryxian is book 2 in this series, and follows Brandy and Kando in a first person perspective. Brandy Trentler was a 25-year-old rebel, born to a wealthy family, biologically engineered to be “perfect,” who signed up for the lottery and got picked. She wasn’t supposed to be available for the lottery since she was engaged to be married, but after catching him in bed with two women, she volunteered. On the transport ship that was taking her to a Stryxian settlement (along with a handful of other women), their craft was attacked by the Morr-tas. Unfortunately, Brandy’s escape pod was captured by the Morr-ta and she was thrown into a prison cell on thier base spacecraft, where she met Kando. Kando is a Stryxian spy that’s part cyborg. He was captured by the Morr-ta years ago where they turned him into a cyborg; complete with synthetic organs, eye, arm and leg. They also removed his wings, which was the most detrimental to Kando. He was rescued by his people and the Vanyi decided to heal him instead of end his life for their personal gain. He never believed himself worthy of a mate, as he believed he no longer had a “mala” (equivalent to a human soul) and he believed no female would ever be accepting of him. He was inside the Morr-ta prison to rescue one of his informants that had been captured and scheduled for execution. We met him in the last book as a spy for Commander Raig. Kando showed up to help Raig take back his ship after the leading Vanyi Sleer betrayed him by locking him up and taking over his ship and crew. We see those events briefly from Kando’s standpoint in chapter 4 before he leaves and heads back to the Morr-ta ship to retrieve Brandy. Before escaping the Morr-ta base with a stolen ship, they stumble across innocent Morr-ta civilians (women, children & elders who do not agree with their regime’s ruling and destruction) who not only assist their escape, but hand them the key to destroying the Morr-ta once and for all. Kando becomes severely injured during the escape and requires repairs on a trading post. Brandy meets (and grows fond of) an android named Yervi, who assists her while she waits for Kando’s recovery. They make their way back to Raig’s space station and formulate a plan to take down the Morr-ta permanently. Their Prince has returned and joined them on the adventure. (There is a short story regarding the Prince and his new mate called “Stranded with a Stryxian” if you want to read their bonding.) As expected, the attack nearly killed Kando (again) and also Brandy. Kando donated one of his synthetic hearts to save her life. The uli repaired Kando, making him even better, including giving him cyborg wings.
The intimate scenes between Brandy and Kando were FIRE. Stryxians have a 6 inch tongue (oh the things that glorious appendage could do). Their cocks are similar to a human’s, but bigger, with a series of ridges running parallel to the head, along the top of the shaft. (Picture a cock with speed bumps that expand your lips upon gliding over.) Stryxians become more powerful after a mating bond is complete; their black eyes change color and they’re able to feel their mate’s emotions. Typically, I would say that the relationship between Brandy and Kando moved unbelievably fast; they knew each other less than a day before she admitted to herself of loving him and was super eager to spread her legs. However, the power of the mate bond combined with a Stryxian’s natural ability to emit pheromones (for sex, stress and anxiety reducers, etc) AND the ability to FEEL each other’s emotions, would make the fast connection a believable probability. If I knew immediately upon meeting a guy that they were “the one” beyond all reasonable doubt, I could FEEL their own desires for me as if they were my own feelings, and their very scent possessed the ability to instantly turn me on… then yeah… I’d probably drop my panties fairly quickly too. Too bad it doesn’t actually happen that way because it could save couples so much time and heart break. Kando and Brandy live happily ever after (presumably) at Kando’s childhood home, a gift from the newly returned Prince.
I felt that this book was slightly imbalanced; too much adventure and not enough romance. With that said, it didn’t suck. I definitely recommend this book, and possibly the entire series. I was happy with the read. Onto the next book…

I loved this book. I enjoy the world and enjoyed book one, but really liked the story between the former "poor little rich girl" Brandy and Kando, the Stryxian who was turned into a partial Cyborg by the Morr-tas. In the previous book we are introduced to Kando, and he's convinced he'll never find anyone who will be able to handle his metallic parts, but he seemed like a good person. In this book, Kando is in a Morr-ta prison trying to get out one of his informants, when Brandy is mistakenly thrown in the cell with them. They feel a connection but Kando is not able to rescue her so he takes his informant, then comes back to save Brandy. On the way back out of the ship Kando and Brandy meet a group of Morr-tas who are part of an older civilization that is not warring like the current Morr-tas are. This reminded me of the book Nameless Fate by Stephanie West that I read earlier this year. The older group befriend Brandy and Kando, and help them get out of the ship, while giving them the info that will help the Stryxians take out the Morr-tas.
