You can prevent global warming (and save money!). I thought that this book had some pretty good tips on how to be green. They could really help out too. If you didn’t have common sense that is. A lot of these tips are some that make you say “well duh”. One of the “tips” pretty much told you to take shorter showers but with the slightest of humor thrown in there for effect. They was some good tips in there though. It’s not all common sense. They say it’s a good idea to invest in green stocks which is a good idea from what I’ve seen. They even name off a few SRI funds, for example, “Domini, The Calvert Group, Ariel” so on and so forth.
I thought that some of what was said was pretty good advice. I stress the word some though. I respect some of the options, they had 13 pages of a topic called shopping right that I thought could really help the environment and keep you wallet fat. There was a large section of the book that was trying to sell items that would cut 44 dollars of your bill but cost around 20 dollars. I didn’t think most of the items Jeffrey Langholz and Kelly Turner did little things that slightly helped out the environment and your budget.
I think green freaks would like this book. Well any book that has the words “global warming” and “prevention” in the same sentence peaks their attention. Which isn’t a bad thing at all. It’s good that a large amount of our population want to fix what the rest of us our messing up. All the little things we could that would help the Earth we don’t do, hoping someone else will clean it up for us. So I thank you green freaks . . . I just realize that that name may be offensive . . . I’m gonna keep using it though.

This is an excellent reference book for anyone who desires to live a more environmentally friendly life style. Each chapter contains brief and easy to understand explanations about environmental issues and the things we can do to reduce our impact. For each tip there is a chart explaining not only how many carbon emissions we can prevent, but also how much money we can save by implementing the tip. At the end of each chapter there is an annotated list of websites with more information. When I move into my new home next month I will definitely be consulting this book to help me make more environmentally conscious choices.

Well, again it seems that I have hit the glass ceiling when it comes to being green.

This book was ok, but I didn't like that there were no pictures, and that every chapter was organized in such a way that the same info was given twice. (What You Should Know = incandescent bulbs are inefficient. Easy Ways You Can Help = buy fluorescent.) The two section should definitely have been combined.

My youngest daughter loves to grab flyers at the library and tote them around. Yesterday's flyer was titled, "What You Can Do About Global Warming". I figured I'd add the books from the flyer to my to read list. Maybe I'll start a Green reading list in honor of Earth Day.

Another good reference! This one has a lot of startling statistics. It made me feel like an absolute heel, but motivated me for the better.

I particularly enjoyed the authors' careful presentation of the assumptions used in their calculations of money and carbon saved. The text corrects several common misconceptions, provides a number of less widely-known tips, as well as giving helpful, interesting details on more familiar tips. Some of the specifics are a bit dated, but most are still relevant.