Kando is hurt during their escape and is being worked on while Brandy is not allowed near him. She meets the cutest robot assistant who stays with her afterward and helps her get along while Kando is being fixed. They get back to the Stryxians and work on a plan to defeat the Morr-tas with the information they received. Unfortunately this causes even more damage to Kando and some to Brandy, who are both healed and end up together (with her adorable robot in a more updated body).
I really enjoyed them together, and the fact that Kando was someone who never thought he would be a full person again, and happy. Their story was really touching and there was a lot of action. I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
Kando is a cyborg on a mission to rescue his informant from a cell when a human female, Brandy, is shoved in with him. He rescues his informant but can't help but get the thoughts of the female he left behind in the cell. He has to go back for her.
---quotes -Kando stated down at me. "What are you doing down there?" I closed my eyes and pressed my lips together to keep them from twitching. "It is a mystical human ritual. I can move this wall with my mind." "Really? He sounded so skeptical, I couldn't hold back the laugh that gurgled out of me. "No," I said. "I'm resting. I don't think I could have walked much further today anyway."
-Yervi (little junk robot) turned his gave up to mine. "Define Kando's relationship to Brandy for Yervi." "He is my friend," I replied, then cast a firm look to Kando as I continued speaking to the robot. "He won't hurt you. He is your friend, too." Kando rose and his gaze turned piercing. "Is that what I am?" he inquired in a gravelly voice. "Your friend?" ..... It was as if a dam broke. He let out a growl, picked me up, and pulled me flush against him. Strong arms clamped around my back and his mouth crushed mine in a searing kiss.
I'm new to this author, but holy smokes she did it again! Aside from the YA book Cinder, I've never really read a book with Cyborgs in it. This was such an interesting topic and a part of sci-fi I haven't explored too much yet. That said, I thought the author did a splendid job of weaving it into the story. She made it so intriguing! The romance between Trinity and Kando was so heartfelt, but I also felt so bad for how many times Kando had to be repaired! Thankfully, the last time worked in his favor! The only thing keeping me from giving this a full five stars, is that this book had a small typo or two that I picked up on. Normally this doesn't count into my ratings unless it detracts away from what I'm reading and I have to focus on what the author is trying to say. Overall though, this was an easy and enjoyable read.
This romance was fun. There was lots of action and very high stakes throughout, with a medium amount of angst on the part of the hero, thinking that he is unworthy of the heroine because he is a cyborg. That was a little tiresome. The world building was vivid, with the secret Morr’ta village of pacifists being a nice twist. The characterization was competent, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship was of the Fated Mates and Insta-Love variety. Most of the conflict in this novel was external, which I often enjoy. I look forward to reading the next novel in this series when it releases.
Wow! I loved this story of Kando and Brandy. The two meet in a prison cell and are immediately drawn to each other. Kando is a Stryxian cyborg and Brandy is a human female. What these two went through made them a bonded pair to be envied. The characters have you invested in them and their happiness. The steam is just enough to enhance the story but not overwhelm it. I love alien romances where the sexy times are not what holds the story together. Yes, they are important in today’s romances but I want a story more! That’s why Ella Blake is on my my favorites list, because she gives me both. Alien Romance readers should like this book.
A cyborged Stryxian returns to the alien mother ship to rescue the human female he had not been able to save the last time he was there.
As much as he didn't like it, he found that she was his mate as they wandered the aged and unused center of the station seeking their way back to his camouflaged ship. They find it with the help of a hidden population of the enemy, one living in hiding from the current regime, with gifts that will be needed to destroy the stations outer areas, saving the center where the dissidents live. They have more adventures and are almost killed twice before the enemy alien base is destroyed, almost taking both of them with it.
4⭐️ I was shocked that I liked this as much as I did, considering the main male character is a cyborg! It turns out that that is their way of “healing” someone if damage is extensive enough. I thought of it as mostly just a bunch of bionic prosthetics. We get to dive into the alien culture of their enemy a bit more. This definitely provided a different side that was unexpected. I’m glad I read the novella before this (that comes through BookFunnel) so I was all caught up on the Prince’s story.
**Warning: body experimentation**
Expect: -alien romance -human x alien allies -cyborg (but really just fancy prosthetics) -unlikely friendship -forced proximity -one bed -spice 🌶️ -mates
When Kando and Brandy first meet in the dark prison cell with other aliens around them, Brandy can’t see his cyborg enhancements. She does recognize he’s Stryxian, an ally and caring man. Kando’s immediately attracted to her but afraid his cyborg nature will scare her away. Can he keep them hidden and remain just her friend? Has he lost the “mala” that creates the eternal mating bond typical for Stryxian? Or has he found his true mate in this lovely human? Enjoy their adventures!
I loved how this book happened at the same time as book one. The crossover and more background made for a great story. The Morr'ta are defeated as in the closing of book one but this book explained how they are defeated. Also a cyborg is the hero and they are my favorite sci-fi trope. Brandy had to pretty must beat it into him that she loved him, didn't matter that he was a cyborg. And he fought the idea he could actually have a mate. But HEA is assured.
We have one honorable alien hero, Kando, and one mega rich courageous heroine human female, Brandy, trapped in enemy territory. There’s lot of action, adventure, bravery, sacrifice, pain, hope, happiness and love.
The ending was wonderful, I loved it. If this was a movie, i would have been wiping tears from my eyes. After all what they have risks, they deserved the happiness and peace they have found.
This book is now on my list of favorite books. I loved it.
This story is about a woman who wants a new life. Her number is picked in the alien mate lottery and on her way she is inducted by the bad guys. She meets her mate in a prison cell. Her new reality is much different then what she expected but it may not be all bad. Her mate must save her and also deal with his new reality as well, since he is a cyborg and learns he has mala despite his bodies enhancements. Well worth reading.
The ultimate hero's journey in a sci-fi adventure! From beginning to end, I was enthralled by the characters in this book. Brandy makes a decision to save herself and ends up meeting Kando who has been a hero spy all along. The fight with the Moor-ta gets personal in this book and the adventure is crazy good. It was hard to put down, easy to read, and definitely full of a great story to tell. Very well written, I'm looking forward to the next one now!
Such a powerful love story. The author took what I find most appealing in the genre. The coming together of two people. It is the only reason I read romance for. I love the settings, etc of this story (the author has an awesome imagination). But it is the characters coming together, that makes a difference. The stories that draw me in, and make me feel like they are real that are the ones I love the most.
Brandy and Kando When her transport is attacked by the Morr-ta she go finds herself in the hands of the enemy. Rescued by Kando, a cyborg, they find something that might just turn the tides of the war.
Another enjoyable sci-fi romance by Ella Blake. This has all the goodies; cyborgs, aliens, evil aliens, space fights… it’s sure to entertain the sci-fi romance fans out there.
Saved by the Stryxian is book 2 in the Stryxian Alien Warriors series. This is an off planet, fantasy romance between a human female, Brandy, and a Stryxian male, Kando. We met Kando in book 1 so it was really cool to get his story so quickly. I am really enjoying this series. It is an easy listen. The narration was good. Overall, I give this book 4.5 stars. I am looking forward to continuing this series.
So good I finished it in hours. Kando is a cyborg and normally that means extra abilities and a different look. In this case it means he can save his soulmate. Brandy has good reason to escape Earth and she gets a bit more adventure than she expected. I love that the author only writes consensual romances with happy endings.
So much action and danger. This is a great sci-fi romance that will have you enthralled from start to end. Kando may be a cyborg but to Brandy he is what gorgeous alien. From the start the two will face danger against the enemy Morr-ta. I loved both of the main characters and was glad we got to see some from the previous story and some new ones. Can’t wait to read more from this series.
Wow ! What an adventure, his installment is loaded with action and so much more. There's a very leading surprise at the end and many chuckles coming your way. Especially the sexy hot wet scenes.💞🔥 I'm definitely reading the whole series. I truly got caught up till late with this book.
